I was at a sports industry networking event last night, always to make good contacts in the world I work.

Anyway, a fella I know from Spain was there. I've known him a while, he's even sent work my way (2 Spanish players currently at Arsenal) before. He works with some Barcelona youngsters. We got on to the topic of Enrique and he reckons even tho his contract expires in 2027 if the right project is put to him, he will move this summer. According to him United are going to make a massive push for him this summer. He's not sure if he would or wouldn't be interested in going there mind. Me being me, I couldn't help but ask if he could see us making a move if we decide to get rid of Slot as he's probably the best out there at the moment. He said he doesn't know but feels Enrique would see it as a better project than UTD.

I'm not saying its going to happen but its something to keep an eye on.

10 Jan 2026 17:59:26
Well that would be THE ideal appointment if it were ever to happen. For us I mean NOT United!

10 Jan 2026 18:58:06
I think we are a better project because our owners are hands off, as someone whose been critical of FSG in the past, it's not hard to see that they're better than the likes of Radcliffe by a country mile.

10 Jan 2026 19:12:23
Cheers Thefields, appreciated mate.

10 Jan 2026 19:34:04
And by the same measure, he would view City as a better project than us, where both managers only have a year left on their deals. I'd bet my left nut Abu Dhabi Group have already had a quiet word. Appreciate the info as always, but I don't see this one happening unless Enrique is an undercover red!

10 Jan 2026 20:43:07
Chewy, I agree its more unlikely than likely, especially with current charlatan in charge of these things. For me tho, Citeh is only a better project if you want to buy success.

10 Jan 2026 20:52:19
Why would he see city as a better project with all the crap hanging over them? .
And am sure most people around the world see the Liverpool job as the bigger job oil owned clubs have defended slowed down down with the rules be enforced more and anyone that think city is a big club without new oil money are delusional.

10 Jan 2026 21:14:06
Any Barcelona youngsters we could from him? Ha.

10 Jan 2026 22:54:22
Hope your well the fields!
I have to back this to a certain degree, albeit though, in a different scenario.
I'm in France at the moment to discuss some business and I'll be attending the Lille vs Lyon game (for business) . While out last night, in discussions game up managers moving and where they could end up. Once person, quiet close to PSG stated, as things look, Enrique is looking at new projects. He also mentioned Manchester United and said they are the ones trying to make a move, he also said that with city and psg having the same owners don't be surprised if they try something with pep supposedly leaving in 2027 (same year Enrique contract ends) .

With Liverpool at heart I had to ask a similar question and was met with a very similar reply, he doesn't know if Enrique will leave this summer but if it did happen and it was between us and United, we have the better project for him to work with.
Thanks for sharing the fields.

{Ed077's Note - City and PSG do not have same owners and now your post lost all credibility Sorry.

Thefields - I agree, but the big money clubs attract the big names, and he is coming from PSG, not exactly known for being frugal since QSI took over.

grino75 - And what's happened with the 115 charges? Nothing, and if anything ever does happen, I guarantee you it will be minimal in comparison to the number of charges, a large fine and a 12 point deduction is the best we can hope for. City were already found out by UEFA, twice, what happened there? Nothing. Sure, they were banned for 2 years from Europe, but that was immediately overturned on appeal. And a €60 million fine reduced to €20m if they agreed to play by the rules in future?! Come on, that's a complete and utter joke. 20 millions a drop in the ocean to them. Pep joined City not long after their first incident with UEFA, and they reopened investigations not long after he joined, he's never showed any concern for any of it, including the 115 charges from '23. City were caught paying Mancini double what they had on the books, how do you know they're not doing it with Pep? The truth is most managers wouldn't give a rats ass what the club was doing with their money so long as there was plenty of it to go around, once everyone's getting paid and there's a nice fat transfer budget do you really think anybody's bothered about FFP, PSR or whatever they decide to call it next year?! I don't. It's an absolute disgrace, but sport is corrupt and money grants leeway.

Yes, of course me, you and anyone who appreciates the history of English football know that Liverpool is without a doubt the bigger club and the more prestigious opportunity. Whoever truly returns Liverpool to their former glory as a dominant force will go down in history forever a legend. But the facts remain, City do have the oil money, and that they are the most successful English club of the last 10 years. Whether the rest of us think they're a big club or not, really doesn't matter to a manager, who simply wants to win the league and add another top flight trophy to his cabinet.

