It was a narrow escape but I do feel for him. When he is fit he is a great player but if they haven't already, these injuries are likely to have a long term impact. He is sadly likely to be another one to join the list of players who never reached their true potential for one reason or another.
Timo Werner is another. Don't think it got as far as a bid but it might have if not for Covid.

Lavia is a fantastic player when I saw him play at S'hampton vs Chelsea and away at Arsenal. The kid was outstanding and vs us at Anfield last season, we couldn't get near him either, IMO.
The only reason I am glad we did not sign him is cos he is severely injury-prone, something I did not know prior to our interest in him.

On the flip side, the two that inexplicably slipped away when they were ready and willing to sign were Anelka and one of my all time favourite players, Michael Laudrup. There was word that a young Ronaldo wanted to join Liverpool before going to United, not sure how true that is, but if it is, it must count as the biggest miss of all time.

Wasn’t there a rumour that Klopp had earmarked Anthony as a Salah replacement if he’d left a few years ago? I can’t remember if that was a true or if it’s just a recurring nightmare I have.

I think Mendy is a good shout. Just glad that we dodged that bullet and got Robbo in instead. I remember so many of usxincouding myself, feeling underwhelmed when City got Mendy and we got Robbo but that was the one of the best transfers we did during the Klopp era.

PB actually, we did put a bid in for Phil Jones and Jordan Henderson in the same window. Same did Utd. Jones picked Utd and Hendo picked LFC. Good deal if you can get it, lol.
