Ed002, do you see transfer fees lowering when this all blows over?

Keith

{Ed002's Note - At the lower levels yes, there is no doubt spending will be less. Then there are higher fees for English sides charged by many clubs. The clubs who are in considerable debt (like Atletico) will need to horse trade and sell. The higher profile Italian sides will continue to look to trade players as much as they can. The clubs who get relief from FFP should look to shoring up their finances rather than spending otherwise they could be in a worse position going forward (this includes the likes of Milan, Marseille and a couple of EPL sides). The clubs who are in a comfortable position (so most of the English PL sides, Barcelona) will look to key targets in the main, then will look to selling to buy. The handful of cash rich sides should be in a good position to cherry pick what they want - but may well try and limit spend. Overall expect a few expensive moves but a lower total spend than recent years.}

Ed002. Wow, what an insight. Thank you.

Well, it's not just insight. It's a prediction, based on insight.

Let's see how it pans out this summer and let's all salute Ed002 if his predictions are correct.

2.) 06 Apr 2020 22:37:13
Thanks for your great reply Ed, much appreciated and stay safe everyone.

{Ed002's Note - And you Keith.}

3.) 07 Apr 2020 11:35:40
Hi Ed the EPL teams is that Everton and Villa?

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

28 Dec 2016 22:54:48
Heard we're interested in Oxlade Chamberlain for next month, surely this is lazy journalism eds?

Keith

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach but Arsenal will be open to selling Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.}

1.) 29 Dec 2016 00:13:08
Thanks Ed.

2.) 29 Dec 2016 00:45:38
Can anyone tell me how that would make sense? He's a decent player, but do we really need to stockpile more attackkng midfielders? Unless of course he can also play left back 😏.

{Ed002's Note - He runs very quickly which is what Klipperty likes in a player.}

3.) 29 Dec 2016 00:01:58
I honestly can't see any reason to waste money on him. He's not better than anyone we have and Ojo is capable of filling in for Mane. Let him take his place on Man City's bench.

4.) 29 Dec 2016 00:53:41
I can't see him getting any more game time with us than he does at Arsenal, which wouldn't help his career. Doesn't make sense.

5.) 29 Dec 2016 02:10:43
I actually like him. think he's under utilized at Arsenal and provides a similar style like Mane.

6.) 29 Dec 2016 02:52:37
Dennis, Ojo is totally out of his depth at their level. Last season cameo he kept losing possession and his first touch is poor but he got hyped up anyway. Nope Ojo not had enuf YET.

7.) 29 Dec 2016 03:18:12
IMO, we need some experience up front. But I don't think OX is the correct person to do this, while Mane is away. We can have him on-loan though. "D.

8.) 29 Dec 2016 03:51:47
Ok time for £20mil + £1 bid.

9.) 29 Dec 2016 06:58:53
The media are linking us with every winger in the world because mane is about to leave for a month, just this week I've seen: draxler, Jesse Rodriguez, Ox, promes, I'm not sure any of them will be coming in and I'm not sure any of them would want to sit on the bench.

10.) 29 Dec 2016 07:17:42
OX is not an out and winger. He is more like the old Milner.

11.) 29 Dec 2016 09:44:21
Would you take him ed?

{Ed002's Note - No. And consider his injusry issues.}

12.) 29 Dec 2016 10:30:14
Exactly ed, can't believe no one else has mentioned his terrible injury record. I think he'd be a good squad player for us if it wasn't for that. We've had. Ore than enough injury prone players over the last few years!

{Ed001's Note - we should not be looking to buy squad players.}

13.) 29 Dec 2016 10:39:30
I wouldn't take him - injuries, underwhelming for Arsenal, would not be cheap and it bumps Ojo further down the pecking order. I don't know if Ojo is good enough as I never watch any youth football but I want him to be given a chance in the team to at least see if he can step up.

14.) 29 Dec 2016 10:48:48
But on the other hand he has PL experiance and can play play central or on either wing.

