PSG want over 110m for Baracola! LFC plz don’t even waste the phone call to ask about him!!
30 Jun 2026 09:34:39
You ain't never lied, Jay Dub. I agree that the market is crazy now, so if we pay the money then, so be it.
That being said, I don't think I want Barcola that bad in order to pay that money for him esp. since I don't rate him at all.
30 Jun 2026 09:43:51
Would rather El Mala for £45m and keep Gakpo.
30 Jun 2026 09:48:52
That's too much. I would go to 70-80 and leave it there. We have other positions to work on.
I'm calm with the market.
I honestly think it's because I have so much faith in Iraola. I just think he'll get the max out of whoever we buy.
30 Jun 2026 09:57:46
Maybe he'll get the max out of Barcola. I couldn't give a flying fish about the money. It's not mine.
30 Jun 2026 09:59:25
They're using us to fund the Diomande purchase.
I have had enough of our club getting shafted by oil-sponsored sports washing vehicles.
Simple two-word answer should suffice (or the French alternative).
30 Jun 2026 10:14:38
People were more than happy to spend more on Diomande who has scored less goals in a very weak league.
30 Jun 2026 10:23:11
If true, walk away.
30 Jun 2026 10:24:09
Mk, the price wouldn't bother me if he was a rw option. But all that money for another left winger when we have Gakpo, Munoz and Rio is baffling. I'd rather we gave Bournemouth the £100m plus for Rayan.
30 Jun 2026 10:32:40
Agree on that, Mk.
Only thing I'd disagree with is saying Germany is a very weak league.
30 Jun 2026 10:49:07
I don't think the German league is very good. Not sure any are at the moment. But I would say that it's stronger than the French league, both one-horse races, but one player plays for the horse that wins.
30 Jun 2026 11:02:16
StEtienneAmen, that was the notion I got for weeks before this whole YD picking PSG dropped.
Imagine them making us pay 100M pounds for Barcola so they can use it to fund the signing of a player (YD) we were willing to pay more than that for but rejected us for them.
Mate, the jokes writhe themselves in that PSG boardroom.
30 Jun 2026 11:12:44
If PSG rate Barcola over 110£, why don't they want to keep him?
They want us to buy Diomande for them.
30 Jun 2026 11:14:08
He won't go for 110. He is 4th choice winger now, with two years left. It's PSG's right to posture, but no one will pay that for him.
30 Jun 2026 11:17:26
MK - There may be a sense that we've seen the best of Barcola at PSG. Whereas with Diomande, the sense would be that there is more to come.
30 Jun 2026 11:36:06
Faith, Barcola is 23 years old. I do not buy for a second we've seen the best of him. We signed Salah and Mane at about 24/25 years old.
JK23, Bundesliga attackers notoriously struggle when they move abroad. The goalkeeping there is diabolical, and the defending is extremely passive. A lot of people call it "the Bundesliga tax" because when signing players from that league you need to consider they'll probably get nowhere near those numbers.
Kane in his twilight years has suddenly doubled his output. Nkunku and Werner fell to pieces when they left. It's a common theme when signing forwards from the Bundesliga.
30 Jun 2026 11:48:56
MK, get all that, mate, and fully agree on players getting those numbers (except Haaland & KDB), but I think there's a difference between saying it's not the strongest league out there compared to it being a very weak league.
When posters describe Wirtz as a generational talent or world class, the above never seems to get mentioned.
30 Jun 2026 11:51:39
French league ain't that strong either, MK.
30 Jun 2026 11:54:28
Attacking midfielders/No 10s, call them what you want, also have trouble settling from Bundesliga to PL, especially at Liverpool. That was hopefully all down to Slot, though. Only time will tell.
30 Jun 2026 12:12:17
Rover, the French league has a much higher level in terms of physicality and intensity. Wirtz has more talent than Cherki, in my opinion, but Cherki has adapted so much quicker to the Prem.
JK, maybe it was lost in my word choice, but I'm talking about the German league in terms of the defending. I think it is weak.
Keepers are all ball-playing Neuer-wannabes, CBs all back off, everyone has positionally suspect wing-backs, etc. Lots of talented players, but the defending is weak. Wirtz definitely struggled to settle and only serves to emphasise my point. He went about 20 games without a league goal, didn't he?
30 Jun 2026 12:13:52
I'll tell you now, if we don't pay circa £100m for Barcola, then somebody else will.
If we want him, we'll have to stump up the cash. Like it or loathe it, we are in a market where Elliott Anderson goes for £116m plus add ons and Villa want £130m for Morgan Rogers.
It's crazy money, but as long as teams are willing to pay it, then teams will ask for it.
30 Jun 2026 12:22:48
MK, I'm not making that point, just my read on how people may be assessing it. I do think Barcola moving to us from PSG is quite different to Mo and Mane moving to us from the clubs they came from.
30 Jun 2026 12:36:48
For 100m plus, I would rather go for a Minteh. Knows the league and is a grafter. Puts up comparable numbers to the Barcola of 2 seasons ago also, which is the age gap between the two. Minteh's numbers would obviously also improve playing for a top team.
30 Jun 2026 12:45:26
Yeah f*** that, give me Mika Godts and Jared Bowen. Could bring in both for £100m. Bowen's not the long-term solution, but he'll do for now. The RW market isn't great at the moment.
30 Jun 2026 13:17:21
Florian, you would pay 100m plus for Minteh?!
30 Jun 2026 13:44:03
No, PB. I meant if Barcola is gonna cost that much.
30 Jun 2026 14:54:57
Mks, Cherki would drown had he signed for us under Slot last season under Slot, and Wirtz would have cooked under Pep last season, equally, so that example proves nothing, respectfully.
Also, imo, the French League is not better than the Bundesliga cos Bundesliga teams fleece the French League for talent and have been doing so for decades (I used to live in France so I know).
Where do you think Bayern got Frank Ribery from?
30 Jun 2026 16:27:39
Have to say I missed when Ligue 1 surpassed the Bundesliga. For me, the German league is much stronger overall.
30 Jun 2026 17:22:33
I agree, Florian.
