Don't shoot the messenger.
I've just received a message from a friend who works for a major bank in France. Apparently terms and payment structure have been agreed for Barcola.
As VG said yesterday, it could be a big news day today.
21 Aug 2026 11:30:11
Thanks, Fields.
21 Aug 2026 11:36:14
Last time I shot the messenger, I got my posts deleted. ? And I'm good to avoid that.
But I can't resist.
Bang Bang. You're my third messenger shooting.
21 Aug 2026 11:38:18
Thank the lord, Fields. We are looking very thin in the squad!
21 Aug 2026 11:45:09
Finally!! Thanks, TF.
21 Aug 2026 11:59:44
Thanks, Thefields, appreciate the update.
21 Aug 2026 12:06:18
Cheers, Thefields.
21 Aug 2026 12:06:50
Hope this long saga is over today.
21 Aug 2026 12:07:03
Cheers, Fields...Fingers crossed an announcement today.
21 Aug 2026 12:05:13
Fields if we shot you how would you be able to attend another retreat

This Barcola deal feels like the longest drawn-out transfer ever.
It feels like it has held up all our business, and the place he plays is probably our least concerning, with Gakpo, Munoz, Rio, and even Wirtz.
I hope we sign a right forward as soon as this soap opera is concluded.
21 Aug 2026 12:30:39
The fact 3 of the main ITKs have all spoken up in the last 24 hours. Things must be moving fast behind the scenes. Maybe the club minority sale was holding things up? ?
21 Aug 2026 12:33:05
Yes! Thanks, Thefields. Hopefully this saga is coming to an end.
21 Aug 2026 12:34:27
It's about time we got this one done, finally! Thanks, TF
21 Aug 2026 13:05:47
I don't know if anyone has said it yet, as I'm not online, but thank you to TheFields.
21 Aug 2026 13:06:56
Has it held up all our other business, though? We got Araujo in on loan, put in a bid for Minteh, and enquired about Mbaye while waiting for Barcola, who knows what other things are going on in the background.
21 Aug 2026 13:11:36
Bdog, I doubt it very much. The minority stake sale has nothing to do with the transfer staff.
21 Aug 2026 13:17:01
Barcola 'done deal' then?
21 Aug 2026 13:32:58
Simao, I don't think this deal will happen today.
21 Aug 2026 13:50:28
Is it a Bogof with Mbaye?!
21 Aug 2026 13:58:45
Can Bogof play CM?
21 Aug 2026 14:00:09
Razor, I wouldn't mate. ?
Just so you know, the deal won't be complete today, not enough time for the medical, etc., and we tend not to announce signings on a weekend. It's just the finances being agreed, which should trigger news of a deal being agreed.
The Barcola deal has not held others back from being completed or worked on. A new shortlist needed to be created with all the stuff that happened earlier in the summer with Slot and Edwards leaving.
21 Aug 2026 14:09:34
It's Barcola plus:
A torch, a CurlyWurly, a book of stamps, a free digital watch with a denim strap, a vodka miniature, a Bic-style razor and a copy of the Daily Express. Ooooh, it's a s*** paper!
21 Aug 2026 15:35:04
Overpriced!
21 Aug 2026 16:42:13
I would never shoot the messenger.
Nor did I shoot the deputy.
21 Aug 2026 16:57:23
@Kaka, seems the club has a different opinion than you. Until Bezos comes knocking on your front door for a contribution to transfer fees I wouldn't worry about it.
21 Aug 2026 21:13:34
West Derby, we were never a club who would make such desperate moves in the transfer market. One thing I loved about LFC, specially under Klopp era, was we made smart transfer decisions, had an eye for talent, signed and scouted players who could come and become stars, rather than just buying any XYZ who did well in a farmers league.
21 Aug 2026 22:08:29
Kaka. Keita, Nunez, Karius, Grujic, Arthur Melo, all fit the xyz category under Klopp.
He wasn't immune to not getting every transfer right, no manager ever has been or will.
21 Aug 2026 22:40:53
Lol Lofty your analysis is soft as a softy.
Kieta and Nunez were the only high money signings but none of them were stars when they came in or closer to a star signing and yes they didn't live up to the expectations but both of them could have become stars had they performed to the expectation. Kieta was injury prone and lacked physicality, nunez had poor finishing but people on this website still wanted him back. The good part was we made big potential signings early in stage at good price and that showed our scouting ability and apetite for risk.
All the remaining signings you mentioned again were big potential signings and not at all expensive, grujic infact was sold for profit. BTw arthur who was on loan and was just signed last minute to have midfield cover so you completely lost your plot there.
21 Aug 2026 23:35:22
They were all xyz signings based on doing well in farmers leagues, irrespective of their transfer fees (we paid a fee of about £3m to loan Arthur), and Karius was brought in to be Klopps's 1st choice keeper, I remember Ed002 repeatedly saying that Klopp decided that and was even spinning Mignolet a line, it took a World record signing to replace him.
The Klopp era has been my favourite time as a fan of 40 years, but it wasn't perfect
Coudda, woulda, shoudda, didn't.
