CJ is currently unhappy, rumours of him being a problem are untrue tho. He is considering his options tho, if he does leave it won't be to another Prem team.

Wharton is favoured over Anderson, as Forest are expecting a bidding war for Anderson. Schlotterbeck, as mentioned around Christmas was the alternative to Guehi. Nothing has changed there.

28 Feb 2026 13:42:17
Thanks for the info, fields. Just wondering if you can answer this. Are these incomings and outgoings all going to be made regardless of who the manager is next season? Or could things change, say, if a new manager comes in? E.g. if Alonso comes in and were to decide he wants to keep Curtis?

28 Feb 2026 14:18:11
Have seen quite a lot of negative comments about Curtis, so for balance, I really rate him, but as a scouser he was never going to rip up trees like Steven. But I can definitely see why Curtis might be frustrated, given how patchy Gravenberch and Mac Allister's form has been. Personally, I would prefer it if he stays.

28 Feb 2026 14:46:39
I'd rather Anderson over Warton any day of the week. Any time I've watched Warton he hasn't stood out.

28 Feb 2026 17:27:02
Anderson will go to Citeh for the thick end of 100M. Wharton is likely to be around 60M, although Stiller might be a better and cheaper alternative.

28 Feb 2026 17:29:23
Jones doesn't get into any other prem team, if you ask me! Love him in all, but he's too inconsistent and bang average. If he was from Stoke, he'd have been sold years ago.

28 Feb 2026 17:33:37
CJ doesn't come across as being a problem. So many stories of people falling out with Slot. Where there's smoke and all that.

28 Feb 2026 18:43:44
What can Jones really complain about? He is a very poor player with the ego of Vinicius Jr.

28 Feb 2026 18:56:34
He's neither poor nor has a big ego.

28 Feb 2026 18:59:09
The amount of shade Curtis Jones gets in this website is appalling. Quality baller who can cover a number of positions or roles, English international, and local lad. Sell, and then be ready to pay twice as much for any homegrown player of his level. You Never Walk Alone and all that.

28 Feb 2026 19:20:44
What Cameron said. Should be vice captain for me.

28 Feb 2026 19:54:36
Konate will be sadly offered a new contract if, also sadly, the Slot is still head coach, Jacket and Leoni will be more than capable of replacing IBoo (him all the time). Will throw my hat in the ring for Baleba over Wart-son and Hans Christian Andersen, who is a "Fairy-Tale" squad player at best, and only stands out for Forest because they are relegation fodder.

Another scenario at the end of this season could be to lose all our three best midfield players, Dom, Ryan, Alexis, that would be absolutely crippling for next year's squad. I personally class Wirtz as a playmaker, similar to Bobby Firmino, a false number nine feeding Hugo and Isak.

Gakpo and Mo Salah must leave the club, as they will not be as good as the pairing of Hugo and Isak together as two centre forwards. The only way Slot stays for me is he either wins UCL or FA Cup, or better still, hopefully both. If Man United finish above us and we win nothing, he goes regardless of qualifying for next year's UCL.

Some things to ponder: the last two Premier wins have been against relegation fodder Forest and West Ham! No Wirtz in either game! The best midfield player in Europe back into his correct position! Mo Salah, no goals last two games.

28 Feb 2026 20:11:00
He's not the best but certainly not egotistical.

28 Feb 2026 20:47:10
Jones is not a nice person, trust me on that.

28 Feb 2026 21:34:22
Yeah, 'trust me, bro'. Got ya. CJ is a footballer and a good one at that. Whether he is a nice person is immaterial. By many accounts Gerrard is "not a nice person" but he was one of the greatest players this club has ever had. Stupid move to sell him, but if he doesn't want to stay, then we have little choice.

28 Feb 2026 21:44:56
@lfc1312, Just wtf? Disgraceful comment. And untrue.

28 Feb 2026 22:13:45
Personally I don't rate Jones. Not good enough to be a starter, and too inconsistent, and that's being generous. There's rumour he wants £200k and a more prominent role. Unfortunately, he really isn't that player. If true, then he's being delusional.

