It's not.

You can Google "free AI image checker" and put images through it to make sure they're real. There's a bunch of free ones.

Ahh well. 🤷‍♂️

Is that the official club photo?
Not even allowed in the same room, he had to take the photo from out in the corridor, shouting 'duck down' as he snapped over some bloke's shoulder.

Can tell it's not real, he doesn't have Mbaye under his armpit as the double swoop.

1

21 Aug 2026 19:55:09.
If we're seeking any other Premier League player, they're all ready to bend us over.

3

21 Aug 2026 20:05:59
And you think, for example, Spurs have not had their pants pulled down with the prices they are paying? Or City paying £116m for Anderson?

Or is it all about Liverpool and how every other team hates us with a passion, and are ganging up to screw us over only at every opportunity?

Or maybe prices are going up specifically in the EPL due to TV money?

I'll wait.

Infamy! Infamy!
They've all got it infamy!

21 Aug 2026 20:12:25
The Premier League clubs are the ones guilty of inflating the market and now they are being charged a king's ransom to do business. We are just as guilty of causing these stupid figures as anyone else. Interesting that clubs in Italy and Spain can still pick up bargains.

1

21 Aug 2026 20:13:16
Zedd,
Don't act silly. Spurs are spending and spending with a suspicious City deal.
As for City. Rice went for 100 million. Anderson is an excellent English player. 116 for the next decade seems about decent in today's market.

Anderson has proven what he is.
Minteh is average, not match fit until about December and not a player many clubs will lose sleep over. A very very poor possible signing.

Dry your eyes, lad, it's happening.

1

21 Aug 2026 20:26:46
I would certainly have taken Anderson for £116 million. 👍

3

21 Aug 2026 20:38:16
Wow! You've got a lot of money, Tir.

Out of interest, what would you have done with him?

2

21 Aug 2026 20:39:18
To be fair, TIF, me too. I'm not worried about the fees we pay, it's just whether the players improve the team.

I trust the owners not to bankrupt us or make us subject to PSR scrutiny as pounds and pence don't score goals.

A shame he wanted City!

1

21 Aug 2026 20:49:11
Hey, @Rigsby, do you 'Miss Jones' now he's gone to Inter?

2

21 Aug 2026 20:59:34
Money whatevs. 60m 70m 80m whatevs. Buying injured players?! Wtf evs. I like Minteh £65m plus add ons fair play...but we're buying an injured player...medical...whatevs...money whatevs...league...wtf evs. See you in November, Mints.

I think Minteh will do v well for us, a real hard working player at the top of the pitch, and good delivery from wide areas. Isak thrived with that type of player in Murphy at Newcastle.

Maybe doesn't score enough, but I don't think that will be his primary role for us. Good age and good prem experience.
I don't know what story is on his injury, that's the only worry for me.

21 Aug 2026 21:19:32
My God, Willo the Wisp.
Funnily enough I've already done a Kenny Williams impression on here tonight.
Seriously though, I won't Miss Jones. If anything, I'd have gotten Evil Edna to turn him into a tree if he stayed here.

1

21 Aug 2026 22:01:03
Lol, I almost heard Rigsy saying "Myyy Godd" in his usual way there. Yeah, I am a Williams, but now stop messin' about!

21 Aug 2026 19:49:07
Eds and itk's now we are hopefully wrapping up the Barcola deal is there midfielders we are going to put our focus on?
Still fell like we are light in that department, especially a holding defensive type

Thanks

Apparently we're looking Gavi, who's a serious red flag in terms of injuries and coming to a far more physical league.
If we wanted Wharton, we've most likely left it far too late.
The team needed a top RW and at least 1 midfielder. We're now looking at this stage to overpay for an extremely average injured Minteh.

Piss take window.
I'd rather we spent nothing now. Let Hughes f*** off and Andoni work with what we have. You're not improving this squad, wasting serious finances on average and/or both injured players.

1

21 Aug 2026 21:23:44
Well said, Funky.
The same goes for the midfielder off of Wolves.
Andre has a red flag.....

Chian Ching's is blue.
Showing yer age, lad!

Games Without Front Ears with the delightful Kate Bush on backing vocals, Flash.
Great lyrics in that song. Peter Gabriel is/was a great lyricist.

If we get Minteh and Barcola in the door I’m still of the opinion that Gakpo must stay until at least Jan and preferably till the end of the season. We need to be moving on players like Elliott and Chiesa, not players that have a strong roll in the starting 11. If we sell Gakpo we are shafting AI before he even gets started.

4

21 Aug 2026 20:04:19
Well, interestingly, Gakpo is a far better player than Minteh and we're open to selling Gakpo. Crazy.

3

21 Aug 2026 20:06:20
Season has officially kicked off, so I'm gonna be proper positive now as per.

I've had to remind myself how rich we are now, and can afford to blast £70m on injured players.

It's defo gonna take some time to get used to this. 😂

Even if Minteh turns out rubbish, we can just replace him in January anyway. Bezos Baby. Up the Reds.

