I was talking to someone who is close to the "he who shall not be named" camp this morning. he's a close family friend of theres. He told me that it was 2 years ago when "he who shall not be named" decided to leave. Funny enough, Klopp also was going to leave that summer and Bellingham joined Real. He even started taking Spanish lessons around this time. When Slot came in he treated him differently to Klopp, just another player who needed to work harder on his defensive side. The first time he said that to "he who shall not be named" solidified his need to leave.

05 Sep 2025 15:03:14
Thanks Thefields appreciate the insight.

It’s a bit of a ‘nothing-burger’ to me, still a club legend ?.

05 Sep 2025 15:04:54
Hit send too early haha.

The narrative of he wanted to leave for another culture and to try a different league was false. He knew what we were about to do this summer and decided that he wanted to leave anyway. This fella seems to think he left because Slot wanted him to work on his defensive side and the fact Bellingham was there.

Make of it what you will but I don't think he is wrong.

05 Sep 2025 15:49:11
Thanks for sharing, Thefields.

Either way, we are here now busy building a dynasty.

05 Sep 2025 16:06:51
Does it matter?
It'll never dilute the memory of "corner taken quickly".

05 Sep 2025 16:14:13
Slot was right though. Trent had a good season when we was used more as a conventional right back.
I never thought this inverted stuff he was doing was a good idea.

05 Sep 2025 16:17:54
Trent was driven by self interest, as are most of the human race.

05 Sep 2025 17:36:28
If he decided to leave 2 years ago it was nothing to do with Slot and how would he know we’d sign Isak, Wirtz et al. I smell bllsht.

05 Sep 2025 17:42:55
A real pity trent left as I feel the captaincy, which he would've got in not too distant future, would have brought his game up another level.
The 1 fault I would've had to vvd game was that he wasn't aggressive enough but since he got captaincy he certainly aggressive enough now and he's better than ever.
Same with trent, I think what stopping him from being absolute world class player, particularly as a degender, is his lack of aggression. if he was captain I don't believe we would see any lackadaisical attitude from him.

05 Sep 2025 17:58:18
He’s left. Who cares how, when and why it happened?

I’ve forgotten about him already.

05 Sep 2025 18:02:36
Trent is currently in my top 3 scousers the other two are Tommy Smith and Stevie G.

05 Sep 2025 19:18:36
WM that's because he didn't tell Slot until late March about what he intended to do. If you smell bullcrap, you need to stop rolling in cow fields mate.

Robbo, closure. Some people still care. I couldn't give a toss either tbh, just thought I would pass it on.

Ingland nah. Mine are Jimmy Corkhill, Barry Grant and Tinhead ?.

05 Sep 2025 20:17:03
Thing is though Thefields he could’ve decided 2 years ago that he wanted Madrid as an option but wanted to wait until closer to the time to make his final decision. We’ll never know for sure.

But really, who cares? He wanted to go and he went, end of story.

He didn’t do anything wrong but now he’s gone so anything he does is irrelevant to me.

I was at the ‘corner taken quickly’ game and it was one of the best nights of my life (I had bruises everywhere after that game) but not because Trent did what he did. It was because Liverpool came back from 3-0 down to win against Barcelona.

I support Liverpool and he doesn’t play for Liverpool so I couldn’t give a toss.

05 Sep 2025 20:58:15
That's for the confirmation fields . I always thought he planned it . ran his contract down because that what Madrid told him to do . he was tapped up ( Like Konate now) . but these posters who still believe the sun shines out of his backside still amazes me. I also think Slot didn't fancy him as a defender . so good riddance . the only thing what bothered me was the transfer money we never got, not him leaving.

05 Sep 2025 21:31:17
You know what I can’t stand? Is the “ corner taken quickly” shout to defend his legacy. If it wasn’t for origi it was just a corner.

05 Sep 2025 21:43:27
Thanks The field,
Really appreciate the information you provide but I suspect you know Trent wanted to sign a new contract two years ago with LFC and there was no offer from Madrid at that time . He's left and think we just need to appreciate the great contribution he made to LFC history . I have great memories from his time at anfield.

