Slot gone, konate leaving and apparently frimpong leaving too. Weekend keeps getting better and better. Thanks for the title Arne, but losing and drawing this amount of games, struggling to fifth and being tactically out thought in almost every game whilst playing slow boring basic football is just not the Liverpool way.

When rumours of lack of fitness, poor training and coaching methods, player unrest and lack of trust in direction of club are an almost daily appearance, then the writing is on the wall. Losing 19 games and finishing fifth is the bottom line of simply not good enough. Thanks and best wishes for the future but just not Liverpool quality.

Iraola about to step out of a friendly village club with 40 games a season to a global giant, where millions of fans will hang on his every word, and who play 1/3 more games.

The shadow squad / second 11 of excellent young players, and sacrificing the 2 lesser cups to fully focus and conserve the energy required to play for an Iraola side, may well be required.

30 May 2026 14:15:25
Bigger squad and technically better players and a better academy should stand him in good stead. Szoboslai will thrive under Iraola as his natural game is about his natural athleticism, same for Kerkez, but I think we may see some players step up and be brilliant with the new setup.

30 May 2026 14:18:59
The league knows how Iraola plays. They set up to stop him.

He still took a Bournemouth team with middling talent to the cusp of Champions League football.

30 May 2026 14:19:11
I would not get rid of Frimpong.

Particularly, if we are getting Iraola.

He looks like an Iraola style RB to be and he is homegrown.

Why take a loss and create more gaps. It's only been one season. I wouldn't chuck him just yet. One more season.

30 May 2026 14:31:45
He's useless, Davey, that's why we need to get rid of him. No good defending + No good attacking = Just No good. Buy a real football player instead. They are out there.

30 May 2026 14:34:28
I agree, Davey, I think people need to lay off Frimpong. It's been one season, only 1 or 2 players have anything to be proud about from last season.

If we do get Iraola, we need strength and depth, not deplete the squad even more than it is.

I think Frimpong will come good.

Ryan RW,
Scott CM
Senisi CB on free
Raid Bour for above.

30 May 2026 14:59:10
I'd keep Frimpong over Bradley purely based on Bradley's injury record.

We need a RB either way.

30 May 2026 14:59:36
Many people wanted rid of Firmino in the first few games he played for us because Rodgers had no clue how to use him. Iirc, he even played RB under Rodgers and he was absolutely dire that game.

I think something similar happened to Frimpong under Slot. Frimpong is an RB who thrives when going forward on the overlap.

He isn't someone who thrives when instructed to invert into midfield, nor is he a right winger. Slot didn't use him correctly, so I don't think it's fair for us to judge him this season. Or the other players for that matter. It's a clean slate for everyone for me.

30 May 2026 15:09:58
Assuming you are judging Frimpong on just this season, pretty much the whole squad needs to go then. Maybe he is a dud, but let's see what a proper attacking coach can do with these players first ay? The main problem is gone, so it's time for a unified fresh start where everyone gets a fair opportunity, including Elliot, hopefully.

30 May 2026 15:22:00
Frimpong is the worst defender we've had since Glen Johnson. He can't tackle, can't pass that well, gets dispossessed too easily and often plays the wrong ball. But he's quick, that's the best you can say.

30 May 2026 15:23:33
Genesis is a Spurs player now.

30 May 2026 15:23:45
It will be very interesting to see this team, with these players, under a new manager.

The players struggled under Slot this season, and with a different style and approach, these players might flourish.

Grav was crap under Klopp, but amazing under Slot in his 1st season...Slot was amazing in Slot's 1st season and woeful this season...

Let's see how these players do under Iraola, and take it from there.

30 May 2026 15:24:47
Senesi is a Spurs player.

30 May 2026 15:37:29
Unlike Slot, shankly, I've seen green shoots with Frimpong. Yes, he was poor but I think he needs coaching and to play RB. He is definitely not a winger. I'd just like to see him in. Amore direct team before pulling the trigger. Think his pace could cause problems in a quicker pace of football.

30 May 2026 15:44:33
Whilst I'm ecstatically high on the europhic news of Slot's departure, can I go full tilt and dream of either Enrique or, dare I say it Pep!? Could we ask the question before committing to a lad who has done a mighty fine job at a seaside club, but could be overawed by the behemoth that is Liverpool FC! ??

30 May 2026 15:47:34
If Iraola is offered, and accepts, the job I'd be happy to see which team he'd chose to play, and also the way he wants the team to play. He has been a big fish in the shallow end of the pool, it'd be interesting to see how he adapts to the deep end.

30 May 2026 15:50:13
Frimpong is a wing back. He deserves another year in a different format. Worry is his fitness and he needs to deliver into considerably better than he has this season. Conor is by far better in both defence and delivery.

30 May 2026 16:06:52
Frimpong is just not good enough at either RB or RW.

30 May 2026 17:05:41
Frimpong has had his share of bright moments this year. The problem with him is that when he can't beat his full back for pace, he doesn't really have anything else in his locker and will struggle. Of course he's faster than his man about 8 times out of 10, but the other 2 times he might as well not be on the pitch on either side of the ball. We can't deny that there have been times when his bursting past his defender from a standing start has contributed to some exciting moments in dire matches this year, though.

I do think some of his more promising moments have involved Flo drifting to the right and the two of them playing off each other. It shows that they have a deep understanding of each other.

30 May 2026 17:36:06
In fairness to Frimpong, he's had a few injuries that really kept him from gaining any confidence, and, considering the amount of players in the squad performing poorly as a result of Slot's tactics and training etc, I wouldn't be adverse to him getting another year.

30 May 2026 18:59:47
We need more than 16 players in a season. We need strength and depth, which we don't have at the moment. Give Frimpong a chance in a functional team.
