Eds, with all the speculation surrounding Guehi, what is happening to delay his transfer? Is it his manager wanting to retain his players or is it we just haven't got around to doing the deal. I read on a recent post from Carra that it is the owner of Crystal Palace being awkward! Do you know what the problem is? Thanks.

If they don’t want to sell a player with 1 year left on his contract, then they can’t really moan when he leaves for free next year. Maybe they are hoping that he signs a new deal?

I’d hope we switch targets as there’s no point negotiating with Palace. Fair enough that’s what he’s worth to them, but at the price they want there are better players out there.

Moustache, we can only have 17 non-HG players in the squad since 8 are reserved for HG players. And HG doesn't just mean English players btw. Frimpong is HG even though he is Dutch.

Also, this mean for the CB position or Konate replacement, we need to find a HG CB good enough to replace him. Or an under 21 CB with the same quality. You have any names that fit either criteria Ed?

We’re telling Newc we’re willing to pay a record transfer fee for their Swedish striker.
We’re also willing to pay circa £35mil to Palace for Guehi who has 1yr left on his contract.
Neither player is leaving their boyhood club.

Eds 001, does that 1 space left for non home grown space include the vacant position just left by Diaz? Or would that take us to 2 now. Guessing Chiesa will leave even if it’s just on loan which will give us 1 more. Is there any update on the young defender Cresswell who we seemed to be linked with last season.

At least I think so, my head is not really working right so apologies if my maths is wrong. I have had man flu all week, so busy fighting off the grim reaper, but I am not making a fuss about it, even if it did ruin my bday yesterday!
It does look like Chiesa will go back to Italy, though he would also make sense to keep as a back up, so it is not really urgent to offload him.
As far as I am aware, there is no interest in Cresswell and I would be surprised if we were interested in a player so lacking. He is simply nowhere near good enough.
I don't know of any interest in signing Wharton, maybe next summer might change, but they are not an easy club to deal with, particularly at the moment. They are not looking to let anyone go ahead of a European campaign.}

Makes sense to let these players develop more at palace gain European experience. Likewise with Guehi if we can get him on a free next season he will have guaranteed game time to claim a World Cup spot then we get him with VVD only having 1 season left. Great window for us regardless feel it will be Arsenal pushing us the most this season. Thanks for all the hard work.

Just on Isak mate as you said above do you think it is all down to them signing a striker now? I understand deals like this are never quick however seems if are to get Isak it could be when the season starts at this rate? But then surely NUFC want this resolved before their first game in the PL?
If Newcastle are unable to sign a striker mate do you expect Isak to just stay put and have to bite the bullet per say? I expect if they even get Wissa through the door he will go Isak, however think no chance they let him go without another top class/ good striker coming in.

I did state that Ramsay is likely to be sold, but is currently listed on the squad list on our website.
Therefore in the eyes of it, will be “taking a slot” - but let’s face it, he won’t be. Even with him out of it, all 17 are currently filled, but there will be movement.