Bench player at best. I still can't think of anything he's good at. He's not great defensively, not great going forward, and positionally all over the place. He's easily replaced in the squad, and represents a tidy profit.

28 Feb 2026 22:15:18
We've got both ends of the spectrum here. I have him somewhere in the middle. He's not a baller, and he's not bang average. He's just a decent squad player that does a decent job, but nothing special.

01 Mar 2026 00:22:42
It's unfair some of the criticism he gets. Was his position that of Gakpo's now? He's being asked to play mf and rb. He can play 4 positions quite well. He's a Scouser; give him the vice captaincy. I think he will thrive.

01 Mar 2026 04:59:26
Yeh, I think we need players like Curtis. Is he our best player? No. Certainly not our worst by a long stretch. When he was fit and up to speed, he was used by Klopp. He gets used when fit and up to speed by Slot, even though not as much. But then, who does, other than his chosen few? So, yeh, I would like to have a local lad around the place. Now, if it's financial, then that's a different story.

Does he warrant 1st team regular wages? No. But then again, if he looks over the bench and knows what others are earning, contributions the same or less, then I absolutely understand him wanting more. If he is thinking about leaving, I am actually more worried about it pointing to Slot staying. And that, for me, is more worrying than any player leaving.

01 Mar 2026 07:14:43
He's a good squad player. Not a starter, but great coverage when players are injured. It'd weaken the squad if he left, and it would be a shame to see a local lad leave. I read somewhere on here that we wouldn't be discussing it if he wasn't a Scouser, and straight away I spotted the flaw in the argument.

01 Mar 2026 10:05:12
Curtis is a problem. That's a fact. Anfield staff would have no issue telling you that. Another poster commented that it does not matter if Curtis is a good person or not, as long as he performs on the pitch, and that may be true, but it does not change the fact that it has become a borderline obstacle behind the scenes to keep some drama under lock and key.

The club does not need that.

01 Mar 2026 10:09:59
If CJ wasn't from Liverpool, he probably wouldn't be a Liverpool player. He is average, nothing more, nothing less. Would the analytics dept have identified him as a player for LFC to buy? No. He can cover a number of positions, but is average in all of them. I can see the benefit in having him in the squad, as a stopgap, but if he wants more game time with another club and generates a good fee, let him go and buy a better player.

Simply put, Curtis Jones is never going to bring enough quality to the team to be considered a starter. Klopp didn't think so, Slot doesn't think so, and no doubt the stats dept don't think so.

01 Mar 2026 10:52:23
If Jones is a tosser then sell. If Jones is not a tosser, then keep, as with a year left we will get pittance for him, and he is a good squad player. When he moves the ball quickly, he is a top MF.

01 Mar 2026 11:36:49
Don't understand the amount of negativity for CJ. Seems like a good squad player, which is needed. Can't all be world beaters, and it's very difficult to maintain any level when used sparingly, so it's difficult to judge performances, as all players need a good run of games to show what they can really do.

01 Mar 2026 10:16:16
007 absolute waffle. Can the Eds stop this disrespectful rubbish?

{Ed033's Note - 007 on the watchlist.

01 Mar 2026 10:24:51
Ed001, just curious to hear what your thoughts are on this. This is the first time I've heard of attitude problems coming from Jones. I don't live in the area nor do I know him personally but he always comes across as someone who cares deeply for the club and who works hard, even though he is limited.

So I am surprised to hear that he is implied tk be a problem-maker in the squad

{Ed001's Note - I know of no issues with him.}

01 Mar 2026 12:31:55
Posters seem to disagree with my comments and say it's disrespectful without appearing to know too much, or asking why I'd think he is egotistical.

Putting that aside, he isn't young enough to give him any leeway in regards to his performances, and his poor performances are poor.

Then we get the "we need a Scouser in the team" brigade.

We need a talented player, and if he so happens to be Scouse then even better.

The likes of Gerrard, Carragher, Trent and Fowler never relied on their birthplace to secure minutes.

01 Mar 2026 12:51:08
My mate lives near his Grandad. He said that he is a really nice guy every time he has spoken to him.

