Afternoon Gents,

Multiple reports suggesting FSG want to keep Slot.

This is false for 3 reasons.

1. FSG Don't make those decisions.

2. Liverpool and Slot have came to an agreement that he will leave, not be sacked, he has been under scrutiny for a while, since the start of the year, and they both feel continuing isn't in the best interest of the club, but stressed he would not be humiliated by getting the sack, due to him winning the league last season, if he was to leave earlier, then Gerrard would take control until a new manager was brought in.

3. Liverpool have been talking to 3 specific managers for the role next season, Alonso, Enrique and Andoni Iraola, although as I've said a few times, I've been made aware that it will be Alonso.

Cheers Gents

Thanks, Robbo.
Media and Journos stories have definitely unsettled some nerves....

Please also share info on the 3 suits upstairs if you have any.... Ward, Hughes & Edwards.

13 Apr 2026 15:46:11
Cheers, Robo.

13 Apr 2026 15:57:28
Iraola, every time for me. Alonso is untried in the prem and didn't pull up trees in Spain, and we have to get this appointment right.

13 Apr 2026 16:11:48
Once again, my understanding is that Slot will see out his contract. I've posted this a few times here, and have yet to be convinced otherwise. It sounds like Robbo knows some inside info, but how he would know the details, I don't understand.

We'll all just have to wait and see how it plays out.

13 Apr 2026 16:18:15
I prefer Iraola as well. Hope he gets the job.

13 Apr 2026 16:52:04
70% win rate sounds pretty decent to me with Real Ego FC. I would be happy with any of the 3, but the romantic in me would like Alonso.

13 Apr 2026 16:55:19
KBL, just wondering, is your info from inside or your take on things going on? Not being funny or meaning to insult, just wondering.

I hope the info is correct, and I don't want to insult the ITK, but I'm definitely a believe-anything-when-I-see-it kind of person.

13 Apr 2026 17:42:22
More great news. I believe any of those 3 would be great. Alonso and another half a billion should do the trick.

13 Apr 2026 18:28:16
Not sure it makes sense that there's this clear plan for him to leave, yet no 100% certainty on his replacement, and we're ripping up Mo's contract and not even an offer to Robbo.
I want it to be true, but will believe it when I see it.

13 Apr 2026 18:28:39
Don't get this Alonso failed at Madrid? If you don't want him as your choice then fine but a 70% win rate isn't a fail.

13 Apr 2026 18:32:51
SA - I am employed by the club as a driver for the women's team, and, as such, get some kind of feedback without being serious 'in the know'.

I am sure there are people who might know a lot more than me, but I just can't see how they would know anything in much detail.

I'm with you - believe when I see.

13 Apr 2026 18:34:18
But so was Jurgen Klopp when he took over in 2015, Jari.

13 Apr 2026 18:39:34
Things is, we think there is no clear plan on his replacement. But, for all we know, the replacement, if Slot is leaving, has already signed.

From some rumours I have seen, Alonso has already agreed to a 3 year contract.

13 Apr 2026 18:42:04
KBL, thanks mate, again, hope I didn't offend, just wondering. The summer is going to be interesting.

For me, if anything, it sort of makes sense that he leaves for family reasons.

13 Apr 2026 18:43:43
Alonso didn't fail at Madrid, they were 1 point behind Barca at the time they let him go and he had a 70% win rate, it wasn't the right move for him.
Have to say, I would love it if Enrique left PSG to join the Reds.

13 Apr 2026 19:58:28
Gotta disagree that FSG don't take a view on who we hire as manager. While they want our MD to run the club on a day to day basis, they absolutely drive whatever investment choices we make. We are a massively important part of their portfolio, and they will have been well across all the financial choices we have made, and the increased ticket prices.

Willing to be butchered for this, but surely a price rise is warranted? Huge investment in the stadium, players etc - given the huge price increases in theatre, cinema, pub/restaurants since Covid, surely stadiums are also suffering from the same huge surge in staff costs?

{Ed025's Note - you sound like a true tory MS..

Genuine question: what makes Iraola preferable to Alonso for so many on here?

He is a great manager who has done great things at Bournemouth but he has a win percentage of only 38% and his only silverware is the Cypriot Supercup in 2018.

Alonso's win percentage is 56% (despite taking over a poor team struggling at the wrong end of the table) and he has won the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal and the DFL-Supercup.

People talk about Iraola's PL experience but Alonso played 143 PL games for Liverpool so it's not like he doesn't know the league.

Is it the style of play? Preferred formation? Personal character?

I personally prefer the idea of Alonso but I trust the club to make the right decision and will back whoever comes in.

Ed001 with the things being said about Slot wanting to go at the end of the season and he knows he only got this season it makes his behaviour even worse.
He gets £6m a year and he only has 7/8 months to put his self out but he can't even do that and he keeps pissing off back home.
I am not in the camp that he is a bad coach just very unprofessional for me Ed if our players where trained to the right fitness levels the most of our defeats this season don't happen. Isak has a totally different season because he is fully fit a lot faster he does not pick up that injury because van der ven does not get anywhere near him because he is sharper.

