Morning Gents.

Liverpool looking at midfield now.

Loads of names are being floated around recently, especially to the mainstream media, possibly a tactic to get deals done quietly during these last legs of the window.

Hence my hesitation to post many.

But.

Lamine Camara is what I'm being told, and Monaco have sourced his replacement already.

Cheers.

27 Aug 2026 12:13:20
Thanks, Robbo, and hope so!

27 Aug 2026 12:13:34
Good news - never seen him play (didn't notice him in pre season to tell the truth), but midfield reinforcements are needed... Is he an out and out 6?

27 Aug 2026 12:15:20
Legend, Robbo, cheers.

27 Aug 2026 12:18:03
Cheers, Robbo.

Bradley Barcola done. The defensive midfielder I wanted, Lamine Camara, being targeted next. You'd think it was Christmas.

All I need now is for Liverpool to wrap up the Camara deal and bring in a genuinely good right winger, preferably Ibrahim Mbaye, and I'll be more than happy.

27 Aug 2026 12:18:10
Cheers Robbo, thanks for all the info during this window mate.

27 Aug 2026 12:18:57
He is an out and out 6, and if it is true I be delighted! (Love it, Robbo - Welcome back!!!)

27 Aug 2026 12:19:30
So hope this happens. Thanks, Robbo.

27 Aug 2026 12:20:17
Temu Stevie G, who I imagine will displace Grav quite quickly.

27 Aug 2026 12:23:15
Robbo, don't do this to me!!!! Would be magic.

27 Aug 2026 12:23:21
Maybe someone can help me see what I'm missing with Camara. As far as I have seen, watched and read, he is a box to box midfielder, not an out and out no.6. He is also only 5'8, so he's smaller than Wirtz, whose main criticism is he hasn't adapted physically to the league.

So what is it about Camara that people think is going to solve our midfield issues?

{Ed001's Note - Sadiki is about the same height, not sure why that is relevant unless you are stuck in the 1950s and have no understanding of the real world?}

27 Aug 2026 12:24:58
That's good news. Midfield still needed two imo. Would have happily welcomed Wharton.

27 Aug 2026 12:25:00
He looked very good in the PA game we played against them. A cut above the rest in midfield.
I'd be happy with Camara.
I'd also be dropping Wirtz and putting Szobo at the #10. Love his pressing in that position.

27 Aug 2026 12:26:31
Cheers, Robbo. Would we entertain Angelo Stiller as a possibility?

27 Aug 2026 12:27:01
Just what this squad needs imo, exciting stuff!

27 Aug 2026 12:27:02
Robbo, what happened with Wharton? Did we have interest or just move on? Thanks, man.

27 Aug 2026 12:27:50
This would be very close to a great window if we sign Camara.

I wanted Kounde, Camara and Barcola. Araujo is a half-decent alternate to Kounde, but getting those other two would be incredible.

27 Aug 2026 12:28:45
Cheers, Robbo.

I am hopeful on Lamine Camara. Still think we needed two mids, but it looks like Macca is going nowhere this summer.

Everyone and their dog knows we are trying to sign a RW, so assume something gets done there.

Whether it is Minteh, Rayan or Mbaye - all ok for me.

Secretly hoping for a surprise move for a right back.

Address all those and we can make a challenge this season.

27 Aug 2026 12:34:57
Respect as always, Robbo. ?

27 Aug 2026 12:35:10
Would be a good addition; I've been very doubtful we would get a deal done for MF, so I will be over the moon if we actually get this over the line.

27 Aug 2026 12:36:23
Iraola does not play with an out and out 6.

A team can either play with a No. 10 or a No. 6. You can not do both (unless you play a diamond).

This is basic stuff. Let's at least try to remain in reality when we talk about LFC.

{Ed001's Note - and yet lots of teams manage to play with two no 6s and a 10 and have done for as long as I can remember. So not sure why you believe that you can not do both?}

27 Aug 2026 12:39:00
I liked his dad Titi.....oooohhh he's Titi Camara, he's Titi Camara.....I know he is, I'm sure he is, he's Titi Camaraaaaaaaaahhh.

27 Aug 2026 12:41:14
Please please please please please please please please please please please Let it be so!!!!!

27 Aug 2026 12:46:11
Nice one, but am I right that when Barcola comes we would need to sell one foreign player to make room for Lamine Camara? I hope Federico Chiesa is at the exit door, since he has become useless.

If we sell Harvey Elliott, then we need to add one homegrown or sell one foreign player since Curtis left. Not the best planning of the squad.

