So it would appear that Chiesa has been sent home from the Italy squad because he's not fit enough, not because he's carrying an injury. If this is the case, the club should sack slot on the spot, no pay off. The very least, they need to get someone independent in to assess the fitness of the rest of the players.

Ron, there's plenty of perspective, mate. The entire squad, bar Dom, has been unfit all season. It's blatantly obvious. We struggle beyond 70 minutes, we concede an insane amount of late winners, we get outrun in every game, even Slot himself admitted just a couple of weeks ago that:
"We are much fitter now than we were a couple of months ago."
A couple of months ago we were 5/6 months into the league! How does a squad of elite professionals who've essentially been fit their entire careers need 7 months to get match fit? And how is the manager admitting it so non-chalant as if it's not an issue?! And no, he wasn't talking about injuries, he was very clearly speaking about conditioning.
It's unforgivable.

Players unfit for purpose is a cardinal sin.
They are supposed to be elite athletes but are more like donkeys and you are happy with this.
It makes our club look bad and a laughing stock.
Sack Slot today. He has not completed his remit to get the players to a level of fitness as Jurgen Klopp had the players.

All members of the squad should have a minimum level of fitness, so if they are called upon, whether from the bench or as a starter, they can do a job for the team. That is the responsibility of the coach and his staff.
Match fitness from playing is more to do with sharpness and fine tuning fitness, etc. Having players that don't reach the basic level is negligence on the manager's part and gross misconduct.

All of the squad should be independently tested for fitness levels, as I doubt Chiesa is the odd one out, as most of them seem to run out of steam even after walking about for 70mins.

Mac Allister has withdrawn from the Argentina squad due to fitness issues too. Our squad is painfully unfit, and that's down to one man whose dedication to the job would embarrass the manager of a pub side.

People are frustrated with Slot a the performances. That's understandable. We all are.
IMO Slot should be sacked. No question.
But I agree with Ron's comment.
I wouldn't be sacking him because Chiesa isn't fit.
This type of hyperbole just makes us supporters look like emotional wrecks that are knee jerking whereas actually we are a very tolerant fanbase.

You're right Ron, about this one reason alone in situ, he should have been sacked way before this for a multitude of reasons, anyone and everyone on here who hasn't got their tongue in slots arse already know.
The man has destroyed us! I can't even out into words how infuriated I am by what he's done and continues to do! And running off back home or to Spain when the team can't get through 70 minutes without tiring or getting injured is not acceptable! He shows no interest in the youth teams! Starts gakpo over Rio, and infact over anyone! His excuses are reminding me of Rodger's! Playing players out of position! His tactics and substitutions are dire! I could go on and on! Yes he won the league and we thank him for that, but he has to go before he does anymore damage!! I'm absolutely sick to the teeth!

Can't blame the manager for this as there should be a team of professionals using scientific tools and knowledge to manage fitness and doses/types of exercises for each player.

Loft, look at the squad Slot has compared to Rodgers and Hodgson, it's night and day.
If Rodgers' Liverpool that came second in the league that year was competing last season, they walk the league. We won the league last year because the league was so bad, same as Arsenal this year.
But more than anything, it's how Slot is treating the club from March last international break on, he clocked out and has not clocked in since.

Being not fit could mean he has been carrying an injury and isn't 100%. Not that he can't run, complete a 10km time trial.

JLC Arteta is using his loaf, keeping his squad away from their national sides. He has a lot to lose if players go and get injured, so don't blame him for one minute. His club comes first.

Grino, that team barring the forward 4 playing out of their skins, Gerrard and Hendo, the rest of the squad wouldn't have been up to snuff tactically, I still shudder at the thought of 4CBs at home to Southampton (and further shudder that it seems we bought Lovren off the back of that game), how West Brom walked through the midfield to take a point off us and how we reverted to 2012/13 form in 2014/15, Suarez is the primary reason for how well we did that season, not how good Rodgers was as a manager, he's one of those who didn't really buy him into what the club is, hence him with his ridiculous veneers and messing around his wife.
