City in for guehi £30m bid in.
16 Jan 2026 13:22:24
Yep, just been reading that. How were we so close to signing this player just 5 months ago and now he's likely going somewhere else, especially as it's a position where we look like we need quality reinforcements for. It's either a) we've got someone better lined up or b) we're fools. I'm inclined to think it's b) at this stage.
16 Jan 2026 14:06:01
B B B B B for sure. I'm fuming honestly. What are we playing at. The only thing I can say is MG is used to playing in front of small crowds, so city's empty blue seats. I'm so gutted.
16 Jan 2026 14:09:53
Deal agreed in principle according to the bbc just now.
16 Jan 2026 14:22:58
Just read it's 20m, either way wtf are we playing at, we're in dire need of a CB and we're sitting back allowing them to snatch him? It makes no sense whatsoever.
16 Jan 2026 14:27:25
£20m agreed in the end. Nice to see Hughes once again proving to be well out of his depth and completely inept.
16 Jan 2026 14:29:40
I personally don't think he's worth what City want to pay him. Good luck if you can get it.
16 Jan 2026 14:35:58
Deal done in principle. But don't worry Hughes is lining up another Ben Davies. Sit tight.
16 Jan 2026 14:38:34
I'd like Guehi, but if we don't go for him I'd understand, IF, underlined in triplicate, we bring in another CB this January. Look at our f-ing goal difference, look at our set pieces, look at our league position, look at our total lack of depth. It's business negligence. Virg has not been near his level this season (age probably catching up), but Konate is our Achilles heel, and the primary reason we've had to pack the midfield and become more boring, just to win narrowly and eek out a few draws.
I'm getting angry now, can you tell :) Let's see what the 2nd half of January brings.
16 Jan 2026 14:40:13
Just saw Romano report that it's £20m. I feel we should have gone in if it was that amount. We definitely dropped the ball with him, I feel.
16 Jan 2026 14:43:24
Not going to be option A that's obvious.
16 Jan 2026 14:45:05
Fabrizio reporting that fee is £20m, if that's the case it is shocking that we refused to pay that fee. We offered £35 only 6 months ago! From a footballing perspective are we going to bring in a comparable defender for less than 35m? I accept that player terms will have changed since the summer and he would have been looking for better terms and bonuses etc give that he could sign on a free in 6 months but surely this would have balanced out.
Either way it's mid Jan and we have only 3 CBs and 1 RB while we are fighting for champions league, top 4 and in a cup! One of those CBs is also Gomes.
16 Jan 2026 14:49:12
Apparently couldn't confirm new Summer manager to him. Understandable - needs to know next boss.
16 Jan 2026 14:51:43
So Glasner stops Guehi joining liverpool in the summer then leaves palace and becomes ManUtd manager a season later. For the conspiracy theorists out there.
16 Jan 2026 15:03:43
I'm fuming! I have to believe there is another solid plan in place instead of sheer incompetence. I'm not sure. We are one injury shy of a disaster at CB. Makes no sense.
16 Jan 2026 15:04:35
3 heads should roll in the summer when this season becomes a huge disappointment and it won't be solely on slot. Hughes is out of his depth.
16 Jan 2026 15:09:29
Hopefully Hughes and Slot will be gone in the summer. Heitinga to Spurs, Semenyo and Guehi to City - they're avoiding Slotball like the plague.
16 Jan 2026 15:12:11
We're monitoring for opportunistic quality signings, but will end up with a couple of loans.
16 Jan 2026 15:18:39
I'm sure in the summer nobody on here wanted Guehi (Apart from Adam and a few others), now he is suddenly a massive miss. Can't make it up.
16 Jan 2026 15:22:01
We don't need Guehi. We are unbeaten in 11.
16 Jan 2026 15:47:52
Lol JLC, funny thing there is some people will agree with it.
16 Jan 2026 16:00:07
Most people wanted Guehi in the summer. What are you talking about?
16 Jan 2026 16:20:21
Agree there are better CB out there, but probably not for 20M obviously his wages are the main thing, so 20M is a fair fee, but if as reported his getting 300k a week then that makes its different and probably the deciding factor, but we do need one now really so assume/ hope there's an alternative in the pipeline tbh being one defensive injury away from trouble for the remainder of the season.
16 Jan 2026 17:25:10
I'd agree we don't need Guehibin 300k a week. We do need a CB though.
16 Jan 2026 18:51:06
Bastoni at 300K?
16 Jan 2026 22:12:45
For those of a certain age, we have been gazumped. A club who seem to have unlimited 'sponsorships' on tap offered terms that can't be matched by our criteria of the right player at the right price. He might be the right player (although that might be questionable as we were assured at the end of the summer window that he had given his word to join us) but, if the reported weekly wage is correct, he's not the right price.
City, as ever, are paying over the odds to buy the title. Ironically (at least I hope it's ironic) the BBC are saying that City are in a very strong financial position……. Guess it'll be a long time until the 115 charges are actually addressed, resolved and acted upon.
17 Jan 2026 06:57:36
To quote a very intelligent and dearly missed rodeo clown, "forget about the finances".
When we win our next trophy, I hope we all talk about how we win the title because we have so many players on X amount per week, Y amount per week and whatever else everyone else earns.
How much players earn when we win is irrelevant.
How much Guehi is getting now is irrelevant.
He wanted us, we didn't follow up.
This is not on him.
17 Jan 2026 10:52:55
On the money JLC. Well put.