27 Aug 2026 12:54:34
Thanks, Robbo. Great news. Would be a good window and always worth waiting to the end to judge.

27 Aug 2026 13:07:35
Thanks for the update, Robbo. Fingers crossed.

27 Aug 2026 13:12:13
It's true that he's not really a 6 and more of an 8, but he can play and has played throughout his Monaco career in a double pivot as an athletic, physical midfielder. His all around game is good, given that he is decent at passing (he can play it short or even play it long), very good at shielding the ball in small spaces, and he is a ball-winning machine, snapping into tackles and scrambling for loose balls everywhere. He has super long legs and is very fast, and has all the qualities you need in a pressing midfielder.

Also worth noting that he is excellent at taking corners, and isn't averse to playing a through ball, cutting through the lines, too. So he's not a conventional 'destroyer', but more like an all round midfielder who loves a tackle, but also gives you something creatively in terms of forward passing, too.

I think he would have no problems staying deeper if Grav is marauding forwards, but he can also be the one to advance, since he played with Zakaria as the slightly more defensively-inclined partner at Monaco.

{Ed025's Note - maybe Grav would be on the bench if he came PB?..

27 Aug 2026 13:15:11
Cheers, Robbo, that's both you and VG saying Camara..... I have confidence this will happen now.

Earlier poster questioning his height. Wasn't Kante 5ft6"? I'm pretty sure he was one of the most physical players in the league during his pomp. This is football not heavy weight boxing, physicality is about getting stuck in, covering large distances and being able to shrug off tackles.

27 Aug 2026 13:32:12
Eddythereddy, Ngolo Kante is 5ft6. He did alright.

27 Aug 2026 13:34:01
That was a sudden mood change. ?

Chelsea played with two number tens and two sixes (depending on your definition of a six), Lassic.

27 Aug 2026 13:35:29
Thanks for those offering constructive feedback. I watched Mascherano play for us and realise Kante was amazing, both as small players, so I'm not an idiot, I understand height is not a pre-requisite. But, if you don't have height, you do need other attributes, so I was really just asking from those who'd watched more of him if he has those other attributes like covering ground and getting stuck in that would help our midfield issues.

From the responses, it seems like he does. Good to hear!

27 Aug 2026 13:27:16
Thanks robbo for all you work over window.

Really hope camara gets done as this is what's missing more than anything to me. Grav not doing his job. A dedicates rw would be nice too though. Thanks again boys.

27 Aug 2026 13:43:58
Gattuso, Kante, Makelele... All considered world class 6s... All very short.

Being a six is mostly about stamina and tenacity. It's a position which a lot of clubs don't play with anymore. Usually they have a ball playing possession recycler now.

27 Aug 2026 13:59:28
Lots of strong powerful players have played the game who aren't the tallest. Add in Messi, Maradona, Mascherano, Salah ... for shorter players who are strong.
That's in addition to the 6s already listed above, Kante, Makelele, Sadiki, etc. Weird post referencing height as an issue.

27 Aug 2026 14:02:50
Klopp had Milner, Henderson and Wiji in his midfield. None of this 6,8,10 rubbish. But all could tackle and cover each other, all could hold onto the ball, all could pass, all could run up and down the pitch, all had energy, all could last 90 minutes and at least 2 of them were vocal / leaders on the pitch as you need to be in midfield.

That's what we should be looking for in a midfielder.

27 Aug 2026 14:08:39
I foresee heavy sales in tissues upcoming, you know who you are. ?

27 Aug 2026 14:19:08
How did he perform against LFC in preseason?

27 Aug 2026 13:21:23
You really don't rate Gravenberch ed025 lol

{Ed025's Note - i think he had half a good season 2 years ago PB but has got complacent and maybe a little bit lazy mate, there is obviously a good player in there somewhere i expect..but he has to show on a more consistent basis for me..

27 Aug 2026 14:53:38
After doing my three minutes of YouTube research, I'm all for this transfer.

27 Aug 2026 15:03:23
Eddy, so can u tell me who's considered the daddy of the CDM? French fella named Meklele, kindly tell us his height please.

27 Aug 2026 15:17:48
Thanks, Robbo.

27 Aug 2026 15:18:12
And cheers as well to you.

27 Aug 2026 15:40:53
We currently have 18 non-homegrown players for 17 non-homegrown places in the Champions League squad.
Ekitike can be registered as long-term injury, and can replace someone in January.

If Barcola comes, someone needs to miss out on UCL.
If Camara also comes, then another misses out.

The list includes Endo and Tsikikas.
They could miss out, but then what happens when Ekitike comes back?

27 Aug 2026 16:03:10
Nice one, Robbo, good to see you back mate.

27 Aug 2026 16:12:50
Boss news. Midfield still our biggest problem in my opinion. Ta lad.

27 Aug 2026 16:20:06
Ron, isn’t it a nice problem to have? And, way above our pay grade?

I will be happy to see Iraola having to decide who to leave out from Barcola, Ekitike, Endo and Tsimikas... Possibly Camara too.

What a transformation from the general doom mongering of 24 hours ago. Is Hughes still at the wheel?

Plus players may get injured.
