Time for an unpopular opinion. Wirtz is going to be as good in the premier league as Havertz.

Hope I'm wrong.

Someone is looking for some attention.

I remember when Salah signed we had posts like this.

I had my reservations about signing Wirtz purely because we’ve had our fingers burned by signing ‘the best player in Germany’ before with Keita and Thiago.

However, just by watching Wirtz for 4 games in a Liverpool shirt you can clearly see he’s has 100 times the talent of Havertz.

You can’t even compare the two it’s like comparing Kobe beef with a McDonald’s burger.

He’s not fit enough yet hence him getting cramp against Arsenal but I’m very confident he will be a superstar once he gets up to speed.

No hope needed. You are wrong.

Three games in and people are already writing off one of our most exciting players. Gobsmacking.

Ive read some dumb takes but this post sets the bar real low. Clueless troll.

Havertz played in Germany as a 10 I believe. Was then shafted in as a striker/ false 9 for Chelsea and now Arsenal.

Wirtz will be some player when he settles into the team . its a tough league, faster n more intense than what he's use to. his first touch is perfect n you can see what he's trying to do with the ball.

It really isn't about his ability, it's about how we can adjust the shape and balance of the team to allow him to get on the ball where he wants to. Lately he's been having to drop very deep to get on the ball, he's had to do a lot of thankless running in the false 9 position when Hugo has dropped into midfield and he's had to do a lot of chasing off the ball when we lose the ball in transition.

This is not to say that we don't want him to drop deeper to create overloads in midfield or shifting into the false 9 position when that space is available, but we want him getting on the ball more in that left half space where he is most effective. Also it is very clear that our attacking play is more freeform than it used to be and positions are not as clear-cut as they were last year.

That freedom comes at a price, especially in transition, and Slot needs to find an answer to that so that all of our players aren't sprinting back trying to chase the play when we lose the ball. However, once we find that balance between chaos and structure and Wirtz becomes the lynchpin of that free-flowing attack (which will require an intuitive understanding between our frontline reading and reacting to each other's movements) it will be devastating to watch.

People judging Wirtz for errors he's made in execution over the last three games are kind of missing the forest for the trees, I understand that panning him makes for sensationalist headlines that generates clicks, but doesn't allow us to understand his place in the grand tactical scheme of Slot's design and where we're heading as a team with Flo being at the heart of it.

But I want it NOW! ??.

TB2, Bigly. Must not be getting any of it at home.

@OP, seems like the voice of the silent majority has spoken.

09 Sep 2025 20:21:26
I didn’t want to stay silent as the OP, and I am not trolling. The reason for my statement is that I see with Wirtz, Havertz and others, that sometimes they look great in a system which plays to their strengths.

Liverpool have many star players, and Wirtz has to adapt rather than the whole team change to suit him.

I can see he has a great first touch, and I can see he is trying to be very progressive with his passes, but right now he looks a little shocked and surprised by having so little time on the ball.
