Ed's I've noticed a slight increase in noise that Trent might be open to returning due to not playing (doesn't look Jose's cup of tea) do you think that's likely or has he burnt all his bridges now?
{Ed001's Note - highly unlikely.}
27 Aug 2026 16:07:51
Would love to see Mou's first interaction with Trent. Bring on Amazon documentary!!!
27 Aug 2026 16:10:07
Move on!
27 Aug 2026 17:24:07
Have you seen Trent play lately? And injuries he has been getting. Stay away.
27 Aug 2026 18:46:05
There is no noise worth listening to about Trent at this point, imo.
He made his bed and frankly, he seems to be over the whole thing.
Maybe we should do the same and just KIM (Keep It Moving).
27 Aug 2026 14:47:34
Do we have enough squad spaces to go for Lamine Camara? Or do we need to move someone on?
27 Aug 2026 16:01:19
Or simply just register the players we want to use? I've seen so many comments like this and it's such a non-issue. Is it great man management to have players at the club that cannot be registered? No. But it is what it is.
27 Aug 2026 16:05:09
Barcola replaces Gakpo. We have one spot left as Araujo took Ramsay's spot.
27 Aug 2026 16:53:57
We have 18 non-homegrown players for UCL.
We can register 17.
27 Aug 2026 17:21:42
Ron, you counting Gakpo and Ekitike. Ekitike won't be fit to play this side of the new year, so he doesn't count. Gakpo could well be out the door, so potentially a straight swap for Barcola.
Endo and Chiesa could and should be replaced by Koumas and Nyoni, which could give us 2 more non-hg spots. Tsimikas could also be replaced if needed.
As Danish said, it's a non-issue.

Cheers, gents. Prod Liverpool supporter from 2004, one year reader here, first time poster. Thanks for all Eds, ITKs and the whole community for making this forum a wonderful place to stick to.
I have a question regarding two players we have been interested in brining in some time ago.
(1) Ordonez. Seen some rumours he is halfway to AV or CPFC. LA, 22yo, strong and fast, CB/RB. The 26 mon pounds cited seems to be too good to be true. Any chances of LFC hijacking him in the last minute?
(2) Semenyo. Two footed. Product of Iraola. Giving potential Ndiaye deal, can it be ideal RW option?
Any thoughts?
Many thanks

Why would City sell, probably their 2nd best player, who's only been at the club 6 months, to make way for a player who's nowhere near that standard. Not saying he's not any good, but no way Man City are paying 80mil, and they're certainly not going to sell to us to strengthen our team.

As a new user, you should know posts can take a while to appear, so no need to make duplicate posts.

