Alright Harry, just wondered how you felt now Liverpool have agreed a fee with Leverkusen for Wirtz and the transfer seems a mere formality now. Just a couple weeks after you told everyone to 'move on' as he's going to your beloved Citeh?
13 Jun 2025 11:39:31
Everyone who has ever hammered FSG for being too tight to spend big owes them an apology. Harry, Waro etc. All the nonsense posts about the Caicedo bid being for show have now been absolutely obliterated. We will spend if the right player is available and wants to come to us, and this is the ultimate proof.
13 Jun 2025 11:52:13
1 or 2 people eating humble pie, today.
13 Jun 2025 12:00:44
Fair play to Hughes and his team.
13 Jun 2025 12:02:45
Rome, I would say a few people have eaten so much humble pie they are now vomiting into their tin foil hats and anti-FSG/ Hughes banners (virtual online banners obviously, of course they don’t go to the actual games)
Up the reds.
13 Jun 2025 12:06:39
MKS, I don't think they need to apologise or anything like that. We have been spending big when we needed to and haven't spent big when not required. We can have disagreements on that and that is okay on a substantive level. It is the "Oh, it is just a PR tactic" or "They are sucking us dry" schtick that gets me. I mean, do these people know that they are projecting their own ignorance of the transfer process onto actual professionals who are experts and are well paid to engage in these ventures? It's as if none of this has ever cross their minds.
As for FSG, I have always kept is a buck in my assessment. They are doing what very successful business men/ investors do. They fund their asset (LFC in this case) on and off the pitch via transfers, infrastructure (something that was key to Wirtz joining), medical facilities, personnel in critical depts. based on their ethos and model in order to get the best bang for their buck and increase the value of their asset, something they have been VERY successful at. Success on the pitch leads to success off the pitch. It's that simple.
Under their ownership, the club doesn't take risks in the transfer market when not needed and do take risks when required cos VVD, Ali and now Wirtz are BIG risks. It is what they do and provided they get a lot more right than they get wrong (which they have, IMO) and make sure my club NEVER sees the threat of Administration EVER again like those two cowboys were ready to do to us years ago then, Im fine.
13 Jun 2025 12:12:05
Absolutely MK. I still have my reservations about spending that big on a player who has done well in Germany but you simply cannot criticise the owners for a lack of ambition.
This is a huge statement that will make the rest of Europe sit up and take notice.
Liverpool are once again becoming a dream destination for world class players and I for one am extremely excited about it.
13 Jun 2025 12:17:11
Hands up, I’ll have some Rome.
I expected the deal to fall through a few weeks ago with Real sniffing around.
Glad I was wrong, great news today ?.
13 Jun 2025 12:21:15
Fair play to FSG hats off to them.
They’ve never ever been involved in transfers before but by all accounts have done everything for this one.
Can’t wait to see Wirtz in action for us and if rumour of a top striker coming in then what a time to be a LFC fan.
13 Jun 2025 12:36:59
You're not wrong, Navy. I don't want to come across as smug, though it's hard not to, but I've been saying I would judge Hughes, and whoever else is responsible, at the end of the summer. I was always confident that his appointment was a good one, and the flak he was getting was over the top. It really is a fantastic time to be a Red, with perhaps a couple more players coming through the door and obviously a fair few going out.
Champions Champions Champions.
13 Jun 2025 13:09:24
Nobody owes anyone a an apology. these directors of football etc that's their job to do these things . in the past they could have done more esp when we were chasing Citeh. we needed centre backs at one time played hendo n fab there . so while they've actually done their job let's not praise them to much . not like they're doing it for fun. they're getting well payed . but ya no they let the judas run his contract down aswel. do we get an apology for that off them?
13 Jun 2025 13:38:30
It's not FSGs money that we are spending, it's ours. As in the money belongs to Liverpool FC. The owners have not done anything in terms of transfers, both in the past and present. The only time I recall them getting directly involved was in the VVD deal and that was because Southampton were threatening to report us for tapping him up.
13 Jun 2025 13:40:18
Are you Harry in disguise, Strom?
13 Jun 2025 13:43:59
It's ok not to praise them but are posters still calling them 'clowns', saying they don't know what they are doing and still wanting them sacked?
Well? ?.
13 Jun 2025 14:30:54
For crying out loud, some folk are never happy. The phrase "credit where credit's due" comes to mind.
Regards to Hughes "just doing his job", does that same rationale also apply to Alisson, Salah and Virgil?
13 Jun 2025 14:36:29
Good on you Ron ?.
