Hi, first time poster here, passing on what I’ve heard.

Gakpo will be sold but not until January. He’s seen as cover for left wing and striker. January we plan to move him on, interest provided. Will replace him with Bournemouth’s Rayan once his release clause becomes active, as Bournemouth will not sell this window. Ekitike will be back around then also.

Nunez links are wide of the mark. Only other attacking player to join will be Diomande. Then it will be a cdm, left back and right back; no centre back will be signed either (this window).

If any of the itks can back this up and verify these claims, would appreciate it as the person who told me this thinks he’s an itk

I wouldn't mind that. Feels strange that we would replace a LW with a RW, but as we have signed Munoz and both Diomande and Munoz can play either wing, it's not a bad thing.
Rio, Munoz, Rayan and Diomande would be quite the set of young and exciting wingers!

26 Jun 2026 18:04:22
Don't like the sound of any of that, to be honest! But thanks for sharing.

26 Jun 2026 18:28:00
£130m for Rayan in Jan. No chance we spend that.

26 Jun 2026 18:39:38
Tismikas will be the backup LB next season.

We will not spend £130m for Rayan.

If we can sign Barcola and sell Gakpo this summer, then it will be done.

26 Jun 2026 19:02:44
Keegans Purm,
You know for a fact that we won't pay that, or are you just jumping straight in there with a negative comment.

26 Jun 2026 19:22:51
I think Munoz has been signed to play more often than many people think. I may be miles off and he might end up as an occasional back up/super sub. But EUR40m is not typically the sort of money we would pay for someone to intentionally be a back up. Most of the time we spend EUR40-60m on a player, it's with the view to them being a regular first teamer, even if only as a rotational option (Jota, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Konate, Gravenberch, Mac-Allister, Mane, Salah, Firmino, Fabinho etc).

When we sign a player to intentionally be a bench warmer, it's usually in the lower band of EUR15-30m (Shaqiri, Minamino, Tsimikas, Klavan, Chiesa, Mamardashvili, Frimpong etc).

Time will tell.

26 Jun 2026 19:28:07
Nature of the market has changed, tbf, MK.

26 Jun 2026 19:31:10
Fair point, Taurus. Anderson going for £116-130m is mental. He's literally a £30m player if it's 2012.

26 Jun 2026 19:33:53
Sorry, Longthing, I didn't realise everyone had to have the same opinion on a rumours page. You think we are going to spend £130m on a rw option who then rotates with Diomande?

26 Jun 2026 19:41:25
Thanks for sharing, but several ITKs have reported that the club are open to selling Gakpo, and we're still pursuing Barcola, who is seen as his replacement if he goes. Also, we're on the verge of signing a rw for £100m+. There's a less than zero chance we're going to buy a second rw for £130m in January.

26 Jun 2026 19:42:44
Yeah, agree, MK. All bonkers. I mean, we spent £60m on Jacquet and, honest to God, I have no idea if he is good.

26 Jun 2026 19:54:28
Utter rubbish, I presume.... Barcola will arrive along with Diomande.... Gakpo will be gone.

26 Jun 2026 19:57:27
MK, if you're suggesting Munoz is being brought in to be a starter, I'd have to disagree. At £40m he's been brought in to play off the bench, obviously there'll be some rotation to relieve starters, but he's definitely been signed as backup, albeit as a young prospect who may kick on if he suits Iraola's high-tempo style. I think you're forgetting where the market is right now, Diomande's had 1 good season, and he's gonna cost 3x times as much as Munoz.

I don't see a world in which Munoz is a starter, the kids had 1 half-decent season in a team that barely avoided relegation; he didn't even hit double digits for goal contributions.

Longthing, Keegan's very much correct; we're about to pay £100+m for a RW, why in the name of Fowler would we buy another one for £130 come January?

26 Jun 2026 20:02:52
MK, I think you are right in a way, but don't get hung up on first choice/back up etc. We will end up with 6 or 7 attackers for 3 positions, who can play multiple positions, and will all get plenty of minutes. I expect Iraola to work his wingers hard and rotate them plenty.

The key is not to have too much drop off when you do.
Does Munoz make the C/L final team? Who knows, but I'm betting that he was bought with the idea that if he did, he wouldn't disappoint.

26 Jun 2026 20:13:37
I'm still hoping Nunez comes back.

26 Jun 2026 20:45:51
Chewy, I don't think we'll have a set XI under Iraola. It's too intense to play 3 games a week with the same XI every game. All I was saying is I think Munoz will start a fair share of games. It wouldn't shock me, for example, if he started about 25-30 games in all competitions.

26 Jun 2026 22:47:42
I get where you're coming from; if he's been brought in to cover multiple positions, and considering the likelihood of injuries, 20 starts isn't an unreasonable expectation.

26 Jun 2026 22:51:02
Taurus 01 - Don't worry about Jacquet, he's good, he's perfect for Iraola.

26 Jun 2026 23:15:07
I may have misread the op, but the dough says to me he was talking about an alternative to Diomande. If he's suggesting otherwise, that seems highly unlikely. Highly unlikely, but not impossible.

27 Jun 2026 00:18:59
@Keegan, setting aside the fact that the numbers may well be fictitious, the idea that something won't happen because you can't imagine it happening isn't necessarily true.
Wirtz and Isak were bought for more than £100m in one window.

A precedent has been set.

We look like we may well spend over £100m for Diomande, or at least we seem like we are willing to do so. Why not another purchase of over £100m if the club thinks that a player is worth it.

Prices, certainly for elite European teams, are being inflated by selling clubs because they know that the clubs have the financial muscle.

It might also be the case that FSG are 'moving with the market', 'speculating to accumulate', and / or looking to boost the profile of their asset. It's possible that one or more of the above might be accurate.

Either way, just because something hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it isn't going to happen now or in the future.

Just my opinion.

27 Jun 2026 01:10:17
Wdw Rayan has a buyout active from Jan 2027 of £130m. The club have been looking at players who can play multiple positions. We know Rio can play lw and rw, Diomande can play rw or lw, Barcola, if signed, can play lw and rw, Munoz can play lw and as a striker.

We also have Morrison and Abe, albeit young, who can play rw. We spent big on Isak, as the striker market for elite talent is limited.

27 Jun 2026 01:26:52
You are missing the point I'm trying to make, @Keegan, but that's alright, on the grand scale of thinks it doesn't matter and it's not worth pursuing.

27 Jun 2026 07:28:12
Price does not dictate if you play or not. It has absolutely nothing to do with it. Robbo £8m, Mo signed for an initial £37m. I'm pretty sure both worked out and played most games as starters. Munoz has enough ability to start if he puts the effort into training and making sure he understands what is being asked.

27 Jun 2026 07:49:15
If the right offer comes in for Gakpo, then he will be sold immediately. No interest in him even comes close to what LFC want.

27 Jun 2026 08:27:29
I think Munoz is being signed to play all across the front 3. He will start some, be an impact sub for others, adding depth and quality to the attack. Regardless of price, every player should have to earn the right to play. Simple as that.

27 Jun 2026 09:43:11
Diogo came in for 41 mill, I'd suspect Munoz is going to come in to play a similar role as our beloved number 20 did, starting a fair few games and coming off the bench in others, being pretty much the 4th option but a crucial part of the offensive unit nonetheless.

27 Jun 2026 09:56:26
It would be very amenable of Gakpo to go along with that.

28 Jun 2026 03:09:54
Would be surprised to see Ekitike back in January.

28 Jun 2026 05:44:24
@Faith, L'Equipe had an article a couple of weeks ago that Hugo's rehab is ahead of schedule, and that he is aiming for a Boxing Day return.