01 Mar 2026 13:16:53
Thanks Ed for the response.

@lfc1312, Then could you tell us why you think he is egotistical? You threw out that description without backing it up, and expect all of us to accept it. So of course you'd get pelters.

And I don't think Jones ever used his birthplace to secure minutes.

It isn't as if he's barging in to Slot's office, demanding to be played because he's Scouse. I don't think he has ever played it up in the media or made it part of his identity even.

01 Mar 2026 13:31:26
Curtis didn't get on at all yesterday. Trey was subbed on ahead of him.

01 Mar 2026 14:41:28
It's obvious that there is some sort of problem. Jones can't get a start even when his competition is playing well below their levels. He didn't even get on as a sub yesterday. Unfortunately, he will never be good enough to be first choice at Liverpool.

01 Mar 2026 15:03:26
Whilst I feel the league in general has invested far too much time and money in foreign players and would love to see a high number of Scousers in the team, I won't be disillusioned as to anyone's level of ability/performance just because they're homegrown. Jones is a good player, a solid squad option who can't fill a number of roles. Personally, I've felt as much frustration as I have joy watching Jones play. He has had some great moments, but ultimately he is too inconsistent to be deemed irreplaceable.

I could fully see him getting frustrated both with not becoming a starter, given the high praise and expectation as he came through the ranks, and with disagreeing with Slot's tactics. I remember when he did the post-match after PSV and said something along the lines of "It's not always about passing it around and being nice on the ball. Sometimes you want to be a man out there. Be a dog. Just go out there and tackle/smash someone." My immediate thought was "Who's stopping you?", but ultimately, I think it was pretty revealing of his distaste for Slot's ineffective possession-based approach.

I do believe it's incredibly important to have Scousers in the team, especially when I look at games like our previous match with United, where I found myself asking "Do these lads know who they're playing for? Or who they're playing against? Have they any idea what a derby is?".

I would love nothing more than to see Jones develop into a world class player. There are moments when he shows fantastic ability, but unfortunately those moments are too few and far between for the club to see past any major issue behind the scenes. I believe they view him as replaceable, and I can see him going abroad in pursuit of more game time if he does indeed find himself continually frustrated by his situation. For me personally, he plays a valuable role, it would cost an arm and a leg to get in another homegrown player of his ability and I never like to see a Scouser moving on.

01 Mar 2026 13:22:27
Ed0025 I have heard any bad things about CJ regarding his attitude or him not being a nice person?

{Ed025's Note - as far as i know Grino hes supposed to be a very nice lad, and i have not ever heard about him moaning over game time or anything, personally i dont think hes a very good footballer mate but thats subjective of course..

01 Mar 2026 16:11:24
@lfc1312, Just to follow up on @Drac's point, are you actually going to follow up on your original comments about Jones?

01 Mar 2026 17:43:02
Ed025, yeah I agree about Jones, it's subjective on what people think about him as a footballer. I think the best way to describe him is very, very frustrating because he does have everything he needs to be a top-class midfielder. He is good on the ball, has a great engine, can tackle, and pass very well under pressure when receiving the ball.

But he is still doing the same things wrong: holding on to the ball too long, slowing down the play too much.
But for people to come on here and make statements about his personality and about him as a person, without any evidence to back it up, is wrong.

{Ed025's Note - he can be frustrating Grino, but as you say mate its a bit unfair to crucify him for things that are just not true..

01 Mar 2026 21:15:02
Wdw certainly.

I've had the displeasure of being in his presence twice.

Once, many years ago, when he had just broken in, he refused to sign my nephew's shirt.

And another time, in a well known bar, he was literally throwing money at staff and, being, as I say, very egotistical.

I could swallow the 2nd if he was actually a good player.

But, as I say, ego of Vicinius and ability of a Championship player.

01 Mar 2026 21:36:22
I don't personally rate CJ, but he seems like a decent enough lad and has given his all when he has played.

All this unsubstantiated nonsense about him being egotistical and a problem is sad to hear from Liverpool supporters. Back up your statements if you know this to be a fact.

02 Mar 2026 00:10:14
I've never met Curtis, so I couldn't comment on his personality. However, he did say something in an interview which has stuck with me.

