What a strange world we live in watching Utd play and hoping they win.

18 Apr 2026 22:42:33
Did you ? never ever.

19 Apr 2026 08:41:47
Why were you hoping for a United win? A draw would have been perfect.

18 Apr 2026 10:52:31
I thought Gakpo may have been up for sale, apart from the obvious he's 1 of only a few salable asset. We already beed 2 quick wingers which can also play across both sides and now through the middle due to Ekitike injury. Ess they think there an older player who can do a job on a free? But not sure now as more work to do unless they think they can get another attacker on the cheap and a top infer comes in from say Bayern!?

Curtis and Maca need to go (I think Curtis dies for his own career) but outside that? Unless they don't progress with slob contract and 100m plus come in...

I said last summer our squad was light and no real pace going forward...causes all sorts issues. Even think pace outside will help Wirtz and stop teams bring able to send alot of players forward on set peaces as well as general play knowing they can get back.

Few youngsters and possible 3 1st teamers (not including frees) plus Cheisa. Gomes for nominal fees.

Another 5 tob7 players again.

I think slot stays due to the squad he was given and circumstances.

Not my choice but think that's there thinking.

Scarily, it does look like we'll have to do 6-8 deals this summer.

Two wingers, a versatile forward, two midfielders, a RB and possibly GK if one of Alisson or Marma are sold and another CB, if Ibou doesn't renew.

My current (changes weekly) shopping list is: Risser (GK), A.Gray (RB/DM), Wharton (CM), L.Camara (CM), M.Mane (AM/LW), Y.Diomande (RW/LW) and A.Gordon (RW/LW).

I'd flip Marmar, Macca, Gakpo, Frimpong and even Gravy if someone offered good money.

Would try to keep Curtis, but it's up to him in the end.

An alternative to Lamine Camara would be Joao Gomes. Probably a similar price.

Gray, Wharton, Mane and Gordon would increase our HG number.

Camara/Gomes, Kayode, Diomande and Gordon would add more speed and physicality.

Gray would give us someone who can start at RB, invert into midfield comfortably and like Fabinho did, eventually convert into a DM in the future.

18 Apr 2026 21:15:46
I just went back to review the team and on paper we have a good quantity for all positions (not considering injuries), just that we don't have the quality (at least this season).

I feel that we are going to lose the following players: Gomez, Salah, Robertson, Konate, Chiesa, Elliot, Jones and Macca.

Given those leaving, we should buy at least 6 players, not counting Jacquet.

The positions would be 1 RB, 1 CB (I would prefer 2), 2 CM, 1 RW and 1 Forward that could rotate in 3 positions. Who those names are, I don't know, and it would depend on who the manager is, but we need 6 to 8 players despite the profiles being different depending on the manager.

19 Apr 2026 09:30:44
Gordon? Physicality? He's as soft as diarrhoea him. Goes to ground at any opportunity he has.

17 Apr 2026 20:37:38
What are the chances of slot going if we get beat convincingly against Everton this Sunday as that would definitely turn the supporters against him…?

Agree1

17 Apr 2026 21:51:20
The season's over in 5 weeks. No one would even want to come in as interim now, it's a no win situation.

18 Apr 2026 06:06:33
Anyone think Will Wright could be ready to step up to First Team next season and bang some goals in for us?

18 Apr 2026 07:47:49
I wouldn't have thought so from the bits I've seen la, still young and developing. There are always the cup games, though, so maybe a chance off the bench in those.

18 Apr 2026 22:23:36
And Conference League games.

17 Apr 2026 18:27:33
So I have a question for those more knowledgeable than I...

So let's say Slot stays...
Lots of posts about him being given 4 transfer windows to mould the team into his own setup.

Given the season we have just had, and the style that he insists on playing, which players, or what type of players will he be wanting to buy, in order to make this team his?

17 Apr 2026 18:40:36
Two wingers who can beat a man and a Mf who can get around the pitch and is quicker than Macca. After that, a Rb who can stay fit and a real partner for Virg.

17 Apr 2026 19:08:09
By the sound of it, he's very much looking for players who he's worked with before, Minteh, Senesi & Geertruida. He's going full Bodgers.

