Eds, hearing this morning that we could sign Amavi from Villa on loan with a view to a permanent transfer next summer, is this a possibility or has interest been dropped? Also, comparing him and Robertson, which do you feel would be the better signing? Cheers.

I think a loan with an option to buy for Amavi would be a great idea. He showed how much potential he has when he was fit. A loan would give him a chance to prove that fitness over the course of a season without us having to tie him down to a 4/ 5 year contract.
Robertson is a solid option to have and having Amavi at the club as well would provide competition that they both could thrive on.
I hope this is true.

My mate's a Villa fan and says he was great in his first season but struggled at times last, he feels he's a good player but not so sure his style of player is best suited to the English game.

Nothing's changed really but It's all a bit tight lipped at the moment all the players basically told to shut up, happy to see solanke there they've been mates for ages, been saying for months about TAA how much klopp likes him and I think he'll take clynes place, sooner or later and yet another new contract backs that up.

one is not sure if Amavi could switch to Liverpool on loan, because Klopp doesn not have a good record of signing players on loan. It is not foreseeable if Moreno did not move away from Anfield.

Faithinworks, not at all it's all about training and staying fit and creating bonds withing the team, friendship is quite important to klopp, they've got nothing to do with transfers well Joe certainly hasn't anyway!

Hearing City are close to signing Bertrand. What's this mean for Mendy then eds? Surely Bertrand is the alternative for City, so is there any interest in Mendy from any other clubs? Also, great work lately, on here every day checking updates!

Hi guys, just wondering if there's any interest in any either Mignolet or even Karius from anyone? Also if Manninger were to retire would there be a more senior goalkeeper signed for 3rd choice, or would Ward come in to compete for number 2? Cheers.

There is no way DW should be third choice, I forgot we even signed Manninger until he was mentioned recently! Hopefully Huddersfield will be promoted and he can go on loan again for a year.

I agree I think another loan for DW would be best for all, even better if it going to be a prem club and getting prem game time experience. According to the echo tho DW will stay at LFC next season and compete with mignolet and karius. Seems a massive mistake to me, I only see him as no3 next season which will massively stump his development.

Hi eds. Was watching the Leicester vs Atletico game the other night and noticed Jose Gimenez looked quite the defender, researched him today and seen a few posts about us rivalling Man Utd to get his signature? Any truth in this or just lazy journalism? Thanks guys.

German media: Goretzka will probably move to Barcelona. His agent talked to them in last summer.
Haven’t really seen him being linked with Liverpool (at least nothing in recent past in German media) . He has to decide his future in the next few months (Manager told him that he has till the end of winter to decide if he wants to renew his contract or leave in the summer) so there will be a decision in the next few months but it will probably be either Barcelona or Juventus.

Lads, I seen a post on twitter earlier regarding a melwood insider reportedly leaking that Liverpool are preparing a signing that will "blow away" fans (possibly rubbish) . I know it's unlikely, and you're all sick to death of answering VVD questions but surely in terms of "blowing us away" and after the circumstances with this deal in the past, surely this must be referring to Van Dijk as there's no one else with such a high stature rumoured to be linked with us; also considering that he apparently wants the Liverpool move desperately and will hand in a transfer request to do so. Reading this morning that Van Dijk has a verbal agreement that he'll join Liverpool if we can get champions league. Then also seeing that Chelsea almost have a done deal by offering cash and Andreas Christensen. Any further update on the situation? Or is this going to be summers transfer saga? Cheers eds!

I would hope we will sign a centre back although its not looking likely. The amount of goals we have conceded this season would suggest that our current crop of defenders aren't good enough. Which teams out of the teams challenging for europe would Klavan Lovren Gomez or Matip get into?
I think Matip will improve next season after having a season to adapt and Gomez is a promising young defender but the other two defenders just aren't quite up to it.

Let's not make things up buddy.
Besides, that is not with those 4 centre backs. Lovren and Matip have had long spells out due to injury or FIFA making a hash of things, and Gomez will be like a new signing next season.
I would've liked to replace Lovren in an ideal world with Gibson, Laporte, Nastasic etc. However it isn't going to happen so rather than moan at the players we have, perhaps we should look at the coaching and tactics and how they don't get the best out of the defensive options the current management staff chose.
