Hello all,

Certainly the strangest times since Brendan leaving.

The talks continue with other coaches, Slot is aware and happy to fulfill his commitment as Head Coach.

Cesc was spoken to, I believe there is little chance of that going ahead. A very data driven conversion.

Truth be known, it’s Alonso.

If not then Gerrard may step in, conversations have been good.

Will stick my neck on the line though.

Xabi is the next LFC manager with no interim.

Ta.

{Ed025's Note - nice one Carra..

10 Dec 2025 22:37:44
Dario reporting he won’t be sacked tonight! (Alonso) .

10 Dec 2025 22:43:11
Just seems a bit weird, what if Slot wins all his remaining games this season?
What if Alonso stays at Madrid?

Thanks for the info Carra we’ll see what comes of it all.

Either way I hope a new manager tells Hughes he’s not coming unless he has final say on ALL signings.
This last transfer window had all the hallmarks of Hughes acting like a ‘kid in a candy store’ so to speak.

10 Dec 2025 22:46:46
Thank you too Eds for making me feel welcome on here, the great job you all do is respected.

Ta.

{Ed025's Note - cheers mate..

10 Dec 2025 22:50:02
Carra if your right great, if your wrong it’s no reflection on you as you have been very accurate and things move fast in football. Much respect!

10 Dec 2025 22:55:55
Thanks Carra. Great infor as usual. Maybe I'm in the minority but I really had hope that Slot would work through this and figure it out.

10 Dec 2025 23:00:01
Hello Ron,

I agree, it’s very weird and being dealt with terribly.

Ta.

10 Dec 2025 23:00:27
Thanks Carra.

When it says fulfill his commitment I wonder if that means he’ll just hang about until an appointment is made, and if we don’t find one then he’ll just see out his contract. If so that’s a really strange position for him to be in, but if he accepts that then I guess that’s really big of him to do so.

While it’s routine for a club to have contingency plans to replace their coach, if it’s so obvious that we were actively searching and it undermines his authority you’d think it may be better for him to walk away with a settlement from the club.

Strange times indeed, maybe hastened by this evenings RM result.

10 Dec 2025 23:01:12
Cheers, Carra.

Xabi, if we can get him, would be ideal.

10 Dec 2025 23:01:30
Thanks for the info Carra.
Always look forward to your posts.
Very much appreciated.

10 Dec 2025 23:06:14
Thanks Carra,

Truly grateful with your information, whether it comes to fruition or not? I still very much enjoy the updates.

10 Dec 2025 23:10:03
I Look forward to Carra’s posts.

10 Dec 2025 23:15:09
Great news to round up my birthday! Thanks Carra. Job.

10 Dec 2025 23:20:06
Thanks as always, Carra!

10 Dec 2025 23:21:37
Carra, will Xabi Alonso would be willing to take another job straight away? I think he's probably exhausted after managing Vini Jr and the rest of the divas at RM. Will probably need to self evaluate too.

10 Dec 2025 23:23:24
Carra, do I need to get in the car and drive to Madrid to pick Xavi up, as I will if needed. F**k I’m going anyway just in case.

{Ed078's Note - I'll go halves on the petrol.

10 Dec 2025 23:29:17
Good stuff Carra - Alonso should be the next manager for a decade. The thing is, he has said he is where he wants to be and where he is supposed to be right now and he may be there for years to come, so what then?

10 Dec 2025 23:37:31
Gonna play devils advocate here and stick my neck on the line to say Slot will not be going anywhere anytime soon.

I have a lot of respect for yourself Carra for what you got spot on in the summer but this is just not how I know our board to operate and certainly not what I’ve been hearing.

I suppose we will see how it all unfolds. Never annoyed about being proven wrong, I just don’t see it.

10 Dec 2025 23:53:13
Cheers Carra.

Have we spoken to Alonso? And if so, has he indicated he would join us straight away if he is indeed sacked at Madrid?

10 Dec 2025 23:59:25
You can buy the snacks at the services ed87.

{Ed078's Note - I'll take my own thanks. Happy to pack for you, but you'll have to eat my delicious vegan fare :)

11 Dec 2025 00:06:14
Thanks for keeping us updated, Carra. Much appreciated mate!

11 Dec 2025 00:14:47
Ron Keague What part of looking at other options when the current manager is responsible for the worst run of form in nearly 75 years is strange?

I'll tell you what actually is strange, is suggesting the current manager who's responsible for the worst run of form in nearly 75 years might win every single one of the 23 reminding games. That's beyond strange.