17 Apr 2026 19:17:44
If Konate signs, do we still go for Senesi? Are we going to have 5 CB's? That used to be Nat's job and he never got a minute.

18 Apr 2026 01:18:57
Dutch or former Eredivise players no doubt.

18 Apr 2026 05:00:49
Could give Slot prime Mane and Salah, and he'll have them glued to the wing passing inside and backwards.

18 Apr 2026 06:57:52
I don't understand the whole 2 wingers thing... Slot-Ball is based on a very slow build up, so what good are two fast wingers who can beat a man if we don't get the ball to them quickly?

The CB is going to be interesting... 60/70 million for a youngster to not be 1st choice?

I would have assumed that VVD and Jacquet would be the CB pairing next season... then again, we know how much Slot trusts the youngsters.

Would love a good old destroyer in CM...

but the way we are so open in the middle, would that type of player even be effective?

And this is where I'm very confused... we have 2 very good wing backs at the club, but we don't use a system that allows wing backs to thrive. So what do we do with them?

So whatever system Slot wants to utilize, let's just hope he gets the players for that system, and doesn't resort to another season of square plugs in triangular holes.

18 Apr 2026 09:34:21
Wouldn't mind Givairo Read or Kees Smit, Chewy.

19 Apr 2026 10:39:38
I'd take a punt on Smit, alright, could be a player there. Don't know much about Read outside of the fact that Bayern were interested up until he missed half the season with a recurring hamstring injury. That's the last thing we need.

17 Apr 2026 18:12:41
You think we'd be fitter n better, if Slot just moved the training to Holland n then they just fly over for games?

Agree11

17 Apr 2026 22:52:23
Genius. ?

17 Apr 2026 13:14:02
The entire defense and goalkeepers have soo many questions mark. Who's the future for the next 3-5 years? I certainly can't name one player, which is shocking. Kerkez has been underwhelming but his effort at least has been top notch.

Every other player is questionable.
Virg should have left this summer but we're soo short at the back and need too many players that he'll stay. Just because Konate has been awful does not deter from what Virg is now at 35.

Agree0

17 Apr 2026 14:32:16
I think Kerkez has the capacity to improve. As you said, he gets an A for effort, great engine, phenomenal work rate, he's just a little young and scatterbrained, for want of a better word, but that can be resolved with experience. Also, doesn't help that he spends most of his time sharing that side of the pitch with Gakpo, who has all the awareness of a barstool. As poor as Konate's been, I hope he resigns for the simple fact that we have a lot of work to do this summer.

Hopefully Leoni and Jaquet can break into the side in a reasonable capacity and show they have what it takes.

Conservatively speaking, I expect Konate to extend, Virgil to stay and for the club not to pursue a first team/starting CB until next Summer.

If Slot does stay, though, all of the above could be very much up in the air.

17 Apr 2026 14:34:16
That's such a negative outlook.

At GK we have Jaros (23), Pecsi (21) and Mama (24). Jaros is extremely highly rated. Pecsi was a golden boy nominee. Mama is still young for a keeper and is highly rated across Europe.

At RB we have Bradley (22), Frimpong (25) and Stephenson (22). Bradley not that long ago everyone here was saying is better than Trent; out of sight out of mind I guess. Frimpong is one of the best wing backs in Europe, he's just been unfortunate with his hamstrings this year, but this is an anomaly in his career; he's never been injury prone. Stephenson went to Scotland and has not only cemented his place in the team, he's even been made captain; that is some feat for a 22 year old loanee and speaks volumes about the lad and his character.

At CB we have Leoni (19) and Jacquet (20) who are statistically 2 of the highest performing CB's of their age range in Europe. They cost a combined £95m which should tell you everything you need to know about how highly the club rates them. We've also invested in so many highly sought after academy CB's; Mor Talla Ndiaye (18), Noah Adekoya (19), Ifeanyi Ndukwe (17). We've got so much young CB talent now it's almost bordering on ridiculous.

