My opinion.
I understand I haven’t got the biggest platform, so this will hardly reach the hierarchy, but I’m going to say it as it is. The club is run by Hughes and Edwards, who are full of egos. They want to keep Arne Slot, not because his data is good despite a poor season — if that were the case, surely we would know which criteria he’s actually performing well in. They want full control and a yes-man head coach, and Arne Slot is one of them.
The issue that won’t be seen by the public goes beyond Arne Slot’s Premier League title win. A poor season with 18 losses would be considered sackable for any coach at any club, never mind the biggest club in the country, Liverpool. Hughes and Edwards plan to leave next summer, so why are they still making these decisions? John Henry and Billy Hogan should be stepping in and saying, “No, this isn’t good enough and we aren’t getting enough from this — he’s gone.”
Edwards is briefing all his little friends — like James Pearce, Ornstein, etc.
— to put out the line that “we will keep him, he’s our man.” He is their man because, with basic common sense, we know they don’t want to admit they got it wrong. Change is needed from top to bottom, and it’s needed fast, or Liverpool could be in serious trouble. The club have definitely held talks with other coaches because we have been told they have by reliable people. Alonso is yet to be one of them. But Klopp wasn’t approached until he was appointed. Anyway, the bottom line is I’m really unhappy and us match goers need to be as vocal as possible with our opinion on Matchday.

Great post. I think you've nailed it there. I thought the atmosphere in the ground on Saturday was tense, bordering on toxic. Think it will only get worse if Slot stays.
It feels like most of the fan base has given up on him. I think to leave it much longer shows absolute negligence on the part of FSG. Whoever is in charge must only be a matter of time.

Thing is, most stay away owners at top clubs are only interested in getting Top 4 n keep the money rolling in, if we win things, then it's a Brucie bonus to them. They only really act if the money isn't coming in.

Very good post, Racey. Awesome stuff. If Slot stays along with these clowns, we are in a world of hurt in the coming season.
Also, I don't believe that Alonso was "never in the running" as they are trying to put out because we know we spoke to him multiple times already and he has said he would take the job, all things being equal even by the Ed's.
In the end, we will see what happens.

12 May 2026 15:41:36
In the end, they will all lose their jobs. That, I can guarantee.
I think they are all gone in a year's time, but my feeling is, they are here for one more, very likely, poor season. I'd bite your hand off for Champions League qualification next season if Slot's in charge. That's where I am with it.

Davey, you'll never see me argue any of that, man. I said before that had I had the final say in this, I would tell all 3 of these clowns to clean out their desks by 9 AM on Monday, the day after the Brentford game.

Apparently we are looking to sign Diomande & Maghnes Akliouche as our wingers, I really like the sound of that.

Racey, you go from a very positive post, in this one, to all doom and gloom above. In the space of 5 mins.

Hi Eds, hope use have been doing well and all other users.
For any of the Eds if use would please?
Do use believe there will be some sort of gentleman's agreement with AS at the end of the season with both of the club and him going separate ways? Almost seems like at the minute there is talks about him staying but the club, fans, manager and players all seem so far apart from eachother at the minute, so interesting to hear what use think
Also, Eds do you have a list on who LFC could be targeting this summer? Will this be dependent on the manager being AS.
Interesting if use have a couple of players we may be interested in
Cheers all
{Ed001's Note - no, if he goes they will state mutual consent but he will either have been sacked or resigned.
No, I don't do lists, if I hear something I post it up.}
12 May 2026 09:12:45
Hi Ed's1
Do you think LFC will wait until there's a new manager in before fully sorting out IK contract. I mean if you look at gravs latest one it's off the scale so I can only imagine what IK will want. And he absolutely ***** which anyone can see. First thing I'd be questioning coming in a manager/ coach is him?
{Ed001's Note - no. They should just f him off now.}
12 May 2026 11:56:15
Hopefully they have done. Just not told anyone! No point giving him a new contract and being stuck with him for the next four years on excessive wages.
Having purchased enough CBs around the age of 20, and still looking, if you believe gossip.
Congratulations to Ndikwe on making his first team debut (although fleeting).
Surely they cannot or do not see him helping to transition the new CBs.

Ibou has agreed a wage, the sticking point is a signing on bonus and agent fees. I am with the ed. Let him go.

12 May 2026 13:20:45
Just F him off now haha.
Ed you used to be so balanced and constructive, what has this season done to you, I'm loving this energy towards the frauds at the club.

