A question for Ed001 if you have the time.
I saw something from David Lynch tonight where he was critical of the recruitment done in the summer, saying it has made us worse.
I'd be interested in your take on that.
Is it poor recruitment?, or is it a coach not getting the best from the players at his disposal? . Or a bit of both?
{Ed001's Note - bit of both, Slot is defo not getting the most from them but the recruitment failed to get players to suit the style he was looking to play.}

Wirtz has came a season early because of the system and players already here. Wirtz has to play behind isak and etitke or maybe with a seymano.
Kerkez looks the worst buy. It's all well and good the excuses for him but we needed a lb for 2 years and expected a top class one to replace robertson who's been worldclass at his peak.
We signed a 22 year old who had a good season at Bournemouth. He's energetic. We shouldn't be expected to wait for him to come good. When's that? Because he looks like an u18 who's playing because of an injury crisis.

ED01 who would you say we should have got to suit the way Slot wants to play? thanks.
{Ed001's Note - should have gone for Hincapie or similar instead of Kerkez and an actual right back.}

Thanks Ed.

A top class Centre Back was the number one most urgent priority:
To replace an ageing VVD?
To replace a player who does not even want to play for LFC?
Had a top class CB been signed "FIRST" he then could have rotted in the U21s, to constantly pick him means Slot cannot see he has been thrown under the bus by the player and his agent, and us LFC supporters also, if you are not prepared to sign for LFC you should not be selected regularly to play for LFC.
To rely on palace till the last minute of the deadline, when that should have been from the first minute of the summer shutdown, would of meant we had a decision either way earlier in the transfer window and then could have pursued another top class CB with valuable time still available.
This PL will be topsy turvy this season the Sunderland result yesterday provided yet further evidence, their is still circa 70% of the PL season still to play for, if we had an Ancelotti, Zidane, Jurgen all available then I would certainly fancy our chances, as we still have a transfer window in this season but the signings have to be on day ONE not the last day of the next window.
Bodger Slotgers was sacked in early October 2015 that seasons results for him was only two defeats, six draws, three wins, we were 10th in the PL when Slotgers went, what's worse Henry two defeats or
Five defeats from 11 PL games played and the cause of SOME of our problems a plus one goal difference.
YNWA 97 and 20.
{Ed025's Note - i got slaughtered on here Bond when i suggested that Gueih would have been a better signing than Isak at the time, sometimes chickens come home to roost i suppose mate..

Whether it’s recruitment, tactics, motivation, ageing or all of the above, the defence has been absolutely atrocious.
You can’t be so easy to score against and expect to win many games.
We can’t stop crosses, we can’t defend the centre of the field - it’s just easy for teams to score.
09 Nov 2025 21:35:39
Not overly fussed the players don't suit slots style of play or tactics they're dreadful. Slow, tedious and ponderous. can't wait to see the players play in a system that suits them to be honest.

The centre back position is a major fail. In the time we’ve been looking for one Arsenal have signed a few, City have signed at least one, and the likes of Palace even seem to have been able to buy or develop players who are consistently better than ours defensively even if they’re not viewed as world beaters.
It has to be said though what all of those teams have is a specialist defensive midfielder. That’s the other major oversight in our set up. It’s now three summer windows during which we’ve failed to identify and secure a mobile defensive midfielder, Endo is the closest we got and he was a panic buy who can’t run.
Mo, VVD and Ali brilliance, sprinkled with occasional excellence from the likes of Grav and Szob got us through last season, before that we also had excellence with Fabinho, Robbo, Mane and even Firmino with moments of class passing from Trent.
We’ve fallen quite a long way from there, arguably only Isak of all of our recent buys is at that type of level and he’s been injured or unfit. Wirtz has that type of talent, but no physicality so the jury is out.
Jurgen understood the premier league better than our directors do, Arne hasn’t shown yet that he fully gets it.
09 Nov 2025 22:14:52
Probably going to get abused but Pedro porro was probably the closest to Trent that was out there imo and agree hincapié would have been so much better suited than Kerkez. Virg needs a solid defender outside him with him aging.
He can still dominate the box but he doesn’t have the same agility against wingers anymore. Also would have been less abhorrent defending set pieces with another 6ft plus player in the team.

