Hello all,
Slot has been pretty much been ‘gone’ for some time as I’ve mentioned.
Not sure the whole thing has been handled correctly but there we are.
Think by the end of the month we will have a new manager, potentially next week if a certain meeting goes well.
Ta.

Thanks for info carra, appreciated as always.
Previously u had said there list of permanent managers and interim candidates where being assessed. Do u know which way we leaning ag this point, interim r can we get who we want permanent?
07 Dec 2025 10:18:44
Thanks Carra. I hope this gets done next week. Reports of Stevie G stepping in or is that way off the mark?
07 Dec 2025 10:20:15
Thanks carra as always.
07 Dec 2025 10:26:41
Thanks Carra. Any nationalities you could share would be much appreciated . Italian perhaps based on one of your recent posts.
07 Dec 2025 10:28:54
Cheers Carra that gladdens my heart no end. Let’s get the right man in who actually will be all in on the club the culture and turn this mess around.
07 Dec 2025 10:29:06
Potentially some much needed good news, cheers carra.
07 Dec 2025 10:29:38
Hello Digger,
Interim option is being sounded out, our full time option may have to wait.
Ta.
07 Dec 2025 10:29:47
That is music to my ears Carra, nice one.
Iraola will have this lot working hard and playing with a style that suits this leage.
07 Dec 2025 10:30:48
Thanks for the info Carra but this is crazy - our most successful manager over his first 50 games gets the sack. Only 2 of our 9 managers have won the Premier League and he did it in the first season.
He’s earnt the right to sort it out and have a season of going from “Mo to Flo”. Had a season ticket for 45 years and will never be so disgusted with the Club if this happens. We are not Chelsea.
07 Dec 2025 10:33:51
Hello Hugo,
Inzaghi would jump through hoops to take over at Liverpool. He isn’t a Hughes/ Edwards man though.
He’d be my personal first choice,
On a side note, Italian managers have an excellent record in England.
Ta.
07 Dec 2025 10:38:14
Interesting Carra thanks, didn’t think we’d go interim but if we have to wait so be it.
07 Dec 2025 10:44:59
Thanks Carra.
Carra do you see Stevie G taking over interim with Riola or Alonso being the FT replacement?
07 Dec 2025 10:51:06
Thanks for the info Carra, appreciated as always. The sounding out of an interim ties in with something I saw on "X"; about a former player who is a legend in these parts.
07 Dec 2025 10:55:23
Cheers Carra, I wonder if Gary O'Neil has been looked at for the interim after being part of the u23 set up a few years back.
If Slot were to leave would it be all the coaching staff as well? It would be some upheaval with games coming quick and fast.
07 Dec 2025 10:55:43
Inzaghi's football isn't any more exciting than what we've been seeing the last few weeks, probably less. That being said the players we have do kind of suit the system that he has with Frimpong and Kerkez as wing backs and Ekitike and Isak up front, though we would need to bring in Guehi to make it work, and Guehi would probably have to play the Bastoni role.
It would mean there is no place for Gakpo, though, and it would be unclear what place Wirtz would have if he isn't playing false 9.
07 Dec 2025 10:57:04
It'll be Iraola so jut because of the connection with Hughes.
07 Dec 2025 10:59:17
Cheers carra appreciated as always, you legend.
07 Dec 2025 10:59:43
JoeBuck - Refusing to sack a manager who deserves it does not make Liverpool a special club; it makes it a stupid one. Liverpool is a special club because of its success, most of which came under top-tier managers (Shankley, Paisley, Fagan, Klopp) . Slot has had 10 months to address our poor performances, and has failed at doing so.
Time is absolutely up, now.
{Ed001's Note - we used to refuse to sack failures, which is why we were in the second tier when Shanks took over.}
07 Dec 2025 11:03:06
Cheers carra.
07 Dec 2025 11:10:38
Gerrard would be a terrible appointment. Even on an interim basis. Poor record at his last two clubs, he nearly took Villa down, tactically inept and lacks the charisma to make up for that,
07 Dec 2025 11:11:04
Cheers Carra.
Lets hope it goes well and we get the right person in to get a kick up the arse of the players (well the ones that need it) until the "right" manager is available!