05 Sep 2025 21:51:08
Interesting, thanks for sharing Fields. At the time I did think it could be related to Klopp leaving. Let's not forget that Slot fired a parting shot (or gift as I believe as he put it) fo Alonso regarding TAA's defending.

05 Sep 2025 22:05:56
Scouse John. exactly. it was Origi who scored the goal, he hardly gets a mention.

05 Sep 2025 23:00:07
I’ll be honest, I don’t care what Trent is doing. He’s gone and we are on to bigger and better things. Let’s focus on Slot and this new dynasty both Hughes and Edwards are building.

05 Sep 2025 23:24:36
Good info mr Fields. Regardless of whether people want to hear it, it’s still a rumour. Keep sharing please, it’s why we are all here.

05 Sep 2025 23:30:06
Top 3 scousers? Lad? Give it a rest!

Steve McMahon, Robbie Fowler, Ian Callaghan and Jimmy Case, Trent really is not fit to lace their boots. Learn your history. Aldo too and Jan molby all way above that fella. Not a clue mate. !

05 Sep 2025 23:49:32
I don't get this at all. Why was Voldemort taking Spanish lessons?

06 Sep 2025 00:42:25
Thanks Thefield.

Was just asking this qn the other day on the Banter page.

It’s a big shift in his attitude, going from future club captain, to leaving despite knowing our big upcoming summer plans, and opportunity to create an era of dominance.

The fact that the announcement was made only after the final game of the season, also allows him plenty of opportunity to make a uturn on his decision, unless a pre contract agreement was alr signed.

Oh well, he had made his decision and we move on. I would wish him well, but there will always be this asterisk to his name that will taint his legacy here.

Have a good weekend all!

06 Sep 2025 01:23:46
Ah yes, an international break - standard slow day at the office.

06 Sep 2025 07:25:46
We will see how good he is in defence in a few weeks when he’s up against Isak, mo, Gakpo and Ekitike. Or will we ?.

06 Sep 2025 07:50:40
I have no problem with his leaving or wanting to leave. But he could have approached it differently. The decision to leave was clearly made in terms of years and not months as some are claiming. He kept refusing contract talks or we would have heard something about talks taking place.

The club nurtured him for 20 years? He served the club for 20 years? Both very true. But he could have easily left a year earlier and made sure the club received a good amount, instead of the pittance received. It's a business at the end of the day.

Amazing player? Yes. Legend? No. If players like Owen, Suarez and Coutinho don't qualify, then no reason this guy should either.

{Ed077's Note - Players like Owen, Suarez and Coutinho didn't win your club LEAGUE titles, or UCL for that matter though. Trent was integral in the most successful period of your club in the PL era. Just because he ran down his deal doesn't mean you guys have to start acting like he didn't serve the club well during his time.

06 Sep 2025 08:13:55
Exactly Ed077 ??

My criteria for club legend are simple:
1) Winning titles - champions leagues and premier leagues.
2) Doing something extraordinary for the club or the community.

I’m not bothered about corners etc.
Owen - won a few cups, some might say the cup final against Arsenal qualifies as something extraordinary but not me. It was 2 good finishes to win a match where we were second best.
Suarez - amazing player, won no titles, disgraced himself and the club with his behaviour.
Coutinho - again, won no titles.

Trent - didn’t cost the club a fee, won everything on offer with the club and left for £10m. He’s a legend.
Running your contract down is not a crime. It’s his career, he helped bring incredible success to the club.

06 Sep 2025 08:43:27
You are wasting your breath @77 - for some it’s like breaking up with their first girlfriend, even the ones who haven’t had a real life girlfriend just yet.

{Ed077's Note - ??

06 Sep 2025 09:56:55
"Don't you want me baby? " springs to mind too WDW.

06 Sep 2025 10:05:22
On the "it was just a corner" - Trent started to walk away from the ball then suddenly turned back and whipped it into Origi.
It caught the entire Barcelona team napping. I'd never seen a corner taken like that, and haven't since. Considering the magnitude of the game, it was the winning goal and it was late on, it as a stunningly audacious piece of football.
Anyone trying to denigrate that is simply taking large doses of copium.
It's funny seeing grown men acting like schoolgirls over their first crush though.

