Hello all,
Liverpool have made initial contact with Man City over the potential signing of Omar Marmoush. No issues on player side.
24 Dec 2025 18:10:52
This seems so bizarre. Why would they sell him so shortly after he signed? Not criticising your claim btw, it just seems such an uncharacteristic transfer - the two clubs rarely ever trade.
Especially a player who has only been at the club a year- which isn’t a good sign for his quality either if Pep is happy to move him on so soon. Plus, it would help City buy Semenyo presumably.
24 Dec 2025 18:13:32
Sounds like an interesting one, there is certainly a player in there.
24 Dec 2025 18:16:16
oh wow! didn't see that coming. thanks for the info.
24 Dec 2025 18:18:35
So the latest intel is that we backed away from Semenyo because we got word that Man City are hawking Savinho and Marmoush to Spurs and Villa. We prefer Marmoush to Semenyo because of his excellent link up play with Ekitike at Frankfurt.
We think Marmoush prefers a move to us over Spurs but not sure if City will green light it.
Other news is that Braithwaite is our 1st choice for left sided centre back over Schlotterbeck and Bastoni.
24 Dec 2025 18:19:13
Woah, that would be an interesting switch.
24 Dec 2025 18:21:29
Won’t hold my breath.
24 Dec 2025 18:21:48
Bit nuts that wasn’t we linked with him before he went to them.
24 Dec 2025 18:36:53
Not April fools day yet.
24 Dec 2025 18:40:48
petethepool You do realise you're talking about Pep here?! He does have a reputation for moving on swiftly from players he doesn't see fitting his system.
This move makes a lot of sense for us, and fits the rumour that we may have given up on Semenyo as early as November. People have quickly forgotten there were rumours of interest last year. The guy has bags of potential, would be good move in my eyes, if the clubs could come to agreement considering the rivalry. That seems like the biggest obstacle. wouldn't be the first time a player went to a rival club though. Very interesting.
24 Dec 2025 19:11:09
Can’t see it personally and I’d actually prefer Semenyo as I think he has more variety to his game. Be interesting if City signing Semenyo was dependent on someone leaving… mind you probably means nothing for 115fc.
24 Dec 2025 19:12:02
Why sign City dross. Been completely found out this season. Plus, he’s at the AFCON so how would that remotely help us, would be a dumb signing all round.
24 Dec 2025 19:36:05
Could have said that about Salah. Why sign old Chelsea dross etc etc
Players can play better under different pressures and different systems. He played with Ekiteke at Frankfurt and Salah with Egypt. I can’t see it being a massive gamble if true. There’s a player in there.
24 Dec 2025 19:52:52
Yea afcon lasts until May doesn’t it?
Also pep doesn’t always get the best out of players. Julian Alvarez for example.
24 Dec 2025 19:59:43
As much as I would like to see this happen I don’t see why city would sell at this stage, Savinho perhaps but not Marmoush! More coming out that we stepped away from Semenyo a week ago and that’s when City came in to try get a deal done, club must have eyes on other higher priorities.
24 Dec 2025 20:03:53
He’s earning way too much at City for us to be interested. I think I read he was on close to 300k per week.
24 Dec 2025 20:23:30
Why the negativity? Omar Marmoush would be great signing for us. I doubt city would sell but let’s see what happens. Marmoush ekitike and Isak, not sure if it would work but would be frightening. Thanks VG, really hoping your info is spot on with this one!
24 Dec 2025 20:47:58
Marmoush is decent to be fair. Not as good a signing as Semenyo though. Homegrown, probably cheaper wages and pace and workrate galore as well as both footed. I like Marmoush but definitely plenty of risk attached.
But again the way we're playing lately can see why Semenyo isn't a fit. would be the ideal signing in the gegenpress system. Fingers crossed we see some return towards it at least tempo wise.
24 Dec 2025 21:19:26
I hope you’re right Victor. I really like Marmoush. He joined the wrong club in my opinion and his link up play with Ekitike would be great to see at the club. He’s a better technical footballer than Semenyo for sure, but Semenyo is unquestionably the better athlete.
I’d be very happy if Marmoush came in.
24 Dec 2025 21:30:42
When Salah played at Chelsea his career stalled - when he moved on it got back on track. When Marmoush moved to City, his career stalled.
I wonder if Marmoush and Salah are having a chat at AFCON .
24 Dec 2025 21:57:11
What’s the point of signing a player who won’t be available until likely the end of January? Even then, the comparison with Alvarez is entirely false. Alvarez hated living in England and wanted out. It wasn’t that Pep wanted rid. Marmoush is mediocre at best, not particularly rapid, not particularly skilful, certainly no physicality.
He is definitely not worth whatever City will want for him, with the worst of it being it’ll enable City to sign an actually decent winger in Semenyo.
24 Dec 2025 23:24:02
City are signing Semenyo either way so you need not worry about that.
And the point is you sign them for the long term, so 1 month does not matter.
24 Dec 2025 23:28:00
Because clubs don't sign players because of unavailability or availability for 3 weeks. They sign them for 4+ years. Nobody knows whether he will fit better or worse than AS within our squad but he's certainly not as poor a player as your alluding to VV. AS is currently flavour of the month. He's done well this season so far and I admire his attributes but like Marmoush he's a signing that may or may not suit us, nor perhaps City!, However, Pep can sign who he likes as it suits him and then jettison them within the space of 6 months if it suits him also.
We don't have that luxury. Barcola, like AS, and Alonso, is not happening so we must move on to another choice. I believe it's a good selection if true, especially if he WANTS to join our party. The real issue is not; not getting AS, instead, it's NOT getting Iraola. He's the best signing we could get and get NOW!
25 Dec 2025 01:54:44
Imagine if we sack off Semenyo to move for Marmoush without checking if his wages are actually reasonable? I wouldn’t put it past us at the moment.
25 Dec 2025 05:08:36
@Vic, the point of buying him might be that he will be available for us for the next five or six years.
OP, are you sure about the Braithwaite rumour? I thought he had retired - he hasn’t played for ages and I’m sure one of the Ed’s on here really rates the partnership of Tarks and that other one who was fighting with his team mate on the pitch.
25 Dec 2025 06:41:30
This is a very strange one.
Also, love how the "pain in the arse" is now playing as our main scout.
Love these types of stories!
25 Dec 2025 07:27:46
Anonymous Woolback He hasn't done enough to prove he's worth the money he's on so if he wants to further his career and play week in week out he'll have to take a wage cut.
