I've seen a rumour that a club, other than Chelsea, have submitted a significant bid for Caicedo at Brighton, any chance it could be Liverpool as an alternative to Lavia?
I'd be happy with him and 1 quality CB being the end to our summer spending.

Just been reading this, apparently £80 million, but no idea if it’s true. Good player and would be happy if we did sign him.

2.) 02 Aug 2023 21:56:43
City or Saudi?

3.) 02 Aug 2023 21:57:48
Saudi’s mentioned.

I hope it’s not us to be honest. The lad seems to be motivated by money. That’s fair enough, his motivation is his concern, but it isn’t the trait I’d prefer to see in someone coming to the club.

4.) 02 Aug 2023 21:50:35
I’m going to predict a “no” from Ed002.

5.) 02 Aug 2023 22:56:39
Nonsense all footballers are motivated by money in my mind
He is a very good player, get him in on a long term deal.

6.) 02 Aug 2023 23:20:39
The only problem with caicedo is he won't stick around long. he wants madrid clearly.

7.) 02 Aug 2023 23:31:11
When was the last time you heard football players are not motivated by money? Even our beloved Salah asked for more money when he signed his contract extension. But there's a difference between wanting to be paid fairly in the market vs signing with any club that's willing to pay the most.

8.) 03 Aug 2023 04:51:33
@Playtowin23, so anything that doesn’t tally with what’s in your mind is nonsense?

I presume your mind was having a day off last week when Mbappe said ‘no thanks’ to Al Hilal?

9.) 03 Aug 2023 06:41:45
Well it won’t be us that’s bid for him! We are currently low bidding on a player valued at half Caicedo’s value so absolutely won’t be us.

10.) 03 Aug 2023 11:10:02
Good job our last captain wasn’t motivated by money.

11.) 03 Aug 2023 11:59:25
Great point @JK a new angle on the debate - it’s what was needed.

12.) 03 Aug 2023 13:12:44
Caicedo isn’t good enough and at £80m would be a worse investment than Keita. Steer well clear.

13.) 03 Aug 2023 15:06:30
What planet are you on becker. caicedo is premier league proven already. 80m is the right price too I feel. Much better than the 50m for lavia, that's a other keita in my eyes.

14.) 03 Aug 2023 15:41:15
My opinion Magico. I’ve watched the guy play at least 10 times and I’ve never seen anything that suggests to me he’s worth any more than £30m.

Decent engine I suppose but as to footballing ability he’s not shown me anything. Estupinan is the better player of the 2 from Brighton.

15.) 03 Aug 2023 19:12:35
Not sure Liverpool will now spend 80 million on a midfielder they baulked at 88.5 million for Jude Bellingham.

16.) 03 Aug 2023 19:56:11
Opinions differ becker. doesn't matter anyway mate, even players like caicedo are out of our league these days.

17.) 03 Aug 2023 20:24:35
Our transfer policy is about getting players hoped to be the right players and at what Liverpool think is a good price, wages have to suit as well.

We could have signed a lot cheaper than Szoboszlai if our transfer policy was all bargain basement stuff. Too many on here just keep moaning utter nonsense. It's one thing to have an opinion on a player or tactics, that's fine it's different opinions and can be interesting to read but the utter nonsense moaning about money the whole time and completely disregarding reality - that's annoying to read.

First time poster, is the Mbappe rumour so silly if we sold Salah to PSG as part of the deal?

Clemence

{Ed025's Note - yes mate..

1.) 06 Jul 2023 21:21:02
I think he’s jump at the chance to play in the Europa league on quarter of the wages.

2.) 06 Jul 2023 22:35:13
Welcome to the site mate.

3.) 06 Jul 2023 22:37:51
I heard he has applied for evening shifts in Tesco too.

4.) 06 Jul 2023 22:30:55
I’ve got more chance of bagging Margot Robbie and I’m an ugly person!

{Ed025's Note - luckily for me tom im George Clooney,s doppleganger mate.. :)

5.) 06 Jul 2023 22:54:54
‘Person’ …. lost its impact on what i actually said i feel haha.

6.) 07 Jul 2023 08:35:42
Never happening. I dunno why people believe this crap. Look at it this way, FSG would be breaking every rule in their playbook to sign him. Does he even want us? He could pick his next team. PSG are holding him to ransom saying if you go we'll sell your teammates. I hope he gives them the finger just fir that.

7.) 07 Jul 2023 10:13:51
You are beautiful on the inside Tom, just remember that ?.