Cheers, mrzorro. Welcome.
27 Aug 2026 15:47:13
Ndiaye is left wing & Semenyo plays right.
{Ed001's Note - Ndiaye plays both wings, as does Semenyo.}
27 Aug 2026 16:10:46
We're not buying either of those 2 for sure.
27 Aug 2026 16:50:14
If Citeh want Gakpo, swap him for Semenyo lol.
27 Aug 2026 18:47:40
Not a bad shout, Grinch. I'm a huge fan of Semenyo.
27 Aug 2026 14:03:11
So let's say we do now buy Camara but not a RW. Does anyone else think Szob might play on the right?
27 Aug 2026 15:14:44
Sincerely doubt it. They've been mainly looking at left-footed players. Think he might force his way in as our no.10 though if Wirtz underwhelms.
27 Aug 2026 15:19:28
Obviously he's a dynamic player with experience on the wings and can fill in pretty much any role, but no, I think Andoni likes to utilise players in their strongest position, and he sees Dom as an 8.
27 Aug 2026 15:43:33
I think Rio might disagree there, Chewy. :P
27 Aug 2026 13:59:50
Anyone know if Gordon or anyone else has stepped in to take over negotiations as Hughes wasn’t getting it done?
27 Aug 2026 15:21:06
Yes, he has.
Thanks, ToonRed.
27 Aug 2026 15:29:24
From what I've read/heard, some seem to think Hughes is operating in a limited capacity and has been all summer. Makes sense, considering Gordon came in at the end of last season and a couple of our signings seem very Iraola-esque.
If you mean in regard to Barcola specifically? I can't imagine so. Hughes is already operating under Gordon's thumb.
It seems PSG were negotiating for a larger upfront payment, but given the fact they have a laundry list of wingers, we knew they'd eventually fold and were happy to wait it out until we got our price. Glad we did, tbh. I thought the deal would be worth something in the region of £140m, given the market.
27 Aug 2026 13:51:55
Would love to get a midfielder over the line and a full back. But what are the outgoings looking like? Any takers for Chiesa or Endo? Also Elliott, do you think he stays or goes?
27 Aug 2026 14:05:06
I think they all need to go, although I doubt there will be takers for Endo and he's supposedly happy with his bit part role. Chiesa and Elliot, the latter especially, I really wanted to happen but I think it's time to face facts and let them go.
27 Aug 2026 13:47:21
I see Carragher is being petitioned to declare himself bankrupt over unpaid taxes.
I wonder if Neville will do a podcast with him about it?
27 Aug 2026 14:01:07
Carrageher is a wally and can't stand him.
27 Aug 2026 18:53:06
Ship, you're joking, right?
27 Aug 2026 13:46:01
It would be a great window if we got the Monaco midfielder and Wharton with Wirtz ahead of them. I'd play Dom on the right.
Great at pressing, great crosser and shooter.
27 Aug 2026 14:12:12
He is far from a great crosser. His corners are generally terrible.
27 Aug 2026 14:19:22
Dom is a great crosser. You've confused crossing and set pieces. 😕
Wharton is very good on set pieces.
27 Aug 2026 17:26:33
Lol, you Wharton is better than Szobo on set pieces. I think you need to give your head a wobble, mate.
27 Aug 2026 18:54:04
Mark, I propose you watch Dom again.
27 Aug 2026 13:43:18
Question for the masses.
If (stress if), we sign Barcola and then Lamine Camara.
Would people change their opinion on the window that Hughes has delivered?
I get we'd ideally like these signings more quickly but Jacquet, Munoz, Barcola, Araujo and Camara is a pretty good addition to the squad.
27 Aug 2026 13:50:02
Pretty happy with that, my main criticism would be that we have left it late, but better late than never, I suppose.
27 Aug 2026 13:51:26
Jacquet was already a done deal in January last year.
Good business, yes, but they were all easy deals to make with the exception of Barcola. I think AI has had a massive influence too (literally, Munoz and Aroaujo were his instruction), so I think it is more a case of Hughes being told to listen to AI rather than him being some sort of mastermind.
27 Aug 2026 13:56:38
I'd be pretty happy with the players that were brought in, but there would still be no excuse for not bringing in a specialist RW given that we have known for so long that Mo was leaving. I understand that the market is not great, and that Slot and Edwards going may have effected things, but it is absolutely ridiculous.
27 Aug 2026 14:03:13
Fully agree with Man of Todd, these are not the typical Hughes/Edwards type signings we've seen in the past. I think the board completely lost faith after pissing £450m up a wall last year and as a result we're going back to a much more manager-involved transfer policy.
27 Aug 2026 14:10:43
Personally, I don't have a strong opinion on Hughes.
Generally, I don't buy into the hysteria where people conclude we're not doing anything in the market based on no confirmation of a signing.
For those that do go that way, I can't see how anything positive changes their outlook to be honest.
27 Aug 2026 14:11:16
The ease of the deals is a bit irrelevant though, isn't it?
I totally get why he's had his criticism, but his CV could still show signing:
Isak
Wirtz
Jacquet
Araujo
Ekitike
Barcola
Camara (potentially)
Kerkez
Before he joined the club, and irrespective of the success of some of these signings, everyone would be saying yes f****g please, wouldn't they?
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, and there's still a good chance the likes of Kerkez, Isak and Wirtz can come good.
They were class the year we bought them.
Andoni needs patience to get us ticking once the window is done.