{Ed001's Note - it is a difficult year.}

Mad how much our club has changed since Klopp left.
He was just the best bloke.
Feel like the “he scored so many goals” bloke on Talksport most days.
12 May 2026 10:45:36
What is sad is that the culture and identity created could have carried on with tweaks here and there and maybe replacing one player every transfer window (as they get near the point where they are no longer performing at that elite level).
We have seen other dominant clubs re-build title winning teams.
We even did it ourselves in the glory days.
It felt like the whole club, area, and fanbase were all pulling in the same direction, and everything was great.
Standards have slipped so much, and it is going to take a while to get it all back to anywhere near what it was.
The only blessing is that there are so many people desperate for Slot to go, that the new manager will be given time (as he will be viewed as the anti-Slot). Even if there isn't success at first - as long as we can see a way of playing becoming clear, and the players looking like they can at least perform with some intensity for the whole match, we will be on our way.

Guardiola absolutely slaughtered Arteta 😂🤣😂.
"You're really putting Klopp and Arteta in the same sentence for me to compare? Klopp is a tactical monster, a genius. Every time we faced each other he came with something new to challenge me. He's one of the very few coaches in football you can genuinely learn from. Arteta? "
"I can't say I've learned anything from him tactically, but I will give him credit, playing with 4 centre-backs and turning set pieces into a full-time profession is certainly. innovative. For me, maybe 3 centre-backs and one natural full-back is understandable, but 4 CBs and corners deciding every game? Football keeps surprising me. This question would've made much more sense if you only asked me about Klopp."
😂🤣😂. It's slicing and dicing season.

Damn, son? Talk about getting Arteta's arse handed to him on a plate. It's about damn time someone told Arteta and his Arsenal acolytes what the deal really is with these delusional, clout-chasing comparisons that is just irritating and unnecessary.
Pep may not be an LFC fan, even tho he admires our club's history and as an institution (I actually think if he had a chance to choose btw City and LFC on equal footing, he would pick us), but he is a real one. As they say in the hip-hop, "Game recognise Game".
Arteta is a lightweight compared to these two monsters in Klopp and Pep. He couldn't shine these guys' shoes nor carry their training bags. They both have the battle scars to prove it with trophies up and down the Wazoo. Only Arsenal fans believe Arteta is on Klopp's level should he win a PL and or a CL this season. No one (esp. real legendary managers) believe that crap.
Allow them to live and drown in their own delusions.
P/S: ArAy1969, thanks for posting this. Big up, man.

Ed025
I forgot to ask your prediction last week, ended badly with the 1-1 draw with Chelsea, one of our more annoying performances for me.
Anyways, we move on.
What's your thoughts on Friday against Villa?
{Ed025's Note - Liverpool are so hard to predict this season Hughesy, i backed them to easily beat Chelsea last week but of course they let me down, Villa can be anything because they are so unpredictable but i fancy the reds to give them a bit of a rodgering this weekend mate, 3-0 is my prediction..
12 May 2026 12:11:00
Thanks ED025 - I will place a wager on a draw and thank you later.

We should be trying to get the best manager in the world. Simple as that. 'Shoot for the stars, land on the moon' - the higher you aim, the further you will go. The target should be that the next manager should be the best one we've ever had.

Linked wingers. Which two should we go for?
Diomande - 19, Leipzig, estimated price £85m
Toure - 20, Hoffenheim, estimated price £30-40m
Alikouche - 24, Monaco, estimated price £50m
Barcola - 24, PSG, estimated price £70-£80m
Trincao - 26, Sporting, estimated £52m release clause
Yildiz - 21, Juve, estimated price £75m
Minteh - 21, Brighton, estimated price £40-£50m.
12 May 2026 09:05:31
Diomande and Yildiz would be my picks.

12 May 2026 09:39:16
Are we going for two wingers?
Agree0
12 May 2026 09:43:16
Barcola is the must have. Proven it time and again in the Champions League.
Minteh too raw, Trincao too old and not the required level (likely no sell on value after a 5 year contract).
The others I don't mind.

12 May 2026 10:53:50
Stats are very impressive for Trincao, mind, across all competitions. Rarely injured as well. Even Traore impressive in his first season. For me, the summer budget should be Diomande and Barcola. If Salah, Chiesa are going, we will need two wingers imo.
Agree1
12 May 2026 11:15:39
My eyes popped open when I saw those prices. But I guess 80-90 million today is the equivalent of 40 million 8-9 years ago when we bought the likes of Mane, Firmino and Salah. Hope that whoever we buy plays at their level.

Diomande and Fofana.

Diomande and Toure.
