Wonder if will go for the lad "Dro" from Barcelona if its true his leaving them, only 18 but if we are going to spend on youth and hope we sneak top 4 seem a good prospect the little I have seen of him.

Hi all,

Unfortunately the Guehi deal didn't happen because we wouldn't pay a) what he wanted, and b) what palace wanted.

For what it's worth I think we've dropped the ball there.

This one is more on Edward's and than anyone else, which may surprise a few.

I believe the Semenyo scenario is similar.

Other than the obvious exits I haven't heard anything on any "first teams".

I expect a LOT of change this summer. Alonso remains the biggest "target".

Cheers.

Could we not offer Palace 30million for Guehi and turn their head to a better deal.

They don't want to pay the £20 million according to the ITK's never mind £30 million. Then there's the reported £300,000 a week. It's not happening so it's time to move on. If we miss out on CL football it will be down to Hughes and Co and they should be sacked.

If the rumors are true Slot is getting sacked for a below par season then they have to fall on the sword as well.

Think I had the pleasure of chatting to Ed 1 and Ed2 on the 10.40 train back to Euston the next day after the April 24 Goodison derby- two scholarly Reds who first mentioned Arne coming and how he was such a good guy.

He was then and still is. Matching going Reds don't want Arne gone - they can see how the team is progressing. Loved him as a player for us, but Xabi rejected us twice. We're all happy with Arne at Anfield thank you.

{Ed001's Note - what?}

Maybe Xabi Alonso is not keen on Semenyo and Guehi for when he takes over from Slot.

I will just say it. I don't think everything is good behind the door at LFC. This window is a glaring reflection of it. We need a winger and a CB and signed neither of our prime targets and then You throw the manger the gauntlet to get top4. How? He has no defence and no real option on wings. We change back 4 every 2 games and how are we supposed to have run if by feb we could possibly have a back 4 with szobo gravy and kerkez. Next year by all accounts i think we will loose konate, salah, macca, ali, robbo and probably vvd.

And add to that slot and hughes thats a huge rebuild! These are all first team starters! Yea that 150m adventure on Isak is looking like a massive blunder now! It felt such a un Liverpool like move at the time and their was not much excitement cuz it dragged out so long. Everyone was happy we got him but our fears at the time are coming true. I still hope slot can pull a miracle in CL but with no backing in the window I think we are done ?.

Agreed it's not looking good Cafu, but I do still think Isak will be a solid purchase. He hasn't just become awful overnight. He's come into a team of players that he's not used to, that they are not used to, not playing in a united way, with clear backroom issues going on and supposed dissatisfaction with the style of play, without a preseason behind him whilst being coached by supposedly a very poor fitness team and now he's injured.

I think he'll be fine when he's back and playing regularly.

Watch Hughes give Konate £250,000 per week now! ??‍♂️ Given that Guehi is on a free in June what did LFC expect his wage demands to be? Embarrassing carry on!

Debate Just my opinion on Guehi, when we agreed the deal in the summer my thoughts were, wasn't expecting this deal, didn't see him coming in and dislodging league winning partnership of Konate and Van Dijk, yes agreed after Quansah left we were short, but a guy who wanted to play week in week out to cement his place in Englands World Cup squad wondered how it would work? Go back to July would you have Guehi starting in our XI? Now things have haven't exactly gone as we'd like regards form and vacated midfield protection. Also our weakness on set pieces is not first phase, where Konate and Van Dijk have a super high win percentage. Its second phase system set up which has been the Problem. Guehi Aerial success rate is 50-60% Konate and Van Dijk both 70-80%. Game has changed this season winning aerial duels is more important now. Think profile of next centre back will be more aerially similar to our current group. Also we can't afford to run a group as follows. Stones 250k a week Dias 180k to 250k a week Gvardiol 200k a week Dias 180k a week Akanji 180k a week (Inter paying probably 70%) Ake 160k a week Khusanov 50k a week Reports are that City are going to pay Guehi £300k a week, guess this is the cost of a mid season deal of a player with 6 months left to run on his current deal, not the fee being the issue.

£15.6m a year, big hitter on psr. Don't know what kind of salary we agreed in the summer reported to be between 100-200k a week, probably top end of that Man City centre back salary cost £63 million per year Liverpool Van Dijk 350k per week Gomez 85k per week Konate 70k per week Leoni 55k per week £29-30 million per year. Nathan Collins type I think is more likely. Lower wage impact more accepting of a squad player role. Just a comparison our deal in the summer going on the basis of £35m fee and 200k a week on 5 year deal. Cost for PSR is £87.2m, compared to City's deal now reported £20m fee and 300k a week on 5.5 year deal £98m. Thoughts.

I'm not that bothered about him going to City. Yes, we 100% are too light at the back and need reinforcements but for me the big selling point was more about him being homegrown than being world class. He plays on the left of a back 3 so although I'm sure he could play on the right of a 2 it is not his most natural or preferred position so he would likely be a long term replacement for Virg rather than fix the Konate problem. We have Leoni for the long term (and possibly present once fit) so If we go out and sign another top quality defender in the summer then the future will look a lot better and we will be in the same position that signing Guehi in the summer would have left us in. The worry is more around backup and the need to replace Gomez as well as Konate.

We really need to shift some of the non-hg players who can not justify a place in the squad in order to replace Gomez (unless we sign a different homegrown CB like Konsa). Endo and Chiesa are probably the 2 that would have the least impact if they had to be sold due to the game-time so it isn't the end of the world but signing some hg players would provide us more flexibility in the market. I'm sure there is a plan so I'm not overly concerned. We have also signed 3 young CBs this window. I don't know if any will make it or if any are close to being part of the squad but I believe at least 1 of them is very highly rated. It's not an ideal position that we are in but it is far from disastrous.

Apparently Guehi is going to be on a 5 year contract worth £300k p/ w at City. Transfer fee and wages make that deal worth around £98m, before any other signing fees, agent fees or bonuses are included. That seems absolutely bonkers for a player that'll likely be on the bench or shoved out to RB once all of City's options are fit and available again.

In theory we could sign Schlotterbeck for £60m and agree a 5 year contract worth £140k p/ w (doubling his current wages) for around the same overall price that City paid for Guehi.

Looks like the fee for Gheui is 20m, what a bargain.

Sorry bu £300k per week wages is not a bargain though. Let's not tell only half the story.

All us not ITK posters called this months ago. No Semenyo, no Guehi. Total disgrace considering what we need to bring in. Who in the summer are we going to get who is better than Guehi that costs as little as 30 million? All these ITK posters feeding nonsense these last few months need to give thier heads a wobble. Those two were NEVER coming to Liverpool.

And us that were saying that got a right rakinng over for saying it. Slot and his best buds running the club needed to go in the autumn its too late now. In the summer the new manager will have a team desperately short on defensive quality and have to spend twice what Guehi cost City to get it. Total bin fire in the board room.

Hard work you are mate, my word you speak some sh*te. If you don't like the ITK's posts, you don't have to read them.

16 Jan 2026 18:31:35
Ok I will bite Kimu. First I ask, what's your problem? Is it jealousy or something because you don't get info or are just a big hairy troll under a bridge somewhere? Secondly. The fact of the matter is Citeh offered what the clubs wanted and wages we would never offer. For these reasons the club didn't move. None of us are Mystic Meg sitting with a crystal ball in front of us, so we can't predict the future.

We go off the here and now. The world doesn't stand still, its constantly moving. So things will and do change. Something your tiny brain doesn't seem to comprehend it seems. If anyone needs to give their head a wobble, its you my friend.

Ignore him Fields. I just see the name and move on.
