Following up with some fresh news.
Liverpool board etc were hopeful that Semenyo and his camp would give green light to our project, however having not received that, our interest died down.
Much like with Isak, we were only prepared to move when we had all ducks in a row. The Caicedo saga left a sour taste in boards mouths and they don’t want to fall foul again.
This is also the reason they have not progressed with the £35m bid for Guehi as Palace have not given any indications they are prepare to let captain go this window. As their own discussions with replacements have not progressed.
Liverpool will unlikely move for Joel Ordonez. He was looked at in the past but the feeling is that they don’t want two young up and coming defenders. The next CB through the door, will be a ready made starter around the 24 yr old mark.
I have been told not to expect much with the main squad this window unless one of our rivals moves for a summer target (like what happened with Diaz) .
Final word is from me personally having read some recent replies and conversations on here. The only thing shambolic with Liverpool at the moment isn’t the players, the managers or the owners, it is our own fanbase. We are in total disarray.
Most in the summer said after the tragic events at the parade and sadly loss of Jota, that whatever happens this year doesn’t matter.
I would also argue the point that I have watched a lot of other games this season and we aren’t the only “boring” team. It hasn’t been an exciting season by any stretch. We lost 9 in 12 and Slot fixed the rot. Better times and football will return but bickering between ourselves and cursing Slot and the players will not get us there any quicker. Just remember he was held as a messiah only 6 months ago for winning the league in his first season. Let’s not call him a fraud just yet.
Here’s to a hopeful 3 points against Fulham and then onto the Gooners.
02 Jan 2026 20:57:23
“Fixed the rot” drawing 0-0 at home to relegation fodder isn’t stopping the rot. Being weak in midfield isn’t stopping the rot. Being weak in defence isn’t stopping the rot. Being rubbish at set pieces, both defending and scoring from them, is not stopping the rot.
As for the possibility of not moving for a centre back this window, well if that’s the case then it’s going to be a very long second half of the season.
Finally, it’s not the supporters who are in disarray here, there’s been a lot of patience watching utter dross so far, particularly with results like the home drubbing by Forest and PSV and even worse, being beaten by one of the worst United teams in generations.
Unfortunately I can’t see us getting maximum points in our next two matches. No sane person would.
02 Jan 2026 21:12:06
Crap doesn't roll uphill Jonny so for me and most on here I would guess the disarray starts at the top. +1 for Vic's take.
02 Jan 2026 21:39:55
Ordonoz is 23 and the media in his own country claim a deal is done so your first part is most likely wrong. Fanbase have every right to not be happy with Sloth ball. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and some on here like Slot and some think it needs to change.
02 Jan 2026 21:51:41
Here we go again, let me get the popcorn.
02 Jan 2026 22:02:13
Viktor, with all due respect it's this type of negativity which is proving my point.
Currently we are the forth best in form guide for the Premier League. Leeds are fifth. Although they are "relegation fodder", they have been increasingly difficult not only to beat but to keep out. Had Hugo or VVD found the net with their headers we would be even closer to Villa and have another clean sheet.
I encourage you to watch 90mins of other teams this season and then tell me the league is exciting. I have seen a total change this season in tactics across the board, with even Arsenal fans bemoaning playing style only a matter of weeks ago. It will be a season of low blocks, long-throws and set-pieces.
We have made changes in regard to set-pieces, so let's see how that plays out. We seemed to be solid defending them yesterday.
As a club we have had one of the toughest summers. Fancy new signings hide the issues and it was never going to be an easy run to a title. It was a season of change, which has been paired with bitter sadness this summer.
Looking at that we had our worst run in 50 years and still sat in the Top 4 should give you enough encouragement. Look at United, Chelsea, Spurs and even Newcastle. These are clubs currently struggling and we are ahead of them all.
Whether you love him or loathe him, we lost a generational talent at RB in TAA and this season haven't been able to have a settled RB due to injuries.
Our new LB has taken 5 months to get up to speed.
Our old LB can't play too many games consecutively.
We only have two fit CBs.
The best keeper on the planet was missing for approx. 8 games.
Mac Allister has struggled to regain his form.
Mo is completely off the pace from last season.
Gakpo is out of form and predictable at best.
We had 6 senior striking options last season, currently we have 3 available.
Our biggest signing has barely been on the pitch.
We lost a rocket in Diaz and haven't been able to replicate that speed on the wing (until Frimpong this week) .
Yet we have had great moments in young Ngumoha, Ekitike has been electric, Szobo has come into his own and looks like Stevie G at times and Wirtz has been finding his touch recently.
I just believe we need to take stock of everything. We have witnessed the Hodgson horror era, the downfall of Brendan and although this season hasn't been great it is far from the woeful days.
