Lad's I'm feeling a bit radical this morning so I'm actually going to wait to see this new loan signing play before I pass judgement. Now, he could be absolutely muck or he could be brilliant, who knows. So, having said that, welcome to Liverpool Ronald Araujo and the very best of luck. YNWA

Well said.

Bloody hell. A sensible comment. I must be on the wrong site.

Well said, Barry. I hope we still bring in a dedicated RB, but the option to buy is a good deal for both clubs and the player. If he stays fit, I think he'll make a valuable contribution across all competitions.

Wait has something happened to the site Ed's?

Surely nothing but knee jerk slagging off players who haven't even pulled the shirt on is allowed on here

Well said. New start for whole squad.

A CDM & RW now please.

Great to see youth getting a chance under AI too.

Feeling more positive about first game away at Newcastle too after their transfer business.

Just woken up to the araujo news. I have never seen him play so I will reserve judgement.
Eds or ITKs I see he can play cb and rb do you think the idea Jia he will be the only defensive signing?
My only concern would be his injury record, but I think this is a decent signing.

I would still like us to sign a proper rb though. I have huge doubts over Frimpong and we just don't know how Bradley will return

Welcome Ronald to the best club in the world.

Now, that wasn't so difficult, was it, and well done to the other decent human beings welcoming a new player joining us on here.

It's so good to see comments like this. Some of the comments on here have been downright nasty. Maybe, some people need to actually try think before they post.

Ed001 I see a lot of negativity about the Ronald Araujo.
I've not really seen a lot of him play but we seemed to been linked with him for years.
One question for you Ed and everyone that thinks he is a bad signing is he better or worse than Konate?
For me he seems to make sense because we have so many young cb at the club a loan signing gives the two young cb a little more time to to recover from the injuries.

We apparently have the best fans in the world, after this signing and the outcry in starting to wonder...

First time I seen him play for Barca, I thought, wow, what a player. Reminded me of Virg. I've never understood why he got a bit of a bad rap, but going from what comments I've seen about him, people say he can be rash and is injured all the time. Is it a case of him being out injured, then looking rash when getting back to fitness, then being out again, I wonder.

Fans also turn on players when they are injured a lot. Out of the team for a while = crap player for some supporters. I just hope he can stay fit, because if he can, he could be great for us.

Makes sense to me. Why splash a lot of cash when Leonie and Jaquet should be close in September. We have other areas we need to spend in. I'm sure we spent quite a bit on young CB last season, who are in the reserves.

Anytime I've watched him play I thought he quite good. We badly needed bit of experience at cb so I'm happy enough.
Can he cover rb ed1 do u know? Would prefer specialist rb myself but just wondering is that the plan for him to cover both positions

This is an amusing aspect, Grino. We have been linked with this guy every year since he was 23, it isn't just a random name available.

Why do some Liverpool fans regard themselves as the best in the world?

Imagine the time, effort, dedication and skillset to be the best at anything in the world. And, then to be the best football fan you just have to say you support a successful super club from behind a keyboard and there you are automatically the best in the world.

My granddaughter is 6 weeks old and had a Liverpool bib and is now already a better football fan than the other 99% of the world.

He's become a bit of an internet meme because of those red cards in big games. So people are just jumping on that. Day to day he's a good defender.

Ed001 Well if he is better than Konate with the Jacquet and Leoni hopefully fit for the season our defence seems a good bit stronger than last season. Would love a new right back as am not sure Frimpong and Bradley are reliable and am not a fan of cb playing there.

Valverde and Araujo can help each other settle in with both being Uruguayan and coming from Spanish clubs... 🤞🤞🤞🤞

I wouldn't want Valverde anywhere near our club. He doesn't pass the knobhead test for me

You're maybe right, Dracred, after looking into him. Busts up with team mates can happen, so that doesn't bother me. His celebration in 2017 is more inexcusable. That was 9 years ago, though, when he was a kid, so it would be nice to think he has matured since then.

Those are the 2 controversial things I could find on him. Are there other things too? Wouldn't blame the club for steering clear just for those 2 things, though.

Ed1,
I've never really seen much of Araujo.
Always value your opinions.
Do you rate him?

Thanks

Very sensible reply Ed01. As always in fairness.

Very good player. Injury history a little sketchy, but last year was more down to well being.

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - that is much harder to repair than most physical injuries but it is possible a change of scene and a fresh start can work wonders.}

That seems to be issue.
Given the intensity of English football, and the style of AI, let's hope he deals with it better then Spanish football,
Somehow.

Thanks Ed

Sometimes a change and a new start can help.

A close family member of mine always says he feels trapped when it gets bad, and that a reset might work.

But everybody is different, there's no easy fix, unfortunately.

I hope for his sake and ours, it works out, he's happy and is a success. Ynwa lad.

Nice words. Depression is not an easy fix as I know from experience. With all the understanding of the effects now, I wonder how Stan Collymore would be with the support available nowadays.

When did we become so negative about a signing, he was barcelona captain, in his prime at 27, has a lot of experience, can play cb or rb and if he doesn't work out we don't have to pay for him at the end,
We are Liverpool where we back the players and the managers until the end (or until it gets to much like under slot) be nice to hear ed001 opinion on him if you have time.

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - on the face of it, the move makes sense, but I do have fears about his fitness. Ability-wise he looked very good when I saw him but he has had a lot of injuries since.}

Am I the only one pleased with the araujo signing? Ed001 what's your take? I think given we have a lot of promise with Jacquet and Leoni, who need time to recover/acclimate, this makes a lot of sense to me.

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - all hinges on fitness.}

Ed what's your take on Araujo? He was very highly rated at one point. Think I remember him having some kind of mental health issues a while back and haven't seen much of him since. I don't watch too much football outside the prem/ champions league so would like to hear you opinion on him, thanks

1

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - it has been a while since I saw him play but he always looked very good. I can remember one particular time against Madrid when he destroyed Rudiger in a duel, the clip of it ended up going viral, as he looked a monster right then. However, since then he has spent most of his career injured, so I would worry about him staying fit in a more physical league.}
