Helluva 3pts that. V poor game overall. I'd say Everton fans extremely disappointed with their team, it there for them and they just didn't do enough.
Jones done quite well I thought, probably our best player, done v well to play the ball out at end to get corner from which we scored. Salah decent as well.

Everton were disappointing today. I've not seen much of them this season, but by all accounts they've been playing well. But I lost count of the times Pickford just volleyed the ball down the pitch to their big man, but I'm thrilled we won n got the vital 3pts.

Not a fan of these derbies nowadays, hardly any tackles, hardly any fight from both sides. Remember the blood n guts ones we used to have.

I only caught the second half and Everton were quite poor. Both teams seemed fairly timid and lacked dynamism.

I was surprised how easy it was for each team to progress the ball through midfield, but then, around the edge of both boxes, the quality was lacking.

Our front three were poor. Gakpo tried hard enough, but his lack of quality epitomised how we've fallen when he was being lauded as MOM by some.

It had all the quality of watching two drunk tramps, who had visibly soiled themselves front and back, having a fight over the last can of special brew.

No where near good enough, just about scrape a win.

Felt to me, when we pinch the ball in transition, there was no go, nobody busting a gut, getting beyond.

Overthinking, overplaying, no balls into the box.
Takes all the height off, and kicked long to Everton. Same frustrating type of play that doesn't make sense.

Felt after 1, particularly the start of 2nd half, if we just went at them, there was another goal or two.

Can't moan too much, wins a win, but felt lucky against a team who looked like if we stepped up, would have been in trouble.

Pains me to say City v Arsenal are entertaining because both teams are fit. lack of condition is the problem at lfc.

Spot on Kopcat. The fitness levels are worrying. Everyone looks a yard off the pace, with regard to pressing, tackling, and the transition.

I really don't know what to make of that, thought we were mostly poor, barely created anything but got the 3 points. It's a funny old game.

We were poor but Everton were poorer. Still feel a draw would have been a fair result. I was quite surprised by how insipid and timid Everton were. I expected them to be much more aggressive.

Wasn't pretty but a much needed 3 points.

It was like watching the blues in the 90s, Moyes in the dug out, and the big lump up the park to Fergus, now it is Beto from the keeper. Things never change !!! YNWA

Lmao I am having such a moment. Just jumped off the toilet at VVD winner and then s*** hit the fan. I came to a realisation - every win from here pushes us closer to Slot staying another year.

Ahhahahhahah sorry, boys. I didn't want only my night to be spoiled.

19 Apr 2026 16:23:53
Fans need to make it known he needs to go then.

5

19 Apr 2026 16:36:55
Thing is, it's not about us wanting to keep him, it's about him wanting to stay, and, by the sounds of it, he doesn't. But we'll see.

19 Apr 2026 16:56:54
And when I say is wanting to keep him, I meant the higher ups, not the fans. CL qualification is not going to make him fall in love with the club and want to stay.

Sorry, but if you jump off the toilet, s*** is gonna hit something anyway .. especially after the Guinness....

Great result.

Woeful performance.

To be fair, both teams were awful, and Slot's approach to games sometimes is infuriating, he wants to take the sting out the game, take the temperature of the game down to zero and run the clock down, betting on our quality when we get in the attacking third to score. Strange game from us, with no high press and no passing out from the back, and given injuries and fitness, the performance on the offensive end was maybe to be expected.

I think our entire back line was incredibly professional though. It was the right choice starting Robbo. Jones was excellent too.

Our quality in the attacking third??

2

19 Apr 2026 17:15:39
Technically speaking, we do have quality players in the attacking third. The first goal we scored is testament to that.

3

19 Apr 2026 17:50:29
The passing was very poor at times, Gravenberch was the biggest culprit.
But I thought we played the controlled football. Efc had a few chances, the best was Beto, his shot nearly hit the corner. 🤣😂

Patrick, we won the ball high up and finally made a decent pass (probably waited 20 games for it).

Wasn't this how we've always played before Slot? High press, high energy. We saw it for 5 mins.

Konate was poor for their goal, just let the attacker go by him, otherwise our defending was ok.

We don't play with any conviction though, we lack power and intensity throughout the midfield and attack with the exception of Szob.

If this is Arne's philosophy, and he's not going to change, I've had more than enough of it regardless of results.

Two poor teams on show today in the derby. I then watched the City Arsenal match and the gulf in quality was huge.

Have to agree about Konate.. there, at one point he's all over the back of an Everton winger in their own half and im thinking "why are you there? cos if he manages to turn you or play a decent pass..

you're out the game.. and it's worrying his lack of positional sense is not being coached out of him.

Always said he has all the tools to be a very good centre back.. he just doesn't have the brains to use them.

Last 15 mins of the game and we are playing for a point. What a downgrade in mentality since Klopp.

19 Apr 2026 16:08:09
Well, a game lasts 90 minutes. Just a reminder.

19 Apr 2026 16:09:41
Mad how slow and horrendous we looked second half.

Like we can't be bothered. Then taking all the height off and playing long ball.

Burns my head out.

19 Apr 2026 16:11:48
O no, we're not Nabeel !!! Get in, you beauty.

Well Mama is out now.
New excuses loading. God damn this season can't end sooner!

19 Apr 2026 15:28:03
Get Jones out of this club!!

4

19 Apr 2026 15:52:07
The only man who should get out of this club is the manager. His tactics and style of play is horrendous. The players don't look like they know what they are doing, they don't look fit, there is no leader on the pitch, no one able to make a tackle.

It is pathetic.

He should have been sacked months ago, but it appears our leadership also has no spine!

19 Apr 2026 16:07:16
Normally I'd agree, but today, Jones was our best player.

12

19 Apr 2026 16:07:24
I thought Jones was good today.

12

19 Apr 2026 16:13:24
Were you watching the same game we were, Bulk? Jones was poor but in his defence, he was scrambling after all the hospital passes Konate gave him. I don't think any one of our players had a good game tbh. Maybe Gakpo, but even then I thought he was kinda average and marginally better than the rest.

19 Apr 2026 16:14:02
I am not a big fan of Curtis, but today, playing at right back, I thought he has found his position if he stays at the club. YNWA.

19 Apr 2026 16:18:23
Jones man of the match for me.

2

19 Apr 2026 16:21:35
He just helped Liverpool win a derby today. What did you do?

1

19 Apr 2026 16:22:55
Jones wasn't bad, he's just not a right back, was better than Gravy and Szobo.

3

19 Apr 2026 19:06:09
Yeah, Jones was pretty good and I'd much rather have him at rb than waste Szobo there.
