Am I the only one that thinks that wasn't actually that bad?
Iv always said I worry more about the performance and the style than the result when things get bad, and iv been slating Slot for months now even though we starting winning again.
So it's only fair that I state that IMO we were genuinely much improved today, typical Konate defensive lapse aside, the style was a lot better today. braver play on the ball and in possession, lots of penetrating passes through the middle, shooting when the opportunity comes and taking on the defenders. By far the better team and a far better performance than the reverse fixture we actually won with the late penalty.

Now I'm not saying Slots turned it round or anything, and it shows how bad we've been when I'm taking the positives (IMO anyway), not one bit, and whilst I know it was only Burnley and a bad result, play that game again 99 times and we'd win almost all of them. I'm genuinely quite happy with the signs of the players starting to gel together a bit.
My one criticism would be that there is literally no excuse left in this dimensions timeline for Konate to not be dropped and Slot needs to deal with that. IMO put Gomez in there and we win the game 1-0.

Quite the opposite mate. Thought we played with the handbrake on today.

We don't press
We don't tackle
We don't try and block
We look lacklustre
We dawdle when it's time to shoot hence why so many get blocked
We look like we lack ambition
We have no intensity on the ball and even less off the ball.

Tough tough watch that today. Burnley were awful as well.

Not seen that many people leave Anfield before the final whistle in a long time.

17 Jan 2026 19:38:56
Its not the worst game of the lot, but its still bad yeah.
Same bad tactics, same weaknesses as before. similar result to many other games this year.

This slow build up is killing us. and having lots of shots, once you've let them gain shape is kind of pointless. we have no goals in midfield anymore. Grav might get a few a season now he's unleashed to expose our own defence.

17 Jan 2026 19:41:24
I actually agree. It was a slightly better performance for around 60 minutes where we seemed to make more use of forward passes and looked slightly more intense. Then it all went back to the same crap after 60 minutes.

17 Jan 2026 19:42:46
It was fine but it's probably the worst team in the league at home. We should be winning that game comfortably. We created lots of chances, they created one and scored but it's the latest in a long line of disappointing results.

3 points against the 3 promoted teams at home, 5 wins in the last 17 league games. If something doesn't change I see us finishing behind Chelsea and Manchester United.

17 Jan 2026 19:43:35
Just been looking around the forums and seeing the general view I think i'm about to get absolutely pelted!

17 Jan 2026 19:44:00
Im sorry but Slot and his back room staff just aren't good enough. I'm sick of his subs being "like for like". Why can't we change formation, try something different. Burnley knew how we'd play so how is changing one fullback for another make ANY difference? He's been found out a d we need some.

fresh ideas oh a d thank god. konate is. going in the summer.

17 Jan 2026 19:51:46
I thought Kerkez was good today. Frimpong is improving all the time. And Wirtz is starting to look really good. He has released the full backs a little more in recent games and we are improving because of it.

There's still a lack of energy and intensity. Szobo turned back on a number of breaks today which is such an annoying thing to do.
And the attacking is just patience for no reason because when we go for goal eventually it just looks panicky. The passing around is not to open up opportunities. It's just time wasting for us as there's no decent plan to get in behind.

It was a very disappointing result against a very average Burnley side. Maybe you can forgive a performance like that as unlucky in a good season but in a season like this it's just another nail in the coffin for Slot.

Tempo, intensity and energy are still severely lacking.

And never forget, despite the performance looking a little better, it was Burnley we were playing today.

17 Jan 2026 19:56:41
JK, didn't get to Anfield till turned 2:00 so it was too late to meet up. To be fair, I wish coach had turned up 3 hours later and saved me the misery!

Boos, albeit a split second, were telling.

17 Jan 2026 20:09:18
Same old rubbish from my point of view

Nothings changed should've been sacked months ago.

17 Jan 2026 20:15:50
It was fine until we scored. We came out after half time, were slack and let them get a foothold, and then we got more slack until they scored. Then we spent the last 10 scrambling for a goal. We've done it a lot that season.

Feels like we're letting the opposition back into games instead of trying to kill them off.

17 Jan 2026 20:30:39
I thought it was at best ok but in saying that opposition are v poor. We should've won no doubt but we not convincing at all, same as all season. Huff puff, walk about, pass sideways endlessly and never win a 50-50.
It's not liverpool football at all, forget the results there is no passion in it, and a game at anfield without passion is just like a game at any other stadium.

Positives are the signings from summer getting better all the time, thought kerkez and wirtz the 2 best players we had followed by frimpong.

17 Jan 2026 20:32:55
We couldn't best cannon fodder at home. It was awful

Slot should have been gone in October. Get him gone now.

17 Jan 2026 20:32:59
We drew, with 19th placed Burnley on 14 points. There's absolutely no way you can spin that.

17 Jan 2026 20:35:53
No worries Rome mate. I actually went in at 2 and watch the second half of the Manchester derby in the Anfield Road.

I think it's a bit harsh to put all the blame on Konate for their goal. We got away with one literally just before where he got back and almost scored an own goal and from that moment on from our goal kick we looked like we had no confidence.

At one point in the first half we took a short corner and ended up back at Allison.

Also on Szob if he was told to slow down all our own counter attacks then he completed the task expertly.

Wirtz was class and Kerkez had a good game.

Robbo came on and in the space of about 2 mins was at one point Burnley's best player.

