Current climate in players. He's worth 35 to 40m. Anyone who says more is deluded. Don't think they'd sell him and he doesn't want to go by all accounts. But if they accept a offer he'll know he isn't valued anymore and might change his mind. Personally opinion is we get offers 40m we should take it.

Tell ye one thing Magico if he's worth no more than £35-40m then the figures been bandied around for the likes of Anderson and Wharton are totally ridiculous. Curtis knows what its like to play for a global club, the pressure the scrutiny.
Every mistake you make for a club like ours is magnified whereas your only seen the likes of Palace and Forests highlights on MOTD. Kerkez's struggles when he first made the jump should show us that.

On the one hand some think Cody, Curtis and Robbo aren't good enough to be first teamers, and there's also a group of supporters who criticise because there's no route to the first team for the likes of Trey.
So long as we get reasonable value I'm not against selling any of those three. I'd like to see some of the youth get blooded a bit first but we've been playing poorly so that wasn't necessary the best time to play Trey or others.
It's increasingly looking like a major transition season, so it's probably best to carry on and clear the decks, get back into the CL and go again next season with a refreshed team and squad.

You NEED players like Curtis Jones. Squad players of a certain quality who are happy to take the minutes as and when they come, without kicking up a fuss. You also NEED home grown players, and players with a longstanding connection to the club.
If we sold Curtis it would be worse than all of the other idiotic transfer choices so far. I'd be calling for Hughes' head, and i've already not calmed down after the moronic blunders with the home grown targets of Semenyo and Guehi.
Does this guy understand any of the basic practicalities of squad planning? Numbers, quotas, mid season international tournaments? The fact we are even considering this has made my blood boil.

I suspect the real issue is the contract negotiation and his salary expectations.
He is getting plenty of game time so I don't see any issue there.
He knows he's home grown and the only Scouser in our team, so he's playing the game.
I very much doubt Spurs are going to pay him more than we are willing to unless they are changing their existing wage structure.
Bottom line - it makes sense for us to keep him and I suspect he wants to stay and that this is just his agent using Spurs interest to strengthen his hand.
I would be shocked if they are willing to sell him given our home grown numbers and the fact that he's the only remaining Scouser in our first team squad.

I wouldn't want him going at almost any price but at 25/ 30 would be scandalous. Great squad player capable in all the midfield roles. Has been one of the shining lights during our worst of worst earlier this season. Not to mention loves the club and can be counted on to give his all.

If the only reason to keep Jones is because of the location of his birth then there's no reason to keep him. Quite frankly he's not good enough, I don't even think he flatters to deceive, defensively he's brainless, his usage of the ball in possession isn't very good, he has a bad habit of hanging on to the ball too long and takes too many touches, doesn't offer much going forward and offers even less when defending.
Him and Mac Allister can both be easily upgraded. And don't mention Jones in the same breathe as Anderson or Wharton as they've both dog walked him this season. Jones is as spursy a player as I've ever seen. Take their money and move on.
