With all the Isak talk the games being missed out.
What’s everyone think the result will be, I’m hoping our experience and better team will win it.

To be honest I just want the game out of the way. It’s been a tough start with all the emotion of the first game and now this one will be extremely hostile.
Their fans will be demanding maximum intensity and aggression from their players and I think they’ll get it.
I’d hope we get out of there with no worse than a draw but I’ll be happy when it’s over and we can get on with playing some football.

Isak not playing is quite important - Gordon isn’t a number 9 and should be comfortably handled by our defence. Don’t concede any set-piece goals, waste time as soon as Newcastle start getting any momentum (which we don’t do anything like as much as we should), point out all of Joelinton’s antics to the referee (every time) .
I think we win 2-3, but I don’t think either team would be too upset with a point.

I can't see Newcastle scoring tbh. They don't have anyone who can play in the centre effectively without Isak. Gordon plays best on the wing and he is isolated when played through the centre even though he does work hard. Same for Barnes, Murphy and Elanga.
The only way I can see them scoring is through a set play. Trippier has decent delivery and their CBs are big so we just need to be careful about giving away fouls in dangerous areas and we should be good.

Gordon is an excellent player in transition though, which is where we look the weakest right now. Besides their threat on the counter Newcastle are a very good pressing team, and we have to figure out how to get the ball up the field with their midfield being probably the best pressing midfield in the league. With wirtz and ekitike dropping deep and grav back I think we should have enough to deal with that problem though, here's hoping Flo has the game of his life tonight.

I just hope we don’t decide to put Danny Devito marking Dan Burns on corners and set pieces like we have done in the past.
Newcastle are probably more capable of creating and scoring than Palace and Bournemouth and we were at sixes and sevens against them at times.
I’m predicting a score draw but hoping we get all 3 points.

Agree EndoThePier, if the Newcastle midfielders start getting phyisical we need to make a meal of it and get them carded as soon as possible. We don’t really have the physicality in midfield to fight fire with fire, but get Joelinton and Guimaraes on early yellow cards and they’re treading eggshells the rest of the match.

I hate the over confidence “we will handle Gordon comfortably”. He’ll end up bursting past us with great haste now and causing issues.

Newcastle doesn't lose many at home and do ok against the big sides.
I'd take a draw but I'd like to see us keep a clean sheet. Go out and keep the ball or go long but don't let them press our defence and midfield into mistakes. It's what they do, they've done it to us before and we haven't looked solid at the back or in midfield, so far.
Play like champions, quieten the crowd and take a point if we have to.
I can't be doing with 3-3s and 4-3s.

I think we'll struggle. As we saw in the Bournemouth game we can get bullied at times and a hostile St James with their thuggish midfield is going to be a challenge.

my punt is that there will be 4-5 goals shared between the two teams, Joelinton will try or actually injure someone and our supposed struggles will once again be highlighted as we work to integrate the new system and players.

Its going to be a tough game . they are strong in midfield, hopefully we don't get dragged into a scrap with the likes of Joelintom . think we need to score early to shush the crowd then play our football. going for a 2-0.

Be interesting to see if Slot try’s something different. We saw all last season in the (few) games we lost it was down to the midfield being either bullied or outplayed. Newcastle was one we struggled against.

I do worry our defence hasn't been great recently and they are a good counter attack side. I'm hoping for a solid 2-0 win but I will take a point.

We got a point at Sid James Park last season on our way to becoming champions.
Not many teams- even champions- beat Newcastle three nil at home.
