Morning Gents
I've been told a bid of £110m for Barcola has been accepted.
Cheers.
30 Jul 2026 11:09:38
I guess we will wait and see. ???
30 Jul 2026 11:11:17
Great news. Thanks, Robbo.
30 Jul 2026 11:11:32
Thanks Robbo, great news. ?
30 Jul 2026 11:12:45
Nice 1 Robbo. ??
30 Jul 2026 11:14:53
Thanks for the update, Robbo, much appreciated. ? We hear this today. Hopefully a CB/RB, RW and DMF next.
30 Jul 2026 11:16:39
Cheers, Robbo. I know it's not my money but £110m sounds a bit more reasonable than the other numbers.
30 Jul 2026 11:25:57
PSG finally agreed their deal for Akliouche, so hopefully speeds things up.
30 Jul 2026 11:48:50
Tanks, Robbo.
30 Jul 2026 11:51:24
Vamos! Good new, Robbo.
30 Jul 2026 11:53:50
Ta, Robbo. Hopefully we finally get this over the line.
30 Jul 2026 11:55:21
Awesome news, Robbo, thanks.
30 Jul 2026 12:01:48
Thanks, Robbo.
30 Jul 2026 12:02:31
Hopefully it gets over the line.
Transfer fees are getting out of control. I wonder if the bubble will burst at some point...
30 Jul 2026 12:13:56
Great news, Robbo, thanks a million, or 110!
30 Jul 2026 12:19:46
That's great news! Be nice to get this one over the line asap and avoid any further delays.
Ta muchly, Robbo!
30 Jul 2026 12:39:59
Brilliant, cheers, Robbo.
30 Jul 2026 12:48:10
Hope it's something like £80m-£85m and add-ons to go to the £110m.
30 Jul 2026 12:55:47
Cheers, Robbo.
It's Richard Hughes working day tomorrow, so maybe we get another Friday announcement.
30 Jul 2026 12:56:22
Stop worrying about the money, Kloppiche. Transfer fees and wages have been obscene for the last decade. That will never change. I am just happy that we have good owners, are well managed, and they reinvest back into the club.
30 Jul 2026 12:58:41
Cheers, Robbo. Hopefully it gets done asap, and we move onto the other areas that need addressing before the start of the new season: rb/cb, cm and rw, and possibly a back up striker if Iraola doesn't think he can fill from within the current squad.
30 Jul 2026 12:59:56
Kloppiche, in a market where Morgan Rogers and Elliott Anderson are worth £116-117m, I really cannot see a world where PSG let Barcola leave for less than £100m. And nor should they. It's pretty clear English clubs have more money than sense right now.
Barcola is an acid tested Champions League winning quality winger, and 50% of his Champions League goals have come against Premier League teams, so it's not likely he'll suddenly start struggling against those same players!
30 Jul 2026 13:28:44
£110 million for someone of Barcola's skillset is insane to me.
Then, I look at the alternatives, and I realise what little else there is out there. We needed pace, and we got that in abundance in Barcola, even though the rest of his game is hardly top tier.
Just doesn't sit right with me.
30 Jul 2026 13:32:50
Hopefully true, so we can get onto other transfers.
30 Jul 2026 13:36:20
@Mango, His finishing is erratic, but he's a good dribbler and is technically sound. I'm sure he can work on the former. Remember, we were saying the same about Ekitike before he came as well. The French have talented youth who can all take people on, which is what we need. If he improves his end product, we have a player on our hands.
30 Jul 2026 13:39:09
It's not our money and the club have proven over many years that they know how to run a club financially, so just take it as we potentially have a great new player for next season.
My only concern is that we are still light on the right wing and overloaded on the left. Swapping Gakpo for a RW seems the most logical solution. One step at a time, I guess.
30 Jul 2026 13:42:17
Nice one, Robbo. It feels like next week will be pivotal for us transfer-wise.
30 Jul 2026 13:55:40
The icing on the cake would be talks between Madrid and Diomande to break down. Real Madrid is not the kind of club that will take dictation from anyone and get pulled into mumbo jumbo that works in other sports and in other continents. They're too advanced in the game to get fooled by people; whether they're run by Jay-Z or Julio Iglesias.
I never wish bad for anyone, but after reading about his agents' flirting and playing around with several teams at the same time and his having a new favorite every other week or so, I do wish for "what goes around comes around" to happen.
30 Jul 2026 13:59:49
Great news, in this market, I was concerned it would be north of £120.
30 Jul 2026 15:11:38
Fortunately it was south of the north that you imagined it might be, @Chewy.
30 Jul 2026 16:11:10
A risky, Edwards fantasy football
Signing, who would
have been good if signed from Lyon. As it is, he could be an average signing, imo.
30 Jul 2026 16:23:58
Nice one Robbo.
Seriously, tho, people moaning that he's not good enough are the same people that probably said Salah wasn't good enough before he moved to us. I'm not saying he's going to put the same numbers, but no doubt he will be an excellent player for us.
30 Jul 2026 16:55:03
West Derby, hang on 'til I get me compass out, mate!
30 Jul 2026 17:11:51
Kaka009, if you're suggesting we don't need a 42 G/A, 2x UCL & 3x time Ligue 1 winning Barcola because we have a 9 G/A, 21yr old Munoz who has just 1 season of top-flight football with a team that barely escaped relegation, I suggest you give your head a serious wobble.
30 Jul 2026 18:08:25
Cheers, Robbo.
30 Jul 2026 18:12:03
I really don't get why fans concern themselves with how much the club pays for players.
Whoever the club buys, give them a chance. If they are crap, then it's time to complain.
30 Jul 2026 21:21:56
@Lightsise, give it a rest, for a start, Edwards isn't at the club anymore.
31 Jul 2026 09:39:28
Any signing is risky, at any point in their career, a player can lose the love of the game.
Look, when Hazzard left Chelsea for his dream move and ended up having a terrible time.
At the same time, some players thrive in a new environment with different styles of players around them.
I am hopeful that Barcola is the latter, and being given more responsibility, he can stand up and be counted as a legend for years to come.
At this stage, though, hard graft and tracking back would be my priority. We want a team who will leave every ounce of energy on the pitch if we are to become successful again.
31 Jul 2026 09:55:35
MK Scouser, as much as I think you have been over-glazing Barcola a bit too much (lol), I fully agree with you. If the likes of Rodgers and Anderson (both of whom I rate) are going for those fees, there is no way PSG is gonna let Barcola go for less than 100m. That simply will not happen.
In addition, Barcola is more experienced and more accomplished than both players (and you can include Diomande in this boat, as well) in terms of Europe and internationally, so you can say that getting Barcola for that money makes sense, all things considered.