11 Jan 2026 06:00:15
Fields, do discussions ever come up about the charges facing City?

11 Jan 2026 07:12:32
That's fair Grino and I'd agree, however he's already joined 1 "oil money" club so he clearly wasn't too fussed about that, so with that in mind I'd be of the same opinion that he'll end up with City.

Hopefully not, and I guess his stock has gone through the roof considering the job he's done at PSG and the "changing of the guard" in terms of getting rid of the big egos and making them a proper team. So I'm sure he'll have his choice.

Id love if he chose us (if we're even in for him), but to me he looks bolt on to be the next city manager unfortunately when pep decides to leave.

11 Jan 2026 08:07:18
People act like we didn't just spend 450 million and don't have more to spend. Of course we can compete with city for him. World class manager and would suit our wanted style of play perfectly so hope we go all out for him.

11 Jan 2026 08:47:12
I thought Michel (Genoa) was the guy to move to MC after Pep, after all his is in the MC owned group of clubs.

11 Jan 2026 10:00:59
Nelly, I thought city's owners were from Abu Dhabi and PSG owners were Qatari?

11 Jan 2026 11:04:15
Alonso is being linked with City as well, there's a queue of potential candidates. When Pep goes they'll have someone lined up and ready to step in seamlessly.

There must be a reason why it's taking so long to announce the charges, it maybe just horse trading going on behind the scenes although city perhaps just aren't willing to do a deal. Whatever it is it doesn't look like it's putting off players or managers from taking up offers to be there.

11 Jan 2026 11:43:08
He's a spoofer.

11 Jan 2026 11:51:20
Ooooh, the plot thins.

11 Jan 2026 12:52:29
Chewy, he doesn't strike me as that type tbh. I think us are a better project all round. Citeh are just financial superiour at the moment. Tough choice, I can see why people would think Citeh tho.

RF, nothing other than a verdict is pending. Rumour has it tho that they are not going to have the book thrown at them tho.

Scouting a certain player Neily? ?.

11 Jan 2026 12:58:25
At least when it comes to mangers, City can't sign more than one at a time lol.

11 Jan 2026 13:55:27
Enrique, if he can be convinced, should be #1 choice for our next gaffer.

He wants to experience the Premier League.

PSG know they can't keep him forever. He's already delivered them to the promised land with their first Champions League win. With the domestic league in France being less competitive, he is well within his rights to want a new challenge at some point.

As for City being more attractive that us - well, I disagree for many reasons. We have pedigree - European royalty. Our revenues are huge. Our wage bills are comparable - at least on book. We have better players, in my opinion. Our global fanbase eclipses theirs several times over. We are not facing over 100 charges of cheating and the reputational hit from that along with the punishment. Our kit is better. Our songs are better. Our stadium is better. We are mystical, magical. Am I missing anything?

City have money, off the books stuff and Pep Guardiola.
One will leave in the new future. One for which they hopefully get punished for.

11 Jan 2026 14:38:43
Everything he said!

11 Jan 2026 14:46:08
He'd get so much freedom and power to do what he wants if he goes to City though. That kind of thing would be extremely appealing to any manager, to work with little to no restrictions. Whatever player he wants he can get since money isn't an issue.

Just look at City now. Every single player that they bought in January last year have been replaced in one way or another. No other club can do that, even ourselves.

11 Jan 2026 06:31:19
???? ed77 well called out.

11 Jan 2026 09:49:44
Maybe his source divulged that they are in fact the same owners, ed077, a secret cabal of evil lizard people bent on using football as a means of world domination and who own every team in the world club cup.

{Ed077's Note - that stuff is for the Talk Conspiracy page ?

11 Jan 2026 14:31:54
Hello all, I have to apologies, I'd had a few tipples last night and obviously got the wrong end of the information. I'm new to all this in the football world and a few mistakes will be made, please bear with me as I get better in my role.

My apologies to you all and the Ed's especially eds077. For future preference I will not post after drinking :)

{Ed077's Note - keep the posts coming. It's a rumours page after all. People ( myself included ) have made way worse mistakes and claims here, it's no big deal.

12 Jan 2026 09:15:44
I would be surprised if Enrique went to man united i don't think he could work with Ratcliffe
He is a con man he has just got millions of pounds out the government to keep one of his companies afloat and inneos are billions in debt and he claims to be a billionaire probably a paper billionaire.

City have got a lot of dirty dealings been going on in the background if you belive the reports in press.
To me LFC are Enrique best bet stable owners who don't interfere they have the right suits in place to assist him and Enrique knows all about the fans and the stadium and the history of the club. YNWA.