17 Jan 2026 20:45:28
Westwood I don't disagree with your sentiment that today's performance was better. In the 1st half we won the ball back quickly, smothered them, tempo was not too bad at all and we of course had chances. 2nd half was a stark contrast for me, intensity fell off a cliff and there was clearly tactical change from Slot at half time to reapply the handbrake and see out the game because he reverted back to keeping Kerkez back and having Gakpo hugging the touchline and doing F all. At a time when we need to put the opposition to the sword Slot choose to hide behind his boring tactics and try see out the result, a fools errand given that we are incapable of keeping a clean sheet even against the most toothless of opposition.

Any positivity about today's performance or maintaining of this unbeaten run is quickly eroded when you remind yourself that we are the current champions at home facing a newly promoted Burnley who are currently placed 19th in the league, oh how the expectations and standards have fallen.

17 Jan 2026 20:48:48
Agree with JK23, I was at the game today, it was a pedestrian performance, Gakpo needs to understand it's not all about him, Kirkez gave up the overlap because glue foot wouldn't pass it, midfield was empty and offer no protection, then there's Konate, great save by Ali, on a positive note Wirtz is some player.

We played well and the passes in and around the box were much better and much more incisive. We do still hesitate when the chance comes which is why the opposition get so many blocks in but at least we were threatening.

We just had a 10 minute spell in the second half when we lost focus and got sloppy passing it out from the back and it culminated in Konate nearly scoring an OG and shortly after that their goal.

It was much improved and had we not seen all of the other games that came before it this season we'd all be saying how on earth have we not won that? It was one of those freak games.

The problem is it's not a freak game because the end result is exactly the same as all that came before it even if the performance was better. We have to start taking our chances or this is what happens.

17 Jan 2026 20:55:43
I thought the 1st half was good Westwood, some lovely football in tight spaces and should have been 2 up or probably more. Ball moved quicker and more movement off tbe ball, trying to get in behind.2nd half had a period where the players got a bit cocky, Burnley sensed it got there 1 shot of the match on target and scored.

Then we woke up and generally controlled the game again. Better for me but its a result business and a draw at home to burnley is not good enough.

17 Jan 2026 21:40:39
One or 2 agreeing with me that the best performers were our new recruits. Hats off to Hughes and Edwards.

Sit back and wait for stick. Do I care? Do I f**k!

17 Jan 2026 22:05:22
Strange game we should've won by 3 or 4 but for poor finishing final balls. I actually thought we looked more positive with the ball. Frimpong did well going forward (albeit he still struggles defensively) offensively beat his man and put in some half decent crosses. Kerkez is finding form and Wirtz was very good although tired out near end of the game. I thought the midfield 3 were awful and didn't improve with changes.

Struggled to track back when we lost possession. Szob tried too had to make amends for the pen miss. Jones in sorry I just don't see him as a starting 11 quality player. Will be interesting to see what slot does when Salah is back. Gapko doesn't deserve to start and Should've been hooked off for Rio much earlier
Robertson was woeful when he came on. Time for a change Slot needs to go.

17 Jan 2026 22:19:59
I actually don't think it matters how we play now, the groundswell of opinion, on this forum, at least, is that the current management team can't do anything right.

From my perspective, I thought we did enough to win fairly comfortably. We played with a bit more purpose than we have for most games this season and a couple of feet either way with a number of the shots and we win about 5 or 6 - 1. As I say though, it doesn't really matter given the mood and perception of this board at least.

17 Jan 2026 22:30:52
Dow-ney i agree 1st half much better. don't think it was handbrake applied 2nd half as much as complacency out of the players which at 1-0 with the season their having is laughable. i just struggle to believe that Slot after watching us dominate the 1st half playing good football against Burnley at home would tell the players to "go easy on that, let's protect our lead".

for a good 10mins before the Burnley goal you could see the cockiness and pulling outa tackles.

17 Jan 2026 22:32:17
Florian and Dundee accepting performances like this. Wow.

17 Jan 2026 22:35:50
Feet either way don't win games. Please stop this nonsense of defending the indefensible.

17 Jan 2026 23:19:04
Terrible fans we are Endo.

18 Jan 2026 00:07:51
No, I'm with you. That was our best, most fluid performance for a while. More good signs of progress. Before you knee jerkers jump all over me, yes I can see where the flaws are. I also see the progress and more of it as each week goes on.

18 Jan 2026 00:31:37
There were no positives to take from that match today. Weak again in midfield, weak again in defence, largely toothless in attack against a team in 19th place who have conceded the second most amount of goals this season. This fabled unbeaten run is a load of bollocks. At this moment Slot is no better than Hodgson.

18 Jan 2026 00:36:36
We are turgid and boring to watch, a team is a direct reflection on the manager coaching them and our currently looks like a blunt knife.

League title was absolutely sensational but it's now time to make a change before it gets any worse.

18 Jan 2026 08:39:40
Faith I won't jump all over you I just have to laugh and pity you when you said there was progress at home against 19th place Burnley. Mind you I suppose it was better than when we played 20th placed Wolves.

18 Jan 2026 12:59:10
We had 32 shots at goal, that's not boring. The fact we only scored once is remarkable. Like I say though, there's no stopping the Slot out juggernaut, and it would be best all around if Slot was given his pay off, a letter of thanks for his effort and a taxi to take him to the airport.
