Vvd seems done and overworked. Salah is exhausted. Should have ended salah and vvd last year.
As it stands they won't be here/ ready for premier league next year and it will be another transitional year for us.
While slot is clueless, lack of leadership on pitch is also a big reason we are so hopeless in games. As soon as opposition scores its over for us. Shoulders drop and an eerie feeling consumes the players and fans.
I know tactics are abysmal but the team is far too good to play like this.
If this was designed to be transitional year we should have not extended vvd and salah and added their replacements as we had the money.
As it stands we have no replacements, both have been largely ineffective and they haven’t been able to showcase any sort of leadership on the pitch which is quite strange.
All in all a very dire situation for the club as a whole. It will get tougher next year when new rules kick in. I don't see us turning any profit this year and have record losses on the book. Will def affect the spending next season.

I don’t think VV D is completely done yet, the setup of the team is not helping him.
25 Nov 2025 13:35:15
I don't worry about Virgil, he is too good of a player and even when he is a 6 out of 10 he still does an important job for the team. Mo can get back to his best if the other parts around him are in place and functional, the only question I have is whether we should be so reliant on him anymore when relying on him is so contradictory to the long term plan we have with the new players.
I want to see the Liverpool of the future begin to manifest itself on the pitch, and not this weird version stuck between the past and the future.
25 Nov 2025 13:43:23
Dire situation? We are current Premiership champions, for only the second time in 30 yrs, bought in 2 players considered world class, and a third (Eki) who has the potential to join them, replacing a couple of players who had to/ wanted to leave, and a popular team mate who passed away.
I have been an LFC fan since the early 70’s, like a lot of real fans, we know what a dire situation is, and sadly there have been too many, this isn’t one of them.
Hindsight is 20:20, but who thought VVD and Salah should have been replaced after the season they had? , and knowing that Darwin had to go, Diaz wanted to go, Diogo couldn’t stay fit, TAA was leaving, Robbo had a poor season, Konate has been a liability for years, you think LFC should have dumped their two best players?
25 Nov 2025 12:12:02
Guehi and Semenyo. Job done.
25 Nov 2025 12:17:47
Jeez, I knew things weren't great but never thought it'd be this bad. we'll be in administration next going by that.
25 Nov 2025 12:43:19
Who would we have replaced both VVD and Salah with? Nobody could have predicted the drop off, i expect contracts were given expecting at least one more year at their best and having a couple of older heads to help bed the new lads in.
It will be an interesting few months to say the least.
Something has to change on the pitch that is without question, ultimately the buck stops with Slot and what happens in training.
If players are not performing he shouldn't hesitate to drop them when alternatives are on the bench.
25 Nov 2025 13:05:42
Not to throw any doubt on the post above but are we sure there will be record losses? Seems a lot of doom and gloom without actually taking a step back and considering that whilst the results on the pitch are poor, financially Liverpool are in a good space.
The predictions for the next accounting period (31 May 2025) are that of optimism. The relevance of playing in the UCL, new commercial deals, a full season of the Anfield Road stand, Adidas kit deal, strong broadcast revenue. I would expect turnover to balloon to over £700mil.
Seems unlikely that administrative costs would significantly change, although wages will rise with bonuses being paid out for good performance in the season. Let's see.
Not sure where those significant losses will come from.
25 Nov 2025 14:55:08
Well the club should save a considerable amount of money from the "bonuses being paid out for good performance in the season".
25 Nov 2025 14:30:37
The issue isn’t the players - it’s Slot. Salah and VVD don’t just go from world class to what we’re seeing now overnight. They still have plenty to offer, and I can easily see them seeing out their contracts.
What I can’t understand is why some people are still pointing fingers at one or two players when the entire team is abysmal at the moment. Many people here are forgetting the quality of players we have.
Slot is to blame - the sooner we get rid the better. We can't be doing any worse can we? we're losing every game.
25 Nov 2025 15:06:03
Shankly, Paisley, Fagan and Moran would turn in their graves at supporters banging on about being “current champions”.
That was last season, means absolutely nothing this season.
25 Nov 2025 15:45:04
2-3 players out of form fine, but so many good players playing so poorly is not just a bad coincidence.
25 Nov 2025 15:57:59
Anyone taking this poster...
{Ed033's Note - Hi Thunderbird 2 - can you stop telling people what they should think and stop putting other posters down please.
25 Nov 2025 16:09:30
None of you lot will be moaning next season when 2 million Die Hard Reds line the streets of Liverpool after pipping Bristol City to the Sky Bet Championship Title ??.
25 Nov 2025 16:24:56
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, pre summer and the contracts running out. We all wanted Salah to stay and no one expected the outlay we had. If we did, I think we would have been more comfortable seeing Salah leave.
However, this page would have melted down if Salah had gone as the owners would have been accused off all sorts.
I am very much of the opinion that the players bought are for a system that doesn't work with Salah so you have an unbalanced squad. He has been unbelievable for us but probably time to give him a send off and move on to the next gen.
He isn't the only problem, but part of the many issues. Ones I could probably right an essay about!
Also, I disagree with mentality in regards to going behind. We lost 2 goal leads at the start of the season and roared back. The confidence is through the floor, which weirdly tends to happen to us after a sustained period of winning. Lose once and it crumbles, look at that period under klopps when we lost at home for the first time in ages then had 6 on the bounce. The mentality issue seems to be more how we deal with a loss, you should be able to dust yourself down and crack on, we seem to prefer full crisis before getting back to sustained winning ways.
This is a team that is in a rut and needs to play there way out of it. But I do think we are heading towards a managerial change unless Slot is willing to adapt. I have full confidence we can get back on the right path when all said and done, as this is the best squad I think we have ever had. Incl under Klopp.
25 Nov 2025 16:39:06
I’ll be there lfc8 mate.
25 Nov 2025 16:58:09
We should rename these pages to . "If I want your opinion, I'll give it to you".
25 Nov 2025 17:00:08
Utter garbage you’re spouting Akira. Both were playing at such a high standard only a few months ago. Until Slot has gone I refuse to criticise these players until they’re in a better system. Could they do isolated things better? Of course. But they’re better most still.
25 Nov 2025 18:07:09
But Salah had his best season in years last year UNDER Slot! And as for what Shankly, Paisley, Fagan and Moran thinks its irrelevant, Slot was STILL getting stick while winning the first 5 league games this season that NEVER would have happened in they're day.
25 Nov 2025 18:24:49
Florian his tactics were different last season, he’s opted to change them and he’s not getting the best from Salah and others… it’s that simple.
25 Nov 2025 19:02:41
Salah always plays his best when there's a contract to negotiate. Once signed he drops off. We've seen it time and time again. Club legend and thanks for everything, but it's time to cash in.
25 Nov 2025 22:14:16
What is so hugely different? people were still moaning about slow ponderous football last year when we were winning every week on the way to the title.
26 Nov 2025 03:33:31
@Akira, isn’t the YLFP VVD’s long term replacement? Also, I thought there was talk of Frimpong being a potential replacement / understudy for Salah under the new system the we were / are going to play?
You could argue that the new contracts for both VVD were to enable to maximise their transfer value at the end of this season.
