Hello all,

Not a rumour but a chance to hear your views.

Is Slot man you want to lead us going forward?

What can we do better?

Who could we sign?

Would love to hear what your thoughts are.

Ta.

Carra mate for me this should be out to a poll, I’d love to see the split.

For me though, I’m grateful he won us the league last season. But how we are playing with the money spent and quality we have is unforgivable.

He can’t see the issues and that’s a worry. If he thinks this is a free pass season then he’s in the wrong job.

He doesn’t have the mentality to be a multiple winner, he’s won the big one and just sat back and tried to implement this utter dross he calls football upon us, he’s to stubborn to admit he’s wrong.

I can’t waste my time listing what he should do better, he’s had a chance he’s blew it get rid and get someone else in.

Who would I sign to replace him, Alonso. Rialo if he wouldn’t come, flick if nether were achievable. There is better than slot that actually have a will to be a multi time winner.

01 Jan 2026 20:48:14
HNY Carra, thanks for all your info.

This is probably too simple, but I would replace Slot with Alonso.

He’s apparently gaining the ire of a lot of the RM squad as he is working them too hard.

We look lethargic.

Makes sense, no?

01 Jan 2026 20:48:25
Hi Carra,

Slot is not the man.

Alonso for me.

2 centre backs and a holding midfielder should have been signed in summer.

Rio should be playing more football than slot is giving him.

01 Jan 2026 20:49:36
No he isn’t I have wanted him sacked ages ago he is clueless and we play boring football we are a joke and won’t win anything again under him not sure what FSG are waiting or watching it is like watching paint dry.

01 Jan 2026 20:50:26
1. No
2. Pretty much everything
3. Guehi etc may improve but not changing this football so won't matter.

01 Jan 2026 20:58:09
No, he's not.

I'd like to see us playing with more risk. These are (mostly) young players with bags of attacking talent who want to play, but they're being limited.

Slot's "philosophy" that we should conserve energy until the last 1/ 3 of the season is arrogance and assumes the points are already on the board.

01 Jan 2026 20:59:26
No I don't think so. It's really poor ponderous play with no spark or guile at all. Everything is slow and predictable. I really hope a change is made in the second half of the season.

01 Jan 2026 20:59:41
Hi Carra,

No, I don’t believe he has the right mindset but like Amorin at Utd, stubborn, the negative and lacklustre performances does affect the crowd which intuitively dampens the atmosphere

Just up the tempo, play with some passion and show some pride, we look dead on our feet

Decent ball winning midfielder, Anderson would be ideal and hopefully a CB.

01 Jan 2026 21:01:31
I have started to turn over after an hour. I have never done that before.

The football is so slow and boring.

Sign 2 CB's yes, but the squad is good enough. Not sure changing the nanager is the right answer, who should we get. Alonso, would he come.

Can we carry on for another 4 months like this.

I suppose not. But don't know what the answer.

01 Jan 2026 21:02:26
No, he is utterly bereft of any ideas other than playing players out of position, passing backwards and relying on the same players that take every single opportunity to prove that they are crap (Mac, Gakpo in particular) .

What can we do better? Get aggressive. Everyone keeps saying we're failing to get on second balls. wrong. We are not even TRYING to get them. There is obviously a fine line here, but we we're so far from that line we can't see it. Run. We can run. I was at the MU game in Oct. Some poor old man next to me shouted himself hoarse while only ever yelling one word the whole game "RUN". We don't run in attack, we walk.

Signings, I don't care. Given Slot's tactics I don't think much of anything will help in midfield or attack. Any CB would be an improvement over Konate. So again, don't care, but a CB or two.

01 Jan 2026 21:04:17
Lost all faith in Slot some time ago. Way too stubborn and shows no indication that he can adapt. When he changes stuff and it actually works - like the AV and RM games or the couple of games with the diamond - he then reverts back to the most horrendous football like he believes it’s a confidence thing that’s so sole issue, and not his horrible tactics.

I’m a firm believer in that we lack identity and direction. Going forward this is the most important thing to change and hopefully get right. I can live without trophies every season as long as I see potential and improvement in my club. Never asked for Klopps head despite seasons where we underperformed because I could see where we are trying to go and the clear identity of the team. Haven’t had any indication of what Slot is trying to do bar boring me to death for months and months.

