So in a perfect world- who would you guys prefer? Isak or alvarez?
15 Jun 2025 22:16:32
Isak for me but I would not be disappointed with Alvarez either.
15 Jun 2025 22:32:25
footballing-wise - alvarez fits how we play like a glove.
15 Jun 2025 22:41:39
I just can’t decide. Ed1? Tell me who I should want more? It would make my worries so much easier.
{Ed001's Note - it's an either or really. They are both excellent and either would be great but for very different reasons. Flip a coin.}
15 Jun 2025 23:12:16
Isak for me. I hope I'm wrong, but I think there's a chance if we can't get what we really want this summer, regards to a striker, we may wait till next summer.
15 Jun 2025 23:28:34
I like Isak slightly better for that X factor but if I had the choice, I'd probably go for Alvarez because I'd trust him staying fit more than Isak.
15 Jun 2025 23:46:54
Think with the way were letting Salah kinda just stay up the pitch and concentrate on attack Alvarez might be the better choice. Not that i don't think isak is super but if a team aren't putting in the graft it doesn't matter how good they are they won't win anything, just look at PSG this year.
16 Jun 2025 00:02:28
Alvarez for me. Isak is a great player but I think Alvarez has a bit more graft about him.
16 Jun 2025 00:33:27
Florian - yup that's a good shout. In that respect it might make it worthwhile keeping Nunez around lol.
16 Jun 2025 00:36:07
No, no, no, ed1. Come on mate. Take a min. If you had to choose- I think many of us are flip a coin- but I would really love to hear your expertise. For me- I’d love both and I love the possibility that we are looking at them- but I fear isak injuries. I just feel gut feeling- alvarez could do the job. And who knows how great he could become at a club that would adore and love him.
{Ed001's Note - if I had to pick one based purely on their attributes and style of play, it would be Alvarez.}
16 Jun 2025 01:15:30
I'd go with Isak but only because I've seen him play plenty - I've not really seen much of Alvarez to comment.
16 Jun 2025 02:25:13
Is Flipa Coin a realistic target?
16 Jun 2025 00:49:04
Me too ed1. Because you told me to.
{Ed001's Note - now that is done, did you deposit the million dollars in my bank account like I told you to?}
16 Jun 2025 03:03:35
Alvarez. He is a better all around fit for the way we play.
16 Jun 2025 03:12:54
It would be Alvarez. As Florian said, having a striker that can also press will help hugely. A lineup of Alisson - Frimpong / Bradley, Konaté, Van Dijk, Kerkez - Grav, McAllister, Wirtz - Salah, Alvarez, Gakpo / Diaz has a better balance than having Isak. That is, obviously, if that is the way Slot wants to play next season.
16 Jun 2025 07:32:37
I remember Ed2 spotting Alvarez and Kulesevski as big talents before either came to the Prem.
16 Jun 2025 04:21:54
Was reading that Alvarez would be open to moving back to the UK but not after one year.
If we are in any kind of convo with him and felt like we could get him in 2026, then I would hold fire until then.
16 Jun 2025 05:16:32
Should be Alvarez.
Isak and Salah is too much for the team to carry.
Not seen much of Alvarez but still would go with him.
16 Jun 2025 05:51:20
Isak is PL proven and a standout striker in today’s world where there are very limited WC strikers (can’t believe it was just 2 decades ago we had Rooney, Ruud, Henry, Owen, Drogba, Zalatan, Raul, Ronaldo, Adriano, Anelka, Crespo, Larsson, Vieri, Torres, David Villa, Klose, Shevchenko, Et’o and more! Now I can’t even name 10 top class CF), but injuries do concern.
Alvarez has the class and graft and maybe just to stick it to City after they poached our former backroom staff that we take one of their former and make him into a great star with us.
Either is fine with me!
16 Jun 2025 06:55:31
. and if we actually didn't buy a striker? didn't need one? Keep our powder dry and work with what we've got? Thoughts?
16 Jun 2025 07:13:58
Thunderbird 2.
Flipa Coin is a now retired dolphin who had a bad gambling problem!
16 Jun 2025 07:21:35
@Thunderbird2 - I think it's 50/ 50 mate.
16 Jun 2025 08:27:01
Alvarez all day long for our style. Better movement and works a lot harder. And less injuries.
But why would they want to swap him for Nunez and possible Robertson?
16 Jun 2025 07:57:26
Ed01 is your comment code for Alvarez is signed and on his way ? is that how Monday morning starts. Transfer window isn't open and it's bananas. Even I commented there is no way Alvarez would join us due to his hatred of rain, fish and chips and so on. Pondering on the chances now. What do the desperate scousewives have to say.
