Hi Ed01, would the rumoured departures of Hughes and Edwards affect Alonso's decision to join us? Or any coach to join us. I mean surely any prospective coach would want to know who he is working with and under before agreeing to take on the project. Thanks.
{Ed001's Note - I would think they would see it as a chance to get more power for themselves.}

Can't remember the last time I saw the fan base so unified. Is a pity it's because our manager is so cack 🤣.
24 Mar 2026 18:01:14
Probably as unified as Iran and Israel, Taurus!
24 Mar 2026 18:31:56
I can, it was about 11 months ago when Liverpool won the league. The fan base seemed pretty unified then.
24 Mar 2026 18:38:59
I still cherish that time, Arnie. Champions, Champions, Champions!
We can still chant it.
24 Mar 2026 18:47:17
Not in these dark times, Rome, it's not the time for joy.
24 Mar 2026 18:50:05
I'm too embarrassed to chant it currently.
24 Mar 2026 18:58:30
I forget myself at times, Florian. Need to get back in my hole of misery.
By the way, Salah is leaving end of season. No surprise to any of us.
24 Mar 2026 19:01:08
Bad and all, as we believe Slot has become, he still has achieved what Arteta hasn't. So we should shout our Champions chant loud and proud until the time comes that we aren't anymore.

Afternoon chaps, hope you’re keeping well. Apologies, I’m only on a weekly appointment for Player X’s windows. He used to be fortnightly job until I convinced him to stop being a cheapskate.
He did say the boys were confidence ahead of Gala tbf. Shame we couldn’t back it up at Brighton - sadly wasn’t surprised.
Anyway, had the usual debrief after a polish and dry yesterday. He makes an absolutely god awful brew. Lucky I’m not that fussy.
He said Slot will still be here after the break. Because the eggs are in the CL basket. Everyone acknowledges the PSV night was seriously bad. But it came in a bad run and apart from that, our home form has been good in the CL.
Can Anfield power us to Budapest? This team on its own can’t but the crowd really is an extra player if we can survive our away legs.
He told me that if the club makes the CL, summer 26 is another big one with Six first team additions expected. Left back, centre back, right back, central midfield, left forward, right forward. I told X I still think we need another one, maybe two on top of that. He knows I’m delusional though. I said I’d replace him 😉…. Then he said he’d replace me. That’d be the end of my posts on here.
For now I’m alive and kicking. And cleaning.
Cheers.
24 Mar 2026 18:45:06
Leoni, Jaquet, Virgil plus 1 would see us well stocked at cb. I don't see what other positions need to be addressed. We've seen the difficulties this season of so many new additions. So, 6 looks to be a good number, depending on out-goings.
24 Mar 2026 16:46:48
Hello Reds. Long time lurker, first time poster, so take it easy on me. I’ve just read a post on here saying Isak will be a flop. I think that’s a bit premature considering he has barely featured, and when he has, I don’t think he has been fully fit considering what went on in the summer.
A fit and firing Isak is one of the best strikers around. Could we see Isak and Hugo in the starting 11 or would we rotate them?
24 Mar 2026 17:03:51
Both for me.
24 Mar 2026 18:18:16
Most sane people would think it's a bit premature.
24 Mar 2026 18:49:48
I think in hindsight it would have been better to sign him this summer rather than last lol.
24 Mar 2026 19:09:07
I was never a fan of the Isak deal, for me it was too much money for an injury prone player, it was always an accident waiting to happen for me. Nothing against the lad, he's a great finisher, but he's made of spit and Kleenex. I just don't like bringing in players who have a poor injury record, or need minutes managed.
I'm also guilty of saying that I think we've seen the best of him. The transfer was nothing short of an ordeal, the whole thing stunk of Torres to Chelsea from the get-go, and by the time he gets back to playing proper, regular football, he'll have been sidelined for an enormous amount of time. Players have fallen off over a hell of a lot less. I would absolutely love nothing more than to be proven wrong and see Isak bounce back, banging in 25+ goals a season, but the whole thing had bad vibes from the start. I think Eddie and the boys must have been casting some of that Nordie Voodoo over a cauldron of gravy.
I don't necessarily think he'll be a flop. He's a very good footballer; his ability in front of goal is second to none. I just feel like the situation has been so negative that it will be very difficult for him to bounce back to 100%. I mean, an 80% Isak is still more dangerous than most other strikers in the league.
