Ed001 what's your thoughts on Konate, if he does not sign a new contract would you try to sell at discount price or keep him as we have already maybe 2 new starters in defence and 3 is a big change. Also how much do you rate Konate I think when fully fit and firing think he is very good but when he comes back from injury lay off seems to take him 5/ 6 games to get back and a lot of mistakes come into his game.
{Ed001's Note - I would be looking to replace him anyway. Far too many poor games and weak moment in good performances too. Add that to the regular injuries and you have a weak link in the side imo. He is someone we should be looking to upgrade.}

Completely agree with ed001 here. Never rated him, Bambi on ice, rash, modern day Sakho.
But still better than Marc Guehi.

Agree that we can upgrade Konate, but Guehi isn’t that man.
Konate can at least win a header and bully an opponent.

Reported today that Palace lining up Diomande as the replacement for Geuhi,
We already had previous interest in him i thought ED001?
Like you i'd have thought Diomande would be a better option than Geuhi.

I hope Guehi doesn't read this forum, because it doesn't sound like many people want him. Would this be the case if he played for, shall we say, Benfica? We have a tendency to poo poo any potential English signing.

I'm not having that ed, on his day I think konate is unquestionably a top 5 center half in this league, I'd say he is as good as Gabriel and a tier down from Virgil and saliba (who had a worse season than Ibou I think, having set such higher standards) .
{Ed001's Note - on his day, yes, but his day is rare. He spends most days dragging players down and misdirecting headers. His positional sense is only as good as Virgil's directions, which is why he is hopeless without him there. Take Virgil away and Konate is a very average player who is overly reliant on his physical traits. He is better on the ball than he is usually given credit for though.}

So Ed, the interest in Guehi is real? I thought that is only paper talk or clickbait. I don't think he is an improvement over Konate if that is the reason why we are going after him.

I agree with you, VV. We can always upgrade on Konate esp. with some of the players Ed01 just mentioned BUT Guehi ain't one of them cos those players are better than him, let alone Konate.