11 Dec 2025 00:40:08
Likewise after the first 3 years of Arteta who would have thought Arsenal would be where they are now?

11 Dec 2025 01:04:37
Strange but not impossible chewy.

Alonso is manager of Madrid. He’s turned us down once, unless Madrid sack him (for crap results) he will stay at Madrid. So we only get him if he gets crap results at Madrid - wonderful.

If we’ve told Slot “you’re leaving” then why would he put any effort in to the job? He could easily just sabotage the team, get sacked, take a nice hefty payout and a long holiday.

11 Dec 2025 01:12:55
Thing is, Arsenal are often where they are now and they get all “Spursy” in the run in ?.

11 Dec 2025 01:23:04
Interestingly xabi in his pre match conference specifically mentioned that he would be open to coming back to us some day when asked about managing in the premier league. At no point was Liverpool mentioned, he brought it up himself. It's the first time he has specifically said anything about managing Liverpool.

11 Dec 2025 01:38:16
Arne Slot isn’t the manager, he’s the Head Coach, a title he agreed to. Letting the manager decide which players to buy is part of the reason Manchester United have been a mess for over a decade.

11 Dec 2025 05:01:08
Thanks for the post Carra, appreciated as always.

11 Dec 2025 06:44:26
Thanks Carra love your posts but this is my favourite one so far.
Hopefully it happens sooner rather than later. It feels like Alonso could be our manager for years to come if all goes well.

11 Dec 2025 06:54:56
Ron are you seriously telling me that any manager in his right mind would’ve said they don’t want to sign Wirtz, Isak and Ekitike in the summer?

Hughes was tasked with replacing the players we’d lost in the summer and he did an incredible job of it. Just because they haven’t all hit the ground running doesn’t mean he suddenly did a bad job.

His job is to persuade and sign the best players available for the club and he did exactly that.

11 Dec 2025 07:07:28
Thanks again carra a living legend.

11 Dec 2025 07:23:47
If you listen to Slot’s pre and post match interviews, he in no way comes across as someone who was told in late November that he’s now a stand in coach. Either he”s a very good actor and has no dignity or this is rubbish.

11 Dec 2025 07:27:47
Well Sean, somebody on here called our transfer window the worst transfer window in premier league history the other day if you can believe it.

11 Dec 2025 08:10:53
Yeh this re-writing of history to suggest that everyone on these boards and indeed tbe whole football world didn't think our summer window was unbelievable at the time is just sad and ridiculous.

11 Dec 2025 08:21:22
The jumping to conclusions on here is daft! Honestly any small comment is taken as gospel, however it's said. Alonso saying he may one day return is in no way a " come and get me"

There is no way IMO Slot knows he's only keeping the seat warm for another manager.

Think about it. Slot was trying everything coaching almost every move in the Inter game. Reminding the players to keep focus every time the camera was on him. A dead man walking would not do that. He's trying to address the School boy stuff our team have been doing. The performance was solid, which is what we need right now!

I don't believe Alonso is the anserw. The PSG coach would be my honest preference.

Slot got us into this, he is showing signs of turning the tanker round. I'm of the opinion he stays until the end of the season. The premier league is the test, we have to overcome the speed pace teams present us with. Brighton will be a massive test.

YNWA.

11 Dec 2025 09:38:32
TB2 - Klopp had final say, just ask Edwards.

11 Dec 2025 09:45:30
I am not in the know and this is purely my opinion based on what has been said:-
I think Slot is home sick as this is his first job outside his home country. Due to this I can see he may have agreed to be head coach until the summer and then leave.

This would be the only thing I can see with the ITK’s saying Slot understands the situation and is happy with the club talking to other managers.

11 Dec 2025 10:12:14
The amount of blind and frankly incomprehensible loyalty to Slot after 1 season is absolutely crazy, Klopp I could understand but.

Chrisy, if we all did our jobs on live global TV, even if we were working our notice we'd make damn sure we did our absolute best and damn sure make it look that way to for potential future employers.

I for one pray Carra is right and see the back of Slot soom, thanks for the title but no thanks for the football.

11 Dec 2025 10:26:18
Jack, he can end his contract whenever he wants. If Slot doesn’t want to be here, he wouldn’t be.
Like I say, he could sabotage the team and he’d be sacked with a lovely payout.
If he wanted to go, his agent would negotiate an exit.