Isak and Ekitike playing together is very risky business at the moment in my opinion. Neither are really 90 minute men, and both pick up niggles and knocks too easily. Wouldn't be too worrying if we had appropriate backup, but we don't. We're also a country mile off the level of service they would need to both be proficient, considering that they're fairly similar in style. Wirtz is coming on but still has a ways to go and of course we've got nobody wide on either side producing regular high level deliveries on a regular basis either. In order to get the best out of them playing together, I think we need a few additions.
{Ed025's Note - i think Thierno Barry may be available Chewy.. :)
24 Mar 2026 20:00:28
And available he'll stay Ed!
{Ed025's Note - you are probably right Chewy..
24 Mar 2026 14:42:34
Ed001/ ed025 I have a prediction if Slots is not replaced this international break he stays till the summer.
My prediction if that happens because he is so selfish and with everything going so wrong he still will not work full time we lose to Everton and they finish above us and when you look at where both teams was last season and both teams transfer windows I can't think of a worse performance by a manger of Liverpool in my lifetime.
Love both your thoughts on it.
{Ed025's Note - i think you are still in prime position to finish in the CL spots Grino, we all know you can raise your game when you want to and i expect you will do especially against us and Chelsea mate, it does look like Slot will see the season out but he will be gone in the summer to the relief of the supporters and i expect the players..
24 Mar 2026 17:10:22
Honestly I want Slot to leave as soon as possible so I don't have to read about how he's worse than any Liverpool manager in living memory, how he only cares about himself and going back to Holland every spare moment he gets, how he is to blame for anything that goes wrong at the club, how Gakpo is the worst player on the planet and how we are only going to get 1 point from the rest of our fixtures, ed, I get that people are upset and I don't really hold it against anyone for venting, but it does get pretty tedious after a hard day at work having to read a hodgepodge of fact, speculation and doom-mongering every day.
{Ed001's Note - ok so what? You are on a rumours site and whining about having to read speculation! Do you not realise how stupid that is? If you don't want speculation, perhaps go to a facts only site.}
24 Mar 2026 17:44:44
PB, so you don't want him gone because he has ruined the season with his tactics. We are floundering in 5th place...lost 10 league games, out run on 27 games etc etc.
24 Mar 2026 16:56:50
Admire the honesty Ed, I don't know if I share your expectation. Everton have turned back into what Moyes's old team were - a tough nut to crack. Lovely new stadium and some very hardworking players, that'll be a very tough game.as they all seem to be for us these days!
{Ed025's Note - i think the harder the game the more it suits Liverpool 2Shoes, you seem to struggle more against teams that let you make the running and then catch you on the counter mate, i fancy a draw at the derby and then i expect you to batter Chelsea which will only leave a couple more wins to secure a spot in next seasons Champions League, its scant compensation for the inept way you have gone about things this season but it will be something to build on for the new manager i suppose..
24 Mar 2026 18:23:37
I want him gone so I don't have to read hundreds of "is he gone yet" posts from grown men when it should have been painfully obvious to everyone for months now that he'd be here till May. It's like the Bart and Homer car scene.
24 Mar 2026 18:50:17
How has it been painfully obvious when ITKs have, throughout most of the season, posted that it could be curtains for Slot? What is painfully obvious is that he should have gone months ago. Again, it's a rumours site, and, I'll add, we may be grown men, but we don't ever really grow up, do we? No fun in that! 🤣
24 Mar 2026 18:55:00
Florian, you have more than matched the "has he gone yet " with your very regular delusional defence of him.I reckon when he is sacked, you won't know what to do with yourself
24 Mar 2026 19:03:14
It hasn't even been plainly obvious to those in charge, FM. Let alone us lowly serfs.
24 Mar 2026 19:16:11
PatrikBurgher, who said you HAVE to read it lad? Does your missus hold you by the ear and make you read it out loud? The rest of us have to put up with your nonsense but we don't cry about it. As the old saying gos, "Have a break, have a tampax", or something like that.
Florian, it's funny that you're on here moaning about other people moaning, doesn't that have something to do with a black kettle? It's doubly funny that you're slating people for not being able to see the "painfully obvious" when you still think Slot's doing a good job.
24 Mar 2026 19:29:54
I will strom, I'll back the next manager like I've done for over 40 years. I've just, delusionally as you say, backed the idea that the equally delusional idea of Slot being the sole reason for this s***show of a season is a bit simplistic. There's a lota them in it, I'm afraid, including Slot.