All I am saying is give the players and the manager the support until the end of the season and re-evaluate when we know where we are. Doing so now, without taking into consideration everything that has happened since the summer and how it has affected people is not the best decision in my humble opinion.
Maybe I am overly optimistic, form is temporary, class is permanent. These players and coaches in my view more class than being given credit for.
02 Jan 2026 22:22:38
Joel Ordonez is 21, check your facts before replying.
02 Jan 2026 22:24:02
Spot on Jonny. The guy wins us the league in his first season and 10 games through the second season the 'fans' on here are calling for his head. Even though half the team has changed. Slated him for playing Kirkez, Salah, Macca, Gakpo, Isak, Wirtz etc and then he drops them and they still moan. Then they go on to laugh at Chelsea and United sacking manager after manager but even they didn't sack a league winning manager after half a season in transition.
One minute we are too open and attacking, next we are too defensive. Give the guy a chance to find a balance with the players he has. And let's face it some of those players have let him down thus season and are not as good as most on here think.
02 Jan 2026 22:24:41
If that's the rot fixed then we're in serious trouble.
02 Jan 2026 22:29:02
You're delusional Jonny. Making excuses for utter dross. We've been awful pretty much all season. Once the flukey last minute goals dried up we got found out. It's pretty clear where we are. Awful at the back, awful in midfield and lacking ideas and penetration going forward. You carry on making excuses though. Whatever helps you cope.
02 Jan 2026 22:29:05
Keegan perm Ordóñez is 21.
02 Jan 2026 22:32:35
WarMachine I totally agree.
I appreciate and respect everyone's right to an opinion, but as per my original post, I feel the fanbase is the only thing in real disarray.
We are navigating a tricky season in the Premier League, and I think so expected it to be a walk in the park.
The guy has earnt the right to time and allowing to fix mistakes and improve the team.
{Ed025's Note - yeah its all the supporters fault Jonny, get a grip mate ffs..
02 Jan 2026 22:56:55
Some of the fans on the internet have dug their trench Jonny and there's no backing out of it. Every day they dig a bit more, whether it be set piece coaches or data analysts, there's always something to attack the manager about.
It's sad, I hope he proves them all wrong in time.
02 Jan 2026 22:57:22
Ed025 - when did I say the results were supporters fault!?
I get it, fans debating and arguing helps your page and gets more views etc, but as I have stated the saddest thing at the moment is the inhouse arguing from our fanbase. We need to stick together and support the team.
Having watched the club for over 30 years, standing on The Kop, I can say I have safely watched far worse football than we are witnessing now.
I am not making excuses, but maybe giving reasons or an understanding as to why it isn't all rosey this season.
{Ed025's Note - how do you expect the supporters to react watching dross like that every week Johnny?...and paying good money to do so, do you want them to applaud when a pass goes astray or when they cant beat the first man from a corner?, or be happy with half arsed challenges and players puffing and panting after 70 minutes?, if you went to a theatre and the show was absolutely crap would you stand up at the end and ask for an encore mate?, you reap what you sow in this game my friend..
02 Jan 2026 23:06:31
I think us fans have a right to be pissed off. if you consider that since about February. The performance and tactics have got worse. interspersed with the odd upturn.
I had hopes at the start of this season it was just a team with new players gelling. but unfortunately Arne doesn't seem to think the fitness is in dire need of improvement and believes that slow, predictable, boring football is what the way forward.
The best performances have come when we play with some pace and intensity.
I can't see us winning a major trophy whilst the current coaching and system is in place.
So for me. If the coach can't change. change the coach. Should be playing much better football with the players he has towork with.
For some like me it seems that the identity, passion and belief Built over the last 10 years has been wiped out.
02 Jan 2026 23:11:38
Jonny no6
Please don't tell me how to watch or support my team. That is possibly the most patronising post I've seen on this site. I know what I see, I have said on here many times that I don't care what other teams play like! I only care about LFC.
What gives you the right to tell me, what I should think, and what view I should have?
I'm fuming are you living in a different universe mate. Your coments make me wonder what games you have watched?
To state we won't strengthen this appalling defence is nothing short of negligent, and if you think the noise is bad now, just watch how bad it will get if your statement is correct.
02 Jan 2026 23:39:35
Great post Jonny, agree with everything you've said. It's not pretty at the moment and I very much doubt that Slot will be in charge next season. But for now, just support the team AND the manager. We are 4th…. and considering the appalling season we have had, that's truly amazing.
Ask yourself, what makes our club do special?
Is it individual players?
Is it the manager?
Is it the owners?
My answer to the above in no…
It's more than that….
And the constant bitching and whining chips away at what makes this club so special.
02 Jan 2026 23:52:12
Slot complains a lot, he is also proving to be quite rigid with his vision for tippy-tappy football (kill them with sideways passes) . Im getting B-rod vibes from the man personally and do not feel he is the one to lead us for years to come.