15.) 29 Dec 2016 11:12:02
Ox?

Cringe.

28 Aug 2015 16:56:41
Any more update on whether Texeira will get a loan move or stay and fight for a place, Ed?

Keith

{Ed002's Note - I have explained there is interest in him.}

09 Aug 2015 23:58:03
Eds, any truth in the rumour that Lucas has had a falling out with the club today and now wants out?

Keith

{Ed001's Note - he was dropped and is extremely unhappy about it as he had been blocked from moving in January with promises made by the manager, who has now gone back on them, again. This is not the first time for him to suffer like this at the hands of Rodgers, who just refuses to accept we need a defensive midfielder, so I can't see him staying much longer, sadly. He has been treated extremely badly by the club.}

26 Feb 2015 14:33:44
Anything on İlkay Gündoğan coming to us in the summer, Eds?

Keith

{Ed002's Note - Not going to happen, sorry.}

1.) 26 Feb 2015 22:09:03
Thanks Ed. Sorry I didn't see an earlier question on him, but I had searched for his name on here and no hits, so asked the question!

2.) 27 Feb 2015 13:33:45
Gundogans not been great since his return from injury. Real shame because in the season BVB got to the CL final he was incredible, dominated every game and was the best midfielder in the world imo.

Is he likely to leave this summer Ed002?

Cheers

{Ed002's Note - I suspect he will sign a new deal.}

If you're about Ed001, what's happened to Gomez, have injuries taken their toll?

Keith

{Ed001's Note - it takes time to come back from long term injuries and regular football. Until he gets that, we will not know if he is capable of returning to the level he displayed during our title season.}

1.) 06 Jul 2023 16:26:22
Thanks Ed, that was sort of my thoughts, but with Knonate and Van Dijk at the back, is that going to happen?

{Ed001's Note - the way van Dijk is playing, it is always possible he could get dropped if his poor form continues. Or there could be injuries to either. That is certainly always possible too.}

2.) 06 Jul 2023 16:37:53
Very true.

3.) 06 Jul 2023 17:03:02
Silly question coming but.
Does either klopp or even van dijk himself realise he's playing crap? And is klopp willing to drop him?

{Ed001's Note - van Dijk seems to be busy blaming everyone else. Klopp is loyal, he will give him every chance to recover his form, so who knows.}

4.) 06 Jul 2023 17:12:32
Inability to read the ball and pulling out of tackles is nothing to do with long term injury recovery.

5.) 06 Jul 2023 17:39:07
Gomez has ran his course with us! He’s had horrible injuries and when he does get back playing and has a blip he’s absolutely slaughtered he finger tip mob come out and say things that the devil himself wouldn’t say! He needs a move to further his career and get away from the abuse!

6.) 06 Jul 2023 18:33:55
@Billy, his injury not only had the obvious physical effect, it looks like it messed with his head too. Physically he is fit, otherwise the medical staff would recommend that he isn’t ready to play. The ‘holding back’ might well be the fear - albeit subconscious- of injuring himself again. It might also be one of the triggers for putting the blame on everybody else. The mind’s a funny thing. To be honest I think his very best playing days are behind him.

7.) 06 Jul 2023 18:43:08
Ed001 surely we need another CB mate as Matip and Gomez are made of glass, no way the other 2 can play most of the games without a break?

{Ed001's Note - I agree, and we need to offload Matip.}

8.) 06 Jul 2023 19:21:03
Ed01, I have said this many times about VVD. He needs to work a lot harder on his game and talk a whole lot less than he is doing now trying to defend himself for no reason.

IMO, he should use the credible criticism he is getting as motivation to shut up all the doubters who hated on him. Not sure if he is doing that now cos it doesn't sound like he is.

As for Gomez, I just don't know. For me I think it is all in his head cos sometimes, he just seems to make the wrong deccision and lacks awareness of what's around him and lacks that mean aggressive, streak he once had. Whereas we know he has the ability to drop a masterclass like he did vs City with Haaland at Anfield. I don't know, man.

