Can I ask someone who may know more about legal processes than me?

City keep talking about irrefutable evidence, surely that was for the hearing? But they are still talking about this irrefutable evidence that will clear their name.

The arrogance of these lot is off the charts, they do not care one bit for the rules, they will drag this on for years and years.

29 Sep 2026 20:37:41
And boom it comes, read Romanos new post. They will wriggle out of this, they've had it up their sleeve since the start.

29 Sep 2026 21:22:43
OK! What are you on about? Their "irrefutable evidence" was already submitted and denied, they've got nothing up their sleeve.

29 Sep 2026 21:35:21
The appeal before another independent panel. Will not hear new arguments or new evidence from City or the Premier League. They will look at the decision made, the position the panel took on the legal arguments put forward by both sides and look if the rationale provided by the panel in making the decision and the evidence they used was correct. It's more about procedural, and looking at the decision made rather than a new trial or re-hearing of the case.

Honestly based on the wording of the judgement I struggle to see how an appeal will be successful.

There is the potential for them to try and take this to the high court but that would be after a further appeal hearing and sanctions decision.

29 Sep 2026 21:35:30
Yeah my bad I heard an interview that I thought was after the judgement (I have had a couple beers after golf)

29 Sep 2026 22:00:10
Whilst an appeal against the findings is anticipated, it carries low prospects of success. 0pportunities for mitigation will be minimal; the appeal panel is likely to give significant weight to aggravating factors, particularly the persistent denial of liability and failure to cooperate with the investigation. Consequently, severe sanctions are expected.

29 Sep 2026 22:04:10
As I understand it even if they go to the High Court it would not be for them to ascertain whether they cheated or not but more that City would claim that the Premier League's process was flawed or as they put it 'partisan'.

They are guilty of cheating. That much is certain given the statement released by the Premier League today. City will try to get away with it on a technicality as they did when they were found guilty of breaking UEFA's rules.

Their owners really have no shame and are an embarrassment to the club. The fans should be up in arms and screaming for them to be removed.

29 Sep 2026 22:26:58
What I want to know is. If I Lied and said my Formby window cleaning business made a billion pound more than it did, I'd be banged up in jail

So why Isit different from a football club? Which is essentially a business. Why are we talking point deductions, and not prison time?

29 Sep 2026 22:30:19
"Irrefutable evidence". City are trying to use Trumpian / US legal practice where the person with the deepest pocket wins -
by essentially playing poker. I am pretty sure this case is subject to UK law - but it is still difficult to win a case if the opponent is willing to use process to see you out financially, with endless appeals etc.

The complication here is that, in my view, the judgements against City are strong enough to bring a criminal case for fraud if the Crown so wishes. That would obviously delay the outcome for many years.

For the good of the game, I hope both parties can reach an accommodation: City to pump back significant funds to all the clubs it faced, and receive a year on year points deduction - one that pushes it back a league or two for a couple of years, without destroying the club, nor destroying UAE's investment in Manchester as a city (which is actually really important).

29 Sep 2026 22:41:18
It's just legal-speak.
Continue to deny everything until you have no more avenues to explore and then accept the decision.
Hope their lawyers make a packet from them.

Why are we not talking prison time? Probably because the offenders are not British and we have no jurisdiction over them.
However, they can be declared unfit owners, which will bankrupt City.

29 Sep 2026 22:48:36
Rio most City fans are still not having it mate - you got to understand where the club was before the bandits came in - for all their lives they've had to listen to United fans taking the absolute p**s out of them, but since the bandits they've had their day in the sunshine and they've been living the dream - bursting that bubble is not something they are ready for, I've got loads of mates who are City fans and they're convinced their going to get off ha.

Majority of fans I know don't think they've done anything wrong and the owners only bended the rules because the rules are stupid and they're only in place because Us, United, Arsenal and Chelsea are just jealous and don't like them winning ha - they're deluded mate, I've not heard one person even mention the owners should be gone - crazy times.

29 Sep 2026 22:57:07
There's very very limited grounds on which to take the matter to the high court and courts don't tend to get involved or make determinations on this as they tend to protect the rights of sporting bodies to make rules to protect sporting integrity.

As for the evidence, the high court won't be interested.

And as for an appear, one would need exceptionally good reason to introduce evidence which was reasonably available at the time. City are trying to obfuscate and frustrate the process. As usual.

29 Sep 2026 23:03:27
People forget that those rules were put in place to prevent the explosions that were Leeds Pompey and nearly us from happening again, because one more might have taken the Premier League with it.

29 Sep 2026 23:06:14
Another reason most City fans aren't kicking off with the owners: When Sven was signed as their Manager at the time he had won more trophies as a Manger than the club had won in their entire history.

The Bandits have pretty much made all their dreams come true, and they can't yet bring themselves to admit it's all been a bad dream.