11 Dec 2025 10:27:23
Does anyone truly believe that Slot will take the team onto a consistent winning run from here on inwards?

Fitness levels alone suggest that this will not happen, and this rondo style of play is tedious beyond belief - it does not engage the crowd.

Slot is suited to Holland or maybe Italy / Spain.

11 Dec 2025 10:27:51
Thanks as always Carra, really appreciate the info.

I honestly would be happy with Steven as an interim.

{Ed025's Note - hmmm..

11 Dec 2025 10:51:54
Rojack - we’re being told Slot is happy to see out the season knowing he’s going to be sacked and still put 100% in to the job. And would you expect the players to buy in to that managers expectations?

Would you do that if you were Slot? He’s being totally undermined.

Why would the players play and risk injury/ missing the World Cup for him?
If things go badly - it’s Slot and he’s going anyway.

11 Dec 2025 11:24:47
Slot has a three year contract, I believe. I’d say a decision about the third year (25/ 27) is dependent upon the way the rest of the season goes. I mention his contract as Liverpool would, I suspect, be liable for the payment of a couple of bob if they terminate his contract.

On a seperate note, I think Alonso was great as a player for us, although he improved to world class level when he left us but is everybody really sure that he’s ready / up to the required standard for 5he PL? I’ve read on here lots and lots of times that the Bundesliga is a ‘Farmer’s League’ and he’s not exactly off to a flying start ar Real Madrid. I’m not saying he isn’t up to the task, just asking are there any doubts as he seems to be the overwhelming choice to replace Slot, should he leave.

11 Dec 2025 11:36:58
Not so sure about Gerrard as interim. Maybe he could give us a bit of a lift, like how Ole did at Man Utd years ago, but only as an interim. I don’t think he’s good enough to be a permanent manager at Liverpool.

Although, I will say this; I’d rather put either Ed1 or Ed25- whoever has more free time- as interim manager than have to watch Slot-ball for the rest of the season.

{Ed025's Note - unfortunately Mfahmee i have a Christmas tree to put up and some asroturf repairs to carry out, so im ruling myself unavailable mate.. :)

11 Dec 2025 12:27:50
Ron, I get what you are saying but maybe Slot has a bit more personal pride than just sabotaging the team, I mean it would not put him in a good light for another job if that was the case.

Maybe he also has a bit more self respect and respect for the club as to not walk away?
No one really knows other than those directly involved.

11 Dec 2025 11:56:43
Cheers for info Carra always greatly appreciate your info.

I'd love Xabi coming to us but agree with what a few others have said, it would be a bit strange if we had a relatively decent run to the end of the season and won something. would that suddenly change things? You can imagine the media frenzy if he turns things around and then lost his job. bit of a strange one and tbf, very brave of you to stick your neck on the line.

Does anyone else feel that despite the poor form that he's suddenly got a great deal of support since Salah said what he did? I certainly felt for him after that statement came out.

Be interesting to see how this plays out.

11 Dec 2025 12:11:37
What is the difference in Gerrard and Alonso being managers both have managed a team to winning their leagues both have gone to big clubs and by the looks of it both have failed!

So why is Alonso wanted by the fans and not Gerrard!
Alonso left Liverpool Gerrard stayed and carried the team.
YNWA.

11 Dec 2025 13:21:46
I'm not going to do a Carra or VG and put my neck on the line ?.

What I will say tho is, the info I have heard would suggest both are right.

Slot is safe for the time being, even more so with results slightly improving. It could change if Alonso becomes available but from what I'm told its likely it wouldn't happen till the summer anyway.

11 Dec 2025 13:22:34
Thanks for the info but i can't believe Slot has been told the club are actively looking to replace him at this stage, and the claim weeks ago that he was never intended to be the long term solution is just not true.

11 Dec 2025 13:27:28
I'm going to respectfully disagree with Ron a bit as to Hughes. Notably as to the "kid in a candy shop" idea. I do think he spent a lot, but the players brought in are all players that I think any team would go after if they were available (Wirtz, Isak, Ekitike, Leoni, etc. ) . I do agree that Slot needed a bigger voice.

That said, Slot showed adaptability last season, and I presume (maybe wrongfully) that the idea was Slot would find a way to make important signings work. I think many posters here hoped more adaptation was coming.

So, I agree that the manager needs to have input, but I don't fault the signings overall. I don't know how you don't sign a Wirtz or an Isak if given the opportunity to do so. That's just my opinion though.