Don’t even see the point in talking about signings as it won’t matter when Slot is at the helm IMO. Clearly we lack players in some positions but as many would agree the team especially lack a midfielder with some real bite. But what’s the point when even if we had one, Slot wouldn’t play him. Personally I do not care who we buy or don’t buy at this point. We need new management and perhaps even new leadership higher up the ranks.

And thanks for your great contributions on here Carra mate. It’s much appreciated.

01 Jan 2026 21:04:25
We lack aggression. We must be the nicest team in the league to play against. Diaz and jota were not only great players but out and out attack dogs with aggressive pressing. Although Darwin lacked quality he had it too. Jurgen’s greatest teams had quality and physicality, current team is lacking the latter.

01 Jan 2026 21:04:32
Nice try Mr Hughes.

01 Jan 2026 21:05:22
I think there’s a combination of issues Carra. We’re top 4 contenders but no more than that unfortunately even though the league is as average as we are.

Part of this is Arne and the tactics, we’re too risk averse and slow in the transition, so I’m not sure he’s the right man to take us forward no. It feels like he’s gone backwards this season, never mind the team.

I think we also lack quality and consistency in key areas on the pitch. Look at our left side for example, the drop off from Mane to Diaz to Gakpo is fairly dramatic. So we definitely need a higher quality left sided attacker. Gakpo is a good squad player. I don’t watch enough Euro football to know who that would be, there’s no one in the prem who catches the eye.

Right side is also a concern. Connor is young but inconsistent and injury prone. We need a solid right back to compete with him, and maybe replace him tbh. Frimpong I’ll reserve judgement on, he’s shown flashes. He’s not likely to replace Mo but there’s not many who would.

Centre back is an area that needs strengthening. Konate has improved a bit lately, but I’d still look to replace him. Hopefully that happens tomorrow if the rumours are true on Ordonez.

Centre mid we’re not dominant enough. Curtis like Connor is inconsistent. He has good games, but probably more average games than we need at this level and Macallister looks shot. We need a mobile, aggressive centre mid who’ll drive us but also allow Wirtz to play at 10.

That would also allow Szob and Grav to rotate and also give us a rotation option at 10 between Szob and Wirtz.

I think we also need a backup keeper. I don’t see the recent signing being an Ali replacement, and Ali himself looks on the wane.

Last season was probably flattering, and masked a whole load of issues. Jurgen was always going to be a massive act to follow, but so were Ali, Mo, Mane, Robbo, Trent etc.

01 Jan 2026 21:07:58
I’ve tried to refrain from posting recently. Hearing lots about how slow and negative the play is under Slot and how it should be. Not many of us complained last year. While of course I prefer the front foot attack attack style of play, if we’re winning I couldn’t give a monkeys.

But I’m slowly losing faith with this in trying to win games or even create anything. Wirtz off on 65? Both supposed right full backs off to again put Szoboszlai there? Don’t get it. No shape. No nothing. No one and all that but something. Please.

01 Jan 2026 21:08:56
2 Penneth:

1) He has something. He’s won the title in 2 different countries. I understand he has a different style to Klopp but then “who doesn’t”. I can’t think of any manager in world football who I have total confidence in to do better. Given Slot is the man in the chair, I have to hope he’s the man.

2) The team needs more cohesion. We look a lot like we did before Slot. Defenders and keeper who don’t know what to do with the ball. A lack of movement. We’re in that phase where we lost Klopp, Salah and Virgil are on the wane. The disruption to pre-season really hurt the squad. I believe the team just needs a lot more time and games. It’ll get there, but it will be next season.

3) Signings need to be minimised. Too much squad turnover disrupts the harmony and cohesion.

Basically we all need to be patient with Slot. He hasn’t had long enough to fail.

01 Jan 2026 21:22:19
Carra

I’m no tactical genius and a huge majority of posters on here know a load more than me about that side of the game but I’m seeing a massive drop in our intensity compared to a major part of last season - and there was a consistent decline in that facet of our game throughout last season!

I’m looking at Arsenal second half against Villa and although Villa weren’t totally at the races, Arsenal second half blew them away with a passion and urgency we used to have in spades?!

