Dominic king from The Telegraph reported six first team players leaving this summer Salah, Robertson, Gomez, MacAllister, Curtis Jones and Chiesa. Is that true Eds?
{Ed001's Note - it is certainly possible. Impossible to say for sure as no deals are completed as it stands, but those other four are all on the block for a sale.}
17 Apr 2026 07:27:27
I'd hope Konate was on the list for players leaving as well.
17 Apr 2026 07:41:59
He's a human clown car most of the time. I'd prefer Lacroix or Murillo.
17 Apr 2026 08:27:40
They should be on the block for sale. My opinion: I'm really unsure about Chiesa. It's very hard to judge him in the very minimal time he's given on the pitch, but perhaps he isn't good enough to get much more. I think we'd all like him to do well here. It seems like he's being treated as a bit of an unwanted individual by Slot. That's just my view of his situation. He certainly has desire, and in a more attack driven mindset, he could very well be successful.
It's right to sell Gomez given his injury record, which for me is a real shame. When he was fit and firing, unfortunately not often enough, he was a great partner for VVD. I think it was our CL winning season that he played consistently beside him, and he was excellent. Injury certainly curtailed his career. The other 2 can freely leave imo. Anyway, we'll see soon.

Shankleys Ghost.
No need to be unsure about Chiesa. He should be nowhere near a Liverpool team. He wouldn't even get on the bench at any other top 6 side, and would not get a regular start at any other Premier League side, including bottom teams Burnley and Wolves.
17 Apr 2026 09:14:55
Konate should be the first on the block to be sold! Total and utter calamity imo. ???
17 Apr 2026 08:03:09
Hi Ed,
What do you think of selling Jones?
Also, would you add Gakpo to that list?
Thanks
{Ed001's Note - I wouldn't sell Jones, we have space in the squad for homegrown and his wages are not high for a Premier League player. I would be looking to replace him though long term, but right now he is a useful squad player, if not reaching the level he should have.
No, I would not sell Gakpo at the moment. He was very good last season, the tactics are hindering him like so many others.}
17 Apr 2026 10:01:05
Gakpo will be our second striker next season until Ekitike gets fit, so he should not be sold.
17 Apr 2026 09:52:05
Konate Ed? Is he signing a new contract? I personally would let him go if he is asking crazy money as I don't think he is as good as most people say. Maybe look for an upgrade on RCB position and ease both Leoni and Jacquet after their long term injury.
{Ed001's Note - it looks likely he signs a new deal, though I would never have even offered him one, he was the weakest link last season and this. We should have replaced him and sold him last summer.}
17 Apr 2026 10:09:09
Completely agree Ed.
Perhaps Jones isn't happy with his bit part role though and wants more first team mins.
Id keep him.
Surprised Endo is not on that list.
{Ed001's Note - I assumed he was just forgotten about. Such a sad way to end his career with us after all he gave under Klopp. Slot is a horrible man manager and that is more of a problem even than his abysmal tactics imo. You can't expect to keep the players playing for you and giving their all when you treat their friends and colleagues the way he does.}
17 Apr 2026 10:36:06
You're probably right, Kemlyn. I'm just more sentimental as I get older.... On Gakpo I'd have zero intentions of selling him. I like him. He's a good player.... I wouldn't stand in Jones' way if there was an offer on the table for him.
I'd keep Endo ahead of Jones. At least he's good at what he does once on the pitch. He has a definitive role. Everyone knows my view on Konate. No need to elaborate further.
17 Apr 2026 10:41:50
Jones is the only one I'd keep as well. Should have been in ahead of McAllister all season. For me, Endo should be added as well.
17 Apr 2026 10:50:15
His treatment of Chiesa is beyond forgiving. He has wasted 2 years of his career under Slot, looking at non-wingers being shoehorned into the left wing when he has been made to sit and watch.
17 Apr 2026 10:53:18
Chiesa would be great for us if we played more front footed attacking play, like under Klopp. Sadly our slow way of playing doesn't suit his style. He'd have been immense under Klopp.
17 Apr 2026 11:08:18
Squad players are always needed at a club of our size, but we have plenty of young lads on the cusp of being ready for first team football and should embrace the academy more for these roles.
Granted, they won't all make it, but exposure to Premier League football as a minimum gives a player a platform to earn a move and gains some funds back into the club. We have done well at selling young players for a profit under Klopp.
Morton, Quansah, Kelleher, Doak, Ibe for examples, but we don't seem to give any a platform under Slott.
Rio, by popular demand from the fans, is getting game time, but what about -
Nyoni
Pesci
Ramsey
Beck
Lucky
Gordon
Figueroa
Wright
A clear path is needed for these players, and saves millions if they can perform.
To reiterate, this is for squad places before I get slated for needing Premier League ready shiny expensive toys.
17 Apr 2026 11:43:49
My feeling is that it may go like this with the former replacing the latter:
Rio - Chiesa.
Nyoni - Endo.
Senesi - Gomez (Senesi on a free).
Wharton/M.Fernandes - Macca.
Diomande - Salah.
Gordon - Gakpo.
Chambers/Beck - Robbo/Tsimikas.
Stephens - Bradley (until he returns).
Jones - possibly Bacejtic/McDonnel/Kees Smit.