07 Dec 2025 11:12:17
Thanks for the info Carra.
Wonder is there a cryptic clue in there about Italian Managers.
Mancini as interim?
07 Dec 2025 11:13:47
Cheers Carra. I’ve been patiently waiting for you to post.
When you say possibly next week if meetings go well, is that:
1. For a permanent manager or interim?
2. No problem if you can’t say but are you able to give us a name?
07 Dec 2025 11:21:38
JoeBuck, I'd really love to give Slot time to turn it around and I will always appreciate him for winning us the title, but if it has reached breaking point with the players there is little point keeping him on. It's very sad and I wish it wasn't the case but his stubbornness seems to have cost him his job.
07 Dec 2025 11:22:51
Lowe - Moores didn't pull the trigger on sacking Houllier (despite having unanimous backing from the board) until Rafa threatened to walk away.
07 Dec 2025 11:05:27
Thanks Carra, great news!
The longer this goes on, the worse we are getting. Fingers crossed for next week!
Any hint of a name / nationality for either Interim or Permanent?
07 Dec 2025 11:35:40
Please God not Gerrard!
We want our club moving forward not taken backwards again .
07 Dec 2025 11:38:59
Thanks Carra.
There goes my prediction. thought Hughes and co would have backed him to the end. anyway!
Quick question, are the players aware that Slot is gone, or flare they in the dark about it?
07 Dec 2025 11:53:36
Maybe the hierarchy will look to offload Hughes so as to open up options for whom might be on the list of manager options and hopefully re-jig the Transfer Committee as well.
07 Dec 2025 11:54:41
"On a side note, Italian managers have an excellent record in England. "->Could this be a hint, Carra? Is the interim manager an Italian who has PL experience or.?
Perhaps Ranieri could be a possibility? Has abundant PL experience, saved AS Roma twice from crisis as an interim (just last season too! ), currently serving as senior advisor there. I heard he's retired from management now, but he reversed his decision just last year, so why not do it once more if Hughes and co are persuasive enough.
07 Dec 2025 11:58:15
Nice one Carra.
Not sure how I feel about Stevie potentially coming in tho.
07 Dec 2025 12:04:48
Thanks Carra. Can’t lie i am very relieved at this news.
I’m in agreement that this has not been handled well - as i said weeks ago, prolonging the situation will only make it worse.
Hopefully we can get a good man in and start to turn this around.
07 Dec 2025 12:12:12
Thanks Carra. Do you have any idea who we want in the Longer term, is Alonso the only option?
07 Dec 2025 12:15:55
I actually think Gerrard might do well.
Similar to what happened when ole took over at united.
On a short term basis, there wouldn’t be long enough to be found out for the extremely average coach he is. He’ll get away with it until May!
The feel good factor would be back.
He’d have the players playing for the badge again, with a bit of freedom. Hard work, working for the fans, leaving everything on the pitch, similar to what he did as a player.
Imagine a champions league quarter final at anfield wirh Stevie in the dugout.
He would use that secret weapon that Arne has neglected and has shy’d away from. The anfield factor. Let the fans suck the ball into the net.
As long as everyone knows it’s only for 6 months, I think it might work.
The key, however, would be to get in the right coaches too. Get a really good experienced assistant manager in alongside him (any ideas anyone? )
And give it 5 months!
07 Dec 2025 12:28:26
Edin Terzic, Xavi?
IF, and its a big IF Gerrard was brought in for 6 months, he would need a ready made coaching team along side, not of his own choosing.
07 Dec 2025 12:28:55
Thank you for sharing Carra.
07 Dec 2025 12:43:28
With interims do they usually form their own coaching teams, I guess they’ll choose the assistant but maybe not the others. If they’re all going anyway end of season may as well get rid now. Maybe the interim is Heitinga.
07 Dec 2025 12:52:07
Iraola is not the number one manager target. The permanent target is unlikely to be put in place until summer 2026.
07 Dec 2025 13:45:36
Heitinga is available as assistant manager possibly to work with interim?
I think the slump in form and now with Salah speaking out has damaged our reputation, meaning it really doesn’t bode well for the club, something has to be done to restore stability, create a more positive dialogue and pretty quickly too, as the media are having a field day with the club.