We bought well imo the last transfer window and these players are not being allowed off the leash - they don’t have to play 100 miles an hour for 90 mins but there seems to be no controlled aggression at any point in the games ( bar madrid, Villa at home and possibly first half against Everton )

I seen a post previously by someone who said is how we’re playing now Slots actual
Endgame? I hope there is a plan but an awful lot of people on here aren’t seeing it?
There are flashes of brilliance that show me we’ve huge potential in this side but Im wondering if Slot has the charisma with these fine players to unearth that potential - I’ve supported him throughout and at the same time doubted him but he’s not giving me much encouragement to keep my support up .

I hear so many rumours on here about a change in management come what may in the summer but the cupboard of potential “Liverpool” managers is pretty bare so is keeping with this current regime enough to get us back close to Arsenal and City and challenge for the title next season - I don’t think so .

Fresh faces in this window- at least one CB - we might get? an energetic quality midfielder- we might get? and a Semenyo quality forward would of given / give the team a real fresh impetus .

It’s just my opinion and no doubt others will be all over this!

Cheers mate.

{Ed078's Note - solid post, no reason for people to be all over it.

01 Jan 2026 21:10:12
Not for me Carra, The football is awful, we offer nothing going forwards, we are lost for ideas, we are easy to run through, easy to bully, we play without conviction or passion. Players looked lost, why do we have Writz playing on the left? He plays a couple of games in the middle and does well, then to accommodate others we put him in a least impactful position. We are lost and the football under Slot is awful, it reminds me of Brendan’s last few months. I think the bigger problem is Hughes and Edward’s. Any other people in those positions would have removed Slot by now, they have left us with an unbalanced squad, a head coach who has lost his mojo and a fan base that has lost its Anfield voice.

That for me is unacceptable. Problem is who do we turn to? Not many obvious options out there. I would like to see a top class manager come in and one who is proven, I would bring Stevie G in as part of the back room staff to try and motivate those in the changing room. He knows the club, owners and more importantly the fans and what it takes to get a performance out of the squad. It’s a mess mate, but I can’t help think that it was of our own making.

01 Jan 2026 21:12:45
Hi Carra
No he’s not the person to bring us forward.
Months of watching this crap and he hasn’t changed anything for the better. It’s worse we’re getting.
Wish the owners would review the roles of Hughes, Edward’s and Slot and his coaching staff. Maybe all need to go.
Were in dire need of 2 CB’s and a proper defensive midfielder.

01 Jan 2026 21:13:31
I like him as a bloke. I thought he did great last season and dealt with things well, the Diogo thing was tough but again handled well.

But. I can't watch much more of his football, there is things that are just strange at times.

I don't see any improvement in the last 10 games apart from a little more tight at the back, however it's still not great.

Who could replace him. I'll be honest I've no idea. Jurgen?

Appreciate you though Carra!

01 Jan 2026 21:14:29
Carra it can’t carry on. The stadium was so quite the fans know it’s dull and boring so for the love of Liverpool please can there be a change.

01 Jan 2026 21:16:17
Not at this moment Carra. The chance creation is a worry. But I'd personally give him time yet while doing due diligence in the background.

I think it's clear the team are not performing well. Chance creation and energy level up top in particular but all over the pitch too low. Running off the ball is pedestrian and predictable. I think there's some changes for the better with full backs getting up today but despite getting numbers up top, they can't be cones when they get there like they were today.

I would like a change.

But at the same time, I'm also hoping he gets this working and firing. But he is still a long way off.

I think the whole thing is more tactical than transfer related.

01 Jan 2026 21:17:18
I disagree Ron - nine losses in a row for me was more than enough to see this was not working yet he had refused to change.

01 Jan 2026 21:18:00
No slot is definitely not the guy to take us forward if anything he’s taken us backwards, we have no identity, no pace there’s no press too many players getting the ball and going sideways or backwards, attacking the kop in 2nd half of our last three games as been absolutely horrendous it’s like I’m watching United of last season, going forward I would like Alonso as manager Guehi and another cbk I would replace macca with Wharton/ anderson then bring in Diomande down the right and Gordon or Barcola or even give Rio a run in the team as he looked to add energy… but most importantly get slot out because he is ruining our club….

