Would be some signing if we go back in for Osimhen this summer and pull it off. Having him on the end of crosses from Gakpo and Salah would be an absolute cheat code. Two of the best crossers in Europe with in my opinion the absolute best striker in Europe at attacking crosses. Wow.
I'd be slightly concerned about the AFCON though. Losing Mané and Salah was always tough.

Gakpo and Salah two of the best crossers in Europe? Dno what you are watching MK. Gakpo cuts in nearly all the time and Mo occasionally does an outside the foot cross or two. Hardly both bombing down the wing putting balls into the box. If we played in that style I’m sure even Darwin might have got a few more goals. Osihmen is decent but if we are going to play two goalscoring wingers in Salah and Gakpo I’d argue we need a Cunha type player.

He is good in the air MK that's true.
My main worry with him is that the ball doesn't seem to stick to him. He never seems to get it under full control and it's all a bit erratic, something that frustrates me with Nunez. I would like a goalscorer that also has ability to make it the play a d bring the other talented players around him into the game also. I think osimhen can do the first part decently enough. Second part not so much. But I'll reserve judgement. If he is the one in the door, let's see how he goes.
His heading ability would be what excites me most. It could certainly open a relatively untapped goal avenue. So let's see.

Have to agree with Brummy here. Gakpo and Salah are direct wingers, in that they both look to cut inside and drive towards goal themselves. I don't think they are the best crossers although they do cross the ball occasionally.

I find it hilarious that Man Utd think Cunha is joining them, he can’t be that daft surely.

I think Osimhen and Isak are bother levels above Jota and Darwin.
If we get either or I personally think it strengthens us considerably. Both are goal machines and haven’t exactly been reliant on world class wingers to create the perfect cross for them throughout their careers.

On the end of Trent’s crosses maybe. Salah and Gakpo I don’t think so, they are not really known for crosses.

I agree with MK though, Salah and Gakpo crosses to the back post regularly. A lot of Gakpo’s goals were from Salah crossing.

Whether we get Osimhen, Unhappy or someone else let's just hope we get a player who can stay fit for the season and have confidence and composure in front of goal, that would be a huge success and improvement on Nunez and Jota and puts us up another level and imo making us an even better bet for No.21.
03 May 2025 14:33:29
Not really traditional wingers are they? Don't agree with the Cunha assessment tho, he's a 10 when I would prefer us to target a more traditional striker of which Osimhen fits the bill it seems.

Gakpo is Christian so he likes crosses, Salah is Muslim so he’s better with a crescent run and star one into the net.
03 May 2025 14:43:42
*Cunha (how did autocorrect get unhappy from that ? ????)
03 May 2025 15:06:02
Were not intrested in osimhen and isak out of our price range.

Cunha struts around the pitch like a 70 year old on a Sunday jaunt, and whilst he is great, how would that go down with the others?
Osimhen would improve upon Jota at least, but is he the best use of 64m?
03 May 2025 15:56:14
Disagree Brummy. Salah floats in some lovely crosses but Jota and Darwin are too static. Gakpo and Diaz have to attack most of them. Gakpo also puts some great crosses in but he has even less to aim at as he doesn’t always play with Diaz and Salah doesn’t attack crosses. Give them someone to aim at and they’ll rack up the assists in my opinion.

Honestly don’t see Osimhen signing. He hasn’t reduced his wage demands much from last summer. Saw an article today where Fabrizio Romano said he’s asking suitors for a net salary of £200k a week minimum. Which is around £380k a week before tax.
Given that we’ve just given Salah and Van Dijk bumper contracts I doubt we’d add another salary as big as that. He’d better start learning Arabic.

AFCON would be a kicker.
I reckon there's as many as 4 names they would choose before Viktor.

I would imagine Osimhen is very much in the conversation, Macca posted saying we are very interested in him already this season and reports have not dissipated at all in recent months. I’m not sure he would be my first choice but he is head and shoulders above Nunez and Jota and would defenitely improve our forward line. Wages are none of my concern, very straight forward, if Osimhens wage demands were that high then we wouldn’t have any interest, we don’t buy on high wages so if we are in for him then he obviously falls within our wage structure!

Romano is a fat influencer he hasn’t a clue. Why people keep paying his mortgage is beyond me.