8.) 07 Jul 2023 10:24:54
Bulk, I actually disagree with that 'holding him to ransom' remark. From another perspective, Mbappe is effectively holding his club to ransom. PSG created a rod for their own back by giving him the control and power he craved. I in no way feel for PSG, but they have spent millions upon millions on these players, craving success only for these players to effectively sit back and take the pi$$. They have constantly under performed year on year whilst happily picking up their pay cheques and basically doing what they want. Neymar with his trips to Brazil for the carnival etc.
I thin it has taken City winning the CL to finally make PSG realise their mistakes. They are finally trying to get rid of the high earners/ low performers and understandably want a financial return on a player they have spent hundreds of millions on who has continually flirted with Madrid every year.
PSG deserve the embarrassment and ridicule they receive, but to say Mbappe is being held to ransom is nothing short of a joke.

9.) 07 Jul 2023 10:40:58
Stuie_boy, i am not going to pretend i know the ins and outs of his situation, but i was commenting solely on what i read on sly sports, in that PSG said they would sell his teammates if he left. Like why would that concern him anyway? I agree with what you said, but regardless of his supposed actions, he could literally pick his next team. In all honesty, I don't care how good he is, I wouldn't want him at Liverpool for the sole reason of the circus that surrounds him. Same goes for messi or ronaldo or the olympic gold medalist diver neymar.

10.) 07 Jul 2023 12:40:54
No worries bulk, wasn't taking particular aim at yourself, was more a general observation about how utterly ridiculous the world of elite sport is now. I find it absurd that players can effectively belittle their employers yet waltz away into a new club getting paid even more obscene amounts only to do the same thing again.

11.) 08 Jul 2023 11:20:52
PSG, Real Madrid and Mbappe all deserve each other.

12.) 08 Jul 2023 17:15:07
How can he "pick his team"? Which teams can pay a 200m transfer fee, and 1m/ week? There are only about three. And what if 2 of them don't want to do it?

PSG created this mess. Not that they care. It's not their money . . .

13.) 08 Jul 2023 17:19:40
I agree Stuie and the time it took you to type that post, PSG probably just paid him about another €30,000 or something. Let’s not feel sorry for these soon to be billionaires. Let’s feel sorry for the academy kids that don’t make it, and end up with gambling and drug addictions, or the local football clubs that fall into administration.

When I hear about these players going for £50 million and earning a million pound a day etc, it just angers me and I know I made the right decision to cancel my sky package. They started this whole thing. All this “super Sunday” nonsense. It’s just a football match, nothing super about it and the guys running about really do not need £50k a week to kick it about a bit.

Football has become a joke, just look at the state of the England team. So much talent and money thrown at it, and you just have the Jack Grealish “lad” culture which will always be Englands downfall and why they will never win anything. I’d be embarrassed to show my face if I was an England player.

If we did accept 200million, all upfront, no add ons, I propose we use 10million to pay the contractors that Buckingham have let down and not paid (if we are legally allowed) . I would rather the club was not responsible/ associated to any more Companies folding and more people losing their jobs.

Clemence

1.) 05 Sep 2023 18:25:56
Are you serious ? We weren't the only job they had on the go and I'm sure the owners of the company are financially sorted for generations to come! The owners have the moral issue, they could pay out of their own pocket, why lay it at LFC's door.

2.) 05 Sep 2023 18:37:42
Clement, why on earth would a company just pay 10m if they are not obligated?

Imo the UK is in bad recession, it’s being tagged as the Silent Depression, there’s statistics to show that currently we are worse off than the people of the 1929/ 30s Great Depression, hence the tag silent depression.

It’s not good people losing their lively hoods, that I agree totally, yet unfortunately it’s going to get deeper before it gets Great.

Something that people are missing regarding the Saudis, they join BRICS on Jan 1st 24, along with 5 other countries, when that happens, the West will no longer be the power house financially it was.

With the above in mind re Saudi, maybe these footballers etc are aware what is happening, I think the Saudis may be in regards to football around a long time, they will be armoured with gold backed currency, massive oil reserves which they can tap into, btw BRICS will not follow the UN 2030 agenda of no oil let claptrap, BRICS also will have by far the greatest population size on the planet to trade with, other countries are queuing up to join approx 40 or so more.

3.) 05 Sep 2023 20:12:10
Surely it's just bad management by the building company, it's not Liverpool fault.

4.) 05 Sep 2023 21:02:46
Buckingham are in that position due to their own negligence and nothing to do with LFC, not sure why the club would be required to pay anything.

5.) 06 Sep 2023 07:54:46
Unfortunately the club probably will have to pay someone to get the work finished, Buckingham won't be finishing the job.

I/ we obviously have no idea what funds are available to buy players this summer to ensure we comply with FFP and have the cashflow. But if there are additional monies I would prefer to find 90million and go for Caicedo, more prem experience and a little older and wiser. anyone else agree?
