Yeah, I would be surprised if Palace and Liverpool aren't already talking about the conditions of a January move for Guehi.
We have also been strongly linked to Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, who I think Palace wanted to replace Guehi.
The system we use now means our CBs are not constantly making huge sprints, which I think has helped with managing injuries to date. And we have seen that Endo and Gravenberch are adept at stepping into the CB role if needed.
Finally, Bajcetic couldn't have better opportunity to impress Slot and force himself into the conversation - whether at DM or CB. If he's not motivated by this, then he's clearly not made for Liverpool!

Literally is no reason to panic. We have Virgil, Konate, Gomez, Endo, Robertson, and Bajcetic able to play CB. Gravenberch can too but I wouldn't want to take him out of the midfield to be honest. It was always likely one of the CB's would pick up an injury. I think we all just assumed it would be Gomez!
On a positive note, Chiesa has started the season like a man determined to knock down Slot's door with a wrecking ball and get more games this season. He can now be added to the Champions League squad. I'm sure he'll also be an older brother figure to Leoni throughout his recovery process, as he's also been through a major knee injury operation and rehabilitation.
3 away wins coming in the next 8 days I hope. Palace without Eze, Chelsea without Palmer, and I'd like to think we can beat a full strength Galatasaray in Turkey too, although that will be an absolute cauldron of noise!

And if we don’t, don’t lose sleep over that either lol.

MK, you're scraping the barrel with Endo, Robertson and Bajectic playing CB for any length of time. Even Gomez concerns me, if he has to step up. With respect, have you seen Bajectic play there?

Bacjetic was originally a CB.
26 Sep 2025 18:43:33
Maybe he was, Red Jones, but as anyone seen him play a run of games there? I certainly haven't, and I'll stick my neck on the block and say he won't play there for us.

Arne speaking of Stefan pre-season (this is anfield. com)
"I hope it will be a big year for him, because he's a very talented player, and i think he could become a very important player for us, if he fulfils his potential he could definitely plays for us in the future"
Stefan needs a break to go his way with his injuries, also when he joined red bull salzburg on loan firstly last season Pep Ljinders was the coach then till sacked around last new year, he would **** anyone up with his "Inte-SH! tty", he couldn't run a Bath Ljinders thank **** he's at man cheaty.
Let's all see what he can do for the first team when and if he is ever fully fit, you could liken him to be in the same fitness shape as when Federico arrived last year, who arrived as being in the fitness shape of an old Carthorse, he's now a throughbread "Racing Horse" in terms of match fitness and rapidly reaching his peak performances when he was in his pomp and ruling europe, perhaps Stefan if given a chance can follow in his steps or equally Hoofs!

Only for our academy Rome1977, however I’m not sure Endo can be considered scraping the barrel as he’s played more career games at CB than he has in midfield (about 200 CB appearances I think) . Robertson and Gravenberch it is definitely not their primary position but Slot trusts them there, and I trust Slot.
Bajcetic and Endo however, were brought up through their respective youth systems as CB’s and I think at least Endo will be capable if called upon between now and January. Bajcetic apparently played a few games at CB last season but I’ve admittedly not watched any of his games from last year so I’ve only seen him play CB about 5 times many moons ago. But it was once considered his main position.
Virgil, Konate and Gomez should be enough anyway to see us into the winter transfer window. People are perhaps still wounded by that crazy season from 2021, but most teams only have 4 CB’s and one invariably gets injured at some point. It shouldn’t incite a mass panic.

Did we sign Endo as a CB ?
27 Sep 2025 02:42:06
So what if we didn't, WDW. The window is closed now and we have to make do with the players we have until it opens again. Endo and Baj can play there in a pinch, and so can Grav and Robbo. I am quietly confident thar we'll get in a CB in Jan but until then, there's only so much we can do.

In fairness the majority of Endos appearances at centre back were in Japan where the average target man strikers are around Danny Devito’s height.
I’m not to sure but I believe Slot has used Grav at centre back more than Endo over the last 13 months in the league and CL at least.
I wouldn’t necessarily want to see either of them there and if they are then it’s pretty last resort.
In regards to Bajetic the talk of was building our future midfield around him. I’ve never seen the lad at centre back but I’d probably be more confident with him there over Endo.
Saying that though if Endo was asked to play there then he’d give it his all. But at this level sometimes that’s not enough.
27 Sep 2025 07:51:44
Gomez has always been good every time he's been called upon to do a job at the back. One bad performance and everybody is saying he's not good enough for us, bit ridiculous really.
27 Sep 2025 08:06:17
If any of those players play center half then slot will tweak the system in and out of possession to compensate for any weaknesses they have. It's not like we have to play the exact same way if endo or konate are in there, that's what we have a coach known for his adaptability for. Sure it might not be his ideal system but every team needs to find a solution if players get injured, and slot is one of the best in the world in that respect.
27 Sep 2025 12:04:05
Exactly, PB. You play with the options you have at CB. That's it. This ain't rocket science. Klopp used to do it cos I remember him playing a back 3 at Brighton with Can and Gini at RCB and LCB with Lovren in 17/ 18 and won 4-1. You got to find solutions to issues that you did/ could not plan for. This is where the manager makes his money, not when everyone is fit and firing.
Complaining and being scared of a situation you can't change (Guehi's being stopped from moving and YLFP ripping his ACL) is just a waste of my time, personally. We are going to have to improvise at CB till we can make a change. In Jan, perhaps.