13 Jun 2025 16:15:00
Bollox, to eating humble pie. He’s involved in signing a top player who by the sounds of it only wants to play for us. A rwb who has always wanted to play for us granted he may of swung the MK deal.
13 Jun 2025 16:22:40
Wirtz is a top signing, appreciate FSG.
Similiarly Caciedo was never 100m player and that bid still stinks.
When they do good, they deserve applause and when they do bad, they deserve criticism just like the team.
13 Jun 2025 16:24:09
Would you like mustard with your pie, scouse John? It will go down easier.
13 Jun 2025 16:33:32
Stromsgodset, did you have any fun this past season with us winning the title, the celebrations, the parade etc.?
Cos seriously, are you still whining about stuff that happened almost 5 years ago just to blame the owners for something they are not in charge of? We've won trophies since that 20/ 21 season up until another league title and you're still whinging about what happened during the lockdown season? Man, let it go.
No wonder you sound so bitter at times cos clearly, you're holding on to stuff that many a fan has moved on from.
13 Jun 2025 16:44:11
Rome. no but Harry is occasionally right. so all the people now thinking they're fantastic have short memories . a lot of the posters was nearly crying into their trent half n half scarves when we wasnt signing anybody a few years back n esp last year. including you Rome. so don't take the high road now eh.
13 Jun 2025 16:55:55
Oli go to an actual game before you climb back on your high horse.
13 Jun 2025 17:00:59
Nah your alright Rome, I’m not eating no pie.
13 Jun 2025 17:58:17
Oli I refuse to take advice from someone who never been a match, doesn't watch a live match or has never or hardly been to Anfield. iv been going to watch Liverpool home, Away n abroad since the late 70s . so forgive my laughing at you.
13 Jun 2025 18:01:29
Strom, as the old saying goes, a busted clock is right twice a day.
And let me respond to the other points you raise, if I may. I would rather sever my own genitals than wear a half n half scarf. I was never crying, and regards to Trent, I couldn't give a flying fish about him, and never considered him world class. Though I never booed him. If you can't find some satisfaction in what the owners are currently doing, go and support that shower down the East Lancs Rd. Now the owners there really would give you something to moan about.
13 Jun 2025 18:02:11
I agree, John - same here, mate.
Well said, Stroms.
There’s a strange sense of triumph from some, as if predicting a good transfer window somehow proves superior insight. Let’s be honest - no one knew how things would unfold. Some were optimistic, others, like myself had legitimate doubts. These subtle 'I told you so' posts don’t hold much weight when they’re based on guesswork.
And as for Hughes, I’m not about to dish out praise for someone simply doing the job they’re employed to do. Let’s not forget the criticism Nunez (an example) received for not scoring - it’s the same principle. When you're in a results based role, you're judged on output, not potential.
Of course, there's room for respect - for the role, for the effort but framing it as one group of fans being 'right' and the rest being 'wrong' is reductive and, frankly quite pathetic. This is an opinion based forum, and having a different view doesn’t make someone less informed, it just means they interpret things differently. And that’s perfectly valid.
And why are people mentioning about those who attend games? Just because some attend matches doesn’t give them a monopoly on insight. Fair play if you go to games but it doesn’t elevate your opinion above others’. Acting like it does is arrogant and completely misses the point of open discussion. We're all here because we care so let’s not pretend anyone’s opinion is worth more just because of where they’re watching from.
13 Jun 2025 18:17:34
Salah I say to you what I said to Strom, regards to Hughes just doing his job. He deserves credit for our current business, just like Alisson does when he pulls off worldies. It's not a case of people like me saying I told you so, it's a case of me saying I was going to reserve judgment till the window shut. We've pulled off a transfer for one of the best number 10s in the world. That is fantastic work by all those involved. I give them credit for doing so. If you don't want to, that's your right.
13 Jun 2025 18:18:39
Salah I’ve told someone to go to an actual game before continually talking down to others and I’ll stick by it.
13 Jun 2025 18:25:50
And Salah, you've praised Strom, yet he had a go at Oli for never going to games. You're contradicting yourself.
13 Jun 2025 18:33:41
I'm not contradicting myself at all, Rome. I posted that without having seen Strom’s latest comment - check the timestamps, there’s only a three minute gap, and I’m not exactly lightning fast at typing ;)
JK, that’s fair enough, mate - I’m not here to tell you how to post, and I never would. That’s kind of the point though, yes - you go to games, but why bring it up so often? It’s not just you either - I actually rate your posts quite often but there’s a pattern where some use it like a badge of superiority over others, and it really doesn't mean that.