06 Sep 2025 10:09:17
Forget him, left his boyhood club to be a squad member underwear model in Spain. Will never play for us again thank god and will be back at Chelsea or Spurs in 18 months.

06 Sep 2025 10:35:33
Alright, I get it. It's individuals who win titles. Not teams. You're right. And my understanding of football is way off. Have a nice day.

06 Sep 2025 10:50:05
And here's the usual suspects defending him . leg end not legend . so what he was part of us winning the league, so was countless other players . he couldn't defend to save his life . yea he had a wand of a right foot. . but a legend to me is how they've conducted themselves, he let his contract run down costing the club millions of pounds, while no letting on his intentions . let that sink in eh .

06 Sep 2025 10:55:40
Flash it looks like its you with the first crush . can imagine you playing that 15 clip every night before bedtime.

06 Sep 2025 11:53:09
It’s not a question of defending anybody it is more the continual revisiting of the same topic every time the lad has a bad game or a good game or an average game. I know this will hurt and it is very sad news for some who can’t seem to let go but the lad has moved on and it’s time for all of us to put big lad’s pants on and let him go.

06 Sep 2025 12:47:31
Its nothing to do if he had a bad game or whatever . The Fields supplied good information about him, what most of us probably all thought was the case . I support Liverpool not a player but people call him a legend . no legend leaves his home town club which nurtured him to cost the club millions . that's my only argument.

06 Sep 2025 13:42:59
I don't play anything of Trent's Stromgodset.
Who cares if he's classed as a legend or not? Apart, obviously from those who just can't let go.
Like WDW said, time to put the big boys pants on and get over it.

06 Sep 2025 14:08:29
By the 'won everything' logic, every player that was involved consistently over that period should be regarded as a legend.
A good academy player that left before he attained legend status for me.

06 Sep 2025 16:07:24
Flash . there is nothing to let go of . the Fields posted something what most sane people thought but the trent brigade came out in force defending him. ( it's a pity he couldn't defend that good ) saying what a corner, what a legend, to me he's exactly like the other scouser who ran his contract down, Macmanaman . I always thought he was a liability anyway n wanted Bradley in but he couldn't keep fit . hope iv answered you with big boys pants on.

06 Sep 2025 16:46:34
WDW and Flash. That's right. You're the big boys with the big pants on and everybody else with a different opinion, isn't and hasn't. There you go. You got the last words in too. Bravo. Made your day on here, has it?

Whose permission do we ask, as to what is permissible for discussion and what isn't? Someone raise their hand, so we can get this done with. Keep smiling. ?.

06 Sep 2025 17:19:29
No different to Macca or Owen.

06 Sep 2025 18:00:28
Yfronts Stromsgodset, certainly not big boy pants.
ArAy, I've got my hand raised - can you see it?

06 Sep 2025 20:10:18
Flash . better Y fronts than trent knickers eh.

06 Sep 2025 21:59:59
Idgaf about him, but the hypocrisy of someone (wdw) saying let it go whilst getting carrying it on.

07 Sep 2025 01:04:05
@Stromgodset you can go back on this forum to around August 2023 - I’d been over in Liverpool for my dad’s funeral and I was told by someone I knew from years and years back that TAA had started taking Spanish lessons. I said at the time that my mate worked at the club but wasn’t a decision maker but if he knew about it, it was obvious that other people at the club did.

He wanted to move as a life choice but also because he wanted to play for RM. they aren’t mutually exclusive choices - you can want more than one thing at any moment in time.

It seems Liverpool tried to convince him to stay but he just didn’t want to and here’s the thing - I’m sure if you were good enough you’d want to play for Liverpool and you’d want to play for them for your entire career and because that’s what you want you’d imagine every Liverpool fan and player would want the same thing.

Trouble is that not all of us do, some people want to try different things, just because they can. it doesn’t mean that they don’t love Liverpool or us fans, it just means they want to experience something different in life before they pass away.

On the evidence of your (and others) increasingly tedious repetition it seems that you really don’t get the point that there is an alternate view.

