I have a suspicion that something might happen with Konate, just a hunch.
Not sure on Hincapie though, purely as he is a LCB and I don't see VVD missing many games (touch wood! )
Although having 2 right footed CBs is quite normal, would it be odd to have a left footed RCB and right footed LCB?
With Guehi coming in, I could see us just running with VVD, Guehi, YLFP and Gomez as a utility, at least until Jan.

What makes you think that @Ginger?
You could possibly argue that having a 16y/ o as backup is weaker than having Diaz but the kid is an absolute gem and Wirtz and Ekitike can both cover the left if required.
Through the middle we are so much stronger. Most teams dream of having 2 players like Isak and Ekitike as options and behind them we have Chiesa who can cover (and even Danns if needed) .
On the right it is as you were last season but Chiesa is fitter than at any point last year and Frimpong can also cover the position.

I think people are getting a bit distracted because Hincapie and Hato can play left back as well as left centre back.
From what I’ve seen of both players they are not good enough for us. Just because they can play a position that might be handy doesn’t mean they can play it to the standard we need.

I don’t think I could “possibly” argue that.
I can argue that.
Diaz is a better footballer than Rio.
Diaz was very important to our season last year, he wasn’t “back up” he was instrumental.
For the 3 attacking positions we’ve went from having 6 options (Chiesa the 6th option) to currently having 5 (Chiesa now the 4th option) . If Isak arrives that will obviously change.
Chiesa was a player that Slot didn’t trust last year and which he will now have to trust this year.
The strength in depth will be lesser this coming season which is needed to contest a season over 50/ 60 games.
Completely agree we are much stronger thru the middle. That I’m not worried about. It’s options wide that I am worried about.

My thought is if Konate were to go, it would be in January. Gives the club a chance to look at options and to lay the groundwork for a new incoming.
I am not ITK, IKFA, just a feeling.