01 Jan 2026 21:20:23
The biggest thing for me is that under Klopp he really did know how to lighten the embers of the fanbase and make the fans the 12th man. He made fans/ colleagues feel included in the journey. That approach is the heart, soul snd identity of the club. I hope I am wrong but from the outside looking in, I just don't see that with Slot. Slot is clearly a very well spoken and intelligent man, but I also feel that there is a level of ego or arrogance which gets in the way of progress. I just do not see much humility.
I have seen too much player slating to the press from Slot. How would that feel to the player that their boss openly tried to rip you apart in front of the cameras and to the world? It's not like the player tried to make an error.

So to conclude, I don't think he is the right person to take us forward. Currently I can't think of any other suitable (or currently attainable) candidates. Areola and Alonso are the those in that category currently but have doubts on them also. Maybe I am unfairly trying to get the next Klopp which is impossible.

Sorry for the essay. Just my thoughts at this time.

01 Jan 2026 21:21:22
No. Personally, I think his skill set is limited. I think thatmuch is fairly evident.

6 months of complaining about a low block but no effort made to change his tactical approach, all the while claiming the only way to beat a low block is a moment of magic. If it's so impossible to beat a low block why are Leeds battling relegation, how can other teams score against them? Slot would tell you Leeds only play a low block against us

A squad brimming with talent, and somehow he can't manage to get the best out of a single one of them.

The coaching is evidently way below par, not just for free kicks. We leave the middle of the park wide open, opponents walk through, the defence looks panicked and unorganized every time they get the ball, which is crazy cause they spend more time with it than anyone else, our off the ball movement is abysmal, especially later in the game when Slot's schoolboy tactics of overloading the the final third comes into play, it's like watching a bunch of U7's at times, and we still don't look fully fit in those last 10-20 mins. Elite athletes with below par fitness levels 6 month in is insane.

What can we do better? Literally everything, so not even going to bother starting with that list. Wirtz needs to play centrally, he's not a wide player. He always looks out of sorts playing from the wing. We need 2 proper pacey, skillfull inverted wingers who can really wreak havock on defenders cutting inside and allow Frimpong and Kerkez to bomb forward. Frimpong and Bradle want to do the same thing so whilst Frimpong is great at going forward were limiting ourselves by playing 2 like minded players in front of eachother. Kerkez and Gakpo can't play together, Gakpo hasn't got the situational awareness. And why is he on corners? He's 6ft 4, and he's rubbish at them. We need a complete midfielder, somebody with excellent defensive and motivational skills, Dom's great but I don't see him lighting a fire under anyone. A Roy Keane type would have that whole team playing completely differently, pity there's none out there (that I know of anyway) . Not going to bother mentioning the CB issues as it's been talked to death.

01 Jan 2026 21:21:33
Hi carra,

Slot is finished at the club he’s had enough time to change things but has lost the dressing room

I want us to play like Sunderland are tonight passion intensity belief and confidence

A central defender is a must.

01 Jan 2026 21:25:28
Slot has unfortunately proven he is not the right man for us. It is alarming how he has changed in almost every way that made him and the team successful last year, and instead of learning from the results, he keeps going back to his preferred system that doesn't work. Everything is different this year and it's all down to him, the tactics, the non existent man management, can't change a game after halftime, the subs, player fitness, even his pressers and night and day difference this year.

People wanted to give him time, and for me, he's used that time to confirm he's not the right man. This is no longer a knee jerk reaction that can be compared to Chelsea: this is now Slot proving that his system isn't suited to the team or the league and that he is unwilling to change to rise to the challenge.

01 Jan 2026 21:25:37
No slot is not the manager I want in charge. To say you have total confidence in him Ron is mind blowing to me. Has this season not proven that he’s stubborn and can’t see the obvious problems with the team.

01 Jan 2026 21:26:26
Ron and wdw must be some kind of spin doctors for the club.

01 Jan 2026 21:27:58
Hey Carra,

I say this with the greatest of respect but, slots not our man. Even if he somehow turns the ship and manages to get us European glory this year! Some clubs may appreciate cup over style but in my most humble opinion, Styles make match ups and unfortunately a pragmatic approach doesn't get our most valuable asset utilised - our fan base. Klopp understood this, his players understood the requiremts when they heard a constant 20min roar when players were thumping into tackles and getting up the Pitch in a way that only working class people recognise. Hard work over talent everyday! That is the Liverpool way

I was useless at football and I don't dare to think I know enough about tactics! But I was pretty good at a lot of other team sports in my youth. The fundamentals of every team sport require the basics! Play with width, pass ahead of your man (running onto the ball) with some pace. We have all the technique in the world, just bugger all pace and precision in passing. Without the ball? Fight for every inch, never get bullied off your opponent and out work your opposite number.

