Report from Paul Joyce confirming what we all know now, Slot will be manager next season. Unfortunately as a result seems like this was the catalyst to Salah leaving and more than likely Jones being sold aswell, which leaves us without any form of scouser in the team.

Diomande and Barcola both mentioned. Interestingly Elliot mentioned he could be part of the Diomande deal.

01 May 2026 09:46:24
This is Rodgers 2.0 all over again.

01 May 2026 09:50:42
Let's just hope that Slot really does want to go back home to be closer to his family & that Ajax push even harder to convince him to go.

01 May 2026 09:58:54
Until they extend his deal, I'm not 100% sure it makes no sense going into his last year backing him and giving him a biggish window, only for him to potentially leave and then have to build a team for the next manager.

So, although he probably does stay, I'm a little skeptical until they extend his deal.

01 May 2026 10:03:14
David Ornstein confirmed this weeks ago. People just didn't want to hear it, because they wanted to believe the vague/inconsistent rumours on here. Everyone's entitled to believe what they want, and it's a rumours site, so I'm glad people post what they hear regardless of the source, as it's really fun to talk about, but if you actually take away the emotion, the rumours never made any sense.

What kind of self-respecting bloke would work a 7-month notice period and pretend all the way through that he was part of the plan going into next season? I wanted him gone in November/December, but the longer it went on, the more I realised I just need to suck it up and back the club's decision to keep him.

01 May 2026 10:09:20
It was reported his family didn't move over here due to his children studying for and sitting important age grade exams.
Now, they have been concluded, is it possible his family are now moving over here?

01 May 2026 10:11:38
I'm afraid MK is probably right. Arne Slot na na na na na. Just practicing for next season.

01 May 2026 10:28:53
Whilst I was very much wanting Alonso to come in, outside of him and the unrealistic shouts of Enrique or Klopp, I don't know if any other target makes sense as Slot is a title-winning manager, albeit let standards slide a lot since that moment.

Hopefully, with a change in coaching staff and methods, as well as potentially 2 fast wingers and a fully fit Isak, we can build on the first season rather than a repeat of this one.

01 May 2026 10:31:57
Even if this is true, we all know that he will be gone by Xmas. He's simply not up to it. Decision-making at the club is utterly dysfunctional, and Edwards is only trying to protect his own position. Sunk cost fallacy.

So many absolutely idiotic decisions, some standouts for me:

£446 transfer outlay to go from 1st to 4th/5th, plus insipid football.

Gakpo (paid 5 times what Diaz was paid), and played despite form.

Isak costing more than Cherki, Guehi and Semenyo combined.

Gravenberch & Mac Allister leaving defence exposed over and over.

Embarrassing season, and potentially another one to come. FFS.

01 May 2026 10:34:56
The club is being gutted from the inside out and soon there will be nothing left to remind you that Klopp was ever here. I can't see anything but another sustained period of mediocrity with very little to build on.

01 May 2026 10:51:39
FSGenius75, This is what happens when you give a pair of power hungry, hype masters absolute power. That's not to say that they are not talented in many ways, only perhaps not in the all seeing way they might believe they are.

Does anyone remember when, under B-rod, there was a period of a year or more where the line-ups would be leaked, sometimes even the day before matches? The leaks were plugged using various strategies. It is not safe to be an ITK, that is, if maintaining good relations with seniors at the club is important.

We have already been informed that Edwards and Hughes will not be renewing beyond the 3 years, and I'd be surprised if Hughes leaves now.

He has had some of his power taken away though. He has a style that isn't in keeping with our ethos - you'll never walk alone.

Take all reports with a pinch of salt. Alonso is Edwards' top pick, and is unlikely to take a year out to wait, so this may be the most realistic chance to getting him. The issue is, getting him involves admitting to having made mistakes.

Could anyone with a strong knowledge of Alonso's style of play have a good guess at which players may not fit into his plans?
How may this have a knock on effect to the master plan?

01 May 2026 11:09:46
All this back and forth is giving me a headache.

If Slot stays, I'll back him like I would any manager in my 40 years of supporting the club. If he leaves, I will thank him for number 20 and support the next manager.

Whether we take Ornstein's report as fact, or a club narrative, I think I'm going to wait and see what happens after the last game of the season.

That is no offense intended to Carra, The Fields, FSW, Ned, my friend the Hughes waxer, or anyone else who posts on here.

01 May 2026 11:16:06
FSGenius75, what is this Christmas thing I'm seeing? Why would they be working on bringing in his former assistant (Etienne Reijnen) if he still had 7 months left on his notice period, taking him to Christmas? Why would Slot be sat in pressers saying he's part of the discussions for the transfer targets and staff changes?

If Slot starts the season next year, then at that stage the plan will be for him to complete the season. Results might take another even worse downturn and force the club into action, nobody has a crystal ball, but there is absolutely not going to be some mental pre-plan to give him until Christmas and then make a change, when whoever the manager we allegedly want is ready. What would they do if at Christmas we're top of the League and Champions League, as well as through to the semi finals in the League Cup?

