Wonder if you had heard anything about Elliot's future? From the looks he won't be playing enough minutes for the sale to go through, would you see him returning, or maybe we would cancel the loan and send him somewhere else?
Shame to see his development so stunted.

Wasn't there an obligation to buy? If there's a minimum number of games threshold, that's an appalling negotiation from Hughes. It means we don't get our fee and it's an incentive for Villa NOT to play him which results in the value of our asset to depreciate. It's a lose-lose situation.

Obligated at 10 games. i disagree that it's appalling, for whatever the reason Emery doesn't rate him, if it would have gone the other way then the transfer would already be sorted. A recall and send somewhere else seems the best option.

It was 10 games I believe - I think everyone here and most football fans thought Elliot would play 10 games for Villa.

Which only makes it more appalling because there is now an incentive to ensure that Elliott plays less than 10 games if they don't want to keep him. This is primarily damaging to us and the player.
The golden rule when loaning out a player is assume the other club will take the p because he's not their asset.

Always thought it was a p. poor loan, the moment things go badly he’d be the first to be dropped. Lad should have gone to the Bundesliga as his lack of pace and physicality would not have been an issue.
Think he’d have shone out there. As it is, he’s wasted 6 months of his career. Can genuinely see him not making 10 games for Villa because Emery is a very stubborn manager.

Might not have even been an option but he should have gone to Leverkusen with Quansah. The German league would be ideal for his development.

He had Morgan Rogers, ahead of him, so he was never going to replace him. I agree, Germany may have been a better option, but what do I know. Basically, without stating the obvious, he needs to be playing. I'm sure, a couple of years back, he had an ambition of making the World Cup squad.
His career has come off the rails, but he's still young enough to get back on. My issue with him is, I've no idea what his best position is. He lacks both pace and physicality, which is a problem in todays game. It's a shame, because he seems a really good lad, who loves Liverpool.

Is it not a calendar year rather than a season? Could be wrong but Elliott would be free to join another club in January.

If it’s a calendar year hopefully we can get him a club better suited. Personally think he’d be very successful in Bundesliga, La Liga, Ligue 1 or Serie A.

Something Red, loads of clubs are doing this as a way to get around FFP. You are essentially buying the player but putting the purchase off a year. It is either a loan with a straight obligation to buy, an option to buy or no buy option. The only one that doesn't make any sense is a loan with an obligation to buy after a certain number of games because then the buying club has a disincentive to play the player if they don't want to commit to him which primarily hurts the player and the selling club.

It is only November and he only has to play 5 more times. Emerys acting the maggot but circumstances can change. injuries, fixture congestion etc.
