According to Romano Huijsen wanted Madrid and the deal is about done. We pulled out after player said his dream was Madrid.
Also mentioned both us and Chelsea want Hato so perhaps we will go for him now Huijsen is off.
Xavi Simons available this summer aswell as he wants to move on. Sesko wants to move on aswell.

Surely Hato would be the option for Left Back? (Hope so! )
15 May 2025 09:15:37
Crestfallen if true, he is an incredible player and the heir to Virgil. Maybe we will go for araujo now, he looks like the other outstanding choice for the role, but he will cost more.

Hato is more of a LB, and at CB plays in van Dijk's position. We need a right sided CB to play with van Dijk if konate is a gonner.

Knowing us we end up with neither.

Huijsen is arguably not worth signing if he's so obsessed with Real Madrid. They'll just tap him up and have him run down his contract for a free transfer in 2029!
There are other very good options I would consider for left sided CB such as Murillo, Calvin Bassey or Jorrel Hato. All of whom can also provide cover at LB, as versatility is something Slot allegedly values quite highly.
Huijsen is the best young left sided CB about right now, but he's not the only one who's worth considering.

Loving the positivity VV ?.

Depends if we dilly dally over Hato or not, if we want him pay the price, we knew Huijsen price and didn't agree the deal early enough, we need to stop trying to low ball teams and get the players we want i don't expect Wirtz one bit as we will try to low ball Leverkusen into selling and end up but a player the 3rd of the price.
15 May 2025 10:14:40
I would Huijsen but if he fancies madrid then we should go all in for Murillo.
Obviously Virg has signed a new contract he will be our left centre back for another 2 years at least, Ed is the plan to have a back up to Virgil? Because I doubt that is overly appealing to top players like Huijsen and Murillo.
{Ed001's Note - I believe the target is someone to play alongside Virgil.}
15 May 2025 10:17:41
You think we missed out on huijsen because of price? You are aware that he has a release clause and that's what any club has to pay, and that the player's choice is the determining factor here and not the price? There's no need to make stuff up to beat Hughes over the head with.

Did you mean to say …Being Liverpool, the Premier League Champions … @Vik?
15 May 2025 10:22:47
We never sign anyone decent Barry, you should know that by now.
We’ll never win anything with this hand to mouth system.
15 May 2025 11:25:09
Who wants a player with one eye on Real Madrid the entire time anyway.
15 May 2025 10:54:52
We've seen before when we won the league and we didn't strengthen the team after. Let's see if there has been any lessons learned. I doubt there has.

Unlike most posters on this site I am far from being an expert. So when these players are put forward for Liverpool I assume the posters have a vast knowledge of English and European talent. There is call for us to sign a right-sided centre back. My question is could VVD play as a right sided centre back?
15 May 2025 11:29:55
It is common knowledge that Huijsen’s preferred destination is Real Madrid. Not worth the time and effort, unless we want to become RM’s feeder club.
15 May 2025 12:58:42
Gaga, I chatted with Ed001 about the VVD/ RCB question a couple of weeks ago. Although he *could* play RCB and he is right footed, it makes more sense at his age not to mess about with his position. Also, with a new, likely young, LB joining hopefully, he VVD would be ideal to help them. I'd be a fan of Hato coming in as LB and then transitioning over time to LCB. Be interested to see who comes in if we lose Konate - either of the Aroaja's (Tomas or the chap at Barca! ) seem potentials.
15 May 2025 13:07:32
Really wanted Huijsen, but if he wants Real then good luck to him.
15 May 2025 14:01:42
I agree with MK if players are obsessed with Madrid/ Barca perhaps we should pass on those.
Should be the first interview question - did you support Barcelona ir Madrid growing up?
Yes.
"Well thanks for coming in we'll be in touch soon. "
15 May 2025 16:01:08
Thanks Zeddicus.
I didn't see that conversation, but just thought as he is right-footed. But then looking at your response makes a lot of sense.
15 May 2025 16:26:08
I wouldn't go that far Nevada. I'm not stressed about someone who wants to play for a particular team (for any reason) coming and giving us a few years, maybe with a clause for that team built in. For example, I think Macca probably does want to play for RM, and when he goes, as long as we get a fair fee and everything is professional, then I have a no problem.
There will be a sub-set of players whose dream team is us - if they hit the quality standard and stay with us for ever, great. But not everyone has to.
It would be right to avoid someone who uses rubbishousery with the club to force a move, though.