He said:

'I'm just one of them who loves to play. I just enjoy having the ball at my feet. I've obviously heard that there's criticism at times that I don't move the ball quick enough. That's just because I'm comfortable on the ball.

I don't want to be in a rush and then I give a ball to a lad who is not as comfortable as me on the ball, and he is kind of in a little bit of a challenge and then he gets the blame.

I'd rather just take it on me and know that a lad who comes to press me is going to have to do an awful lot to take the ball off me.'

Now, to me, he's just explained everything that is wrong with his game.

He backs himself way too much for someone of his ability. To coin a phrase, he's writing cheques his ability can't cash, and he thinks it's a positive, so he's not going to change. I can totally understand, based on his own words, why someone would call him egotistical.

He holds onto the ball way too long, and is, in fact, very easy to get the ball off, as was shown by his abject performance against Forest last week before Slot had to save him from himself by moving him to RB.

I think he's a decent squad player to have, and he's a scouser which is a bonus, but if he's causing trouble because of a lack of playing time and wants to leave, I certainly wouldn't fight to keep hold of him.

02 Mar 2026 08:21:18
I don't know the lad, so I can only give a subjective opinion on his ability as a footballer. I have watched him since he was a kid in the academy. He has been turned into a central/defensive midfielder from mainly playing youth football as an attacker. He lacks that defensive awareness, and follows the ball too much, instead of protecting the space. He also holds on to the ball too long, and slows the game down too much for my liking. His crosses into the area never reach their target.
The contract situation looks ominous, and we do need to start moving players on before they get down to the last year.

I personally would have kept Morton and sold Jones last summer.
This isn't an attack on the lad's personality, because I don't know him, it is an opinion on whether he has the right credentials to be a top central midfielder for Liverpool Football Club going forward, and, unfortunately, I don't think that is the case.
Good luck to him, whatever he decides to do next season, and thanks for the FA Cup goal he scored against the Blues. Sorry, Ed 25, I couldn't resist that.

{Ed025's Note - even a broken clock is right twice a day IT.. :)

02 Mar 2026 09:08:51
I think Curtis Jones could be better than average. He is good on the ball, but I think his first thought is always the safe one, be it back or to the side. He doesn't have the game awareness to be a holding MF, but he has never been able to find a 'best position' on the pitch. I remember him scoring a wonderful curler against the Blues, but he has not ever done that again.

He has scored a few arriving late in the box, but again he doesn't do it consistently. I think if he found a true position, probably at another club, his true value will come out, but he has been a valuable squad player in his time here.

{Ed025's Note - we all know his best position Worzal...its on the bench.. :)

02 Mar 2026 10:10:56
The amount of conjecture re-Jones is unbelievable. The demands? The character assassination? The deformation of his role in the squad/team?

Utter nonsense.

02 Mar 2026 13:02:04
I am a fan of Curtis FYI, bit the below is for LFC1312 or is it 313?

Dear Curtis, I wrote but you still ain't called,
I tagged you twice on Insta, left a comment on your wall.
I was there when you debuted, mate, I swear I saw it all,
But you blanked my nephew's shirt — no signature at all.

He was six, you know, his hero, had the number on his back,
Now he's crying in his bedroom, says his childhood's off track.
I tried to tell him "footballers are busy after match."
But you walked past like you'd just won the Ballon d'Or in a hatchback.

Dear Curtis, I ain't mad, I just think it's kinda wild,
You were tossing cash at bar staff like a Premier League exile.
See I could forgive the swagger, I could stomach all the style,
If your passing matched the ego that you're flexing all the while.

You've got the aura of Vinicius, that theatrical display,
But the output's mid-table Tuesday on a cold away day.
Championship first touch, Hollywood things to say —
Yet you strut around the boozer like you run the FA.

Dear Curtis, this'll probably be the last time that I post,
It's not that I'm obsessed, it's just I value what matters most.
Humility and graft, not champagne at the host,
When your highlight reel's a five-yard pass and vibes at best, at most.

I'm just saying, mate, the arrogance is hard to defend,
When the stats need Google Maps just to find them again.
Maybe sign a few more shirts, try assisting your friend —
Or at least earn the ego before the forum descends.