3

21 Aug 2026 20:07:13
Couldn't agree more. Just hope we get Mbaye instead of Minteh. Seems like in his brief playing time he knows where the goal is.

1

21 Aug 2026 21:04:05
Yeah, if an injured Minteh is £70m, we shouldn't take anything less than £90m for Gakpo.

If Gakpo goes to Spurs, they'll compete with us for top 4. Few more goals is literally all Spurs need now, and Gakpo will give them that.

RMC Sports said PSG want €70m for Mbaye.

What's worse, €70m for Mbaye or €70m for Minteh?

1

21 Aug 2026 19:10:09
Liverpool will go for Minteh.

Prem proven, you know what you're getting and can improve.

Not a lot of rw out there for what Liverpool want.

3

21 Aug 2026 19:12:08
Brighton want £70m not EUR70m, so I'd be going for Mbaye all day long.

7

21 Aug 2026 19:12:10
The money is insane. I haven't gotten my head around the inflated prices this summer.

But if they are priced the same, I'm taking Minteh. You know Minteh can cut it in the Premier League, and I think Minteh has a high ceiling.

Mbaye is more of an unknown.

Minteh is also much quicker and stronger.

But Mbaye is also a talent. He should just be cheaper than Minteh at this stage.

I still think a Minteh Isak Barcola front 3 is a good way to go.

The money is just bananas. I've given up on thinking about that.

4

21 Aug 2026 19:29:23
Why is Mbaye all of a sudden worth €70m?

Didn't Leverkusen agree with PSG on something closer to €50m just before we came in?

3

21 Aug 2026 19:31:21
How is Minteh prem proven? What has he actually proven? That he can run without the ball, pretty low bar.

Mbaye all day. He has shown he is far more talented than Minteh. For those that think he is overpriced, how much do you think Rio is worth?

3

21 Aug 2026 19:36:11
No way should we be paying EUR70m for Mbaye!!

1

21 Aug 2026 19:39:44
@Gregarious, I believe that is why we looked at alternatives - because PSG expected us to pay more than Leverkusen. Now, it seems that we are willing to pay a lot more for a backup option just to prove a point.

0

21 Aug 2026 19:41:01
PSG might have included a buyback clause when Leverkusen was interested in signing him.

21 Aug 2026 19:45:16
Jesus Christ, this shows how much I watch and care for other teams. I genuinely thought Minteh was the Japanese international lad at Brighton, but that's Mitoma.

I even watched his highlight reel on YouTube last night 🤦🏻‍♂️.

4

21 Aug 2026 19:51:05
We need a RW.
Teams know this.
Can ask for whatever they want now.
Should have been well sorted by now, not 2 days before season starts for us.

1

21 Aug 2026 19:59:19
JK23, same here. I was convinced it was Mitoma until I saw the clip and was like ohhhh.

1

21 Aug 2026 20:59:56
For a football site, people don't half spend a lot of time talking about money, and it's funny because most of us don't have a clue about how the financing of deals for football players works.

0

21 Aug 2026 18:48:08.
Minteh was not a smokescreen then! A younger and faster Jacob Murphy type to facilitate Isak. As others are saying, I think £60 is a fair price! Unfortunately, Liverpool want the kid so will go higher!

This is the problem with doing big deals in the last 10 days of the transfer window!

0

21 Aug 2026 19:08:11
Do you think he would have been cheaper in June? I think he would have cost exactly the same amount.

3

21 Aug 2026 19:22:56
He would have probably been cheaper in January during the January sales.

1

21 Aug 2026 19:26:22
What I meant, @TheFifthElement, is at this stage of the window you need to choose an option and go for it! LFC have already pivoted at least once.

0

21 Aug 2026 21:02:09
At least once, eh? Disgraceful.

0

21 Aug 2026 18:46:39
I’ve got a bad feeling that all this Barcola talk is a smokescreen. No way would we be bidding north of £60m for Minteh while trying to negotiate with PSG... This is Mbappe & Bellingham all over again!!

1

21 Aug 2026 19:15:07
What are you on about? It's 2 completely separate deals - one LW and one RW. Minteh is the alternative to Mbaye and has no impact on the Barcola negotiations.

2

21 Aug 2026 20:16:38
Aye, I remember saying that we wouldn't pay what we did for Ekitike and then break the British transfer record for Isak.
Finances, eh?

1

21 Aug 2026 18:43:19
Hi Ed's and ITKs,

Please tell me we are not genuinely not in for Yankuba
Minteh. wow desperatteeeee

2

21 Aug 2026 21:04:03
Correct, we are not not in for him.

1

21 Aug 2026 21:47:28
I can't help thinking of the Missile Crisis when I read the name Yankuba.
Bay of Pigs? I hope Brighton are not trying to Fidel us.
It'll reach DEFCON2 on here if we increase our last two bids.
Oooh, I've gone all 007. Or is it Fornax?

Anyway, as a signing Yankuba would be Mint, eh?
Kennedy, Khrushchev, jumpers for goalposts.
Isn't it? Hmmm?