Ekitike - Williams/Danns (until Eki returns with Gakpo rotating with Isak more than Williams/Danns).
Feels like heavy investment will likely be on Salah replacement, a 6 and a LW.
We cannot burden Rio with full workload of 70+ next season. The boy will break like Baj.
Somewhere along the line we have to rely on our academy.
17 Apr 2026 12:19:36
If we keep Konate, we have VVD, Konate, Leoni, Jacquet and maybe a couple of the young lads we signed in the winter window and maybe Nallo. If we keep hold of Joe G as the cover for RB / CB, buying a CB isn't really necessary.
17 Apr 2026 12:51:13
Anyone who thinks Chiesa will come good if he gets more minutes is deluded. He is just not good enough, and never will be. The guy got sent back by Italy before he had unpacked his suitcase because his fitness levels were atrocious.
Also, some of the Academy players listed would have us competing with the mid-table teams for a Conference League place.
As for Jones, he has great ability, but someone at the club should have told him years ago to move the ball on quicker. When he receives a pass, he just can't resist hanging onto it for that extra second or two. It has killed his Liverpool career.
17 Apr 2026 13:52:47
Why would you want to keep Joe? He's done. Breaks after every game now.
And Nallo hasn't shown any indication that he's good on the ball. Teams like City, Arsenal and Chelsea have at least 5 proper CB's. Added to that, Virgil won't last forever. We need 5. Jacquet and Leonie have not played in the Premier League and will need some adjustment time. So bringing in Senesi/Murillo or someone else we can rely on is critical.
Virgil will leave in 28/29.
As much as I don't want to admit it, Arsenal is on top not only because we fell off a cliff, but because they have a proper "squad". Most are seasoned internationals. The new young CB's we bought also need time. So it's important we try and get another CB to compete next season, so we can phase out Virgil.
We need 5:
Virgil
Konate
Jacquet
Leonie
Someone other than Joe.
17 Apr 2026 14:03:55
Ed001,
Not that I trust Slot to actually do this, but do you think Nyoni is ready to take Jones' place in the squad if we were to sell him?
No negative effect on home grown registration then, plus extra money to go towards other positions rather than a Jones replacement.
{Ed001's Note - how is it no negative effect? He is young enough to not take a squad place for a few more seasons yet, so why sell Jones to replace with Nyoni? Just put Nyoni in the team instead. And no, he is like Rio, nowhere near ready. We don't have anyone ready made because our manager has barely used them to get them ready.}
17 Apr 2026 15:13:57
Ed001, why do you think Slot doesn't see the issues of his tactics on the players, it's so obvious?
{Ed001's Note - because he sees what he wants to see, with the aid of stats.}
17 Apr 2026 15:14:04
Ed001, I just meant as opposed to selling Jones and replacing him with a foreign player, using Nyoni in that case would be better registration wise as it would leave the spot open for another position.
Agree he's probably not ready due to lack of use this season though, but I'd rather throw him in than bring in someone who isn't a clear upgrade on Curtis.
{Ed001's Note - we would just be a man less if we did that. Nyoni can be used anyway, so it makes little real sense to me.}
17 Apr 2026 15:15:37
Sorry just to add to my last reply Ed, I like Jones and don't want to sell him at all, but unfortunately looks like it might be headed that way.
17 Apr 2026 16:18:02
Not fussed if Jones goes. Not good enough in my honest opinion. Rumours are that he wants £200k and a more prominent starting role. Well, off you go, son. Find it elsewhere because you're not good enough to start here and certainly not a £200k a week player; £50k would be more than generous.
17 Apr 2026 20:27:50
I'd be glad to see those 6 leave myself. Vv £50k for Jones, not a chance. He gets £200k a week, and the club is done. Squad player at best, but in all honesty he shouldn't be anywhere near the squad.
Add Gakpo to that list also, just another over rated winger, 1 trick pony like Rashford. All out for himself, no tracking back whatsoever, and not the energy levels Diaz had. Get someone else on cheaper wages in.
18 Apr 2026 07:25:56
Kelly Road has nailed it about Jones - too slow in possession. He wants to hold it and have a look around and do a couple of pirouettes, then disappears up his own @@@@ and has the ball taken off him. He doesn't see the pass quick enough, slows the game down, and allows the opposition to regroup.
There is no doubt he has talent in his feet, but it's not there upstairs.
And, on top of that, continually posting pictures from private jets and of him and his partner in designer gear and driving around in a Rolls 4x4 doesn't exactly endear you to the hard working supporter who is campaigning against a 3% rise in the price of their ticket.
People on here talk about him being a local lad, but that's a quirk of where he was born, as he certainly doesn't behave like one!
18 Apr 2026 08:24:43
You know him personally, @L10Red? In what way, based on your knowing him, does he not behave like a local lad? Does he come onto forums and slag off people he doesn't know by any chance?
19 Apr 2026 21:13:18
On Jones, I'd be keen to see if another coach (next season ????) can unlock more from Jones.
Last chance saloon for him.
We need a left and right wingers imo, a proper dm and a right back. That's if Konate stays and Tsimikas is returning, and the main one, hopefully a new coach can get these lads back to peak fitness to bring the intensity back in the team.
I think that's as important than any one player.