I'm not sure who what managers have the charisma to get the required aforementioned outcomes. Alonso seems to be the fan favourite but I'll sit on the fence as nobody gets me pumped like Klopp used to.

As for players! I think most will agree some bloody bite in the midfield. I like Grav but I just don't think he's our man. I say that reluctantly, and happy to eat humble pie further down the line. I just don't think he's creative or technical enough to take the Mac role, and not physical enough to play the current role. A luxury player for me. Mac needs to go also.

As for wingers, somebody that can beat a man over 5 yards, like mane did! Someone that can take the game by the scruff of the neck and get us up field. The most obvious thing I've noticed is the lack of RB-RW/ LB-LW partnerships we have now. They don't play to each others strength (due to tactics) and almost get in each others way.

All in all, I'm just pissed off that teams comes to anfield think they have a chance now where Klopps first goal was "make this place a fortress again". a bad place to come.

Things have to change.

01 Jan 2026 21:30:29
The most bored I’ve ever been at Anfield and I’ve seen a Hodgson side.
I’d like to see Wharton and Gravenberch as our two central midfielders and I’d like Gakpoo put in a space ship and launched into orbit
I’d like to see a winger who can dribble and cross replace him, I’m bored to tears watching Ibou and VVD pass to each other like the chuckle brothers
As I was leaving the ground my wife WhatsApp’d me “dull as ditchwater” I think that sums it up perfectly.

01 Jan 2026 21:31:44
Last season I’m convinced Slot wanted to assess things and thus was a continuation of Klopp’s style. It felt like we went after teams and got our just rewards. However what Slot tweaked cleverly was taking the foot off the gas at the right times, seeing games out and controlling games when we were out of sight.

This season and to an extent the backend of last season a complete 180 in tactics. Terrified of losing the ball, relinquishing attacks to maintain possession and very lethargic. For me it’s criminal with a squad this good and the attacking outlet we have we’re playing so badly.

I said this recently but if we played to the strengths of Salah he’d be scoring goals and assisting. We take so long to build up play that by the time it gets to him it’s in effective. I will die on the hill of saying that Salah does not turn MVP to bad player over night. The same can be said of Kerkez, VVD, Konate, Mac, Isak and Wirtz… the common denominator is Slot who looks absolutely clueless and devoid of solutions.

Slot has to go and at this rate I’d take Gerrard as an interim.

01 Jan 2026 21:33:08
He’d of been sacked months ago if he was going anywhere.

01 Jan 2026 21:38:32
I agree with Ron, Slot hasn't failed as yet.
Having returned from Anfield, and watching the game I feel we have turned into a frightened team. We look set up to avoid defeat, I know the manager is under scrutiny, potentially fighting for his job, but it just appears that it is 'avoid defeat and try and nick a win'.
No player is taking a game like that by the scruff of the neck, willing to take a risk.
I know this contradicts a little with regards to Slot, but his substitutions don't make a lot of sense from a view of trying to win a game, tonight it appeared more protecting the players for the next match.
I have a been a season ticket holder for 40 years and while this isn't anywhere near the best football or the best team iv seen, its certainly not the worst.

I would like to see some confidence, and some cohesion come back to the team, we have some top quality players, we have some very good players who are not playing at the level expected of them and others being stifled due to the position they are being asked to play or under instruction to not take risks.
Let's hope we add a top quality centre half, a top quality holding midfielder and that slot gets it right .
We are after all still in top 4, champions league and FA Cup, not all doom and gloom, plus we do not have a divine right to win everything!
On a final note, the fans are very quiet and only appear up for ir against certain teams, and that's not just down to the football being played! We need to do our bit to get behind the lads and see them through the bad patch!

01 Jan 2026 21:56:36
Unless you’re Richard Hughes in disguise Carra, and doing some due diligence on the fan sentiment, I think we’ve got to assume Arne will be with us until the end of the season at least.

You mentioned Arne had been told his position is under review but it doesn’t look like he’s adapting much, we have tightened up defensively though.