When some people are trying to say it's not all on Slot I could not disagree anymore if you get Gerrard king Kenny Barnes in there peak but they are not at full fitness especially in modern football they can't produce the goods with the game being so fitness based now. So with that Slot and all his coaching team have totally failed and even though they can't produce see it they have failed to change anything. When your hear Slot moaning about games every 3 days that's not because of the games that just effecting him get back home. I wish we had played games every 3 days all season because that would have sorted our fitness issues out.

I want Alonso as he's somebody who knows the club and the city. I'm not from Liverpool but it's important for the manager of any club to integrate like Klopp did.

Alonso lived in Liverpool with his wife. He had a child in Liverpool. He knows what the club means, he touched the This is Anfield sign as a player and his win rate in Germany (according to Wikipedia, 62%) and Spain (70%) have been pretty decent and he knows Wirtz and Frimpong.

Also, as Benitez forced him out, for me it feels like he has a bit of unfinished business. Again, I'm a romantic.

So yeah, I'll take Alonso any day.

13 Apr 2026 20:59:34
Iraola plus points:

1) He can deal with a great deal of "squad turnover". He loses star players all the time and just creates more star players.
2) As above, he improves players. His teams are greater than the sum of the individual player talents, plus his players improve under his coaching.
3) His tactics - a big one for me. His teams press like Klopp's, his teams do more running than most in European football, they attack relentlessly, they are aggressive.
4) He's done all of this at a small club in the Premier League and he's taken points off a lot of bigger clubs.

He clearly has a good relationship with his players, because they pull up trees for him with their running.

He clearly has good communication skills, and can get his tactical plan across with absolute clarity. That's the only explanation for how he manages to deal with the loss of so many players every year.

He also seems to have a bit of Rafa about him, which I don't see in Alonso. Alonso seems a bit "colder" as a personality. Not a criticism, but Iraola has that passion, like Klopp, like Rafa, he kicks every ball, he feels every moment. I like that, I think it inspires the players and I think it galvanises the fans.

No problem with Alonso, I'll be right behind him 100% if he's appointed, but my preference is Iraola.

Mr Ed 25, sorry if I sound Tory, but we too do kind of have to pay for the investment? I reckon it still costs less to attend a game, than watch a theatre show, or a month of Sky tv? If you go to the theatre, bear in mind that even the biggest stars will be on around £500 pw - because they love giving something back.

With the salaries players are on, I am amazed that prices are not higher. They all earn more than, say, Tom Cruise would earn for a 2 hour shift on a set.

{Ed025's Note - its a very unstable world at the moment MS and especially for those on low income,s mate, these are the people that pay for tickets and some cant really afford it, FSG is a multi billion company who have made unbelievable profits on the back of buying Liverpool, im sure they wont be going to foodbanks anytime soon so a freeze on prices would not hurt them too much, it would also endear them to the people of the city and it would be a great PR stunt imo, dont feel sorry for them my friend..

13 Apr 2026 23:45:28
Spot on @25. Well said.

14 Apr 2026 08:05:06
This stuff about our season being the way it has been because Slot is homesick and keeps going back to Holland instead of training the players is honestly getting more than a bit ridiculous. It simply takes something that may be true (that he goes back home on international breaks) and blows it way out of proportion into a full-blown explanation for our season.

Folks who espouse this theory are basically saying he is tremendously unprofessional and is winging it on the job. If that was the case, surely the higher-ups would have intervened by now.

This is an elite football club that we are talking about, and you're making it seem like we have somebody who doesn't give a toss if we win or lose and only cares about collecting his paycheck and sitting in a lawn chair at home.

I mean, it's got to the point where you would even blame Isak's broken leg on Slot, Grino, since he would be sharp enough to miraculously evade Van de Ven's horrific challenge? I mean, come on, you can dislike the manager all you like but for such speculative stuff to pass itself off as an explanation for our season is just insane to me.

14 Apr 2026 08:44:25
The rare voice of reason, PB.

13 Apr 2026 23:39:51
Ed025, the people who say let's pay the increase in prices are proper delusional, I wonder how many games these people actually go or how many they've been over the year.

{Ed025's Note - if the club were in financial difficulty i could see why it could be necessary Strom, at this current time i think its a bad move mate..

14 Apr 2026 08:22:34
I agree with ED25. Sometimes, less is more.

14 Apr 2026 10:07:30
Well Ed025, we let players leave for nothing who we could have got millions on, yet I've heard a few on here saying about just pay the increase in the ticket price, but its not about the extra £2, its the principal of it.

{Ed025's Note - i totally agree Strom..

14 Apr 2026 12:00:26
Come on lads, most people are ripping people off. FSG spent half a billion on players last season, as we are repeatedly told. They invested in the club 2 new stands. I don't mind paying the extra 2 quid to get in, when the traders outside the ground are whacking the prices up monthly.

14 Apr 2026 18:12:29
Surely 2 quid isn't killing people. Especially locals. Everything is going up. Costs me and kids an absolute fortune to get over to a game with flights, accomodation.

14 Apr 2026 20:15:38
Florian, the locals aren't getting the tickets like they used to because of day trippers who get fleeced but are willing to pay it. That's the problem.