If i saw a buy in from the players and he was more humble, I would back him, as i backed all of the managers i liked since I've supported LFC - Paisley, Kenny, Evans, Houlier, Rafa, Jurgen. I never liked Souness as a manager, nor B-rod, nor the hodge, and Slot is falling in that camp because of his way, irrespective of the title win.
03 Jan 2026 00:18:02
Who would have thought telling people what to think would go down like a lead balloon?!
You can love and support your team, while also acknowledging that they have been absolutely crap this season, despite spending an awful lot of money in the summer.
03 Jan 2026 00:19:27
The biggest load of tripe i've read in all the years i been reading this site. When we finish outside the top 6, and are out of the Champions league, i'll remember that it was all the fans fault. After all, it's the fans that tell the players how to play, it's the fans that choose the subs, it's the fans fault that the players are only about 50% fit.
I would have to question what kind of fan you are if you're content of the way we play. We've been pants since before losing to Plymouth. Have a word mate and lay off the meds.
03 Jan 2026 01:33:16
It's just opinions guys.
Nobody is deluded they just have a different opinion than you Victor. I could say that anyone who can't see the improvements in the last month is deluded. I could say that anyone who looks at our squad and doesn't see that this squad could be truly great is deluded but they're not they just have a different opinion than me.
It's a results game and most fans can't see past the immediate performances and results. I choose to look a bit longer term than that and look at the bigger picture but others don't and that's fine.
03 Jan 2026 02:32:50
With all due respect, Johny lad, what do other clubs have to do with us being crap? So because a lot of other clubs are crappy this season, we also need to follow suit and be crappy ourselves? Is that going to be the standard excuse this season? Other clubs are poor, so it's okay for us to be poor?
Also, how long are we going to milk the "Slot won us the league last season" excuse? When players are a bit out of form, it's okay to call for their heads. But when the team is playing dross football, struggling against poor sides for a long period of time, we can't criticise the manager?
03 Jan 2026 02:43:26
Jonny you sound really bitter pal and using a player's death to silence fans that have every right to be annoyed this season isn't going to cut it with me, get off your high horse you are totally out of order blaming the fans for this abysmal season.
03 Jan 2026 04:21:28
Jonny mate we won the league last season and your happy because we aren't as bad now as the Hodgson days? How can you blame the supporters? All the anfield crowd need to get on their feet is a shot, a tackle, win a corner just do anything except slow sideways passing! As for even arsenal being boring, their on the way to winning the title! We are going nowhere and it's very boaring to watch!
03 Jan 2026 04:50:58
It seems one of my replies hasn't been added, which isn't surprising really.
I would hasten anyone to re-read what I have actually written. I have not "blamed the fans" once, in relation to results or performance. I am also not ignorant or stupid enough to blame the fans for either of those things. However, I have been proven 100% correct that it is sad to see the in-house fighting and arguing between our fanbase. It is something I have never seen before to this extent.
As a club as fans we can certainly be discontent with performances and with losing 9 in 12. But as the great Shanks said, if you can't support us when we lose or draw, don't support us when we win!?
I am also not bitter, nor using a players death, but I remember not 5 months ago 99% of the fanbase being understanding to what these young players have been through and had compassion.
I don't think for 1 minute Slot wants us to play in this way, nor do I think he has lost the dressing room. More so I believe that they are working on getting results in a tough league.
I am not happy with the performances, but I can actually take stock of where we are, look at the FACTS as Rafa once said and come up with an understanding of why things are the way they are and give allowances. I just implore the fanbase not to crack and become like Chelski and United fans calling for a sacking (the grass isn't greener) .
{Ed078's Note - from what I can see your last reply was posted 6 hrs ago. Is that not correct?
03 Jan 2026 05:34:45
JB, say what u like about the fans. Some on here think that if you criticize the team u should go and support another club. Without the fans there is no club. The fans have feelings and expectations. This season the latter is not being met.
Klopp inspired the players and hence the fans. He was a visionary. He took us up levels. He took the game to the opponent. He made them FEAR coming to Anfield. A point at Anfield used to be a rare bonus and a "win. " Now it's almost an expectation. Without a half a yard yesterday, we would have lost to a relegation threatened side for almost the second time in a month.
Klopp was proactive. He asked for more from his players, both in training and in the matches. He let the opponent worry about us and figure out how to deal with what we threw at them. Now we have a manager who is reactive, paralyzed by excuses and set piece obsession.
We need a manager who is a visionary and can take the game to the opposition. Slot is too busy trying to stem the set piece tide. His presser today was embarrassing.
03 Jan 2026 06:06:45
J,
How could u blame the fans for results or perfomance? We're not out there kicking balls so I'm not sure how that's possible.