It may well be he thinks if we play expansively we’ll get picked apart like we did earlier in the season, and we haven’t got the personnel.

This is where I slightly sympathise, or at least am doubtful about who would be best to replace him if he left. If Hughes and Edward’s are picking the signings they’re effectively picking the team because our squad isn’t as strong as some think it is.

Like at Chelsea where does that leave the coach. This is partly why Jurgen left, he had a power struggle with Edwards allegedly, he won but then got burnt out as you can’t continually compete with the likes of City if you have less net spend and salary budgets than they do. It’s a tricky situation, we all want better but if the back room aren’t in sync in terms of direction and tactical vision it leaves the whole club in limbo in terms of winning trophies.

01 Jan 2026 22:03:45
Longthing - “total confidence”? Read it again mate.

Whatsup - wind your neck in, Carra asked for opinions so suck it up.

Too many people on here want Slot sacked but have no idea who should take over except Klopp who is NOT coming. Even if he was it would be short term.

01 Jan 2026 22:11:30
Hi Carra, HNY.

Slot is not the man to take us forward in my opinion, no. We have got gradually worse over the past year and the team don’t look like a cohesive unit - or anywhere near fit enough.

We need to play with more intensity and move the ball far quicker.

I don’t think the squad is far off if coached better, but i would love us to add at least 1 CB, a RB, an aggressive forward with high work rate and a midfielder with legs and bite.

01 Jan 2026 22:12:56
Sorry he needs to go, where is the improvement week on week?
The tactics are slow and boring too and in my opinion we have players used to playing with freedom being told where to stand like subbuteo players, it clearly does not work for this squad.
It feels like the end of Rodgers tenure to me, blindly sticking with the same stuff that clearly needs a huge refresh,
I get why some would say he won us the league etc I really do but we're a big club who should have been cementing a period of dominance after winning the league and we've gone hugely backwards, nobody can say we're in transition either, most pundits before the season had us down as huge favourites to walk it.

As for players I'd get Guehi before anyone else as we need at least one cb and quick and apart from that I wouldn't bother till we see how somebody else gets us playing, personally I think bar for cbs and one good winger/ striker we're ok.
As for who, my opinion is anyone with attacking intentions would be an improvement on this right now,
Someone said earlier its not the worst they've seen since way back when, well im 52 and have been watching since the 70s and right now it feels as bad as Souness and Roy and about the same as the last days of the ego has landed Rodgers.
He needs to go for me sorry boys.

{Ed025's Note - its hard to argue with that Rum Lad..

01 Jan 2026 22:21:23
Slot needs to go. We’re dire and showing no signs of real improvement. What’s he done to the press? I’d like Alonso.

Semenyo would have been a great addition. We need some more power and speed in the team.

Ultimately nothing will change with Slot at the helm.

01 Jan 2026 22:31:03
Ron, plenty of people have given opinions on who should replace Slot, you claiming otherwise means you should take up that spec savers appointment that’s long over due.

01 Jan 2026 22:37:25
I don’t see any signs that he can turn it around.

Hughes has to take his share of the blame too as the squad is imbalanced.

I’ve no idea what the immediate solution is coach-wise but we desperately need some steel and verticality in the squad.

In terms of players, the non-HG numbers don’t make things easy to spend our way out of this.

Sadly, I think we’ll have to suffer this until the summer with perhaps Ordonez coming in and adding a bit more depth at CB and then review the coaching positions in the summer.

Perhaps a wild scenario would be Klopp and Milly coming in as interim to spark us back to life until the end of the season. But as we know, Edwards is unlikely to entertain that.

01 Jan 2026 23:04:26
IMHO. he should have been sacked weeks ago . we play so poorly every game . we get away with it because we've got better players . people saying there isn't any managers out there . of course there is, we just have to see who is the best available for our squad, Slot is definitely staying till the end of the year, I know he won the league last season but this season is chalk n cheese .

if you lose 9 out of 12 while playing this horrible boring football n you still got a job, then u can bank on it he's staying . hopefully Alonso or someone will be in charge next season.