I hope Carra is right ?? and thanks for putting this out there.
I truly think interim with plans and talks for new permanent is the most probable way ahead right now, bit not ITK nor a wise to how things work….
07 Dec 2025 13:52:31
Reynard Who is then?
07 Dec 2025 14:07:05
Here's a name completely from left field. what about Marcelo Bielsa?
Currently coach at Uruaguay national team. he'd get these guys fit and running in no time
Not sure he would be interested though. especially since the world cup is around the corner.
Wishful thinking that he could do a dual job. LFC interim coach and national coach for Uruguay at the same time.
07 Dec 2025 14:15:35
Bielsa is a god in the world of football, but not so much because of the results that he brings, but his integrity, intelligence, ideas and personality, that press conference he did recently was probably the most incredible thing that I've seen him do, possibly ever. He is not a pragmatic coach and I wouldn't want to see him as the Liverpool manager even though you can't help but admire him.
Terzic is terrible, the story of his rise to Dortmund coach is a deeply romantic one but he isn't a top level coach.
07 Dec 2025 14:15:55
Thanks Carra. Much appreciated as always. Could you please shed some light on who is the interim option being sounded out for next week?
Cheers!
07 Dec 2025 14:18:22
My money is on Klopp coming back until Alonso becomes available.
There was a guy on here who posted about Wirtz and Isak in the summer. He mentioned Klopp a week or two ago.
07 Dec 2025 14:36:50
Carra, thanks as always for the updates. Any ideas on the interim? Gerrard or Heitenga seem like a nightmare waiting to happen so anything to put those fears at ease would be great.
07 Dec 2025 15:01:43
Alonso is a legacy manager, he will surely be there for at least 2 years, although I imagine more like 5. He has a lot of work to do in changing the culture there.
After that he will undoubtedly manage LFC at some stage and be one of the greatest.
07 Dec 2025 15:26:58
Italian . Thiago Motta?
07 Dec 2025 15:46:50
Adam Well your money must be on drugs so mate.
Klopp is Global Head of Football over at Red Bull, a dream job. He's probably on $10+ mil a year. In terms of stress, in compaison to the prem, there's basically none. The thing Klopp hated most about the prem was the press. Doesn't have to deal with that now. In his new role he get's to work from home when he's not travelling and spend more time with his family. Let's not forget that moving to Mallorca as part of a long term plan for Klopp, the house was bought in 2022 and refurbished over the space of 2 years. He wasnt flipping it for profit and just decided last minute that "it would do". If you think he's going to give all that up to come back and pick up Slots pieces in a 6 month long role, you're off your head. You think Red Bull are just going to let him take 6 months off?!
Not to mention in his recent interview when asked if he'd ever return to Liverpool he looked like a deer in headlights and proceeded to dance around the question giving the most roundabout "why not? " that he could which anyone with half a brain knows means no.
In relation to Alonso. He's not going anywhere. All that hype in the rumour mill about Vini and the ultimatum was reported by a website called Defensa Central, a site known for sensationalist headlines and fabricated stories with no ties to Real Madrid. Far more trusted stories have rubbishd and downplayed the claims. Real sit 2nd in the league 4 points shy of Barcelona with a game in hand and only 1 loss, Alonso's job is safe.
07 Dec 2025 15:48:05
Only in modern football could you be a reigning Champion failure. Still think he'll be here in May meself. Whether that's the correct decision or not i just see them backing him.
07 Dec 2025 16:02:17
I'm surprised there's been no links to Joachim Low, former World Cup winning manager for Germany. He wants to work (ideally internationally), and has rejected offers in the summer. Get him in for 6 months. He'd have the instant respect of the players, and he wouldn't be looking for a gig long-term due to his age (65, 66 in Feb) .
I don't want Gerrard, but it wouldn't surprise me if we considered Gerrard, Michael Beale and Jonny Heitinga as an interim trio to replace Slot, Hulshoff and Van Bronckhorst.
07 Dec 2025 16:23:05
If the permanent preferred choice isn’t Iraola it may well be Nagelsmann.
