Not heard of him, is he reliable? I do have a feeling it’s Rodrygo in and Diaz out.

17 Jul 2025 14:44:37
My lord what a window this turning out to be.

17 Jul 2025 14:53:28
Alex Crook is typically quite reliable. He doesn’t indulge in click bait or micro updates. If he says something, it’s probably genuine.

17 Jul 2025 15:00:26
He's also a big United fan so it must be killing him to keep releasing these great bits of Liverpool business!

17 Jul 2025 15:12:54
He’s also supposedly well clued in with the Bournemouth boys so anything related to Hughes or Howe is pretty reliable apparently.

17 Jul 2025 15:15:35
Thanks MK, never heard of him.

17 Jul 2025 15:27:02
Can’t divulge too much, but his sources come from the same place as mine. Which is why I posted on here earlier saying something similar.

Couple of differences between me and Crooky, his voice is heard on the radio and he is a United fan. ?.

17 Jul 2025 15:29:45
Yeah Alex Crook is very reliable. Works for Talksport which is why many are apprehensive however his track record is almost spot on.

As Jude said above, has very close ties to Bournemouth and the clubs around the South/ South East of England - close ties to Richard Hughes from his time at Bournemouth.

I'm not sure how much I rate Rodrygo although Liverpool have attempted to sign him before.

17 Jul 2025 15:38:52
Hmm not so sure I hear him on Talksport, usually just repeating stuff that I have already heard.
But to be fair Talksport do have a penchant for reporting stuff that hasn't happened yet, and sometimes doesn't happen.

17 Jul 2025 15:55:27
Random but a friend of mine cleans hughes gaff in Bournemouth! Massive with a lovely pool!

17 Jul 2025 16:02:02
I think people will be disappointed in rodrygo. He's not very clinical and can be bullied out of games quite easily.

Honestly can't see what he will bring to the team that we don't already have.

17 Jul 2025 16:07:43
The other chaps who report on Talksport who actually seem to know their stuff is Tim Vickery (South American football) and European Experts Andy Brassell and Kevin Hatchard are fairly clued up!

17 Jul 2025 16:07:53
Rodrygo got shafted RM. I remember (hate) watching the CL semi 2nd leg RM vs City where Rodrygo bagged 2 goals in the 90' before Benzema scored a penalty in the 95' securing their spot in the final.

17 Jul 2025 16:23:06
Fofana is the better buy. Surprised we aren't over it.

17 Jul 2025 16:33:47
To be fair to Rodrygo he has a good attitude for a Madrid player with his reputation, works hard too. He has quality in flashes but also he has been playing out of position for much of his Madrid career. I don't personally think he is worth the money and I'd prefer to keep Diaz but he does offer something a little bit different from Lucho and if Edwards has him pegged as a long term target then the transfer team knows best.

17 Jul 2025 16:46:48
Probably because Fofana is more of a project Batman, and we already have a superior one in Rio.

17 Jul 2025 16:52:08
I've never seen fofana play batman7, what are we missing out on? Looks to have similar numbers to rodrygo but he's younger.

17 Jul 2025 16:58:08
The new big money signings have elevated us to a position where losing games won't be accepted like before.
Don't get me wrong as I understand Liverpool losing a game in any competition is not an option but buying players for €35/ 55 million in the past allowed us just enough slack to keep the wolves from the door.
These wolves will be circling from game day one in August.

17 Jul 2025 17:33:56
Rodrygo YT highlights is very good. Can score with both foot and has pace to burn.

It will be very interesting if he comes as Coady has to take a back seat.

17 Jul 2025 18:00:40
It might be his versatility were after Sami especially if Nunez and Diaz both end up leaving

Verdo - I don't see our fan base turning into those kind of supporters just because we've signed a few players, if you mean outside noise if and when we lose then so be it. Nothing anyone can do about that.

17 Jul 2025 18:14:23
Rodrygo is a clutch player. The type that will get you a goal when you need one.

And. He has been played out of position for almost his entire tenure at RM.

I think he is a cracking player and will light up our left-wing.

17 Jul 2025 18:27:39
RM can play swap game asking Macca in return.

Even stevens as both players are not really that worth the respective clubs would ask for.

17 Jul 2025 19:36:59
Macca'd be a bargain at £100m.

17 Jul 2025 19:45:49
Whats your take on Rodrigo ed1? His numbers aren't amazing but he is a tricky player.

{Ed001's Note - not really sure, never seen him play on the left, which is his preferred position apparently. Never impressed me in the centre or on the right.}

17 Jul 2025 19:48:16
I’m not sure there is a price for Mac10 as it’d be a miracle to replace him - unless Vitinha is available.

He’s the perfect midfielder for us.

Liverpool are claimed to have opened talks over a deal for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, with the Brazilian said to be valued at €100 million (£87m) .

Rodrygo, the 24-year-old forward, is reported to be considering his future at Real Madrid having barely featured at the Club World Cup.

A marginal role under Xabi Alonso has led sources in England, Spain and Brazil to link the versatile attacker with a move to Liverpool.

ESPN Brasil backed up reports from Spanish publication AS on Wednesday, while talkSPORT‘s Alex Crook claimed preliminary discussions between Liverpool and Real Madrid on Thursday.

However, This Is Anfield understands there are currently no plans to move for the Brazilian.

17 Jul 2025 22:33:49
I thought it was Vini Jr we were being linked with from Real Madrid?

18 Jul 2025 00:01:44
Might be contrary to most opinions but I'd rather we got Fofana.

In my opinion:

- Rodrygo: more experienced. More versatile. Very expensive and high wages. Will unsettle Gakpo (surely Rodrygo would come as a starter) .

- Fofana: looks faster and stronger (better suited to PL) . Cheaper and lower wages (both probably half or less of Rodrygo's) . Would share minutes more evenly with Gakpo I imagine.

I personally feel we'd get similar output from Fofana and Rodrygo at a much lower cost (fees and wages) .

The only plus for me with Rodrygo is that he seems more versatile to play across the front 3 but rumours are he wants to play in his preferred left wing.

18 Jul 2025 01:03:24
I can't really make sense of this one to be honest, massive outlay in an area we are not really weak. Even if Diaz goes Gakpo is first choice at LW for me, and Chiesa can cover a Ross the whole front line. If we are after Ekiteke and still need a CB I don't think this is realistic given the numbers involved.

18 Jul 2025 06:00:49
Whomever wants rodrygo will need to pay the €100m asking price - which hasn't changed since over a year ago.

They will also need to beat his current £210k per week salary (not including bonuses)

He will want to be a starter (though will not demand it contractually) and will demand to play on the left.

I've said before that he's not very clinical and does get bullied a lot but he is hard working, willing to defend and press and generally he's a very well liked player by staff and players. His best attribute is his mentality in my opinion, he's been unhappy at Madrid for almost two years but had never complained even though Madrid have basically priced him out of a sale and has never rocked the boat or turned up late for training.

Madrid will not budge on the price.

18 Jul 2025 17:04:06
More so the main stream media and tabloids Ernest who have been fairly kind to us over the last few years.
But when they turn it can become really negative very quickly.
That will ramp up the pressure on the players who could start questioning their own ability.

Take Nunez, I believe he is a far better player than what he is showing us but the negitave feedback he's receiving from the media isn't helping his confidance. A move to another league will do him the world of good.