01 Jan 2026 23:13:55
Thanks for all the info Carra.

There are some major concerns about how Liverpool are performing, not just today but this season (and the later part of last season) . There is as always a lot of info from the data that we never see that the staff have intel of. The intensity and physiological/ biological measures that they got should have set of the alarms if the players are not fit enough, as it seems to be. The lack of intensity and energy in attacking and defending transitions, seems to be a problem, but have improved. Still it looks very slow. There is quality in the squad, even with the injuries, but a lack of balance, especially with the injuries. Form is another aspect, or is it coaching, tiredness (physical or mental), or the result of a number of things gone wrong?

Is Slot the man to take Liverpool forward? The well incorporated tactics with Salah as he main man, had to change as case of the transfer window, especially with Wirtz and Isak in. Major changes takes time to incorporate, mix that with injuries Ina very competative league, and you are bound to have a rough time. So I am still not sure, and I was bored of the playing style early last season. The big no, is the turning of the fans, because if they are not following then what do you have? And Slot does not manage to put the fire out there to make us believe, as Klopp did even in the bad periods (and there were many of them, often in seasons after sucsess) .

We need cover in the back (as transfers), Konate is showing progress, but injuryrate, and longer periods of not performing well enough is a worry, and being out of contract in the summer as well. VVD is not getting younger, and needs replacement in a shorter period of time. Noen of the backups have shown to be trusted. Player by player we should be covered in midfield, but something is wrong, again back to data that fans do not have, perhaps some of the things not easy to explain. Attacking there is quality, but a need to make the quality work together as a team.

There is a lot of things not working as we all see. But things that could change, if things click a little better. And a few major concerns. The major concerns is physical ability, is or physical or mental, if it is physical, call a taxi to Slot and his staff and Get them out of there. If it is mental, there is a chance to improve faster. Again, i do not have data. But as I have an understanding of, one of the criteria the made Slot number 1 was his ability to make players available to play, and that often has a background in physical abilities. The dutch league and premier league is very different here, and the same plan for training would not work in both leagues, nor the tactics. The worry of seeing that players seems knackered so early in the game after running less and with less intensity is major concern, and something that should not happen with the knowledge that this staff should be having.

My guess is that Slot is gone in the summer, or perhaps even earlier, but what about the staff above him? Are they performing well enough, Hughes and Edwards are supposed to have responsability of transfers that in a way put Slot in a position to change a lot in a short period of time.

So Slotthedross would replace Slot with:

Alonso - RM manager, turned us down once already for Leverkusen

“Rialo” - assume you mean the Bournemouth manager “Iraola”. He’s Bournemouth manager, he’s not available at present. They’re currently 15th in the premier league and have scored fewer goals than we have. Good choice, not available.

Flick - Barcelona manager, also not available.

So you haven’t provided any realistic replacements. Just names of managers of other clubs, one who has turned us down once already, once who is struggling in the premier league and one 60 year old who has no premier league experience.

You assume these managers are lining up to come to Liverpool, you need a reality check.

He’s sucked the life out of everything klopp created. It’s not fun watching us play. We may not of won many titles but when the season kicked off we was amongst the favourites for the prem, the champions league etc. we looked forward to the season starting cos the football had us invested. If all us lesser mortals can see it’s a pile of p.

why can’t he? We need a strong manager who is going to tell Hughes what he wants otherwise he can go too. This fella hasn’t got a clue. You can’t sit there and throw more money at it over and over. We was champions last season and favourites this year and he’s broke that up for his vision of whatever this is. Demoralised.

Frode nailed it with terrified of losing the ball hence the sideways and backwards passing.

02 Jan 2026 02:52:22
No, Slot is absolutely not the right person.

As many have already said and as i've pointed out before, it really doesn’t look like we have a proper game plan. The absence of our two most creative players from last season (Diaz and Trent) is massive.

Salah hasn’t managed to build a good partnership with either Bradley or Frimpong, and Gakpo… I honestly don’t know what he’s trying to do. He never really challenges defenders, just cuts inside to put in a pointless cross when we have no one in the box, or plays sideways and backwards constantly.

Since Rio is the one player despite being young, who actually takes players on and has shown he can beat his man, I think he deserves more minutes, especially now that Salah is gone.

I’ve said it before: Nico Williams would be a dream signing. We also need a longterm Salah replacement and two CB, because our current ones simply make too many mistakes. On top of that, I think we should get a strong defensive midfielder, although that feels slightly less urgent compared to fixing the defence. Right now the main issue is that our CBs aren’t good enoug and that we don't create many chances.