{Ed666's Note - And they know the owners will carry on the appeals process and this process will go on for years to come so there won’t be any immediate sanctions. This will go to the high court.

30 Sep 2026 00:42:25
City can't argue that they haven't cheated but they can argue that the rules are unlawful. If they go down that route then I imagine they could be suspended from the EPL.
The courts would have to be pretty stupid to agree with City but English courts have been known to be exceptionally stupid in recent times.

30 Sep 2026 00:01:30
100% Ed - the general consensus seems to be "the owners will sort it, don't worry about it" genuinely haven't heard one City fan say anything negative about the owners, insane times.

30 Sep 2026 00:09:51
It simply cannot carry on for more years. City owners are criminal gangsters. Get them out of the Premier League immediately. I will contact Lisa Nandy to get this sorted asap.

30 Sep 2026 01:35:23
Monstersouness, criminal charges would be a totally separate case, and have no bearing on the league's decision to sanction or the length of time it takes to process.

30 Sep 2026 02:48:02
Provided the timelines of the two cases don't overlap. City will appeal, which should technically be concluded early in the new year, that decision will be final and sanctions should be handed down in the summer.

City can chance their arm in the high court, and will, they will have to build a case on some pretty ridiculous arguments, though, bias, conspiracy, unlawful process, etc. They could of course get a stay and delay the sanctions, but considering the number and type of charges, I can't imagine they'd have a strong enough case to actually pull that off.

30 Sep 2026 08:47:07
It's damaging the game. City is damaging the game. The Premier League anyway.
Irrefutable evidence, conspiracy theories and false accusations, terms used by Soriano, just show arrogance and that they think they are bigger than the PL.
It's no wonder people have had enough of football; or the PL, at least.

30 Sep 2026 09:24:24
I think this will be wrapped up quickly now.

The delays turned out to be down to City appealing early (which was rejected), so this verdict will be final, with very little scope for further appeal.

It will end for the PL soon, but the nightmare is just starting for City.

30 Sep 2026 09:46:08
It'll go beyond football this when city threaten other contracts and trading deals with the uk.

Can see it all coming.

30 Sep 2026 09:46:51
The second the owners of Manchester City started talking about a conspiracy, it just show how desperate they are. If they truly did believe they were innocent, nobody would of claimed conspiracy.

30 Sep 2026 09:08:55
Mentioned a few days ago why this is happening. Was probably not for the football pages. If there is a political page on here i can post an in depth piece on why abudhabi family is being hit from all sides possible.

30 Sep 2026 11:09:04
Just so I understand . how do the PL, as the people managing the oversight, governance and management of the league miss a discrepancy of £ 830, 000, 000?

City should just be expelled from the PL and not even considered to be allowed back until their ownership is completely replaced.

The PL management need to overhaul the way in which they apply fitness and probity checks for people or entities being allowed to own and execute operational management of PL clubs and clubs promoted from FA controlled leagues.

Anybody in a senior management PL position covering the period 2013-18 should be shown 5he door with a polite request not to let it hit their backsides on 5he way out.

Trying to wheedle their way out out culpability or penalties by ignoring the fact they are guilty as charged but by trying to claim the process proving their guilt is questionable is just unacceptable - they are lying cheats and I'd love to be in Liverpool in a couple of weeks to 'welcome' them and express my opinion of their worth.

30 Sep 2026 11:22:03
Lastfanofslot, what do you need a political page for? Just post it, clearly it's relevant.

30 Sep 2026 13:26:27
You have to see the overall picture. UAE by all means is a safe haven for a lot of money of wealthy people. (Especially Russian money)
And that safe haven is being attacked from all sides. Its all part of the larger events that have happened worldwide.

Abu dhabi has denied all requests from west to freeze any money and sanction any persons: institutions so now they are facing a simulated attack - first on their sovereignty and second on their global most recognisable assets.

30 Sep 2026 09:04:59
Ed666, City got nothing. They are arguing on process grounds rather than the actual evidence and facts of the case. That's all you need to know that they got nothing.

Just so we are clear. In the media and the public sphere is where all this posturing, grand-standing and OTT propaganda garbage speak that means sweet f-all that City is engaging in, can work and distract to confuse people esp. their feckless fans who have drank the "we have irrefutable evidence" koolaid.

Once you get into a court, judicial proceeding or legal/civil panel like the one the PL put together, none of the above garbage is going to work. At that point, it will all be about the evidence and the facts of the case. Period.

This is where City have been busted for real and their fans may find this funny.

But imo, their punishment will not be.

{Ed666's Note - I’m just merely pointing out that don’t expect anything to happen anytime soon as this will go to the UK high Court and it could be a very long time before there is any clarification. They have the best barrister(s) and lawyers known to man and I just think we should expect the unexpected at the appeal court. I’m not saying they will overturn all the charges and there won’t be sanctions but anything can happen in an appeals court.