11 Dec 2025 14:03:19
‘Why would slot even try? Why wouldn't he sabotage’ I don’t know what world some people live in. If what’s been said is true, and I’m inclined to believe it, slot has essentially been told you will get your pay out, and given time in which he can try salvage his reputation.

This is the first season where slots tried to do things HIS way and so far it’s caused his stock to plummet. It would benefit nobody to not try or to sabotage.

11 Dec 2025 12:32:47
Most unfortunate and disappointing Ed25.
I'd be so thrilled and excited to look forward to your pre-match and post- match thoughts.
Your answers to journalists would be more entertaining and valuable than a season ticket.
Please take the time to rethink your decision!

Ngin.

{Ed025's Note - thanks Ngin, i will consider it over a mince pie and a glass of egg nog mate.. :)

11 Dec 2025 15:13:54
A shame, Ed. I’m actually looking forward to you going after all these know-it-all pundits like Carragher and Neville. It would be pure cinema.

{Ed025's Note - me and Jamie would end up in a boxing match mate.. :)

11 Dec 2025 16:35:40
Big respect to Carra of course. but I'm not sure I see this one playing out

"Cesc was spoken to, I believe there is little chance of that going ahead. A very data driven conversion. "

Agreed there's no chance on this.

"Truth be known, it’s Alonso.

If not then Gerrard may step in, conversations have been good. "

Gerrard has about as much chance as Cesc. FSG have been far too clear headed and business minded to blow up their asset on Gerrard as a manager. His stock is very low and the only reason he's mentioned is his history as a player at the club. They'd be better re-hiring Kenny.

"Will stick my neck on the line though.

Xabi is the next LFC manager with no interim"

if I understand correctly, and I appreciate I may have misunderstood, this sounds like Slot knows he's gone and Real Madrid knows Alonso is out at the end of the season. I just don't see what's in it for anyone (either the clubs or the managers) to play out the next 7 months like nothing's happened.

I think Slot will be in charge come the summer and I think in that time he'll have every chance to improve enough to get at least the start of next season to see how he gets on. At the moment, Xabi is having a similar season to Arne and he's previously turned us down. Other than sentiment again, there's no reason to believe he's an upgrade.

11 Dec 2025 17:11:22
Slot has too much professional pride and respect for the club to walk away.

The club, we’re led to believe, is totally undermining Slot and has no respect for him.
He is apparently home sick.

So your employer is undermining you, you’re homesick, but your respect for your employer and your professional pride stops you from seeking an exit.

Sorry, doesn’t stack up for me. He gets a payout either way, negotiate a payout or get sacked by blowing the team up.

He either doesn’t know or there is no decision yet made.
All my humble opinion.

11 Dec 2025 17:17:04
I understand he has players out injured at the moment but if Alonso is struggling with Madrid in a league less competitive than the premier league why are people so keen on him to become our manager?

11 Dec 2025 18:22:38
Real Madrid are not struggling. They are second in the league and have a very good set of La Liga results.

11 Dec 2025 18:34:51
Then why is there talk of him getting the sack.
Genuine question.

11 Dec 2025 20:02:34
Player power. The stars don’t like his discipline and rotations.

11 Dec 2025 21:14:26
The issue for Alonso at Madrid is he’s asking the players to train rather than go on parties after a win and press/ run to win games. From the look of our play this season under Slot we have the complete opposite where we don’t look like we train or have the fitness to press, and regardless of the excuses creeping in of this being personnel issues, we started this dreadful run with slow boring style in February where we went out of the Champions League luckily making penalties and lost a cup final to Newcastle.

Fingers crossed Slot can get some momentum going with the recent results looking better but in all honesty we were shocking against Sunderland, capitulated against Leeds and Inter played into our hands with the slow tempo and then a very fortunate penalty.

11 Dec 2025 22:51:00
This might be an old/ obvious question, but can the Eds confirm that Carra is actually Jamie Carragher?

His info is spot on, so I don't doubt he is someone with connections. But some of his posts on here seems o contradict some the things 'Carra' says in public.

{Ed001's Note - no he is not and never claimed to be.}

12 Dec 2025 03:06:45
If he was carragher I doubt he'd be hanging around here with the sorts of things that folks here say about him!

12 Dec 2025 04:53:38
Have to agree to disagree Ron I’m afraid. I don’t understand your mindset of all or nothing “take a payout or blow the team up”? Maybe this is just the state of today’s society thinking. I know the world is now based on greed and making quick money, but some people are better than this.