{Ed001's Note - I don't like the comments van Dijk is making. Don't argue with Dutch legends, just concentrate on proving them wrong on the pitch.}

9.) 06 Jul 2023 19:38:30
Edd001 he made smug disrespectful comments last year about past current Liverpool players and to Gary neville of all people. Virgs attitude stinks. It even shows on the pitch at times.
When the Dutch past players even picked up on his arrogance which the British media wouldn't touch you know his attitude stinks.
He crys about criticism and trys to belittle those who criticise what's been truly some shocking performances.
That's what I don't like about klopp. How can you be loyal to such a player who's clearly in decline and had a very bad season. Virg definitely seems like he'll be a disruption to the team if dropped.

{Ed001's Note - his attitude is not impressive it must be said.}

10.) 07 Jul 2023 10:42:55
If we do drop VVD it won't be for Joe Gomez, surely.
He'll never be a regular centre half for us.

16 Sep 2021 22:38:40
Ed001, has anyone taken over Gini's old role of 4th choice captain?

Keith

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, sorry.}

1.) 17 Sep 2021 08:21:16
Ridiculous that we even had a 4th choice captain if you think about it! Anyway, i think it'll be Trent or Salah who wear the armband in the rare scenario where Milner, Hendo and Virgil aren't on the pitch. It's not really something that needs defining though.

{Ed0666's Note - if you want him to sign on the dotted line how about giving the armband to Salah on occasion?

2.) 17 Sep 2021 08:25:19
Sounds like a Dear Jurgen question, OP.

3.) 17 Sep 2021 12:13:28
I wondered the same MK, as Jurgen normally just gives it to the longest serving player on the pitch, so why have a designated 4th choice? Was it a team exercise or what?

4.) 17 Sep 2021 12:36:53
Rogers had 4 envelopes and Klopp has 4 captains.

29 Jul 2016 10:43:17
Happy Birthday ED001, hope you have one of the best days ever and thanks for all your input on this site.

Keith

{Ed001's Note - thank you very much Keith.}

07 Mar 2016 01:16:59
Firmino been added to the Brazil squad in place of Kaka!

Keith

1.) 07 Mar 2016 05:04:15
Kinda stupid he wasn't part of it anyways.

2.) 07 Mar 2016 13:15:40
A sponsor prolly put his foot down.

3.) 07 Mar 2016 13:24:46
he is only in because 35year old kaka is injured.

14 Feb 2016 17:25:33
Nice to see us score six today and keep a clean sheet and who cares who it was against, it's a win and 3pts! Well done Kolo on your first goal for the club too! Great to see the Sturridge dance again, first of many I hope.

Keith

1.) 14 Feb 2016 18:16:35
There are no easy games in the premier league.
Make no mistake, this was a brilliant performance.

2.) 14 Feb 2016 18:18:45
well said keith, also we scored from a corner!

3.) 14 Feb 2016 19:02:24
Oh but there are Ron.

4.) 14 Feb 2016 19:19:20
Well I didn't include Man Utd out of sympathy after yesterday but that really was an easy game for Sunderland 😜.

We all talk about who might be our next manager, it means nothing! There's even been talk of Klopp extending, so who knows.

Keith

{Ed014's Note - I heard United are in the market for a new manager! ?‍♂️?

PearlJam, you could replace Kostas with that LCB and go 3 at the back.

Ed, when you quite often say 3rd party, what does this usually mean?

Keith

{Ed002's Note - It would typically be an agent not directly tied to the player representing the family or player's agent when they are not licensed in the country of the club. In Germany, Switzerland and Austria there needs to also be an approved lawyer involved in transfers, and clubs typically use the lawyers associated with the agents handling their sale or have those they retain themselves.}

Surely it depends on the new manager's formation he (orshe) prefers, cos if he likes 3CB at the back, at least another one has to come in. If Kelleher decides to move on, another keeper will be found too.