I've said my piece on Slot. I think he has been stubborn tactically, and I've called him a clown more than once because of his obsessive interviews about xG and PSG.

Ultimately, though, the club backed him through a very rocky period and he's still here. So what can I do? Carry on complaining? I'm choosing to wipe the slate clean for the start of next season and give him the chance to prove me wrong. This carry on from the fans is just not helping anyone. Added to that, if we finish 3rd or 4th this season (looks likely) after winning the league last season and then hound the manager out of the club, what does that say about us as a fanbase?

It has been an embarrassing season overall. All of your points are fair. The wasted £450m, Gakpo never being dropped, Isak being a huge flop, the midfield weakness/lack of balance etc. However, the decision is made. Slot's staying as per Ornstein and now Joyce. They've both put their reputations on the line and are saying he will stay as though it is a fact, so some notion they're just putting out lies on behalf of the club is frankly almost as mental as Slot working a 14 month notice period.

01 May 2026 11:18:14
Then why not back him in January and bring back Heitinga. Same predicament for Hughes then, as one moment he's going, the next he's staying.

01 May 2026 11:19:30
This will end in tears.

01 May 2026 11:21:24
As I pointed out in January, after a conversation I had with a good journalist friend. On top of this, I've been told that if Edwards & Hughes depart, it'll only be at the end of next season.

I (for one) am very unconvinced that the "colour by numbers" approach to team affairs & management shown by Slot, Edwards & Hughes is anything more than a shallow misunderstanding of how football works.

My greatest fear is that they will have dismantled all the good work previously done at the club and knocked the 'Scouse' out of LFC.

01 May 2026 11:22:03
Trying to be positive... Next season we've got Jacquet and Leoni, and hopefully a fully fit Isak, Wirtz even better, Bradley fit enough to play a lot more games, and maybe a few more good signings.
Surely we've got too many good players to be mediocre again next season?

01 May 2026 11:28:29
I cannot fathom the lack of fitness in the squad this season and lack of intensity.

If he stays on, he better address this massive issue.

Scary stuff. I can only hope he acknowledges there is an issue and fixes it with an Almighty preseason.

I'm not sure he is overly concerned with it and thinks the issues are elsewhere, to be honest, and I very much suspect he will be sacked next season if he survives the summer.

I hope for the best, but very hard not to be deflated by him staying on.

01 May 2026 11:33:17
I still think he's gone. If he were staying, he would just come out and confirm it, instead of coming out with cryptic quotes like "I'm here for the short to mid long term" etc. Why not say things like I'm looking forward to next season?

So if he's staying, is he still going to jet back to Holland/Ibiza every 10 minutes? Do you think FSG are happy with that arrangement while the performances on the pitch are clearly not up to scratch?

He's gone. I don't care what the journos say.

01 May 2026 11:38:33
Still think he will go and I stand by this.

01 May 2026 11:58:02
MK, I'd argue Ornstein's information has been more inconsistent and vague over the last few years than the information we've received on this site.

If you don't appreciate the information people are sharing, I don't see why you bother visiting the site.

01 May 2026 11:59:54
As incompetent as Hughes and Edwards may be, I refuse to believe they are flat out brain dead. There are egos there, of course, but not stupidity.

Even most of the stats they orgasm over or showing massive underperformance. They have given Slot 450million pounds and he's used it unbelievably poorly. They did nothing in January to back him, and still no word on a new deal.
He will be sacked.

I outright cannot believe he will be here next season. It is genuinely unfathomable. All the reports are coming out now I think are to show respect to Slot having won a league but more so plug leaks.

I also think, what will happen, to protect the reputation or certain journalists, is that Slot will "leave". Mutual agreement will be made public. However, Joyce and Ornstein, following Edwards orders of course, will come out and say, "Liverpool wanted to keep Slot, but the Dutchman was unsettled and having family issues and wanted to go back home." Something along those lines.

There is literally no way Slot stays. I refuse to believe such a depressing unrealistic sickening idea.

01 May 2026 12:02:08
Two things stand out for me as regards to Joyce's statement.

1) No talk of a new contract, his current deal ends in 2027.

2) FSG trust the manager, but expect that faith to be justified.

This just feels like a sequel to the Brendan Rodgers days, it's got Godfather 3 vibes, a good idea in theory, but a disaster in reality.

01 May 2026 12:24:47
I think Hughes and Edwards are more to blame for how the 450m was spent than Slot.

01 May 2026 12:25:02
ToonRed, I'll reiterate what I said right from the start; "Everyone's entitled to believe what they want, and it's a rumours site, so I'm glad people post what they hear regardless of the source, as it's really fun to talk about".

Just as they can post whatever they want, though, I'm entitled to believe what I want and give an honest opinion on those rumours. If I was getting personal, I'd understand your reply, but nowhere have I insulted any of the alleged ITK's or even come close to demanding they stop posting.