07 Sep 2025 01:23:05
If another player had his career then we would all be saying he was a Liverpool legend, how he left or when he decided to go doesn't change what he done for the club, legendary status is not earned by how long u stayed for or how much the club recieved for u it's defined by what u did on the pitch and trent done brilliant for us, if we going to talk about loyalty we have recently loaned out 2 players in Harvey and tsimi who love Liverpool yet many here having a go a Trent have said they ain't good bwiugh) enough and should leave so loyalty is a very shallow word n doesn't mean bugger all anyways trent is no longer our player so what he does doesn't concern Lfc any longer but doesn't mean we have to hate the guy.

07 Sep 2025 10:51:07
between 'he who can't be named', YLFP, LGBT, I have no idea who people are talking about anymore

can we be a bit mature and just use the players' name? lol

I find the constant badgering of Trent the person and the player as real small fry and just a continuation of Liverpool fans' inferiority complex.

07 Sep 2025 12:16:59
WDW . what a load of nonsense you've just wrote . its you who has missed the point completely. no one is arsed that he wanted to try a new country/ way of life/ new team . the only fact bothering me n countless others, is that the ran his contract down on purpose costing the club millions of pounds in a transfer fee. Madrid do what Madrid do. get players to run their contracts down n then add them to the squad. in others words tapped up n if they don't run their contracts down then they don't join . as for the tedious repetition, that comes from your over inflated ego about yourself . iv read of few of your condescending comments to others on other threads on here .

07 Sep 2025 12:52:00
Why slag trent off you guys, he cost nothing and contributed a hell of a lot and wanted to move on, it happens, I’d have him back anytime, short memories some of you!

07 Sep 2025 13:20:46
"Not arsed about this at all but it does bother me".
Sounds like an Everton fan talking about Liverpool, not wanting to admit to any kind of obsessive tendencies but then confirming it 10 words later.
FaithIW is on the right track about an inferiority complex.
Comical stuff.

07 Sep 2025 14:32:39
The amount of vindictiveness towards Trent is pretty ridiculous to be honest. I'm sure if he got booed every game by the Real supporters, if he was caught crying on the bench and the Spanish newspapers branded him the worst La Liga player of all time lots of people on here are going to run to their keyboards and have a public celebration on here. I mean honestly move on, it's like people want him to suffer the wrath of god for wanting to leave our club. All the childish nonsense about Bellingham being his boyfriend/ husband is pretty idiotic too, with a big sprinkle of homophobia on top.

07 Sep 2025 17:17:29
Flash . I was answering wdw to his thinking everyone is upset he's left . now as for your Everton jibe n bringing other posters into your lil arguments for some sort of validation. iv been going to see Liverpool regularly since the early 80s . home n away . usually when we see people like you, we swerve them . we all know your type, the ones bitching in the background while , while all the proper lads are doing their thing .

07 Sep 2025 17:20:42
Pb . you disagree so what. other people don't . you putting yourself up as some righteous person . even saying people ganging up on Ed14 the other day.

07 Sep 2025 18:04:21
Yeah I'm sorry I'm not too enthused about bashing people on an internet forum, stroms, online schadenfreude for our ex players is not my cup of tea, nor is bashing ed014 when he's not around to respond. You can bask in negativity all you like though.

07 Sep 2025 18:22:28
PB well good for you . you feel better now with your perfect views . I on the other hand don't bask in negativity. I look forward to my team Liverpool winning . not fantasising about some ex player who people describe as a legend or worry about upsetting someone with what I think .

07 Sep 2025 18:23:34
Would those that don't like TAA running down (or honouring) his contract preferred it if he'd put in a transfer request from his boyhood club?
Liverpool agree to it, ask for a £100m fee and RM just pay it?
That could have happened and he wouldn't have been an important member of the squad that won the League last season.

07 Sep 2025 19:02:34
The whole point was to clear the situation up, by highlighting its not as simple as people make it out to be. We are allowed to discuss things and it ain't revisiting anything, what's done is done. There ain't not changing the fact the rwt jumped ship.