13 Jun 2025 18:34:52
Rome . the crying in the half n half scarves wasnt really directed at you . it was to all the fans who don't seem to see anything wrong in what we do as a club sometimes, yea we are doing all the right things now n long may it continue, but that doesn't mask the huge mistakes we've done in the past so for a massive club like us, sometimes we act like a small one . n trent was my lil dig at the posters who adore him n see no wrong in what he's done n as for the go n watch n support the mancs . well the less said about that the better eh.
13 Jun 2025 18:57:36
Strom, I was on here during covid slagging off the owners for their stance on furlough. Our owners are far from perfect, and that was one example where they dropped an enormous one. They deserve massive praise, however, for turning Anfield into a 60k seater stadium and giving us one of the best training facilities in the world.
As for the East Lancs quip, let me retract that. I know you've followed us for years and we're of a similar age.
13 Jun 2025 19:14:10
Salah my post was extremely short mate so easily misconstrued with what I meant.
I have zero issues with anyone who does or doesn’t go to games and if anything I probably watch more of our games on tv than I attend also.
My issue is with someone who believes they are a super fan and can talk down to other posters while openly admitting they don’t even watch games live or pay anything towards the club.
The counter argument will be that I’m talking down to them but my reply is good. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander
Ps I also enjoy your posts mate. Yours and Rigsbys exchanges are entertaining.
13 Jun 2025 19:27:43
Rome . I'm 23 well in my head i am ha. we all the love the club . as salah says you can love them from afar . circumstances can only mean u can go say once a year . but its all opinions . so there is no animosity towards any posters who agree with me or not . I have my opinion, I'm old school . but iv followed us for years but since thr Liverpool v Spurs final in madred . iv been going less n less because of how the ticket system is n i won't pay over the odds anymore, shame really.
13 Jun 2025 20:08:58
I also love the Rigsby and Salah exchanges. Amusing. I would like to say I love your exchanges with Oli, JK, but he never responds!
13 Jun 2025 20:44:32
Because he loves to give it but can't take it Rome mate.
13 Jun 2025 22:28:40
"I refuse to take advice from someone who never been a match".
How original. Now, where have I read this pathetic excuse of a flex before? I just can't put my finger on it.
You're just one in a long line of smug, self entitled fans who think it's some kind of flex cos he goes to games his opinion owns more weight than those who support the club for decades but live outside the freaking country, let alone the city.
Go outside and go cut some grass, mate. Football is global now. Technology allows us to tape games on our cable box and watch them later if we have things to do. Or watch games on our phones when outside the country.
Lastly, NOBODY cares how long you and your ilk have been going to games. Tt will NEVER make your opinion any more valid than those of us who can't go to games from foreign countries. Most wretched flex ever.
13 Jun 2025 22:37:53

Amen, Salah. It's such a dumb flex that I have no idea how anyone can say this with a straight face as some kind of rebuttal to a an argument. The arrogance, smugness and sense of entitlement in such a naive approach beggars belief.
There is a nice bar I go to on occasion filled with LFC fans for the UK who watch Liverpool and support us and we talk footie, LFC etc. a lot. Go tell them that your opinion matters more than theirs cos you go to games and they don't and see how much you get laughed out the pub. Embarrassing.
14 Jun 2025 00:29:37
Oli . do you think a bunch of people in a bar abroad matter that much in the grand scheme of things in Liverpool . so let's go over your flex points . if rhe match going fans didn't go the games then the revenue will be down millions . so 3 generations of my immediate family have gone to watch Liverpool from the the 30s. that nearly 100 year of putting money in the club, going home n away. plus bfr it was 'global ' we used to get 60k plus crowds so we didn't really need global support . so if you think me following my home city home n away makes me a smug self entitled fan, so be it . its OK for you to pipe up n put your oar in over things ie trent etc when nobody asked you . I could go on . but I can't be arsed.

Oli everyone’s opinions matter whether they go to games or not.
It’s just you make out that your opinion matters more you wet wipe.
You don’t even watch games live on the tv as you claim you don’t have the time but watch them back twice which then actually takes double the time.
I honestly don’t believe you watch any of the games yet you’re on here constantly calling others out and them being trolls.
I once offered to get you a ticket and you went missing
Shows that you’re not really a fan but a troll yourself.
14 Jun 2025 08:47:26
Hahaha, I had a feeling! I just knew when I came back to this thread it’d either be JK and Oli going toe to toe again or Rigsby chiming in with the same old nonsense again. The eternal feuds - you’ve got to love them.
And cheers for the clarification, JK - I probably took it the wrong way mate, so my bad. I’ll blame it on the heat ??.
