Beyond the managerial merry-go-round I think we have deeper problems.

When Klopp was leaving, the squad quit on him, I remember Salah visibly remonstrating at Klopp on the touch line before coming on as a sub.

When Slot came in and Salah was making noises on TV about wanting a new contract there was a bounce. Then new contracts were signed for Salah and Virgil and the team has dropped off since then.

This squad of players has big problems. It needs major surgery. Players who down tools need to be sold. It’s one of the reasons I was wary about signing Isak, a player who downed tools to get a move.

There is a problem at the heart of this team, heroes of yesteryear need to be moved on and the team needs new energy and a fresh approach.

Sorry Mo and Virgil, your time is up.

Didn’t someone on here say slot wanted to get rid off mo and vvd at the start of the season maybe slot was right if so.

There are fundamentally no leaders left.

Also, when you had the likes of Bobby, Sadio, Hendo, Robbo and Milner they all put a shift in each and every game. They made the games difficult for opponents.

Now we are so easy to play against.

The squad didn't quit on Klopp when he announced he wanted to leave. I replied to this on another thread down below but Klopp announced he was going to leave in Jan. We had our run of bad form that season in April. We even won the league cup in between that.

On the contrary, I think the players went above and beyond to try and give Klopp the proper send off that season. We were leading in the league and were gunning for another quad that season before imploding.

I hate this idea of losing the dressing room. As if the players don't like the manager they can just not put the effort in. They should be always putting in 100% effort, and if the managers tactics don't work let him be sacked because of that.

I'm torn because I want Slot to turn it around, I don't believe Slot can't see the issues we have.

But this every passing game it's the same stuff, and it's getting to the point where it looks almost too bad to turn it around.

I think people are writing off VVD to early, he has been pretty poor the last few games but he's still our best defender by some way. The handball whilst reckless can happen, what is he supposed to do when Konate just runs through and misses the ball.

OK Ron there time is up? What players are stepping up to their level? We didn't buy their replacements and we have noone in the squad anywhere near the level they gave us last season. I agree both are struggling but the club rewarded them because of what they gave last season. You're seriously underestimating the dip in quality in their positions from them to?

27 Nov 2025 13:21:03
Dom should be captain. He is leading by example.

27 Nov 2025 13:30:30
Ron and Wassa, you make interesting points. The players have a lot to answer for, for our present plight. But, as we all know, it's the manager that carries the can. I wasn't at the game last night, but I've been in the minority on here who's said he needed to be given more time and I didn't want us to become another Chelsea. However, my opinion is now starting to shift. Our problem is, we do not have a Klopp or Ancelotti to choose from, like we did when we sacked Rodgers.

The difference between this and the Souness era is, the squad we have now is far superior, which makes it all the more unfathomable and hard to take.

I agree with what Carra sais about Mo only talking when he's MOM or in need of a new contract. He is an individualist.
The time as come for a complete rebuild, yes but Mo, VVD and Ali are pretty much irreplaceable and so maybe we need to revert to a more workmanlike set up.

Batman - Semenyo and Guehi seem to be the popular names but Bastoni instead of Guehi for me.

Guehi can replace Konate.

@Dracred

In late January 2024 when Klopp announced he was leaving:

Top of the league, last 16 of the Europa, 4th round of FA cup having knocked out Arsenal in R3, finalists in the Carabou.

In May:

3rd in the league, 9 points behind City, out of the quarter finals of Europa, Out of R5 of FA cup vs Man U, lose Carabou final to Chelsea.

They quit.

27 Nov 2025 14:29:05
They’ve downed tools in the past. But this is unprecedented. To lose basically every single game is a disgrace.

27 Nov 2025 14:48:18
Lose Carabou Cup final to Chelsea? I must have been living in an alternate reality to you, I remember us winning it? ?.

27 Nov 2025 14:54:48
You clearly didn't read what I said when I said they imploded in April. At the end of March we were still top of the league. It was an awful run in April thay derailed our season. We ran out of steam. The players didn't down tools. If we had downed tools when Klopp announced that he was stepping down, we would have seen the season derailed immediately.

We didn't. The players continued playing at a high level for another two months after that and we even won the Carabao Cup during that period.

27 Nov 2025 14:58:13
Ron - I could replace Konate and I’m in my 50s and seen better days. ?.

27 Nov 2025 15:06:23
Rome 1977, I'm glad you're starting to see the light. For me the writing has been on the wall since the Palace 0-3 at Anfield. No Liverpool manager should be throwing games deliberately. We just need to convert Robboslostlegs now!

{Ed025's Note - Robboslost legs have been amputated for a while MK..

27 Nov 2025 15:32:03
Makes me shudder to think what happened to Beckers Pecker then Ed ;)

{Ed025's Note - his pecker withered with the cold weather i think Drac.. :)

27 Nov 2025 15:36:41
I too was disgusted with the Palace game, MK, as I was with the Plymouth game.

I'm afraid and concerned that we will continue to rant on here, because the decision will be to continue with Slot, so buckle down, there's a lot more bumps to come.

27 Nov 2025 16:42:19
Rome1977 and MK are probably two of the least reactionary posters on here, so I don’t think they’re saying it lightly or flippantly.