I'm not a lawyer mate but if I don't need to be to put a plethora of swiss cheese holes in your arguments. U don't think Slot wants to play this way and u believe they are working on getting results? Really? I would hope so or what else are they being paid for?
My opinion is that you are about as capable of a water tight argument as the designers of the Titanic.
03 Jan 2026 06:20:28
Bravo Red Flyer.
Slot is not getting the best out of these players.
And its not like he is even trying something different.
Seems like he has found a "solution", we are unbeaten in 8 after all, and is just sticking with it.
03 Jan 2026 08:13:26
I've never really understood this concept that criticising the team or management means you don't support the club?
If Liverpool dropped like a stone to League Two I know I'd still be here, as would many on this site. You can be sure most of the playing staff and the management team wouldn't be. That is what being a supporter is.
That doesn't mean you aren't allowed to call a spade a spade.
03 Jan 2026 10:44:09
I did post another response but it doesn't matter.
Redflyer I am pretty positive you were one of the people who was calling for Klopp's head the season after we won the league when we went on a bad run. And I am sure you have probably been on here ranting during Klopp's tenure too.
No holes in my argument, and I also believe the players need to take as much accountability as the manager this season.
We can make Slot the scapegoat, but there are players in the team who just haven't performed this season.
My whole argument has been that you can feel entitled to be frustrated, disappointed and angry, I have no issues with that. But calling for a managers head 5/ 6 months are winning a title is the mentality of other clubs.
The Leeds result and performance wasn't great, but we kept a clean sheet against one of the most in form teams in the league at present who have been scoring for fun. They put 3 past us at Elland Road. I choose to look for positives, where I feel too many are searching for negatives.
Just think we as a fanbase should be trying to build them up, not knock them down.
And if you didn't see the Robertson interview after the Scotland qualifier I urge you to do so. They may be elite athletes, but they are still human!
03 Jan 2026 11:42:26
There seems to be anew wave over the past 5 years of fans, who've usually never stepped foot in the stadium, who spout toxic positivity in an attempt to bring down fans with genuine concerns as if blindly accepting whatever rubbish sandwich you're served is what a 'true' fan would do.
Slot isn't the right man, should Chelsea have kept Di matteo longer after he won the CL?
03 Jan 2026 12:08:11
We will most likely loose against Fulham tomorrow Jonny.
They attack with pace, are decisive and quite direct on both flanks. Their aggression and pace is good to watch and they won't roll over.
In your view should we accept this as a loss now as a fan base before we play the game?
If this is the outcome should we just keep quiet and carry on?
Please god I'm wrong and we produce a fantastic performance, win 0-3 I'll be delighted. I feel the first outcome most likely.
03 Jan 2026 12:50:54
The original poster hasn't read the room. This thread though is brilliant.
His biggest mistake is calling LFC fans shambolic. By calling us shambolic and telling us to stop the bickering has only made arguments more vociferous.
Hes pulled the pin on the grenade and is now trying to defend his OP.
Brilliant. All I need now is the popcorn ;-)
03 Jan 2026 12:52:10
aha the infamous Johnny haha
well, I am with you 100%.
The fanbase is in absolute disarray right now.
But whatever, people can do whatever they like. It won't change the fact that the team are clearly in a phase of rebuilding.
I long ago accepted where we are at, and have find that it is much better for my mental health and probably my overall health lol
It's also helped to step back and change mindset for how I watch games.
Now I look for the signs of what we are building, rather than the magic moment that it all suddenly clicks and falls back into place.
I'm genuinely excited about that project but we do have a lot of challenges to navigate. Not least of them being managing injuries and fatigue.
anyways, was wondering who this Johnny guy was, who I'd seen mentioned by other posters, usually angrily lol.
03 Jan 2026 14:52:22
Nope wasn't me Johnny.
03 Jan 2026 21:42:31
Love how triggered so many grown adults are from one person asking for a bit of perspective.
Enjoying your comments. Thanks gang.
Oh and they probably don't like me as I correctly informed people about the bids for Isak and Guehi a couple of days before it happened. "Grrrr damn him and his correct information. "
Big love all.
04 Jan 2026 12:42:32
I think coaches have coached themselves into a corner (pardon the pun), they think they are inventing the wheel every season. They have messed about with formations they have messed around with players positional play we have had diamond shape Christmas tree shape and to many numbered shapes like 4-3-3 and 3-5-2 etc. what they do not understand is they are killing the game it is becoming boring to watch and i never thought i would say that about LFC, but it is true .
Now we have coaches for throw-in corners free kicks what did we do before with out them ( sarcastic) and we have the diving, the head injuries, var they are killing the enjoyment of the game five minutes for var to give a goal.
They need to realise that people are spending their hard earned money to watch football how long will they put up with it before they keep their money in there pockets the people who run football have forgotten it is a sport not a cash cow. All the best to all football fans a cross the country.