24 Mar 2026 20:10:50
Florian's breaking, he knows he's fighting a losing battle and he has to reposition his argument. Today alone he's admitted two things he's never said before, that Slot will get the sack and that he's actually (somewhat) responsible for this disastrous season. Quality. Moving the goalposts little by little. I like it.
24 Mar 2026 21:29:09
Florian, but it is him this year. Like we all applauded him last season, this season it's all his fault. You can blame the players like a few try to, but he is the coach who trains them. I could go on, but you will just post another 500 posts a week defending him.
25 Mar 2026 09:48:10
If he wins the Champions League he'll stay, Chewy. I don't think he will, so he'll go. (Although it would be absolutely hilarious on here.) Not rocket science. He's the manager, Chewy. I've never once said that as manager he doesn't take blame. I've always argued he shouldn't take all the blame. No moving goalposts here, pal.
24 Mar 2026 16:11:07
According to Graeme Bailey for TEAMtalk on Tuesday, 'sources close to' Alonso have indicated that he's 'ready' to get back into a coaching role, and it's claimed that the ex-Liverpool player 'remains firmly in pole position' to replace Slot if FSG were to make a change in the coming weeks or months.
24 Mar 2026 14:27:59
I now believe we will struggle to get 60 points this season. Would have expected 6 pts from the last two games but got one point.
24 Mar 2026 15:01:16
If we had a manager who would stop over thinking everything and just play how we know we can (see the Galatasaray game) I'd have absolutely no doubts we can still finish top 3 and win a trophy this season. However, Slot just seems to have lost his head completely. Within an hour of the Gala game he was making excuses saying we can't play like that every week. Yes, we absolutely can you clown. We know we can, because we did for 9 years under Jurgen Klopp and most years we either won trophies and/or picked up 90+ points. So don't try and gaslight the fans into thinking it's impossible to play with intensity twice a week when you have spent £450m on the senior squad and also have a whole squad of u21's at your disposal.
I went through the remaining fixtures earlier with a Chelsea fan, a Man United fan and another Liverpool fan. We all estimated Liverpool will finish around 57-59 points. Looking at it a few hours later, that actually seems quite optimistic given our current form of 1 point from the last 3 games (two of which were against the teams in 17th and 20th place). It would also represent our lowest points tally since the 2011/12 season when we accumulated just 52 points unless we win all 7 remaining games.
If you actually break down Slot's time at the club, yes we've won a league title. However we did so with 84 points. That's the same tally we mustered in 13/14 under Brendan Rodgers, who in his other two full seasons managed 61 and 62 points. Right now it's touch and go if we even get near those tallies this year, so Slot would seem to be at a similar sort of level to Brendan Rodgers, with the only real difference being he caught City and Arsenal off guard last season. Their interviews are certainly equally as cringeworthy. Although at least Slot's not focused because he loves his family, whereas Rodgers lost focus because he was cheating on his wife with someone half his age!
Ultimately, I don't want to diminish the achievement of winning the league last year. Had we been pushed harder, we likely could've tallied up another few points. Emotionally it also meant so much to so many of us regardless of the lack of competition. Whatever way we dress it up or spin it though, Slot chose to let the standards slip after the league was mathematically finished and the fitness levels seemingly dropped so far, that an interrupted pre-season was not enough to pull them back to the standards required. I'll be forever grateful to Slot for winning number 20, but his times up. He's made too many mistakes and he doesn't seem to have the inspirational personality or the man-management skills to turn the situation around.
24 Mar 2026 17:10:21
Almost totally agree, MK.
The 'almost' bit is the points last season - if we hadn't got it wrapped up so early, we would have got more points, I don't doubt. We went into coast mode, like we did when we won it 2020 (we may have got more points that year, but as we won it with so many games to go, we took our foot off the gas at the end).
Pundits and others point out that Slot has the joint best win rate after 100 games as Kenny, better than Klopp.
However, I think the important bit is that the majority of the wins were in the first 50/60 games, and since then we have been on a downward trend.
Klopp may have won fewer of his first 100, but his 2nd 50 was better than his first 50.
That's now my issue with Slot, there doesn't seem to be any improvement.
I was a Slot fan until (probably) November time. Thank you for the league title, Arne, but I can't see how we would ever win another one with you. Seeing a path to another league title is a must with any manager of ours.
24 Mar 2026 19:57:32
Did we go into coast mode or did Slot start deployment of his insipid tactics around last February?