At LB we have Kerkez (22), Beck (23), Chambers (21) and Scanlon (21). Kerkez was PFA team of the year LB last season and is in my opinion the best young LB in Europe so give the lad a bloody chance; people judge him like he's in his late 20's but he's still a kid and I'll hedge my bets he makes over 300 appearances for Liverpool such is his great potential. Beck is also a very good young LB who was flying at Blackburn before an unfortunate injury. Chambers has been on fire for Charlton in the second half of this season playing as a wing back. Scanlon has just made his comeback from a hamstring injury on loan at Cardiff but he's also highly thought of at the club.

I honestly don't get our fanbase. Such drama queens at times. Acting like we've got nothing for the future when we've literally assembled a cast of unbelievable talent. We just need the manager to have the balls to utilise them or play them to their strengths.

Just purely on Mama (£30m), Frimpong (£30m), Leoni (£35m), Jacquet (£60m) and Kerkez (£40m) the club has invested £195m on a back line all aged 19-25 years old; yet we've got people saying there is nobody to play in defence for the next 3-5 years? Absolute nonsense. Go cry in private, don't bring this entitled rubbish to a public space. Most Premier League managers would rip your arm off for that £195m defence all under 25 years old.

17 Apr 2026 15:20:49
Been wondering how Chambers has been getting on at Charlton MK. Good to hear he's doing well, as there's not much info on him. Such potential, but for injuries would probably be around the 1st team by now.

17 Apr 2026 15:23:10
Great perspective, I always enjoy your posts, MK.

17 Apr 2026 15:54:18
MK, Georgi is not even close to Ali's level, his decision making is questionable and his ability with the ball at his feet is poor. Jaros just did his ACL and Pesci is only a kid with no first team experience.

I really like Bradley, I think he has great potential, but is riddled with injury. I don't even know what position Frimpong is meant to be playing, either way he's spent more time on the physio table than the pitch, and I also don't think he's good enough, and many would agree. Neither are reliable options, and you can't seriously suggest that after the season we've just had where Dom has been our best RB that we should be relying on either of them?

Leoni's coming back from an ACL, so there's no telling how that's going to go. Jacquet, although very promising, is only 20 years old, and making the move from Rennes to Liverpool is a huge step up, not to mention he's also coming back from shoulder surgery that will have seen him sidelined for 4/5 months. Both players have great potential, and I do have high hopes for them, but they are both returning from injury, very young and unproven in the prem right now.

I'm happy with Kerkez at LB, his work rate is fantastic, and I think a little more experience will see him settle into a better rhythm this year and bring some consistency to his game. Beck, Chambers and Scanlon are all on loan in the lower leagues, have had terrible injury concerns, have sweet f all first team experience at this level, and I don't expect that to change if Slot is at the helm next season. Beck was on loan at Derby but suffered a hamstring tear, had surgery, never played a single game for them, and his loan deal was terminated in January. The hamstring issues are recurring and began in Feb of last year, so it doesn't look good for him. Scanlon is barely getting a look in at Cardiff after having spent a full year out with a hamstring tear. Chambers, the most promising of the 3, has done well this year, started 14 games for Charlton at LM, but has also spent around 11 months sidelined across the last 2 seasons with a recurring stress fracture.

You can't possibly read all this and tell me people are being dramatic when they express their concern for the relative positions.

17 Apr 2026 15:56:26
I admire your positivity, MK. I just don't share it when it comes to a few of the players you mention.

It wasn't everyone who jumped on the Bradley bandwagon; I didn't. Added to the fact he's made of crisps, I'm just not convinced about him.

Kerkez may go on to have a career with us, once he's ironed out the rough edges.

Regards to Frimpong. "One of the best wing-backs in Europe?" Really? One, I disagree with that, and 2, we don't play with wing-backs.

Regards to Stephenson, forgive me, I can't get excited about someone who's been on loan at Barrow and Dundee United, even if he is captain. He may go onto be the next Roberto Carlos, but the jury is still out.

I'm looking forward to seeing Leoni and Jacquet, whether that will be as a pairing next season.

We will have to wait and see.

I won't prattle on about the other outfield players you mention, mainly because I don't have the knowledge that you do regards to them. I hope I'm proved wrong, but I wager not one of them will play more than 30 games for us. The older I get, the more cynical I become. You've got this to come, MK!

On to keepers. The young ones you mention, you base your enthusiasm on them being highly rated etc. Have you seen them? Mama came to us with a great reputation, and, up till now, he hasn't convinced me he can be a long term replacement for Alisson.