It’s just crying out for the diamond but it’ll never happen we’re just too boring to try it.
09 Nov 2025 22:42:37
We have lost more games in the league than Everton this season. Maybe Ed25 is right, Everton is the best team in Merseyside right now.
09 Nov 2025 23:04:43
The thing is guys that the club has shown great ambition in going all in on the players we have and it’s what most Liverpool fans are crying out for every season.
Then when it doesn’t come off immediately everyone wants to criticise.
We just need to be patient we are building a squad that we hope will dominate for years to come.
I 100% disagree that Guehi was more important than Isak that’s just very short sighted thinking. There are many better CB out there than Guehi but there’s not many better strikers than Isak and if we are building a squad we want the very best players we can get. If Isak was attainable we had to get him. We can get Guehi later or if not him then someone else.
It’s frustrating I know but we need to think of the long game. We are part way through this rebuild and the club are showing they have the ambition to go out and get the best players available. Stick with it, good times are coming.

I have not been and never been a fan of Slot.
My take, my opinion. I am not anti the bloke but he is not my style.
His total disregard for Chiesa makes my blood boil. What on earth has he got against the lad?
I am now more anti Slot than I have ever been. I just don't like the cut of his jib. It is a personal thing. I don't like the bloke.
This is not the best way to judge things with my personal prejudice, but, that is how I see things.
I am sure there are many more friendly folk on here who want to give him more time.
I don't want this because I profoundly believe he is not up to the job.
My opinion, my take.
I want someone different.
I don't blame anyone taking the opposite view but whilst this is still a free country, just?
I will air my opinion. I don't expect people to agree. He is out of his depth.
Things will only get worse and it is not down to the players.
Sorry chaps, this is what I believe.
10 Nov 2025 00:08:23
25 - we did try to get Guehi.
{Ed025's Note - i know you did Faith, but some were saying Isak was the most important one to get over the line...and i disagreed mate..
10 Nov 2025 00:34:56
I bet we win our next 4 PL games.
10 Nov 2025 01:22:53
ED01 thanks and i agree with the players you mentioned. I like Kerkez, but he hasn't been played like he played for Bournmouth last season. i've said and wonder if Kerkez was a Slot signing.
Hincapie or maybe Guhie would be more sense. Frimpong the same, a very good player, but we don't play wing backs. Im sure things can be fixed but it needs to happen fast. YNWA.
10 Nov 2025 03:00:07
LFC8 I agree. It's Wirtz' best position. Why sign him if we're not going to play him there?
Robbo, at this point Isak hasn't brought us anything but Konate has cost us time and time again. So I would argue Geuhi or similar was more important. Isak will come good but right now we're so porous and it needs to be addressed in Jan.
10 Nov 2025 07:01:06
Regardless of Guehi looking more important. Isak and Ekitike were needed to supplement Nunez and the sad passing of Diogo. Slot ain’t got a clue how to play them.
10 Nov 2025 10:07:43
Does Guehi stop Haaland heading that first goal? No. Does he stop Doku from scoring from that far out? No (Doku had a free pass from our midfield and any defender would try and show him inside as the probability of him shooting and actually getting a shot on target is fairly low given how hit and miss he is, the point is we were non existent in the middle so they could just keep having a go at our defence), does he stop Van Dijk deflecting a shot past our keeper? No.
The issues start in midfield. We’re too weak, too soft and easy to play through. The difference was stark. When we had the ball, they were compact and organised and shut down almost everything. When they had the ball we were a disorganised rabble with huge gaping holes in midfield.

Exactly, VV. I agree. And please, let's stop with the Guehi hype cos he along would fix our problems happening in midfield. We went for him. It didn't happen. Move on.

Vik Konate should have headed the first goal clear. Meat and potatoes header. Higuita would have scorpion kicked that one out.
