You know one thing I’ve enjoyed about watching the World Cup?
Not having to listen to Carragher and Neville waffle on with their absolute nonsensical ramblings.
I’m just watching The Open (golf if you weren’t aware), which is on SkySports and they just showed an advert for the Premier League season.
As soon as I heard Carra’s voice my heart sank.
Neville is terrible but I really don’t think I’ve ever disliked a pundit as much as I dislike Carra.
Thick as 2 short planks as me old Ma would say.

Carragher and Neville are awful pundits, and not much better as people. I never watch MNF unless Liverpool are playing, and even in that case, I put it on 1 minute before KO, so they've already handed over to the commentators.
Their takes on tactics and individual performances are consistently as embarrassing as their predictions.
Which is fine if you're just one of the lads down the pub, but I pay close to £100 a month for Sky, Amazon and TNT, so the bare minimum I expect is some decent analysis or god forbid, some entertainment. They offer neither.

Surprisingly, I find Owen's punditry to be superior to Carragher and Neville. Owen at least tries hard and speaks what he believes vs just saying things to instigate noise.

Terrible pundits. I do feel like it's mostly SkySports fault though.
If you can wade through the political bias of Gary Neville, and Carra's over analysis to prove his opinions correct, somewhere in there, you'll often find a football match.

I must pay far less attention to them.
If someone offered me a million pound to quote something Carragher or Neville said before or during a game I'd be none the richer.
On another note, regarding the World Cup I've just seen this Alexis Mac Allister has covered 75.5km so far in the World Cup - more than anyone else.

To be fair the two of them are terrible but it's also fair to say that they're better than pretty much all of their peers, it'd be much worse having to listen to Micah Richards, Burley, Nicol, Keane, Merson, Keown, O'hara, Sherwood, Shearer, Ferdinand etc.
In the States they have to listen to Zlatan and Lalas (possibly the biggest ignoramus and most insufferable bigot in the history of football punditry) all day, imagine how they feel.

Only one thing makes it worse: when Henry is on, I swear that bloke just loves the sound of his own voice.
I used to like Paul Scholes, just for his truthfulness, and he does not like the limelight as much as the likes of Neville, Carragher and Henry.

To be fair, JK, he's played one more game than 38 other teams, but still pretty shocking that he's top of that mini league.
I'm not quite ready to give up on him, despite the fact his antics make it hard to root for him.
Got to give Iraola a chance to work with him.
He's been better than Kone in this tournament, and plenty have been promoting him as a signing.

Rugby, I'm actually a big Macca fan.
I thought he was very good the first 2 seasons but last season it looked like his legs had gone and he spent too much time rolling around on the floor.
Grav was poor last season and excellent the season before, and he's getting lots of credit in the bank whereas Macca and Gakpo aren't.
Whoever the new manager goes for, he will have my support. I'm not expecting instant upturn, so patience is the key.

And then there is the clown, Micah Richards. "Big Meeks", as he likes to call himself. Henry is okay most of the time, but Carragher and Big Meeks are really the pits.
It's all just a reflection of what the producers think of the intelligence level of the viewers. Clearly all 4 of them are following producer instructions.

Pretty sure Macca's fairly high up in terms of pressures, progressive passes, pass completion, etc. too, JK.
It's almost like he's a far better player than he showed last season or something.

You should tune in to our national broadcaster RTE. They provide fantastic coverage not just for football but all sports. Their commentary, presenters, pundits, and analysts are top level. They're free to air their views without retribution and have zero of the showbiz boxxox of those clowns Carragher and Richards et al. We're mega lucky to have this over in God's Own Country!!. ??

LFCDas, I never said he was a bad human. I said they're bad as people; as in their personalities grate on me. Neville is boring, biased, controversial and makes stupid moaning noises when he's on commentary. He's not very well liked outside of Manchester.
On an actual human level, he hasn't ever done much wrong other than be quite rude towards players/managers during his punditry, and he also said people who fly England flags are "angry white men", which went down like a lead balloon.
I don't think that constitutes calling him a bad human, but it certainly adds weight to my view that he's not very personable. He actually does a lot of charity work which I respect, but he still likes to rub that in people's faces on social media and make sure he gets the attention he thinks he deserves. Good human, terrible personality.
You could argue Carragher actually is a bad human, though, seeing as he spits at children.

I find it incredible how much time and energy people put into disliking pundits. If you don't like them, just turn the tv off. No one is forcing you to watch them.

I must say, I like Carra as a pundit too. I didn't agree with his Salah stance last season, but generally I think he is a good pundit. Just not a very classy man, unfortunately.

I find Neville has zero humility.
He was a decent footballer who was lucky to play in some great teams. He won a shed load of medals.
But he thinks he is some kind of politician, property/business mogul and he thinks everyone likes the sound of his voice as much as he does.

The absolute worst pundit is Rooney for the simple fact that he can't utter a full, fluent sentence. The others have their faults in terms of personal behaviour and poor technical analysis, but Rooney is simply impossible to listen to for any length of time.

Scott on Talk is a good pundit, and there's a few good ones who cover the foreign leagues who are worth a listen on Talk.
The TV pundits don't tend to be up to much at all, unfortunately, they're just caricatures of themselves, the Sky TV and ITV lot.
Out of all of them, Ian Wright is ok, I guess. Wayne has improved a bit, but he lacks intelligence, or that's how it comes across anyway, and the least said about Jamie and Gary the better.

Sturridge is hands down the worst pundit on tv. Absolute cringefest. Gives me 'the ick' every time I see him. Neville and Cara are like nails on a chalkboard; there's something about even the tone of their voices that drives me up a wall. Being a bit of a class clown myself, I actually find 'Big Meeks' quite funny at times; useless as a pundit, but he has some entertainment value, even if it's only for having the piss taken out of him.
Keane is the best (of a bad lot). He tells it how it is and doesn't pull punches. I don't always agree with him, of course, but whatever his opinion, you know they're actually his, unlike Carra and Nevhuel. I think Zlatan is hilarious; he has zero filter. Like Mikah, terrible pundit, but very entertaining at times.

I hardly ever listen to pundits. I generally turn the sound down unless the game is actually in progress. Back when I lived in England and went to the match, I honestly don't think I ever once thought 'I wonder what the pundits are saying about the match'.
They just fill doace before and after games and are just blokes trying to earn a living with their opinions which may or may not be wrong.

Rooney was the only pundit who called the England Argentina game correctly. We all knew Tuchel cost England any chance and Rooney was the only one to call him out. He then went on to explain it from a player's point of view of how Tuchel's bizarre substitutions would have demoralised them.
I thought it was a top piece of punditry from someone who knows what they are talking about. I still sense a lot of nerves with Rooney, but he is relatively new to punditry, and I think he will get better in putting his views across.