Like I say, MK, I admire your enthusiasm regards to our young talent. However, at this moment in time, I just don't share it.

17 Apr 2026 17:38:28
If we fast forward to the start of the '27 season and the back four is Kerkez, Leoni, Jacquet, Bradley then we are set for years. This season has been disrupted for so many different reasons it would be impossible to properly answer right now. GK is a concern, but isn't it almost always the case, when someone as good as Ali eventually leaves any club, they are very hard to replace.

As mentioned above, we have also been adding young CB's and have two other GK's with potential. Time will tell, as they say.

17 Apr 2026 17:55:19
No. 8, "set for years" if they all prove to be on the level and if nobody gets injured again. Currently, out of those 4, only Kerkez is actually fit. Bradley is very likely to pick up another injury given his history, and we can only wait and see what happens with Leoni.

There's a long way to go before we can be confident that will be our back 4 for the future.

17 Apr 2026 18:15:33
That's my point, Chewy, if that's the back 4 a year and a bit from now then everything has worked out.

17 Apr 2026 18:53:27
Sounds good, alright, No.8. And, on paper, looks like a good back four. Although, admittedly, I've never seen Jaquet play. ?

19 Apr 2026 10:43:39
No. 8, I misread that one, mate, thought you meant fast-forward to the start of next season.

17 Apr 2026 07:40:22
I think it's safe to say no information shared is 100%.

It all feels very chaotic as a fan and very worrying as let's face it that's what us fans do.

Slot stays, slot goes, we need this player and that player, Rio is going on on loan but we need wingers.

Whatever the plan is, as much as Hughes, slot and Edwards have seemed to get this all wrong... The only hope is they have a plan and intend to fix what's gone wrong.

I firmly beleive slot didn't get what he wanted last summer, not totally and the worrying issue is, his inept ability to get them ticking, maybe that's fitness, injuries, personal.

Everything is fairly guess work.

The team lacks what it lacks and it's very obvious what's required next season. Like I said they are not stupid men and will have a plan we can only hope it's a good one and executed.

There is a good base and some great prospects in the market. This season is a hit and hope because slot hasn't looked like fixing any issues that have arisen this season.

I'm not having slot has picked the ins fully and due to that is getting some grace maybe the model has changed as they feel Klopp had to much power. Something isn't right!

17 Apr 2026 11:41:05
As much as Slot is at fault for a lot of things, he has been let down by poor recruitment. Ekitike and Isak are both much better than Nunez and Jota, but not when it comes to pressing and off the ball work. Same with Diaz. We needed two wingers, which I hope is rectified in the summer.

16 Apr 2026 20:06:16
We should be looking within the Prem for midfielders in the summer. The following is a list of talent we should be looking at to replace Jones, Endo and Macca.

Noah Sadiki 21
Lewis Miley 19
Alex Scott 22
Lucas Bergvall 20
Archie Gray 20
Adam Wharton 22
Andre 24
Mateus Fernandes 21
Joao Gomes 25
All attainable except perhaps Miley.

Agree0

16 Apr 2026 20:32:17
And Anderson, if we can convince him. Don't know, unless you try.

16 Apr 2026 20:33:39
Can see Alex Scott happening with Hughes here. Think they'll go for Archie Gray too.

16 Apr 2026 22:37:22
If they don't get a proper defensive midfielder again then it's another season of failure incoming.

16 Apr 2026 22:38:21
Scott is a good player, but is he going to improve our midfield? I am not sure he will.
Also, why don't we go back and get Nico Williams back? He is on fire at the moment and better right back than Frimpong.
YNWA.

16 Apr 2026 23:00:48
The time for that was before he signed an extension at Forest, Albey.

17 Apr 2026 15:37:56
Hey Florian, my friend, contracts are only there to secure a large transfer fee. They really are meaningless, just security for the club.
YNWA.

17 Apr 2026 18:54:27
I get that, Albey. Just can't see the club paying a big fee for Neco, that's all.

16 Apr 2026 16:13:27
@jonnyno6… I’m pretty sure the window cleaner said otherwise about slot… So I’ll wait & see who’s ITK.