If there’s a change in manager, Id honestly ask Zidane if he would be interested for a year, or even speak to Inzaghi.

Thanks carra for all the info and happy new year to all.

Slot has to go. This dire football is unwatchable. Im so far beyond done with Slot and his tactics!
Watching sport is all about being entertained and for a couple of hours, forgetting our every day problems by enjoying our favourite team. And LFC/ FSG are failing on this front. Im all for winning titles, and know you can't be at your best every game. But . Just give the crowd and the millions following around the world something to get excited about. Put us on the edge of our seats. Give us something worthy of forgetting our problems!

We need atleast 1 CB and a DM as a priority. But if slot remains in charge, I don't see any incoming player making much of a difference.

Get over it Ron. None of us NEED to hire Slot's replacement, it's not our job. Just because I don't KNOW who would be better (as if that's possible) doesn't mean he isn't the wrong guy. Your argument is spurious at best. And while I don't know, I certainly suspect there are probably a dozen people living within 10 miles of Anfield who, at the very least, wouldn't make us worse and I'm for giving anyone else a shot at this point. But stop with your nonsense, I ain't paid to know who all the managing options are and I never will be.

02 Jan 2026 00:07:34
Id keep Slot until a better option is available. Sacking him now isn't going to win us any of the 3 competitions we are still in. We don't need to shore the ship with an interim manager as we are not mid-table. Changing management now will only lead to more disruption and false dawns unless we hire a long-term replacement.

Id just like to see a top CB and an aggressive ball-winning DM brought in.

The passion and energy that Klopp bought to the team, no one was going to be replacing that. He had his own charm and charisma, and I feel we are stuck in that nostalgia, replaying all those moments that gave us dopamine highs.

With any new manager, we were bound to be needing to adjust. Luckily, Slot won the league in his first season, so all the cracks were swept under the rug.

Truth be told, us fans haven't fully adjusted or accepted Slot's style of play. We yearn for the old, heavy metal football, and anything not close, fingers are pointed to this drab style of play. Sure it doesn't help that the results are not going in our favor either. Let's not forget defensive frailties in Klopp's early seasons.

And since when have we become the team that changes managers at a whim (think Chelsea) ; I'd be waiting for the full season to end before passing judgement on whether Slot shall continue beyond this season.

I hope that between this transfer window and the summers, Slot figures out the tactical plan for team. My biggest worry is whether he has the players on his side. A lack of intensity, evident is many matches, is it down to the tactics or the players not showing up? This will determine whether Slot remains the man in charge come next season.

02 Jan 2026 07:13:16
I think Slot would be much better as an assistant coach of a great manager than managing a big club himself. He might be capable of improving what's already been there (as per early last season), but it's clear he's not yet reached the level of building his style, his team and beginning a new era.

He seems to have neither the personality nor the philosophy required for the task.

02 Jan 2026 08:09:17
Ron at this rate I’d replace him with Gerrard. It can’t be any worse. You riding this moral virtuous high ground is comedy gold and makes you look like a buffoon. Slot is atrocious this season and has time has come.

02 Jan 2026 11:58:09
Hi Carra. Thanks for all your input.

For me Slot will always be a PL winning manager, and I whilst I don't agree with the playing style change, I commend his bravery for trying. The biggest issue though is his stubbornness in not realising it isn't working. It's maddening to think that our manager seemingly doesn't understand the league he's already won, but the evidence is clear. Unless he changes his approach, and brings it back to the high energy style that put us back amongst the European elite under Klopp, which I do not believe he will, then no I do not believe he is the man to take us forward. A shame, as he mostly seems intelligent, well spoken and professional, but with the one fatal flaw of not learning from quite obvious mistakes.

IMO we need to go back to that high octane style of play, unshackle this immensely talented squad, play football that gets the fans going and bring back the power of Anfield, which is being drained by the turgid football being produced.

Player wise I genuinely don't think it makes that much if a difference. As iv said elsewhere you could bring in the best players in the world in each position and I don't think it would make much difference. Even if we won this style of footy just isn't Liverpool. That said we clearly need to start making plans for replacing the waning powers of VVD and the midfield has no bite in it whatsoever. We never really replaced Fabinho IMO. So yeah, CB and DM a priority for me.