I've simply said that in some specific cases their rumours don't make logical sense, and have been vague and inconsistent. That's no different to somebody having an opinion about my posts about players or tactics. It's an open forum, ultimately. Anything you post here (opinions, rumours, banter, etc) has to be open to scrutiny, else you might as well remove the "Reply" function.

01 May 2026 12:37:19
I'm not a big fan of Slot, but I do find it annoying the lack of respect he receives from some fans. He is not Brendan Rodgers. He is still regarded as one of the best coaches in Europe. His style of football is not to my taste, but I do accept that he has had to deal with injuries to 5 out of the 7 new signings, the sale of Diaz against his best judgement, the loss of form of Salah, Maca and Konate, injuries to Alison, and the death of Jota.

He has managed Rio's minutes well when it must have been tempting to over play him. Oh, and he won the league and no one called him Rodgers then. If there was a clear alternative of the calibre of Enrique, then I get the scramble. I don't buy into the romance of Alonso because there is no evidence he is an outstanding coach. He may become one, but he isn't one just yet. Iraola, maybe.

01 May 2026 12:39:14
Personally, I think there is great potential for growth out of adversity.

I look forward to Slot's redemption arc.

01 May 2026 12:43:48
I agree, Joey.

01 May 2026 12:48:17
I still think he will go too fat wallet. With you on this.

I just think a man, he knows he is close to the edge, but getting another season would use the time he has to improve things instead of holidaying before a key game against Man United.

I know things are looking good for CL qualification, but we are not there yet, and this is the business end of the title. In my eyes, only a man out the door makes that decision.

Hoping all this talk of him staying is that he can leave on his own terms, and the resignation comes from the man himself to return to Holland and be with his family.

If that happens, then I give the club some dues for honouring a title winning coach with dignity. It was an Almighty gamble to keep him this long, but it might work out nicely for them and him if he leaves this way.

Let's see.

01 May 2026 12:53:16
Agree with MK. If Slot starts the season, the plan is for him to finish it. This notion of something happening at Xmas is ridiculous. Also, agree with him on his views of people not wanting to listen to the likes of Joyce and Ornstein simply because it's not what they wanted to hear.

01 May 2026 12:54:13
Jari, Rodgers came 2nd and missed out on a title by only 3 points in what was a far more competitive season with a genuine 4-horse race. Slot won because Cty and Arsenal had a massive drop-off. Had they played as well as the season prior, Slot would have finished 3rd. He's very much in Rodgers territory.

01 May 2026 13:18:16
Literally the worst argument - "if they played better, then they would have won".

Yeah, if we played better this season we'd be winning the league.

01 May 2026 14:15:00
Brilliant, isn't it, Faith. ? Love the Chewy logic.

01 May 2026 14:26:35
So you're saying that Rodgers could have won the title if he had the job instead of Slot, then, because City and Arsenal just rolled the red carpet for Liverpool and whoever was lucky enough to be in the hot seat at the time?

Also, according to most posters on here, we should have won the title at a trot with the squad we have now (which many claimed was stronger than the one we won the title with), so doesn't that mean that we let Arsenal or City win it?

Not sure which narrative to believe anymore.

01 May 2026 15:36:29
Faith, Florian, Patrick, the level of waffle you 3 talk to defend Slot warrants medical investigation.

01 May 2026 16:44:00
Oh someone needs meds alright Chewy?

01 May 2026 17:57:45
Florian these are your words..I think Hughes and Edwards are more to blame for how the 450m was spent than Slot..The mental gymnastics you go through to defend Slot is laughable. You were praising Slot last summer. You're on the wind up.

01 May 2026 18:58:08
I think they all have a say on signings, don't think Slot gets the final call. Where's the gymnastics? We all know there's things Slot wanted to happen last year that didn't happen. That being said, the weaknesses in our squad after the money spent paint none of the three in a good light.

01 May 2026 19:39:15
Florian you are a troll, you do everything but criticise the manager. I guarantee Klopp would do better with these signings. That's the bottom line this fraud can't get the best out of them. That's before any of his frailties have been listed.

01 May 2026 20:39:36
I'm sure he would, Frode, but sure Klopp is on a different level to every manager bar Pep.

01 May 2026 20:53:40
I wish I could be so utterly crap at my job and still not get fired.

01 May 2026 22:44:25
@Frode, rhetorical question, why is somebody a troll simply because they have a different opinion to you?

I see we have shifted the date of Slot's departure to Christmas now? Maybe he'll leave a bit earlier in December for Sinterklaas? I see a bit of momentum for Slot being the new Rodgers - won't be long til we start calling him Blot.

02 May 2026 07:14:43
I don't think I have defended Slot once in this thread? I'm simply asking that you substantiate the arguments that you've made. How convenient of you to rally the Slot Out brigade when it's entirely besides the point.

02 May 2026 08:52:29
This gets funnier by the day.

02 May 2026 11:34:32
Ok, Chewy.

So we agree, if we play better, we would win the league.

Hands in, agree on three..!