Did he help the club achieve a lot of things during his time at the club? Yeah. Does that mean he's a legend? Depends on where you're from tbh. Most local fans think not and he's a rat for the way he behaved. Most non local fans think he is and don't understand why we act the way we do towards the rat, just like Macca and Owen to a certain extent. he's Welsh ?. This is because they don't understand how high the standards we put on one of our own are. We expect better from local lads because let's be serious, why would you want to play for any other club.

07 Sep 2025 19:04:53
Yea Rigsby . like Isak done n got his team a decent transfer fee to get the next player in . like Coutinho did. n they're not even home grown players.

07 Sep 2025 19:39:00
Fields. think you're right on how local fans think of him . n how non locals think . fact is he went n cost our club millions in transfer fees . that to me is a rat behaviour n not a legend .

07 Sep 2025 23:12:35
Let’s see if he gets booed like Suarez when RM turn up. My money says he will.

08 Sep 2025 08:45:04
Funny that you use the term "bitching" Stromsgodset.
One of the things that bitchy people do is slag people off that they claim to have an affinity for, normally behind their backs.
Sound familiar? See the irony?
More comedy gold, keep it coming lad.

08 Sep 2025 12:20:07
Flash, your always on here bitching about posters . calling people numpties etc. bringing other posters into the equation for validation . we all know in real life what type of person uou are.

08 Sep 2025 13:30:44
Now you're a psychic too?
This gets better and better!
Am I a worse kind of person than Trent?

08 Sep 2025 14:34:39
Honestly its pathetic that some users still seek to defend his actions.

He crapped on the club and pocketed what would have been our transfer fee for himself in a signing on fee.

He knew exactly what he was doing and lied consistently to the fans.

You reap what you so and I for one am glad to see he is already being dropped for an aging full back.

He will NEVER be a legend for the way he left the club.

He will look back and regret this decision like so many before him when leaving Liverpool.

Now he's just another number and will be churned out before long, expect a loan elsewhere within 12 months.

I am glad the supporters at the ground each week don't have this nonsense attitude and call it what it is and he has no love left from proper fans.

08 Sep 2025 15:29:11
Flash, don't need to be psychic to know what you are . see your love affair with Trent continues . don't forget to play that 15 sec clip before you go to bed tonight.

09 Sep 2025 00:30:42
Define a proper fan, SSH.

09 Sep 2025 04:52:56
Proper fans hate Trent with a passion and want to see him fail, have a rubbish career and end up overweight and bagging groceries, don't you know, Salah?

09 Sep 2025 06:04:57
PB, the man who doesn't like bashing people on Internet forums hahah.

09 Sep 2025 09:39:37
Give it a rest stroms, you're making a fool of yourself mate.

09 Sep 2025 10:10:36
Most people are looking at the Trent thing as Fans by saying you should want to play for YOUR club your whole life, well most people don't work in the same place all their working life, He was here for 20 years he was in an awesome team but he decide he wanted to leave to another country on a lot of money who here wouldn't do that if they got offered it not just in football but everyday life, I wish him the best and we move on. I don't know if he is classed as a legend but given that others are classed as legends for winning a lot less or playing significantly less than Trent he could well be classed as one any way like i say we move on. YNWA.

09 Sep 2025 15:52:08
Salah . why would you think im making a fool of myself. im giving my opinion about a thread on here . just because some people disagree with me, doesn't make me a fool. plenty of people agree with me . if you don't like what im saying scroll past it .

09 Sep 2025 16:48:07
There'll be plenty of people agree that you look a fool too.
Oh to be young and lovestruck again.

09 Sep 2025 17:16:41
Flash, but some people think I'm 100% right. . ive never heard anyone agree with you about anything on this forum . and again seeking validation from others .

09 Sep 2025 16:22:27
@Ed01 Tris can we close this thread down and ban threads on TAA going forwards seems to bring along a lot of nonsense.

Cheers pal.

10 Sep 2025 00:42:11
You've got to love International breaks, brings everyone closer together.

Bickering on the internet is as productive as an Amorim tactical lecture, but at least it's more entertaining for the observing audience.
